OK finished misericorde vol.2 and been able to sit with some of it for periods in-between play that's allowed me to stew on it. This is going to be a messy collection of thoughts mostly due to the nature of this vol. Yeah spoilers ahoy of course i'll try my best not to reveal the final twist though

So, as i've already said, the music is so good. If the dev grew in confidence over the course of composing for the first volume, that confidence is back in full swing for a really cohesive and deeply enjoyable round 2.

Many times i've wanted to liveblog moments as a reaction but i really wanted to forgoe liveblogging it, even if i did end up having some parts.I think my more severe responses to moments haven't been posted up yet so

can we talk about angela and hedwig i have been fucking dying to talk about them and their whole situation they have trusted themselves into (but in hedwig's case maybe not fully understood). Like. Angela just coming out swinging in this almost hypocritical fashion of 'hey these women are just going to use you for your body as a cheap game they started with catherine and I (unlike them) will give you what you desire but dole it out in measured ways to you because i am above that while i see a self in you i am not like that nor will i treat you like that' and it's fucking WILD. it's wild. it's so juicy both for the interpersonal relationship and the mostly implied or unsaid aspect of that but also yeah woo yeahh woo nun yuri like in a way i guess she has actually perhaps fallen for hedwig (hurray for her pathetic demeanor being utterly captivating) as we can surmise from her pain near the end (oh am i going to lap up whatever drama comes between these two in vol.3) BUT LIKE IT BEING BUILT UPON each other trusting their judgement, it's so good, so good she had hedwig on a fucking leash, that knife turned her on or whatever, the butt flash? prepared to keep her under her sway like it doesn't even feel devious, perhaps it starts off as just keeping her in check but damn. goddam. it's hot it's really fuckign great character writing, the pain hedwig feels over the whole thing, conflicted through her faith and understanding of it (aquinas says it's sinful. hildergaard says it's sinful < LIKE AAAAAUUUUHGHH) AND THIS:

That isn't even all i could get into the whole 'hedwig realising she's a lesbian thing' but there is much there that could be discussed and i am far too tired to get into the weeds of it, and ill equipped to boot to really figure out how i'd want to talk about it too.

THEY JUST FUCKING DROP that catherine was stabbed twice before death. HELLO?? i feel like hearing that information rejigged something in my brain...was it mentioned in vol.1 at some point? i wouldn't put it past myself to believe that hedwig did forget that information but like. it severely narrowed down suspects to the obvious nun who wields and dagger and knows very well how to use it. except. well. eustace was always right.

unrelated but laughing at moira just dropping she absolutely knows how to cleanly cut of limbs and she says this as lightly as one might ask about the weather. excellent stuff and if i was to still suspect anyone, that at the very least had me still suspecting her up until tatiana spoiled the fun (hehe)

THE EYES THE EEEEEYYYYYYYESSSS did vol.1 have eyes...i feel like it might've. the fact they only start appearing AFTER hedwigs uh...trip? i guess we'll call it. Is it like. symbolism of voyeurism? her exhibitionist habits shes developing? someone looking at the narration? something haunting the space? the words? the fact that only we (the audience) can see these things. tatiana having no eyes revealed but the world being covered in eyes? the general effect of hedwig being overwhelmed by everything new and being observed as part of that? It comes and goes and i have to wonder what is the "trigger" for it because one scene will fade it in and another might have it for a few backgrounds then none at all.

There's many small things i've tried to keep mental notes on: eustace knowing what hedwig's whole anchoress deal is, the reaction the bishop had at the end 'you are here to keep the devils at bay' or something...? hedwig's whole...other self that manifests after her trip...the way hedwig reacted to words of the scripture/rights (fainting again...much like in vol.1? there is something to that perhaps).

i think there are things earlier on i may have forgotten that i wanted to talk about but ah well. the latter half of the game sticks in my mind more. Was glad to get more margaret in this one she feels the most elusive and hardest to grasp of the lot. Oh i guess the mention of catherine having really red hair strikes me as particular but hmm not sure what to make of it.

i suppose my biggest question isn't what's going on with our mystery narrators/editors (hehe) but rather...who was hedwig telling this story to?

When they get to the kitchen, Hirano finally understands why Miyano seemed so uncertain.

There’s pastries everywhere. Everywhere. Every single surface where a tray or plate with pastries can be placed, has at least one on it. In the center of the small-scale bakery that his friends’ kitchen turned to, Sasaki is sitting on a chair at the table. His back is visibly tense, and his head is resting in his hands.

It’s a somewhat heartbreaking sight, and Hirano steps up to him to try to cheer him up. It’s his first time seeing his friend in years, he wants to reassure him that he’s glad to see him, pastries or not.

“Hey, it’s been a while,” Hirano greets him. The ginger relaxes at feeling a friendly hand on his shoulder, and looks up. There’s bags under his eyes, but Hirano is glad that this doesn’t seem to be one of his worst crises. Those had been… tough to help with, back in highschool. “How are you?”

“Well,” Sasaki sighs with a self-deprecating smile, gesturing at the state of their kitchen. His boyfriend is currently running around, wrapping and packing half of the pastries. Even with just half left out, it looks like a lot. “Could be better, but not the worst. I’m sorry about our dinner.”

With a promise to be back in a few minutes, Miyano steps out of the apartment with his arms filled with containers. Surely, he’s on his way to give their neighbors a very pleasant surprise.

“Nothing to be sorry for, all of this looks delicious,” Hirano states. At Sasaki’s skeptical expression, he pulls up his texts with Kagiura, showing his friend the string of excited kaomojis and heart emojis in response to the information on their dinner menu. “And someone is extremely excited to come eat a good chunk of these.”

The texts pull a warm, relieved smile out of Sasaki. It leaves Hirano a bit perplexed; he knew Sasaki doesn’t mind Kagiura, but he didn’t think he was fond enough for a smile like that.

Then again, he figures that as a baker you don’t just give big boxes of your best bread for free to someone you don’t feel at least some affection for.

“I’ll say though, I don’t think our blood sugar can sustain a lot of dinners like these. Our thirties probably won’t be that generous,” Hirano continues. The comment almost makes Sasaki feel down again, until he hears the rest: “So, how about we prepare it together next week? And the weeks after, assuming this all goes well.”

“Well, if you insist. It will be nice to cook together,” Sasaki accepts the offer. Now that he’s more calm, he takes a second to look at Hirano. Putting aside the obvious subtle changes that come with getting older, he’s glad that Hirano hasn’t really changed. Or well, not for the most part. “You let your hair grow out?”

As if just reminded of its existence, Hirano pulls his low ponytail forward to show the length. “Oh, yeah! At first I was too lazy to get it cut, but then Kagi-kun really took to it.”

A large hand comes up to gently hold the end of the ponytail, and Sasaki hums pensively. “Do you ever style it differently? A braid or something?”

“Ah yes, mostly because of Kagi-kun. He’s pretty good at it thanks to his sisters,” Hirano explains. Before they can continue their conversation, Miyano comes back with his hands empty and a satisfied expression.

“Oh! Right, I didn’t comment on it before, but long hair really suits you, Hirano-senpai!” Miyano gushes when he sees Sasaki admiring it. They expect him to continue, but instead he changes subjects. “Unrelated, but I gave the last box to this really tall stranger at the end of the hallway-”

Just then, the doorbell of the apartment rings.

Hirano quickly checks his phone, and heads toward the door before remembering that this isn’t his own apartment. He stops awkwardly and points toward the door. “Ah, that must be Kagi-kun…”

With a nod, Sasaki stands up and joins Hirano at the door along with Miyano. The blond can practically feel Miyano vibrating with excitement behind both of them, extremely thrilled at finally meeting the fabled boyfriend.

Sasaki opens the door, and has to stifle a laugh at seeing a wide-eyed Kagiura happily munching on a ham and cheese croissant. He’s nicely dressed and his hair looks a bit damp still, clearly having hurried there after a post-practice shower.

“Hi, Kagiura-kun,” Sasaki greets with a gentle smile. He passes a napkin to the taller man, which he gratefully uses after taking the last bite.

“Hello, Sasaki-san!” Kagiura answers cheerfully. The ginger makes space for him to come in, and the tall man does with a small bow.

kagibashi:

Niibashi looks up from his sketches, his face warming up at the feeling of Kagiura’s hand on his thigh. He turns to his best friend with a scowl, ready to ask him what the fuck he’s been doing today and to rip him a new one if the answer isn’t good enough.

But those dark, round eyes stare at him with such intensity that not a single word makes it out of his parted lips. The brunet looks at him intently, studies his expression. Niibashi lets out a breathy, questioning noise when those long fingers move higher, tracing along the inseam of his jeans.

The artist is too lost in the sensations, his long-buried attraction and Kagiura’s expression that he doesn’t notice how close his friend is until it is too late.

“What are y-” Niibashi’s whispered question gets cut off with a kiss. He knows he should be freaking out, pushing Kagiura off him, hell, probably yelling at him too. But the grip on his thigh is a little desperate, and the brunet’s other hand is buried in his hair, so Niibashi melts into it instead.

They make out for what feels like an eternity, and Niibashi is now more acquainted with Kagiura’s tongue and the inside of his mouth than he ever thought he would be. At one point the hand on his thigh moves to his waist, easily pulling him closer so he’s straddling Kagiura’s lap.

There’s a minuscule part of the artist’s brain that is screaming at him, warning him of a very important detail he’s overlooking, but Niibashi feels too good to pay it attention. He loops his arms around Kagiura’s neck to pull him impossibly closer, driven crazy by the fact that his friend is so fucking huge it feels like he hovers over Niibashi even with his vantage point on the man’s lap.

That detail his brain has been trying to cling to doesn’t stay in the background for long. For some strange reason, Niibashi feels the urge to open his eyes and glance in the direction of the other sofa.

Panicked fuchsia eyes directly meet Hirano’s bright blues, the man leaning over the back of that sofa. Watching both of them intently.

Violently, Niibashi pulls away from the kiss and pushes Kagiura as far as their positions can allow. He feels the instant build up of dread fill his stomach, making him so nauseous he thinks he’ll pass out. For the first time in years, his vision blurs slightly with tears. 

Kagiura is taken, practically married. Niibashi should have never reciprocated that kiss. How could he just go along like that? How could he be so stupid-

His thoughts only scramble more when he turns to look back at the blond. Hirano frowns at them, though there’s a distinct lack of anger or betrayal in his expression. He just looks kind of impatient. Is that a fucking pout? “Why did you stop? The view was great.”

Dazed, Kagiura looks from Niibashi to his boyfriend, and back. Then his eyes widen, and his expression turns sheepish. “Ah, I think I got carried away. I may have forgotten to… explain.”

“You forgot to- Akira! No wonder he looks so scared,” Hirano groans, one of his hands coming up to rub at his temple.

Niibashi feels like he’s getting pranked.

Anyways I'll start with the thing I've poured the most time into: Pokemon. I almost never make fakémon but I've made 2 so far: a Paradox pokemon Iron Queen and a legendary pokemon that's based on horror as a genre, other than that I have a pokedex list that even at font size 7 on Google docs (any smaller and it's illedgeable) it's like 14 pages, and at that size Google starts to lag, I've also done a full pokedex with stats and everything (not individual stats but base stat total) in a Google sheets and i had to split it into 2 sheets because over 500 pokemon pokemon spread over 4 mini sheets lags Google as well so I split it between 2 sheets with generations 1-4 on the first on and 5-9 on the second sheet.

This is a screenshot of the first generation from mobile, copy and paste most of that information for each form of each pokemon (at least ones with stat/type changes so for example partner Pikachu counts as a different form but not spiky eared pichu) and yeahhh it overwhelms Google a lot, I also have several boxes full of my favorite pokemon as well in pokemon ultra moon as well as maxed out the time in pokemon y, I don't yet have a Nintendo switch so I can't transfer those pokemon yet so that's a little sad but they just means I can still poke-amie them 🥰

I also play a lot of minecraft but there isn't much to talk about with that, same with batman Arkham, video games with little creativity and are very straight lined stories are difficult to really hyperfixate about because what are you going to say? And experience that everyone else has had? Now minecraft is not included in this but when you play alone there isn't much you can really talk about that excites you besides what projects you've done/are planning. I also enjoy mega man and am on summit c-side in celeste (with every other stage up to then beaten all a-sides beaten, all b-sides beaten, all but summit and core c-sides beaten and have not beaten where capitalism has not corrupted... THE MOOOON (I understand that's not the meme but that's the level)

Now in terms of non digital media (excluding music we'll get to that) i like to play magic thr gathering, i don't like their current moto of "power creep so "people will keep buying" even tho people still buy our product and since Commander is popular we'll make all of our products for that" so I just make theoretical decks online, mostly ones that are themed because it's fun making pirate themed decks and things like that. Another game I'm really obsessed with is Exploding Kittens it's really fun and I've gotten every expansion up to this point and yahh I just really enjoy that game. Otherwise if I know people irl I try to play rpgs as I have a BUNCH of dnd minis I've painted, he'll I got a big dragon for Christmas a few years back and here's what he looks like:

I'm also making a Kirby rpg and a Mario party board game but I REALLY need to get to work on it as I haven't been working on them. I also love writing stories and am currently writing a book, I'm studies character development from YouTube videos to ensure I don't accidently write static characters as the main characters but I LOVE the concepts I made for it I also used to like reading but my mother kept mocking me for "reading erotica" books when 1 it was before the author started making them kinky 2 I didn't fucking KNOW they were erotic so I stopped reading because she kept making fun of me and pretty much just telling me (indirectly) that it was gross that I was reading that stuff even though I didnt know that's what it was

In terms of music I love dragonforce and will go off on how cool some of their music is and also like... ok there's too many that I enjoy to list off but just know I like metal rock and pop (some pop modern pop is veerrrryyy generic and bad) and hell there are stupid like rap Chord thing that i hear CONSTANTLY and I just hate that stupid Mario ds mini game instructions sounding music that fucking everyone is listening to because now even MUSIC has gotten 'safe' these days and i really hate it

Other than all of that what I'm needing about may change from day to day or week to week depending on what I've been doing

Oh one last note: I do also enjoy hypnosis and dronification as non kinks as well has dronification is just... SO helpful i can't focus for the life of me which is why I still don't have my damned drivers license or even past the first page of my book yet and dronification pretty much FORCING you to focus on things would be a LIFE SAVER and hypnosis for a similar reason I have a really difficult time truly relaxing due to my living situation so hypnosis helps me relax more, hell I have some trust issues too thanks to being overly cautious in my childhood so it really helps with a lot of things although my biggest trust problem is I either don't trust you at all or I trust you too much lol

It's obvious that Mammon wasn't keen on changing his ways, he was the Prince of Greed after all! So, what else is there to do?

👑Trinket👑 The daughter of Mammon

Personality: Despite being raised by the Sin of Greed, many describe Trinket as the "watered down and more complex version of her father." Yes, she's, as expected, a very spoiled toddler who gets upset easily. But instead of using manipulation or sheer force, she uses persuasion and charm to get what she wants. Something else notable is her possessiveness, being extremely overprotective of the things and people she holds dear

Likes: She has an extensive love of collecting and hoarding. Whether it's instinct or not, collecting was always something that made her happy, especially with tiny objects. Stuffed animals and comfy things are also up there, whenever she's frightened or upset, she'll often hide and try to seek protection herself, and if she's not clinging to the nearest trusted adult, she used things like pillow forts for comfort. Although more of a weird fascination than an interest, she loves bubbles and puts lots of time and effort in the art of bubble blowing, as silly as that sounds. To a point where she was given a device that delivered that purpose, which we'll get to later. Finally, it'd be a new brainer to mention her love for clowns, since she lives with them, they're hard to ignore, and if her papa is a clown, then she must be one too!

Dislikes: How this developed is unknown, but Trinket has a deep hatred for birds. Doesn't matter what type, either big or small, dangerous or not, once she sees one, she'll go out of her way to chase it and scare it away (sorry Ars Goetias). Another thing she can't handle are large crowds, similar to her father, she doesn't take being within crowds very well, but is perfectly ok with being up on a stage, since it creates a clear border between her and the crowd. Lastly, she hates rude and disrespectful people, she can't stand the sight of her family or friends getting bullied, so anyone who messes with them, they'll face the consequences. . .

Headcanons & Abilities

Her abilities:

☆ Eating inedible items without any affect (hot coals, soap pieces, etc.) Which allows her to power her special device: The Trumpet Gun

-Gifted to her by Wally Wackford, Trinket's Trumpet is the perfect device for a professional bubble blower. With just a push of the trigger, she's not only able to make millions of bubbles instantly, it also can create fire

☆ Even without her trumpet, Trinket can still breathe fire! On the downside, however, she doesn't have much control over the ability whenever she's not using her trumpet, so yes, there is some carnage. . .

☆ Despite her tiny legs, and being well, four, Trinket can walk surprisingly long distances without getting tired

☆ Something others find unnerving about Trinket is her extensive knowledge on bombs and explosives, considering Mammon's old performer (aka Fizzarolli) was an explosive survivor, having him replaced with basically a walking nuke is kinda weird. The good news is the bombs she creates are mostly harmless. Mostly. . .

Headcanons☆

☆ When Mammon first got Trinket, she almost immediately became another one of his brand faces. But unlike the twins, all the content surrounding her is very kid friendly, because kids are a lot harder to entertain than adults, therefore, more expensive to care for

☆ Despite being only a child, Trinket is never nervous when on stage and preforming in front of others. In fact, most of the time, she doesn't ever need to act or hide her emotions. She views performance as a form of play, so she acts like her regular self!

☆ Demons alike, regardless of age, can be instantly charmed by her cuteness! (Move over Fizzy, there's a new cutie patootie in town!) which is what she uses to get what she wants

☆ Reported by Mammon himself, Trinket is weirdly warmer to the touch compared to any other toddler. And it's not because of fur either, that's entirely her body heat

☆ Inside Trinket's room, there's actually a pillow fort beside her bed, called "Trinket's Tent." There, she likes to hide her treasures, a wooden case filled with the tiny things she collects. She considers her fort a place of safety, and only lets those she cares about inside (i.e: her father, the Glam Sisters, and Wally) So if you want a spot in that tent, you'll have to work for it

☆ Whereabouts of Trinket's mother and background are a complete mystery, according to the public, a good portion of hell barely knows she exists! But arriving roughly 6 months after Fizzarolli quit, led to conspiracy theories and rumors of where Trinket came from. But in Mammon's words, "She just kinda happened!"

☆ Another thing most impressive about her room is on one of the walls, labeled "My Friends and Family!" On the wall, is a art mural consisting of portraits of her, Mammon, both Glam sisters, and Wally. Each portrait done by the respected family members, as well as their signatures and painted handprints. Placing a drawing of yourself on this wall is the highest honor, according to Trinket, and can only be earned by gaining her trust

☆ And as expected, she doesn't like when others do things to the wall or take pictures of it without her consent, cause, in her words, "it's not done yet!"

☆When in public, Trinket is extremely easy to lose. She has an unhealthy habit of wandering off and not staying in one place, which leads the adults having to carry her most of the time as to not lose her

☆ Even without friends, Trinket still found ways of having fun, which involved running around, collecting various items. And now that she's does have friends, innocent little adventures turn into something else. . .

☆~Relationships~☆

Mammon: From an outsider looking in, you'd expect their relationship to be a toxic one, considering his old relationship with Fizzarolli was abusive as well. But in reality, that's not entirely true, where yes, Trinket does love her dad and Mammon loves the amount of revenue she makes, making their relationship somewhat one-sided, however, what people don't know is that these two are far more complicated than what they let on. Cause according to Mammon, Trinket is the only one he has in terms of relationships and thankfully, his past with Fizzarolli made him a tiny bit smarter. He learns to nurture and care for Trinket not just to have her stay longer, but to prove others wrong, that he can be a parent! With his status, Mammon's biggest concern is having Trinket taken away from him, so it's safe to say that he became pretty overprotective of his daughter. Overall, the two are slowly building a father-daughter bond, and you can bet that Mammon spoils Trinket rotten with all sorts of luxuries!

The Glam Sisters: Admittingly, to say that the two didn't care for Trinket would be an understatement. The twins initially wanted nothing to do with her, and the fact she was getting more attention than them, they couldn't go a day without hating on each other, let alone a four-year-old toddler. But they soon noticed that their boss became a lot friendlier to the workers who are nice to Trinket, and that changed their relationship fast! At first, it was small things, like doing Trinket's hair and makeup before shows or getting Trinket water after shows, then they went as far as to design her a new stage costume, to which they were quickly favored by their boss. It wasn't long for the whole charade to turn into a competition, trying to win over Trinket and gain their boss's favoritism, all the while Trinket was none the wiser, only thinking their doing it out of kindness. And despite caring for Trinket primarily for the perks, they do genuinely care about her, they just refuse to admit it; they were actually the ones who came up with and created "Trinket's Tent." In her eyes, Trinket views the twins as "cool aunts," who let her get away with anything, and given their endless amounts of perks from the boss, they heavily believe they are

Wally Wackford: With all the nurturing Trinket already receives, it's safe to say that Wally is the most caring out of the main four. Unlike most the workers, Wally's the fondest of taking care of kids, mostly due to his home life, and quite enjoys spending time with Trinket, something which she entirely accepts. Wally is Mammon's inventor, so he's always working, and on rare occasions, he often makes little devices for her to play with. And although Trinket does enjoy the gifts, she can't help but worry for his health

Asmodeus: News about Trinket sort of came out of the blue for a lot of the inhabitants, the other Deadly Sins were no exception. Upon finding out that Mammon, of all demons, had a daughter, Ozzie was a mess of emotions! Relieved, shocked, and most importantly, confused. With how well he knows Mammon, he was immediately set on knowing where exactly Trinket came from, to which he's so far unsuccessful on getting an answer. Other than that, Trinket's relationship with Ozzie is a pitiful one, Ozzie thinking that, because she's being cared for by Mammon, she's possibly neglected to some extent. Doting on her and wanting to get Trinket out of what he thinks is a "toxic environment." All the while, Trinket doesn't take much interest in the Sin of Lust and finds him "weird," mostly due to her father's many warnings on Ozzie and the fact she'd only seen him angered and yelling at her dad. And of course, Mammon takes full advantage of her dislike for Oz, feeding her lines to say to Ozzie himself, and since she's a child, she could get away with saying some messed up shi*. . . (Sorry Oz)

Fizzarolli: Unsurprisingly, finding out about Trinket, he was just as shocked and confused as Ozzie was, especially when you consider the short amount of time that passed since he first quit. But upon meeting the young toddler, he quickly went into "older brother mode." Like Asmodeus, he thinks a place under Mammon's care is completely unfit for someone like Trinket, he did work for him after all! and wanted to help. Yet as he got to know her more and about her experiences with Mammon, he learns just how different Trinket's work environment was to his. Of course, she was very oblivious to what he was trying to get from her, going on about how everyone is so nice to her and how great working for her dad is. Information that, respectfully, bewildered him, he was treated like trash, but Trinket suddenly gets off easy? What's going on?! And sure, it could be due to her being a child, but this is Mammon we're talking about! He treats everyone the same! So rather than figuring out the "how," Fizz is trying to figure out the "why." Meanwhile with Trinket herself, as sad as this sounds, she actually likes Fizz more than Ozzie, due to his recognition and because somewhat reassembles her dad

Oliver (Deaf Kid): Oliver has a hard time making new friends, mostly due to his disability, but what made Trinket so interesting to him was, unlike most kids, she quickly recognized that he was deaf. Both were each other's first friends in different ways; Trinket was Oliver's first friend entirely, whilst Oliver was her first friend who's around her age. Despite the obvious communication barrier, the two manage to find temporary workarounds, the most used being a whistle and a whiteboard and marker, both gifted by Trinket herself. It isn't surprising to say that Oliver is a lot shyer than Trinket, who's a massive social butterfly, and although most the time, he'd rather stay in his bubble, there are times where Trinket does push him to be braver, which helped them in forming their current friend group. Overall, the two are the best of friends and bond over their shared love for art and Fizzarolli!

Hi murmiss. I would like to say, first, that I am sorry for denying your request in the beginning. "My Saddest Journey" is a very sensitive topic for me and when I'm asked about it I tend to get emotional. But! I decided to go ahead and provide you with some headcanons. I hope they satisfy you.

First: How do Frank, Ji-woon and Danny feel after everything that happened?

Well they all feel differently. Ji-woon is mostly in the fog and doesn't think much about it. Frank is pouty and very grudgemental towards the reader for a number of reasons, and he may stand to cause some unfortunate trouble in the future. As for Danny- oh, Danny. After seeing how bad the reader has it- and after having a private, sneaky conversation with them- he develops an attraction towards them, a desire to protect them and claim them as his own. But too bad! The reader doesn't like him. Can he fix that though? We'll see.

How does papa Evan feel?

After seeing just how bad the reader is effected, Evan asks Freddy to share what memories of theirs he witnessed, and he realizes a few things. (Plus Herman gave him a very lengthy lecture about how he would wrestle him if he was mean to the reader again). Evan will want to right his wrongs and get to know the reader better.

But do you know how difficult that will be? The reader does not trust him at all. In fact they're so scared to go around him that they more or less entice the Dredge to show up thus causing more bad memories and chaos. Evan is going to have to approach this reader as if they were an abused cat. (Gentle Evan is the best Evan). Once he can get them to talk and share their similarities, there will be fluff and comfort.

The reader opens up faster to the father figures than they do the love interests. This is meant to be practical and funny, but also an indicator of their trauma. Let's use Herman for example because he's head over heels for the reader, and he really is trying his hardest to charm them, but all he gets is polite, cold shoulders in response. And then there's Evan and all he has to do is pat their head and they instantly melt into his arms. Screw you Evan! Kidding, we love our papa bear.

The introduction of Wesker. This will happen much later on but it will be big. Not only will we get to see a completely different side of the reader, but so will Wesker who pretty much gets his arse beat during a trial with them. He's obviously interested after that and wants to learn more about them. The reader picks up on his naughty energy and politely tells him off, but Wesker relents until the reader more or less snaps and humiliates him. "Look, I don't find you attractive, ok? Now please leave me alone. You are making me uncomfortable."

Sucks to be you, Wesker. Can you see Herman smirking in the background? Oh yes you can. Don't worry though, he's not finished. Wesker always gets what he wants. Right?

Micheal being an overprotective, possessive goof. After learning just how sweet, modest and caring this reader is, he can't help but to stake his claim. "Go away. This is MY traumatized hooman. Get your own." Oh Michael... But Michael's kindness and gentility will help the reader relax and open up in many ways.

Ok, this headcanon is one I'm not quite sure if I'll use or not, but I thought it was funny so I'll go ahead and share. It's called the "lift" experiment. Basically the killers want to see if carrying the sad survivors will keep the Dredge away. For example, Michael holding the reader bridal style in his arms for an hour.

This idea is meant to be purely silly, but it could also help the reader open up to touch. Like a trust exercise. I was going to use the biggest boys for it, and some of them fight over who can carry the reader because the reader is modest, quiet and sweet and won't cause them trouble. Who will get to them first, you know? Lol, it's just a silly thought. You guys can tell me if it's worth writing.

Then we have Jeffrey and Caleb who will be the group that the reader is officially placed in next. And those two will be the ultimate father figures. Lots and lots and lots of fluff. Jeffrey also knows which other killers' like the reader romantically and purposely makes them jealous by openly cuddling the reader in public or giving them kisses on their forehead and stuff like that. Let's not forget how insanely protective these two killers are. Eeeek! I can't wait to write them, but it's honestly going to be a while and I'm very slow updating that story.

I was thinking about your point of how it likely never even occurred to the developers to wonder about how the Jubilife settlers understand the clans, since realistically they'd speak different languages, and was trying to figure it out myself. What I ended up thinking was that Kanto/Johto, Hoenn, and Hisui are all islands in close proximity to each other (which I think is actually canon) and their ancestors likely came from the same place and thus they share the same base language, like Latin for the romance languages. They separated long enough ago, and the Hisuian clans are isolated enough, to have created something unique, but because of the Ginkgo Guild traveling/trading between them so much they're still similar enough that if you know one you can probably pick up the others pretty quickly. Kamado obviously would have made it a priority to learn it himself to avoid as many diplomatic incidents as possible, and I can see him encouraging the villagers to do the same for the same reason. The wilderness is dangerous enough without Corps members having to worry about potentially getting hurt due to a language barrier. Fun fact though, apparently in the Japanese version of the game, Kamado actually slips into a different dialect at times.

ok dont get me started on hypothetical languages in the pokemon world i HAVE spent too much time thinking up headcanons for this for no real reason. mostly the main thing here though is that: remember that the galaxy team is made up of people from everywhere. not even just people from the hoenn/johto/kanto landmass, which could reasonably be expected to have some crossover and be possibly mutually intelligible (i could go into this but. that's all headcanon. so we'll just leave it as that) but also from as far away as galar. and if we're setting it kalos war contemporary it wouldn't be massively shocking that a solid chunk of these people who are leaving their homes to try and build a new life are from the region that's actively at war.

so you're gonna have a fuckton of different languages flying around there. languages that are radically different and not necessarily mutually intelligible. (this could actually go some way towards explaining laventon's role in the team if he was there pre-survey corps: going by the character archetypes he seems to be playing off of, i wouldn't be shocked if he was fluent in several languages, and could act as a translator)

so the first thing is that i feel like it would make sense for everyone in the galaxy team to pick up the language the clans speak as a sort of common-ground language. the alternate (or joint) option is that jubilife is actually the origin of a completely new language that's derived from/made up of all the different sources that were being spoken by the various groups. a solid chunk of it—names for native wildlife and geographic features, in particular—comes from hisui, but scientific terms are from galar, building/construction words are hoenn, food terms come from johto, etc. this might actually be the native language the protagonist speaks, if they're the dpp protag and live in modern sinnoh.

ANYWAY. i think it's neat yeah.

god I know I'm so needy and probably annoying but I just love your work so, so much and I was wondering when you might be putting out the LJH AU? I may or may not be emotionally attached to the Little Dove and Baron.

Firstly ❤️❤️❤️❤️ thank you for the ask! Actually - I take that back cause first I need to say pfffft it's never ever annoying to talk about writing/ the stories. Ever. Ever ever. I'm 1000% always down to talk through plotting points and why the character did that thing and this headcanon or that one. Always.

So then secondly, all the love thrown right back at you - both for the ask and for reminding me that I should keep trying to get the WIPs under control and make progress. Trust me when I say I'm right there with you with being invested in the stories and seeing what the characters will do.

Insofar as LJH: The Baron & The Dove is concerned - I've been tempted a few times to start posting that AU just because I adore the relationship that was in the early stages of developing between Helmut and the reader. (And even though I had already plotted and determined that we would be following events of the show regarding his departure down the drain, etc etc I was mad as hell at him for making that choice.)

Ok, so, as things stand right now we pick up the AU during the events of ... if memory serves that's C.11 of LJH? -- [*side note: I halfway considered posting it as an endnote/ alt moment at the end of that chapter but once I got going decided that it'll either turn into a oneshot that is divergent from LJH stemming from that moment in C.11 or become a multi-chapter thing. And no I haven't made up my mind on that yet. Whoops.*] -- and carry on from there. There's five pages/ slightly over 2400 words written out thus far, along with the ending lines, with around 10 more pages of photo inspo and plotting saved to the doc.

As for when we'll see it? I'm not sure yet.

Might hold off in an effort to get to the end of LJH. Might eventually break my resolve and start posting as a multi-chapter, similar to the way I started posting LJH before reaching the end. I ate right through my buffer chapters, too, which is a shame because it was nice to have a good few chapters sitting between what I was posting and what I was writing.

At this point we still have the rest of LJH to go, LJH: Privileges (which might be a oneshot/ might be a multi-chapter depending on how much material I am able to get from what I've plotted for it), LJH: Who We Were Before which is the thing I've been toying with that would compile (and who am I kidding, likely expand upon) flashback moments because I adore reader and her relationships with each of the members of the Zemo family... and also there's the branch of the story related to the AU, because I have something I'm pretty sure will tie in -- mostly because I don't see it as making sense without saying that it follows along that story path. Really helps to have Helmut walking free vs sitting in a prison cell, at least for what I have plotted that I want to explore.

All that being said - there's always the danger that the inspiration will die off before I fully get the chance to explore the concepts the way I want to. I'll do my best to get the WIPs written and posted. Promise. ❤️

Malex thoughts

I was watching some old episodes of Dawson's Creek and it made me want to get some thoughts out. I watched a lot of TV shows growing up. For me, the couples I liked were either ones I casually rooted for or on the rare occasion, a couple took me by such surprise that I became extremely emotionally invested. Malex is the latter.

I've been a fan of Captain Swan (OUAT), Stydia (Teen Wolf), Kurt & Blaine (Glee), Buffy & Angel and lots more. The rare pairings I've been completely lost on, I can name on one hand. Pacey & Joey (my first OTP), Chandler & Monica and Malex. I'd say Destiel on Supernatural too but with them, everything is subtext. I don't think the writers will have the guts to go there, not even with the show ending.

With PJ, I love how they started as antagonists, became really great friends, and then fell in love. For me, PJ vs DJ was incomparable. DJ brought out the worst in each other (my opinion) while PJ showed each other what love was supposed to be. The only thing I hated about DC was the constant back & forth between the two pairings. It lasted until the final moment when you realized PJ was endgame (one of my fears for Malex). I hated that but I was a kid so it didn't bother me as much as it would now.

I loved Chandler & Monica because they started out as friends who fell in love, got married and had all the moments in between before adopting a set of twins. I loved their story because it showed their entire journey. True, the show was a comedy but their story didn't end in season 5 when they started dating. Their story just began.

It's hard understanding writers who feel that only the journey matters. Of course it does. The journey is important. It's what makes you root for a couple but the destination and what happens after is important too. It makes you continue rooting for them, seeing all that angst and pain amounting to something substantial in the end.

So as much as I loved PJ, the fact that they kept us guessing until the last 5 minutes before we realized who she chose was too much. The long, drawn out, multi-season, will they/won't they storytelling style is one I'll never be a fan of.

Which leads me to Malex.

They were two broken boys, both brought up under horrible circumstances, who found the missing piece of themselves in each other. When Alex gave Michael a warm and safe place to stay, it was probably the first act of true kindness Michael had ever experienced and it was made by a boy whose pain and suffering mirrored his own. How incredibly heartbreaking but beautiful is that? That initial bond, that "cosmic" connection stood the test of time. Separated for 10 years and it felt like no time had passed at all.

That first moment in the pilot episode outside his Airstream, you could feel the tension. I remember reading interpretations of that scene. People thought Malex were cold and angry with one another "probably over a girl". Are you kidding me? That tension could only be romantic. But that first kiss at the reunion was when I hopped on the Malex Forever train. One stop only. Endgame.

They set them up so amazingly in the first three episodes. The angst was there but you could also feel the deep love between them. They weren't shown as two guys who had a fling back in high school and then crossed paths again 10 years later, said what the hell and hooked up again. No, they were shown as soulmates. Their level of connection even scared and confused them but they both knew it existed. Their love was pure and true and rare.

With all their history and with so many odds already stacked against them, the writers deciding to throw in a triangle just because they could and doing it in such a rushed and messy way really made me scratch my head.

Carina said she loved the triangle on DC. I honestly think she was the only one. That show was incredibly divided, DJ vs PJ. But as much as I hated the constant back and forth, I'll give the DC writers some credit. Joey's feelings for both were fully touched on. I saw her romantic feelings for Pacey more profound and her feelings for Dawson as true friendship (just my opinion), but both sides were shown in depth.

The problem with Roswell? Where did those feelings come from between M&M? They shared a moment when Maria cried and I took that as the start of a wonderful friendship. I was obviously wrong. They hooked up in the desert. OK I hated it but they were two single people and Maria didn't know about Alex so I accepted. All of a sudden, the feelings were real and Maria was conflicted because of how strong her feelings were. Michael chose to be with Maria because he needed something fresh and new and according to the wonderful Vlamis, someone he also had strong feelings for (still hate that last interview LOL).

I understand where Michael was coming from a little better, as much as I hate it and hate how he went about it by leaving Alex just waiting. He'd been through so much trauma and Max and Isobel kept telling him to stop looking to the past (which, really Max? If someone told you that about Liz, would you listen?? But he died so he gets a pass). But as far as Maria's feelings are concerned, I feel like I missed something.

Between episodes 9 and 10, did the M&M feelings bloom overnight from flirty banter to crush to "OMG this is love"? Was their moment in the desert that mind-blowing that the weirdness of episode 11 happened? I don't get it.

The one thing going against M&M is that Malex is overwhelmingly loved and has been embraced by fans and critics alike.

One critic said it best when they reviewed the finale (Vulture).

"I was intrigued by the possibility of Michael/Maria at first, but the love triangle has been so rushed — with so little time spent on Maria’s developing feelings for Michael — that it’s ended up just making her look terrible. We know from Maria’s conversation with Liz that she hasn’t even spoken to Alex about the situation because she feels too guilty, and so having her accept Michael with open arms is such an odd note. Sure, she doesn’t know Alex is waiting for Michael right at the same moment, but she does know that he’s been in love with Michael for a decade."

And therein lies the problem. A lifelong friendship ruined over a guy (unless Carina makes Alex give his blessing next season which would really make me scream) to push forward a pairing that had little development and makes Maria look bad. One side of the triangle is Michael's soulmate and the other side is the friend with sudden feelings. Not the best character development which is sad because we know how awesome Maria can be and as mad as I am with her, her character that I enjoyed until episode 10 and the actress deserve better. But instead of being original, the writers chose the path always taken. They chose to use her as the odd end of a triangle where, unless they want everyone to hate the show, she will likely be the one forced out so Malex can eventually reunite and for what? Drama?

Season 1 started out really strong and it still had a lot of strong moments in the latter episodes (end scene of episode 9 between Malex, Liz & Jenna being kickass in episode 11, all of episode 12 - my fave of the season, Kyle's confrontation with Jesse etc).

But honestly, I feel like the inclusion of this triangle (amongst other reveals like Noah as the 4th alien) somewhat brought the story down. The writing for M&M felt OOC and was messily done.

Only in recent years have LGBT pairings started becoming more mainstream, given better development and importance in the overall story. With Malex, they have the potential of making Michael and Alex one of the greatest love stories on TV. As much as I love the show, I'm not saying Roswell is on the same level as Breaking Bad or The Sopranos etc. But from all the pairings on the show, Malex is the most profound and has the potential to go down as one of the best on TV. To overcome everything they've been through and still choose each other and their love would be the ultimate happy ending because unlike most male/female pairings that go through mostly regular angst, being two males in a small town, Malex have a whole other level of obstacles to face. That doesn't even include their personal history, the fact that Michael is an alien or that Alex's father is the cause of so much pain between them. Or the fact that Alex is a disabled war veteran. I mean, there is so much amazing points to their story. They are the OTP of OTPs.

But so far, it feels like the triangle is the only major roadblock the writers want to concentrate on and that's the biggest mistake of all.

Season 2 hasn't aired yet. We don't know how little (🤞) or how long (😢) M&M will last. We'll just have to wait and see how it goes and hope that Twitter Carina is not the same as Season 2 showrunner Carina.

But for me, Malex will always be each other's endgame. That's what I saw in the first 3 episodes. That's what I saw in the flashbacks. That's what I saw in Caulfield. Try and convince me differently, show. You'll fail.

first, google search is one of many products google has by now, but search is mostly what people mean when they (e.g.) use "google" as a verb. Anyway, it's not a source at all. Absolutely do not attribute anything to google search (I guess attributing something to Google corporate is fine).

Google's Search product (which I'll call "google", with the lower 'g', for the rest of this) is basically the card-catalog for the internet.

We don't cite the catalog - we cite the site. (See what I did there?)

Coming (finally) to your actual ask:

Google is the company that set what is now the defacto standards for "web brands" who want to resell their technology products to other businesses. As part of becoming the replacement term for "web search", google also modeled out the notion of providing an Application Development Interface (API, in the lingo), which is a whole series of extra programs you create in additional to your actual program (web search, in this case), that you want people to use.

So: API == special interface to a program. Where, as users, we think of google as a website, a web dev might call the website part of google the "user interface". But who cares. Think of the user interface as a ladle, and google "database" of search results as a ridiculously oversized culdrun of porrage. The website gives us users some configuration we can figure out - metal or plastic for your ladel? Would you like a leather wrap on the handle, for your comfort? The API, in contrast, is going to give you the ability to 3print your own spoons, straws, syringes, camel pouches, and multi-beaker headgear. But... how?

Programmers basically just go create "developer accounts". These are free (unlike, e.g. if you wanna be an Apple dev) and really just end up giving more access for the same "digital identity" you probably already have, e.g. if you have an Android phone.

Dev accounts give access to web-pages (and, I assume API but I haven't tried/looked). From those pages we can register "applications" and assign them security tokens, which our programs will need to use to prove they are authorized when they try to "call" google, to get information (or maybe create dev accounts? IDK).

Anyway, our "applications" needn't be huge "enterprise" applications like google. These can bit "trivial" little throw away scripts that we'll use ones or twice to answer a specific (presumably complicated) question or whatever.

Ok, so I know that I'm supposed to be weirded out by the fact that this person clearly created a random brand-new tumblr just to message me anonymously, but honestly, I'm honored.

Look, this tumblr is straight-up blank, aside from the header photo. Is that a homemade handgun btw? It looks like it. Honestly though, I just feel kinda honored. Because this person is either scared enough of me to want anonymity (I can't see why) or scared enough of the reprisal they would face on their main blog (this one makes more sense).

So, again, let's go point-by-point.

I don't think the government should have control over who owns a gun in the same way I don't think the government should have control over who lives and dies. I think that gun ownership should be restricted constitutionally, by removing and replacing the second amendment. In this new amendment, I want only three types of individuals to be allowed to own guns:

1. Those in remote areas who require guns for survival.

2. Collectors of historic guns who can only load and fire them on shooting ranges.

3. Active duty military personnel deployed in foreign soil, and domestic soil only during a foreign invasion.

This list notably excludes cops, active duty military on domestic soil, security details, sport hunters, and everyone else. I have said all this before though.

This would not give a monopoly on power to the government, in fact, it would significantly stymie the power the government already has over people by removing the threat of firearms.

Personally, I think this would stop almost all gun violence, not just mass shootings. The majority of gun killings are committed with guns which were once legally owned (the US is a net exporter of illegal firearms, mostly to Mexico, due to our lax gun laws). Furthermore, while 4 in 5 gun homicides are committed with a gun not owned by the perpetrator, that's not the end of the story. 30% of those guns are stolen, but of those 30%, over 4 in 10 are not reported stolen until after a crime is committed, and 44% of gun owners whose guns were stolen did not respond to attempts to be contacted by police. Of the other 70%, reported lost, in 62% of instances, the legal owner of the gun was unaware of where or when the gun was lost. That is a staggering number of people who are reckless with firearm safety.

A large part of this is due to shoestring purchases, where someone who passes a legal background check will go and buy a gun for someone who wouldn't, or to then go and sell it at an upcharge on the black market, only to claim it lost or stolen when it shows up at a crime scene. The legal gun market directly supports and enables both gun crime and the illegal gun market. Making it more difficult to legally get a gun will make it exponentially more difficult to illegally acquire a gun. More on this later.

Mass shootings are a small percentage of total deaths, but these deaths are unique in how horrible, violent, and early in a person's life they come. They are always the direct result of hate, and are a uniquely American problem within the developed world. Unlike robbery murders or even homicides motivated by passion, mass shootings don't target a specific individual. They seek to kill a group of people indiscriminately. Essentially, they're a violent hate crime, almost always motivated by a right-wing view of society and a belief that violence solves problems.

It's also laughable that the ownership of a gun somehow puts you on even footing with the government. Do you know how much firepower the government has? Even military grade weapons are useless against an actual military.

Ok, here's Oxford's definition of a civil right:

Please go read this. Civil rights are rights of society and politics. They are things such as voting rights, marriage rights, freedom from religious infringement in your life, right to exist in society and politics. Gun ownership is no more a civil right than is the right to smoke crack.

America has a gun violence epidemic, compared to the rest of the world, and even compared among the states.

Ok, finally, on to fascism. So, let's start from the top and work our way to different outcomes. We have our first decision at "Is the current gun violence rate and mass shooting epidemic within the US worth fixing?" Personally, I think yes. If you think no, I invite you to tell that to anyone who lost a family member in a mass shooting and see if you don't get punched.

Having resolved yes, we move onto what to do. There are three real solutions.

1. Increase of law enforcement

2. Increase of surveillance

3. Regulation of firearms

Notably, mental health reforms is left off this list. I've addressed that several times in other posts. In summary, mass shooters don't seek mental services and the majority of perpetrators aren't mentally ill, they're disillusioned with society.

Now, as a liberal and specifically a social liberal, I hate fascism and think that among the political ideologies out there fascism and authoritarianism are a special kind of evil. In general, I see it as better to have a large government which serves the people instead of a small government which oppresses the people. A lot of conservatives, especially anarco-capitalists, think that a small government is necessarily less oppressive, but that is not true. Governments can be large, but if they are beholden to a citizenship, they'll obey said citizens. Small governments who are isolated from the populace easily turn towards oppression.

But I digress. Let's start with the first choice, and see where it takes us. For this exercise, we'll be assuming that when the government is given control over a certain aspect of our lives, they'll want to increase that control. So, we increase the law enforcement in all major metropolitan areas, meaning armed guards at malls, churches, movie theaters, schools, etc. And even though mass shootings still occur when armed guards are present (Parkland) or when police arrive on scene within the minute (El Paso), it's okay because we get to keep our guns, everybody has a gun so everyone is safe. This is basically a police state. The scary thing is conservatives have actually proposed this. Sean Hannity said on live TV that we need to place armed guards at every public area. And if you don't trust the government, how the hell could you trust the armed guards they have stationed outside the grocery store.

Next solution is increased surveillance. If access to guns is to remain unrestricted, then we need to be able to find the killers before they kill. What do all of the mass shooters have in common? An internet history rife with extremism and alt-right views. So, screen everyone. And go ahead and start censoring people who have those views too, just to be safe. But once we have a suspected shooter, how can we know when they're about to commit murder? You can't arrest someone for fitting a profile. So, you start tracking them, looking through their purchases, making sure they aren't trying to get someone to buy them a firearm, following them, watching them. Even if all they did is post on the internet with no intent, now the government knows their every move. And suddenly, the small minor infractions that everyone commits daily start to add up. So, one agent decides to hell with it, let's just bust him early for something, anything we can make stick. This isn't a hypothetical, either. There are countless stories of cops falsifying evidence just to make the arrest because they believe an innocent person is guilty.

Finally, firearm regulation. Now here you might think that if you lose your firearm, you lose your safety. Ignoring for a moment that I specifically advocated for law enforcement to not have firearms, if you genuinely think you are safer with a gun than without it, you are wrong. The mindset that, without your gun, there's nothing to stop the government from trampling your rights ignores the fact that even with your gun, there's nothing really stopping the government from trampling your rights, because the government has a lot more guns than you and they're a lot bigger. Now, perhaps you think that having an armed populace means a resistance or insurgency is possible. Ignoring that the government could squash any insurgency within the US, who even says the insurgents are on your side politically? What's stopping them from rising up right now? The same thing that's stopping the government from killing any dissidents: the fact that we live in a society and without it the government would collapse. Often times people speak as though the government is some separate entity when in reality in America every single person who us eligible to vote or pays taxes is a member of the government. We are the power base of the government, and to distinguish between the citizens of the US and the government if the US is a real gray area, because the government can't exist without the economic base that is our society. You called us sheep but we aren't sheep, we're the golden goose and you never ever kill the golden goose. The government won't come to put us all in camps because they'd wake up broke the next day. And even if they did, your gun wouldn't stop them, it just means they'd kill you.

When you arm everyone, you arm EVERYONE. Not just the lawful responsible owner, but the mass shooter, the murderer, the rapist, the insurgents on both the right and the left, the domestic terrorists, the gang bangers, the government sympathizers, the government itself, everyone. And while obviously it's not every gun owner, it could be any gun owner. And any realistic way to distinguish the difference between a responsible individual looking to own a gun and a mass shooter arming up is with a level of invasiveness that should make you incredibly uncomfortable. This is what I mean when I talk about surveillance.

Let's come to a conclusion here, because this post has gotten quite long.

The idea that you could amass enough firepower to resist the government is not reasonable. What protects you from the government is not weaponry but anonymity. Currently, our system has both, but having both allows criminals and murderers to readily access firearms and kill people. So, since the weaponry isn't protecting us anyway, might as well get rid of it and save some lives.

EDIT: The blog that sent these messages no longer exists, and I don't have access to them anymore, so I'm glad I screenshoted when I did. Kinda confirms my suspicion that they just wanted to anonymously harass me. Oh well, nothing as predictable as a coward.
