#too like the lightning#i was enjoying this scene and then donatien had to come along and ruin it π#i do like though how the β¨genderedβ¨ society as opposed to the society that supposedly doesn't see gender; is the one that allows people to#be identified as the gender they want.#i had a whole rant after that but i reloaded the ducking page and don't want to retype more. so.#short version is; the society in tltl is just performative in regards to gender; bc they still see gender and there's likely still unconsci#-ous stereotyping that goes on bc of what sex people look like even though they don't openly acknowledge it and call everyone by neutral pr#-onouns#and it's a similar kind of performative to the βalliesβ who call all trans people 'they' even if that isn't the person's preferred pronoun;#which is still misgendering; the same way it's misgendering to call dominic 'they' instead of 'he' since that's clearly what he prefers#like yeah abolish gender stereotypes + roles and feel free to personally abolish gender;#but also there's always going to be people who enjoy having a gender/binary gender#like idfk what gender is but it's not /just/ a social construct even though certain elements of it are
