DxP REWRITE - Coal Badge
(Please see special note below!)
Part 1 of the Gym Montage, starting off with Oreburgh City & those first few steps through Sinnoh! Emmet tested Ansy a lot during the first few badges, much like Barry does in BDSP & in DPPt, but with Double Battles, & something better than a slow-evolving Starly lol. Oreburgh is where he gets his fossil Pokémon: Ballast, the now Shieldon!
Meanwhile, Team Galactic being more of a classic, Pokemon theft team, quickly learns that Ansy still nurses a special grudge towards their type lol. (It was super effective!)
⭐️ In case you missed our special weather report last night, I’m gonna be collabing with a friend from Instagram, Professor Case, in efforts to raise relief funds for Hurricane Helene & Milton. We’re thinking of setting up a donation & making little Pokémon thank you doodles in return. Luckily, I have a cushion of completed comics ready to go, so when we got this all set up, I’ll be ready! ✍🏻
If you’re in Milton’s path today, PLEASE stay safe! Whether it’s batten down the hatches or evacuation, do so as safely as you can. In the meantime, follow NOAA (National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration) for the most accurate forecast! Lots of love from your more northern neighbor 🩵

What do you think Hello Happy World member's pokemon teams would be ?
Mod Fusion:
Tumblr media
It's Kokoro. What explanation do you need? (She doesn't even catch them, they just hang around her.)
Tumblr media
Before Kaoru put up her princely persona, her Ralts and Sprigatito were just as timid as she was.
Her whole team is themed around making as much of a dramatic and handsome presence as possible (and possible connections with Chisato *cough* Sableye/Mawile *cough*).
(And yes, she named the Marowak Yorrick.)
Tumblr media
Hague's first three Pokémon are known for their speed and athletic prowess (and, in Toedscruel's case, the taste).
Later, after joining HHW, and she wished to stay away from competitive battling, she ended up befriending two party animals in the form of Ludicolo and Hitmontop.
During the dinosaur event, the egg actually (somehow) hatched into a baby Shieldon that later evolved into a Bastiodon.
Tumblr media
Need more be said?
Tumblr media
Bewear is self-explanatory.
Claydol and Zebstrika are based on Misaki's existing hobbies (Claydol is a handmade doll and lots of tennis players in B/W own Zebstrikas).
What better choice for HHW's mom than a Kangaskhan.
The Shiinotic was captured around the time Rimi captured her Parasect.
And the (Zen) Darmanitan was based purely off of vibes.

BLORBO THOUGHT INDULGENCE any thoughts on Gary’s arrogance and how/why he uses it as a cover? Or maybe it’s not a cover and you have other thoughts and opinions on it. I just want to hear Gary personality thoughts if you have any! Everyone interprets him so differently yet similarly at the same time, and it’s fun seeing those takes. Only if you want though
HEY HI omg yes of course i want to!!! i agree that gary gets written in a lot of different ways. i think that’s the case because between say, early os and dp, he’s gone through a lot of interesting changes. so there are a lot of facets of his personality to work with, but you’re right that they all have similarities too!
that being said…i don’t think his arrogance is exclusively one thing or the other. i think by dp, we see someone who is fairly confident in his competency and is respected by his peers and mentors. but if we look at him at the end of the johto arc, or in chronicles, we see someone who’s clearly NOT confident. by jn, he’s kind of gained back the arrogance we all loved from the indigo league.
the interesting thing to me though is…i don’t know if “arrogant” is even really the right word for how he behaves at any point after the indigo league? like on the extreme side, look at how he is in jn! he doesn’t like…rub his achievements in anyone’s face, and the only person he actively puts down is goh (which as much as it’s probably MEANT to be a parallel to the ash-gary rivalry we see in the os, they actually have a pretty different dynamic!). the arrogant one between those two is goh, and gary shows him that by…treating him like a nobody. i don’t think gary’s behaviour towards goh has very much to do with how he thinks of himself, except that he SEES parts of himself in goh - that lone wolf, “i can do it all by myself” mentality he has in particular.
i think i’ve said this before (maybe not here. i don’t even know anymore lmao) but i think what’s so interesting about gary’s dynamic with goh is that on the surface they ARE very similar. i think it’s reasonable that gary would assume the root of those similarities is the same. but it’s not. goh’s refusal to work in a team stems from a fear of attachment. if he trusts other people to watch his back, he’s not going to see when and where they lodge the knife in it. HIS “i can do it myself” attitude absolutely is a cover for that.
but GARY…well, he IS better than everyone else, isn’t he? it’s not about people screwing him over specifically or maliciously so much as it is them just not paying close enough attention. he doesn’t want to rely on others because he sees them as incompetent. or, more than that, because he thinks they don’t work as hard as him. so i mean…you could SAY that’s arrogance, and it’d be true to an extent. but it’s also not incorrect to say that this is the case. he’s consistently a top-achiever in everything we see him do. he’s got a reason to think he’s better than everyone, and the reason is that…he is. what he apparently had to learn off-screen is that sometimes he can still make mistakes, and that other people have things they can teach him.
which brings me to dp, the shieldon episode. is this not what happens here? he’s frustrated with ash for being so very…ash about the situation (read: impulsive), but in the end ash helps him and his acceptance of that help is what makes things work.
generally speaking, gary is someone who observes things. he sees everyone else’s errors because he’s watching for them. and generally speaking…he doesn’t make very many errors himself. so it’s really just a matter of time before someone else screws up…and he’s going to make sure they all know it. so times when he does screw up (i think the biggest examples being giovanni’s gym, the indigo league, and his chronicles episode) seem to weigh pretty heavily on him!
after his loss at the league, for example, he takes training in a new direction. before that, he wasn’t working hard because he didn’t think he had to. and that’s arrogance, 100%. it’s not actually that different from how ash is in the indigo league, but ash to me seems to project arrogance to cover up a low self-esteem…which makes a lot of sense. he’s a victim of bullying, if not as in takeshi shudo’s novelization then certainly by gary lol. gary has no reason NOT to feel like he’s the best (side note: this is not the case for blue, at all, whose arrogance is absolutely a cover up lmao). but where ash has to figure out that like…it takes effort to get good, gary already knows this - he’s just put in enough effort and doesn’t need to keep trying anymore.
until he does, of course. after he loses at the indigo league. he seems to humble out quite a bit then! and we never actually see him like…say anything like “i already have THIS many gym badges” after the “i already have ten” scene in the indigo league. in jn, he never even brings up how many tokens he has. we just know because they show us that he’s leading by a significant margin. so like - his treatment of ash in the indigo league? arrogance, absolutely. his treatment of goh in jn - weird roundabout way of helping him realize he needs to improve himself as a person (he says everything he does is for his own benefit…but he also says that he wants to know if goh is worthy of being ash’s companion. and later he says he wants to know if goh is worthy of working alongside him. which…kind of just reinforces the idea that he expects incompetence from other people, and had a feeling goh was maybe more competent than his arrogance made him seem).
so idk if this makes that much sense but tl;dr in the indigo league, i don’t think he’s covering anything up (he might take it a bit too far for other reasons related to the childhood experience of growing up in the shadow of someone extremely famous and intelligent). he’s just arrogant because he hasn’t learned that he has any reason not to be. and after he does learn that…he tones it down significantly, but he still has that attitude of like…i worked hard and if you want to be on the same level as me, you have to work hard too. or else you’re useless to me. which again yeah. you could call that arrogance. but i don’t know if i necessarily would. he just has high expectations! for himself and for everyone else! and that’s not GREAT, because like where’s the limit, right, but it at least makes him less of a jerk.

Pikachu, Psyduck, Duraludon, and the case for NFE (Not Fully Evolved) Pokemon for Pokemon Unite.
Tumblr media
The Pokemon Unite Championship Series has come and gone, congratulations to everyone who made it to the big stage. As a casual player, however, I'm a bit more interested in the trailer teasing the next three pokemon coming to Pokemon Unite.
The first one coming soon is Armarouge, the counterpart to Ceruledge. Both of them evolve from Charcadet, but can only do so through an evolution item exclusive to a specific version of the game. This is par for the course, as plenty of pokemon have parallels between them, like how Latios and Latias can only be obtained in either Pokemon Ruby or Pokemon Sapphire, or how you can only get a Cranidos or a Shieldon in either version of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. This also applies to the available pokemon in Pokemon Unite, though a lot of them are missing their contemporaries.
Like, Sableye has been in the Unite roster for a while, but its counterpart, Mawile, has yet to make an appearance. Trevenant is also in the game, but there's no sign of Gourgeist. Buzzwole and Pheromosa are from the same dimension, but only one is playable. And that's not even without going over the EX pokemon having to fight solo. I mean, what is Zacian without Zamazenta, or Miraidon without Koraidon?
Ok, I'm digressing, but I think I've made my point at how we're getting a pair of pokemon pals on the roster at long last. Hopefully the collection is filled out soon with more acquaintances reuniting with each other on the roster. Gotta catch 'em all, right?
Tumblr media
And then there's Darkrai, a long time fan favorite from Gen 4. You know how it goes with these kinds of pokemon, the shadowy, edgy, demon-like monster attracts all the typical quarry, but it helps that it got its own movie.
What's more interesting to me is how Darkrai, along with many other pokemon on the Unite roster, also had a spot in Pokken Tournament. Normally there'd be minimal correlation, but eagle eyed fans of both games would recognize that there's some shared animations between the two.
Tumblr media
There are other examples, like Garchomp's Dig being 1:1 in how it is animated, or that Pikachu's Volt Tackle is functionally identical in both games, but the big idea here is that the Pokken Tournament roster is slowly being integrated into Pokemon Unite.
If that theory is true, then there are several pokemon very likely to be put into Pokemon Unite within the games lifetime, that being the likes of Empoleon, Sceptile, Weavile, and Suicune.
That even includes long shot ideas like this guy.
Tumblr media
Now's the part where we talk about Psyduck and NFEs in general. NFE stands for Not Fully Evolved and it is a technical classification due to the item Eviolite only working on NFE pokemon. But that's neither here nor there, because the real headscratcher is how Psyduck got into the game instead of Golduck.
Tumblr media
A big part of it is popularity, something Psyduck and Pikachu have in spades over their superior forms. It also helps being the favorite pokemon of Junichi Masuda, one of the founders of Game Freak and Pokemon in general. However, not being able to fully evolve limits your potential on the battlefield in Pokemon Unite, but given Psyduck's characteristic of constantly being plagued by headaches, the Supporter role was a shoo-in for the doofy duck.
Psyduck being in the game opens the door for other NFE pokemon to join the roster. The reason we're looking at this now is because Pikachu, having been in the game since launch, was guaranteed a spot on the roster due to its mascot status. It's also the status quo that Raichu gives the spotlight to Pikachu in all things related to pokemon, so no love lost there.
I do need to mention Duraludon real quick because its status as an NFE pokemon in Pokemon Unite was entirely coincidental. It gained an evolution in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, during the Indigo Disk expansion which was released several months later after launch. Before that, Duraludon was a standalone evolution when it was revealed back in Pokemon Sword and Shield, and no one would have guessed that it would gain an evolution so soon. It's not like the Unite devs could've known, they're a separate company in a different country away from Game Freak. You may have been banned from Little Cup, Duraludon, but you're still an honorary NFE in Pokemon Unite.
Tumblr media
Anyways, more NFE pokemon joining Unite is a matter of supply and demand. There are NFE pokemon out there that have their fans, but are they loved more than their evolutions? Are there enough NFE pokemon out there that have a shot at the Pokemon Unite roster?
I already mentioned Croagunk before, so let's go over its odds. While most NFE pokemon that reached the peak of popularity reside in Gen 1, Croagunk is a special case in that it seems to be liked more than Toxicroak. Now, I like both, but if it were up to me, I'd choose Toxicroak over Croagunk. I'd be fine if the latter got in over the former. I understand the appeal though, as something about its lax demeanor made it popular enough that it got into Pokken Tournament as DLC.
Tumblr media
In Pokken Tournament, its fighting style revolved around randomness, with random effects happening through some of its moves, or random items being thrown out, or even utilizing random debuffs and buffs to its benefit. In Pokemon Unite, it would most likely be a Supporter with a gambling gimmick, having the potential to deal high damage randomly, but would most likely debuff the enemy with poison and hindrances.
So, are there any other NFEs that can join Pokemon Unite? Well, for one, Meowth has a fair shot, having been in just as many episodes in the anime as Pikachu. I actually made a case for Meowth for Pokemon Unite a while ago, though I made my opinions clear that I preferred Persian instead. Also, a frail Supporter that was reliant on its ability to hinder the enemy is something that is typically difficult to balance. I mean, look at Sableye, having once been feared for its invisible tomfoolery, now underwhelming when it appears in a Unite Match. There's gotta be a fine line in making tricky Supporters fun and fair for everyone. And what does Meowth bring to the table?
Tumblr media
As it is themed around good luck and good fortune, a gambling gimmick may also be utilized for its moveset. Since it is well known to use the move Pay Day to fill its trainers pockets, perhaps it could augment an allies Score Pocket by filling it with points or boosting their scoring speed. Although, if Meowth were to take the spot away from Persian, maybe it could take on the Speedster role and throw coins that deal random damage and capitalize on its good luck. Of course, it's odds are even at the beginning of the game, but with more move upgrades it could lean into a very lucky lightning bruiser to make up for its low defenses. (this bit is inspired by @reefs-n-relaxation comment on my Meowth for Pokemon Unite post.)
Beyond these two, I don't really know of any other NFE pokemon that they could possibly add. I mean, maybe you could throw in niche picks like Spheal or Smoliv, but do we really want to see the Supporter archetype cluttered with NFEs? I'm not sure we'll be getting anymore after Psyduck releases, but hey, I'm happy to be proven wrong.
What about you? If you've read this far, maybe you have a favorite NFE that could join Pokemon Unite. I'd love to hear about it.

i have a physical therapy appointment this morning so i don’t wanna start writing my post about beating platinum until after i’m done with that but i figured i’d tie up some loose ends since i wasn’t updating much yesterday
Tumblr media Tumblr media
jasmine just being dropped in this game as a nod to HGSS has always been cool. a town with a lighthouse as well, just like olivine. it’s kind of wack how this cameo appearance remains in bdsp despite there not being a twin johto game to go with it lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this dialogue that implies some cyrus lore as well… i was talking with a friend yesterday about how it’s strange cyrus has a crobat, like most of the “evil team” leaders have friendship evos barring ghetsis, but cyrus is particularly cynical towards pokemon, even his own, and you’d think he wouldn’t be able to have a friendship evo. this dialogue makes me wonder if there was a time where he was reclusive but not as far gone yet when he could have achieved that crobat evolution, and left unchecked by adults on account of “he’s fine, he’s a genius” he spiraled out of control… or maybe it’s a case of kindness, but in the wrong way, or both! who knows. kinda crazy u can miss out on this completely optional dialogue so easily
victory road was mostly uneventful, solved all the puzzles and picked up all the items and fought every trainer etc, though it did put my team through the wringer and i had to actually use the healing items i had been stockpiling off the floor for once, since i didn’t feel like walking back to the pokecenter every time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i picked up some stray dex entries along the way too - as far as i know i’m only missing just a handful of encounters you can get before the league without evolving anything, specifically the one fossil mon you can get at this point (i haven’t checked whether i have shieldon or cranidos), and a handful of mons that can be caught fully evolved with the good rod like Seaking because they’re just SO much easier to get with the super rod and i figured i’d wait until then since fishing can be slow in this game. oh and i haven’t caught the lake trio yet since i want to actually prepare for them properly post-league (i don’t want to wing it like i did with giratina… i want them in premiers…)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and lastly i did beat barry before doing my final league prep, idk i just wanted to get it out of the way. tbh it wasn’t too bad, i had some pokemon faint but within reason. i would say more but i didn’t take notes and the battle wasn’t that crazy. however barry becomes even stronger than cynthia eventually in the postgame so i’m not insulting him at all LOL
but yeah league breakdown coming this afternoon after my PT appointment whee

[BEGIN?]
R: zzt it's going well- we've run into a few other pokemon and he's curious zzt
K: Well I know that much from the videos you've been posting on the blog-
K: Is there anything that hasn't made it into recordings or messages?
R: zzt not to my knowledge... No. Zzt
K: ...And your personal feelings on this?
R: ...
R: ...I don't like it.
K: ...?
R: I don't like that we're so far from his enclosure.
R: So far from people who can help him in case of emergency.
R: I was given orders to protect and watch him.
R: Programmed to do so
R: there's so many variables out here I can't think. And I'm constantly worrying.
R: not to mention his medication for his heart and lungs he hasn't been able to take it and I'm so worried he's just going to-
R: To keel over any second. Because his heart flipped inside out or exploded or- or whatever.
K: ...Rotom...
R: I just.
R: I don't want to be unable to help. Like when he got kidnapped initially.
K: ...
K: I know how you feel.
K: When I got the message from Kenzo to come in immediately I was so scared.
K: there wasn't anything I could do and...I felt like I had failed.
K: but I hadn't. No one knew anything.
R: I knew that person didn't belong here. I knew there was something in the plush.
K: but you couldn't have known that it was something malicious.
R: I should've said something.
K: You can't carry Shieldon's safety on your shoulders alone.
K: It's something we all have to do together.
K: please let yourself rest tonight, Rotom.
K: That Arcanine is with you guys right? I'm sure she'll alert you of any danger.
K: Just keep your chin up. You've done a great job. And Shieldon's health and happiness has shown great improvements with having you around.
K: You're doing a wonderful job.
R: ...thank you Caretaker Kristen.
R: ...everyone else is safe at home now right?
K: Yes. The Rocket base was cleared out. We've been helping to return pokemon to their proper homes all day.
K: The eggs are here and Plover's having a ball trying to identify what's in them.
R: zzt I'm glad. zzt

Pokémon Reborn Screenshot Let's Play: Chapter 31
Tumblr media
Finally, proper timing for uploading the newest chapter once again! Hello everyone, it’s me again, and this week I’m not dealing with post-dental treatment stuff! That won’t be the case next week though, but that’s something I’ll deal with when the time comes. Nothing to worry about! Let’s focus on the now, and right now, we’re finally making some progress in the story again! Two tough boss battles in the last two chapters- but that’s done now, we can finally move on!
Well, not quite. After all, I still need to explain what that second tough boss fight was, not to mention the aftermath of said fight, because that was of some significance. Not to mention all the new Pokémon caught in the last chapter too! So let’s go over what happened-
To prepare for her fight against Kiki, Xera travels back to Reborn City to catch some new Pokémon. A storm is raging, and she finds a frightened Pansear under Opal Bridge, who she rescues and names Char.
At Coral Ward, Xera finds a Lotad on the docks. After feeding it some PokéSnax, the Lotad joins her, and she names it Lily.
Xera returns to Blacksteam Factory and the trapped DayCare Pokémon. After teleporting a Makuhita close to a cage containing a Ditto, the Ditto Transforms into the Makuhita and breaks out of the cage. Xera takes the Ditto with her at this point, naming it Mimic.
At Seacrest’s Garden, Xera catches a Ledyba and names her Spots. After evolving her into a Ledian (and also beating up an Aqua Gang grunt who stole Xera’s Magikarp), Xera returns to Apophyll Cave to trade her for a Hiker’s Shieldon, named Aspis.
After hearing readings from four textbooks in Apophyll Academy, one student gives Xera a Meditite, who she names Asano and later evolves into a Medicham.
On Apophyll Beach, Xera catches a Sandygast, who she names Suna. Suna, as well as Shimmer the Munna, are then evolved into Palossand and Musharna respectively.
With her team prepared, Xera goes to the courtyard of Apophyll Academy to face Kiki, with a still-reluctant Victoria acting as the referee. With Victoria and the students watching, Xera and Kiki begin their battle.
After many trials and tribulations, Xera manages to defeat Kiki and has successfully completed the Academy’s graduation exam. However, before Kiki can finish congratulating her, she collapses in front of everybody.
Victoria and Xera help Kiki back to her room, where Kiki laments not only how she can no longer keep her illness a secret, but also how no amount of physical and spiritual zen can prevent her body from destroying itself.
Victoria finally speaks openly and honestly to her sensei, telling how much it hurts to watch her push herself so much and lie to save face, and urging her to just be honest with everyone so they can all find a way to move forward together.
Kiki takes Victoria’s words to heart, and comes clean about something else she has been hiding, this one regarding Xera. She explains she does not actually have the Strength Machine, for it was stolen not too long ago. She had been hoping she would be able to retrieve the TMX while Xera was completing the tasks for graduation, despite the urgency of Xera’s task.
Victoria is angered by Kiki’s deception and swiftly leaves the room, with Xera following not far behind. Victoria apologizes to Xera on behalf of the Academy- right when her classmate, Lettie, walks in.
Lettie informs Victoria that several students witnessed suspicious figures in black clothes carrying heavy machinery on Azurine Island- Team Meteor, no doubt.
Victoria asks Xera to investigate Azurine Island, as she needs to stay behind to take care of the Academy and Kiki (despite how angry she is at her at the moment).
So, still confused as to how Azurine Island is going to play into this or what Team Meteor could be doing there of all places, but I’m sure we’ll figure it out soon enough. At the very least, I’m looking forward to a change of scenery, whatever Azurine Island has in store. So, time to commit more acts of vigilantism! Let’s go!

Poison/Rock Fish. Well there's many shapes of fish out there, which could be rock and could be poison. Most commonly water/fish pokemon are water/ground instead of water/rock. It's possible that this poison/rock fish is something like a mudskipper in that it lives a lot on land, though a lungfish sometimes lives within it. I'll make a list of all the aquatic pokemon with each type
Poison: Qwilfish/Overqwil (Pufferfish) Tentacool/Tentacruel (Jellyfish) Mareanie/Toxapex (Anemone? Brittle Star?) Paldean Wooper/Clodsire (Axolotl, Salamander)
Rock: Omanyte/Omastar (Ammonite) Kabuto/Kabutops (Horseshoe Crab) Corsola (Coral), Lileep/Cradilly (Sea Lily/Crinoid) Anorith/Armaldo (Anomalocaris/Sea Scorpion) Relicanth (Coelacanth) Tirtouga/Carracosta (Sea Turtle) Binacle/Barbaracle (Barnacle) Dreadnaw (snapping turtle)
The only pokemon that are poison/rock type are Glimmet, Glimmora, and Nihilego. Most of these aren't fish even in a loose sense. A lot of them are fossil pokemon. In that case I'd love to make/be another fossil pokemon!
Aerodactyl (pterodactyl, rock/flying) Cranidos/Rampardos (pachysephalosaurus rock) Shieldon/Bastiodon (protoceratops, rock/steel) Archen/Archeops (archeopteryx rock/flying) Tyrunt/Tyrantrum (tyranosaurus, rock/dragon) Amaura/Aurorus (sauropod, rock/ice) Drake/Bird/Fish/Dino (raptor/bird/dunkleosteus/therapod, dragon/electric/water/ice)
So we're looking for an ancient poisonous fish. Unfortunately poison doesn't keep well in stone, so if we've discovered poisonous fish we can't yet tell yet. Hope is not lost! We can assign poison typing to an ancient fish (no mammals are electric). And I've the King's Pick of ancient fish.
Helicoprion, edestus, dunkleosteus, jawless fish, placoderms, acanthodians, cartilaginous fish, bony fish, sarcopterygians...
I'm picking Dunkleosteus. Rocky-faced, I think there's Rocky growths on top of dunkleosteus' armored face, high defense, low speed. When taking enough damage the rocks come off, raising the speed, lowering defense, and oozing a poisonous film from the seams in the armor.
Probably really bad in the ocean, with a weakness to water, but good in a lot of other places
pokèmonize yourself!!!!
spin this wheel to see your pokemon type
spin this one to see how you'll look like

okay okay so! For 'cyllene with modern sneasel' idea please consider Cyllene who is strick, perma-frowner while being a secret softie who's ace mon is a weaville (Abra hates battling so Abra is a non-battle partner only) meeting Ingo who is strick, perma-frowner who is a giant enthusiastic softie and has Sneasler as his non-battle partner. I just think it'll be cool.
(wrt this post and comments)
I LOVE IT
also consider, instead of it being a gift egg: modern sneasel/weavile is her battle partner because it's a super rare distortion pokemon. this thing is mysterious and unknown! they need more data! and if this is the baby protag au the protagonist sure isn't getting that data. so. cyllene does it. she uses it as a battle partner while they're out (which works GREAT because modern sneasel are bloodthirsty, territorial little bastards, it turns out) and takes notes on its attacks, apparent typing, demeanor, habits, diet, etc. theories on what it will eventually evolve into (the supposed alternate sneasler).
then she meets ingo who's like ?!?!?! at her partner because guess what MODERN SNEASEL ARE ALSO NATIVE TO UNOVA

The thing about Ash and Gary's relationship is--literally no one's good opinion seems to matter to Ash as much as Gary's. Ash has never shied away from showing his emotions, but the rawest of those displays are usually reserved for near-death scenarios or goodbyes. Except for Gary. Ash cries multiple times because of Gary, with the most notable occasion being outside the Viridian Gym when Misty says Gary is already way ahead of him.
When he returns home as champion of the Orange Islands, he's most vehement about telling Gary he won--moreso than his mother, Professor Oak, or even Brock (who he just reunited with.)
He's constantly trying to impress Gary and show that he's worthy of Gary's time and attention. Desperately so, in most cases. The thought of Gary believing he's not strong enough eats away at him for most of his early journey, motivating him to keep going and getting him riled up at the mere mention of Gary's name.
He keeps his half of their shared pokeball with him in his bag, which, as we see as the series progresses, is something he only does with mementos of people who are incredibly dear to him (Misty and May being the other two.)
When Ash is disheartened after losing in the Battle Pyramid, the only person who can get through to him and motivate him to keep trying is Gary, who writes him a postcard and shows up as a vision in Ash's subconscious telling him that, now that he's beaten Gary, he better not lose to someone else. Ash immediately perks up and resolves to beat Brandon.
When they meet up in Sinnoh, Ash spends the whole ordeal with the shieldon being upset and feeling inadequate because Gary doesn't agree with his plan to go after the pokemon hunters head-on. Like, he spends the whole episode in turmoil over Gary thinking he still isn't capable enough, and when Gary finally agrees that he had the right idea all along, Ash is over the moon.
And god--don't get me started on their Journeys reunion. That could be another post all on its own.
Moral of the story: Ash craves Gary's attention and approval more than anyone else's. Also, they're in love. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

These are some pretty good ideas and they could work if they had been at it long enough to get so many legendaries and mythicals, though in Dev's case, his father could have bought most of them.
Here are my own thoughts if you want to consider them as well. There are some Pokemon from Sw/Sh as well as S/V, but I think they could work just as good.
Hazel
Rockruff, Carbink, Diancie, Roggenrola/Boldore (gift maybe from Antony. Could evolve into a Gigalith with help from Dev or Jazmine), Minior (could be a violet core or maybe indigo), and either Anorith or Shieldon (both are adorable and seems fitting she’d have at least one fossil Pokémon, plus their evolutions are both really cool if she were to evolve them)
Jasmine
Jigglypuff, Meloetta, Eevee (tiny, adorable, and cuddly looking like her), Kirlia, Whismur, Kricketune
Winn
Riolu/Lucario, Keldeo, Noibat, Type: Null/Silvally (seems like the kind of Pokémon Winn would want to take care of if they knew what it went through), Raboot, Yamper/Boltund (either evolution could work)
Dev
Shinx (shiny, because why not? Could also act as a service animal to detect lactose in his food), Impidimp/Morgrem/Grimmsnarl (seems fitting where they could look/act mean but aren’t. Also, can Gigantamax, either as is or making the Max Soup), Charcadet (could evolve into either Armarouge or Ceruledge), Iron Jugulis (feel it could be something his dad would get him either as a bribe to make him quiet or have him cooperate for some scheme), Porygon/Porygon2/Porygon-Z (seems fitting with the drones and if Dev has any computer and coding skills he picked up from his dad), Rotom (similar to the Porygon, but could be used more for messing with classmates, especially Hazel, but would also mess with Dev if he were to take it too far)
sort of continuation/redo of this fairly odd parents a new wish x pokemon post but this time I decided to give the kids legendaries and mythicals but based on what game I think suits them best (sorry that scarlet and violet isn’t on here even though it might fit a character. haven’t played the game but hoping I can get it for Christmas from my family)
Dev: Gen 4 (Diamond, Pearl, Platinum)
Hazel: Gen 6 (X and Y)
Winn: Gen 5 (Black, White, Black 2, White 2)
Jasmine: Gen 7 (Sun and Moon, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the other pictures: I feel like Jasmine would probably use Necrozma for her legendaries. Btw I I gave her tapu lele because I ran out of mythicals 💔💔 Hazel would probably mega evolve her Diancie and use Hoopa’s other form. Winn would probably fuse their reshiram and zekrom. And nothing else for Dev because I’m pretty sure I made him WAY too overpowered and that’s completely my fault I’m so sorry 😭😭
I could definitely see Jasmine using the Sword and Shield legendaries and mythicals as well. For Winn I was stuck between Gen 5 and Gen 3 because I feel like they would love Rayquaza and the Gen 3 legendaries but I ultimately went with Gen 5
Anyways this song definitely gives the vibes I hope i give with these teams 😭😭 shoutout to army of lovers their songs are so good
Feel free to share your thoughts or different ideas you have in reblogs because I would love to hear them :33
Also tysm for coming to another crossover yap session !! It means so much <3 i hope you have a great day/night wherever you are in the world !!
God I wish I could draw these well but I can’t draw Pokemon that well 😭😭
About to give like every single kid show ive ever watched pokemon teams 💀💀

hey rai! its me, salem! i hope you've been doing good! im sorry its been a while since ive last talked to you, but after a lot of thinking, ive decided that i want to become a ghost type leader! ive lived in hearthome for most of my life (except for when i initially talked to you, my team and i were visiting some family in unova for a little bit) so i guess i jist felt much more at home here than i would have working in canalave city. not that i would have enjoyed it mind you, it just felt more like a calling to be here, if that makes sense?
ive started learning the ropes a couple days ago! its really tough, but me and my pokemon are tougher! ive decided to go for speed and unpredictability, since nora (my froslass), sparky (my rotom) and umbra (my gengar) are pretty dang fast. that and sparky and umbra love messing with people and myself, no matter how many times i tell them to behave or at the very least tone it down. since i use the same style of pokeball for all three of them and very similar stickers (save for one or two variations so i can tell whose who), i think it might be hard for trainers to guess who im gonna send out.
im not entirely sure how that particular plan is gonna pan out, im still working on it and some back up plans just in case thinga go south! my other three pokemon ingot (my shieldon), athena (my lucario), and rocky (my steelix) are super excited to hear how my day went! im not entirely sure if im able to have them be on the sidelines watching or not, so i keep them in their pokeballs and bring them out when im done for the day.
It's good to hear back from you!
Becoming a leader is a big responsibility, and quite the challenge at times.
If I'm being honest, being a Gym Leader is a bit more of a formality, it's what your gym will represent and stand for that really matters.
For example:
Surge in Kanto is known for his gym, but he also is heavily involved in the military, so there isn't a lot he gives back into the community through his gym.
However Volkner is big into alternative energy and his gym also helps power Sunnyshore, and he helps other towns and cities become much more green.
He also has been helping smaller regions have dependable energy.
Fantina is a leader who is more of a celebrity, but does encourage self confidence and lifting up one another.
She's a fine celebrity but her gym is a little underwhelming.
We always need individuals who want to help improve the world, or help in the community.
Before becoming a gym leader, why not apprentice under a gym, or work for a professor first?
Just so you can get a full taste of what it's like to be involved in those fields.
Actually would you ever consider volunteering at the Ranger base?
We have an adoption event and a cultural festival for Giratina coming up soon and having some hands who know ghost types would be very helpful.
Definitely consider some of these options before you try to consider opening a gym.
Either way I know you will do very well!

Rise Pokémon AU - Part 1
(Dusts off my Pokémon Essential Handbook that I bought like five years ago and prepares to merge two of my all-time favorite pieces of media) Here you go dude @dusky-star
Raph
Growlithe  -Raph has a weakness for dog Pokémon, so it really wasn’t hard for Growlithe to slide her way onto his team. Despite Growlithes usually being incredibly obedient Pokémon, this one ended up coming into Raph’s possession because she couldn’t pass any of her tests for the police Pokémon unit -She was just very energetic and distractible, and no one could figure out how to train her. But Raph was more that happy to have her on his team, even if she can’t do any tricks or even catch a ball to save her life
Bastiodon  -Raph found her as a Shieldon when she was very young and had been left behind by her herd. He took her to a nearby Pokémon Center (after spending about ten minutes convincing her not to bite him) and they got her healed up in no time at all, and even encouraged Raph to catch her, because it was far less risky than trying to find and re-introduce her to her herd. So he did -She was very cautious around him at first, but overtime she grew to trust him a lot more and they became ver close. She actually ended up evolving into Bastiodon in order to protect him from a group of Pokémon hunters
Chansey  -Raph’s had her ever since she was a Happiny. Back then, she was very curious and often got herself into trouble without meaning to. Raph had to constantly be watching her so she wouldn’t wander off (she fell into a river once. Raph does not want to talk about it) -After evolving into Chansey, she still kept a bit of that curious nature, but she became a lot more responsible and began living up to her name as a caretaker Pokémon. She’s the mom of Raph’s team, and is always looking out for her fellow Pokémon, whether Raph and his brothers know them or not. Her calming aura is also really good for helping Raph with his anxiety
Torterra  -Just like Raph, she’s a gentle giant. Just be careful not to get her riled up -She gets along fairly well with any Pokemon Raph and his brothers come across, and can often be found letting the smaller Pokemon on Raph and his brothers’ teams ride on her back. But despite her usually tame personality, she’s Raph’s strongest Pokémon and very protective of him and the rest of his team. Even if Raph himself is a force to be reckoned with, Torterra won’t hesitate to come out of her Pokéball on her own to fight a threat without Raph asking
Igglybuff -Raph’s had her ever since she was an egg that he got from the Pokémon Professor in his and his brothers’ hometown, and she only hatched very recently, so she’s a very big handful, despite being very tiny -An absolute powerhouse of bubbly energy. Constantly bounding around with little regard for anything else. She tires Raph out so frequently that he has to ask his other Pokémon to look after her when he can’t (it’s Happiny all over again). But he still loves her so, so much. She may not understand a whole lot of what’s going on, but she loves Raph and the rest of his Pokémon about as much as physically possible for a little ball of eternally renewable chaotic energy
Teddiursa  -Yet another case of “Cute Pokémon Pulled At Raph’s Heartstrings And Now They’re On His Team”. Raph fed her once after meeting her in the forest, and she kept following him and refused to go away. Then Chansey ended up popping out of her Pokéball to greet her, and at that point, Raph couldn’t say no -Despite being so small and seemingly helpless, she’s actually very strong and could beat a much larger Pokémon if she really wanted. She’s protective of her team, though very few take her seriously because of her appearance. She’s very close to evolving, though, so Raph’s brothers may want to think twice before making fun of her cute and cuddly nature again

Note
Good evening professor, I’m a graduate student studying ancient Pokémon behavior in relation to current behavior patterns of revived Pokémon. I was very confused in the Galar region recently by the combination of fossils used for resurrection of Pokémon. I was curious because my Aerodactyl, Shieldon, and my Rampardos have been avoiding my Dracovish. Do you have any idea why they might behaving this way? Especially since they have interacted with other resurrected Pokémon from other regions?
Hmmm. Well, I’ve spoken a bit about the Galar Fossil Pokemon before, but I suppose I didn’t really go into why they’re not often the most popular amongst other Pokemon, including their own kind.
First, I’d like to say; your other Pokemon are reacting perfectly normally to this.
I’ve mentioned previously that these particular fossil Pokemon, Dracovish for example, are a bit like sewing together parts from two completely different Pokemon and the result somehow functioning. This analogy is still apt here. If you take a moment and imagine a Trainer who is sewn together, perhaps with Pokemon parts, perhaps not, you may understand a bit what this looks like to other Pokemon. Even ones who are friendly and alright with new Pokemon will often find these off-putting at best, and those who are a bit more naturally wary may in fact attack them on sight.
This is where it can get a bit difficult, however. As the next question is likely; What do you do next?
I don’t know.
In theory, your Dracovish could be in massive amounts of pain and discomfort. Or, they could be completely comfortable and happy. There’s no real, solid, foolproof way to tell, because these Pokemon aren’t natural, and we don’t have the natural behaviors of their original parts, either.
In this case, you’ll have to decide for yourself what to do. I personally do not think these Pokemon should exist, but does that mean that once created they should be... Undone, for lack of a more polite word? I’m not sure about that either. I can’t necessarily say that that’s the best way forward either, since we can’t prove they’re in pain either.
You will have to decide for yourself what to do with your Dracovish. If you want advice on how to help your Pokemon adjust to them, I can certainly help with that! If you need advice or help with caring for Dracovish, I can likely write something up regarding that. If you want, I can check about my contacts, and see if anyone knows more about their behaviors, and might be able to help you get a clearer picture. If you end up thinking that destroying them will be best to prevent or end suffering, if you think they are, then you may have to talk to your local Nurse Joys and PokeCenter Employees. It isn’t something commonly spoken about, nor is it pleasant, but this is an option if you and they agree that your Dracovish is in pain that cannot be managed. But, I’d rather that be a last resort, and I think you would too.
Whatever routes you decide to pursue, I do wish you the best of luck. This isn’t going to be an easy Journey with this Pokemon, I think, but with luck, I hope its a long and happy one!
