Is there like, an editable timeline sort of thing that is free on the internets, that writers can use to plan out their WIPs? I feel like that would be really useful for me right now. Anyone know of one?

like, okay, i'm sure this scene has been talked about and dissected to pieces already in this fandom but. BUT. i need to put my two cents in or i will explode.

so, your lord and best friend has just admitted to you that if you die, he will be so beside himself with grief that he might just die too.

the game then gives you THIS option in response.

and you, the player, know how video games work. you know this is the press x for romance button. you expect henry to admit his feelings—a culmination of all the hints he's dropped from the heart options we've chosen before—and kiss him as soon as the button's been pressed.

except henry doesn't kiss hans.

instead, henry places his hand on hans' hand. it's the first moment of physical contact between them in the whole scene...but it's not a kiss. it's gentle. it's intimate. it's tiptoeing the line between comforting a friend and something more...

...but henry leaves it at that. and he gets up and goes to leave.

and in that moment of panic. in that split second of 'this might be the last time i'll ever see you again, please don't go' — it's hans that kisses henry.

and it's henry who pushes hans away.

this is—for all intents and purposes—the opposite of what we, the player, chose.

and to add insult to injury, henry looks conflicted.

he looks SO conflicted that hans believes he's fucked up royally.

that he has completely tarnished their final moments together by acting on impulse—by giving into temptation and desperation and feelings he can't even put into his own words—and henry must be disgusted by him.

and hans believes this because he watches henry turn his back to him. refusing to look at him. and head for the door.

but henry stops before he opens it. and i keep thinking back to the heart option we chose.

the player is not making the choice for henry to kiss hans. we are not forcing his hand.

the player is reminding henry what he's been telling himself throughout the entire game.

don't run away, henry.

kiss him. kiss him back.

so henry does.

Kageyama's backstory only being revealed near the very end of the series is really interesting from a meta perspective.

For reference, his chapter is 387 out of 402. That's 96% of the way in.

To contrast, other characters like Tsukishima and Yamaguchi's backstories are shown in Chapters 87-88.

Now, we do get the explanation for his "King of the Court" title in Chapter 6, at the start of the series, but we don't see how he got to that point, or why he started playing volleyball in the first place like Tsukishima's and Yamaguchi's stories show.

It creates this situation where, despite being the deuteragonist, the character our protagonist, Hinata, is practically glued to the entire series, we barely know anything about him.

We don't even know he has a sister until that point whereas other characters' siblings like Natsu, Saeko, Akiteru, Alisa have all made appearances way before then. Even Oikawa's sister, though we don't see her, we at least know she exists because of Takeru.

He's both closed off to us (the audience) as well as the other characters in the series, and this results in them finding him rude or disliking his character in general (see: the "Kageyama is abusive" discourse that somehow keeps popping up even now).

Chapter 387 takes place in 2018 and was published in 2020 so it takes him 6 years of in-universe time and 8 years of irl time to really open up.

And the catalyst for all of this is Hinata fulfilling his promise of beating him.

You see, another thing to note is that, whenever Hinata thinks of Kageyama, he's always looking at him from behind.

His internal image of him is someone who's always up ahead, someone he needs to catch up to, meaning Hinata can only see one side of him, he cannot see all of Kageyama until he catches up and passes him.

Which he finally does here.

In this shot Hinata is finally the one who's looking back at Kageyama. At this moment, Hinata (and by extension the audience) can see him for all he is, can see how he was just a lonely boy who's been waiting for someone to meet him where he is, to keep running alongside him and not quit the race.

Someone he doesn't have to go easy on. Someone who would actually tell him to hurry up instead of slow down for a change.

His someone better.

So we really just gonna jump right in here with it—

The second I saw the light on his face and that goddamn projector I knew exactly what was being referenced—the S2 moment where we first learn of a the personality split that happens (aka to Will when he’s possessed)—

—that happens in associations with a missing right eye—

—and causes a “personality change?"

Looking at how many parallels there are even just in this teaser to the possession and tracking that happened with the connection between The Shadow Monster and Will in S2, including: Needles (to put Will to sleep)—

—dilated pupils, the tunnels, the possessed fall back—

—Even a sweaty (aka near heat just in case it goes south) Will being told to fight “again?”

MY guess is that Will thinks he's "spying" on Vecna, and the Party (Mike especially) thinks Will can be a "good" spy again—but Vecna is using to track the party / slowly possessing him and his friends think it’s just him being back in Hawkins spooking the hell out of him.

Especially with that “found you” at the end of the trailer?

It’s giving the exact same energy as when Will led the demodogs into the hospital and says “he made me do it, they upset him” in S2, down to Mike and Joyce being right next to him when its realized.

Especially with Will fully flashing back to how much The Shadow Monster hates fire in S2....and MIKE talking about a burn to start the trailer over Joyce's face?!

Oh yeah. Old plan no longer works energy coming in HOT.

Especially given we know the Will/One connection is strong af even end of S4, and this plan (sending people into the tunnels to burn him—aka the crawl?) is something Vecna is wise to now.

EVEN MORE SO now that we know Will is DEF feeling some type of way about passing his feelings off to El? Anything Will (and Mike in the wake of his “love” lie) plan(s) is going to backfire—and with how Vecna uses people’s emotional weaknesses against them, with full possessed technicolor to Will’s mind?

Jack Abbot. Wearing glasses at night. Hanging on the edge of his nose. He’s reading through one of his medical journals or an article or a book or fucking something. Wearing a baggy cotton T-shirt and some sweats or just his briefs under the sheets, you can still see the slight curve of his belly from the way he’s positioned. He’s sitting upright against the headboard with two pillows supporting his back, maybe as he reads he’s annotating things here and there making notes to keep in mind.

Your head is either on his lap where he strokes the back of your head and your neck just to feel your proximity, or you’re watching him from where your head’s propped up on your side of the bed, eyeing him up and down, a shiver brushing over your figure the more you stared at him.

He knows you’re looking, knows you’re watching, but he refuses to acknowledge you. He lets it fester, lets the tension in the air grow thicker as if he wants to drag it out, as if he can read your mind. You think he can, you think he knows how good he looks being so domestic. He’s the one that breaks the silence after a beat far too long.

“You need something, sweetheart?”

Of course you do. You always do when it comes to him. And you sure as hell were gonna get it.

On their way to Bambouche, the party stops by a restaurant. A nice meal is had, the sun is setting, the day is winding down.

Until Siffrin sees the couples' deluxe dessert special on the menu.

"Quick, someone pretend to be bonded with me!" Siffrin slaps the menu down with a sweaty palm, fire in his eye and maybe a little drool on his chin.

Odile's hand is on Isabeau's shoulder with the speed and expertise of a handler whose dog was just offered bacon.

"Isabeau," She speaks calm and quiet, as Mirabelle and Bonnie scoot in close to Siffrin, oo-ing and aa-ing at the lavishly illustrated confectionary. "Wait just a moment."

"Madame..." Isa whines with such a shake to both voice and legs (had he really already been on his feet?), that Odile returns to the dog metaphor. She nods her head towards the three at the other end of the table.

They all look as desperate as Isa does right now, starry-eyed and giddy as they point out the obscene number of strawberries, the generous portion of vanilla-bean ice cream, and ooh is that lava cake? It's huge, but they can afford it at 50% off!

"I know you need this like a drowning man needs air," Odile doesn't even keep her tone down this time, she's hardly the only one with at least one eye. "but consider:"

Siffrin, Mirabelle, and Bonnie look up at them, curious.

"It would be hilarious to see Siffrin and Mirabelle fail at this spectacularly."

Silence falls across the table. Hands shake. A dry throat tries to swallow.

Isa quietly sits back down in his chair.

"S-sorry, Sif..." Isa scratches the back of his neck sheepishly.

A waitress stands next to a portly man in a fine dress shirt, the two of them watching the commotion as the new guy (oh, poor Oliver) tries his best to handle delivering a final dessert order to Vaugarde's Saviors--and finding out Housemaiden Mirabelle is, apparently, betrothed.

He's handling it about as well as his previous interactions, having been ordered not to call attention to the heroes' identity or fame, give them some space to breathe. Things certainly would go a lot smoother if he had any semblance of a poker face, but at least three of them seem to trust his feigned ignorance.

The Housemaiden and her companion with the cloak look like they're about to melt off the table by the time Oliver starts walking off with an empty tray. The kid with them is already digging in, picking off strawberries and laughing uproariously while the tall gentleman across from them vibrates in fits of giggles.

"... Do they know... we would have given them the cake for free...?"

and i'll say another thing about bloodlines, which is that it's really nice seeing an unintentional sacrifice in another way. bc will all of the other fd movies there's typically the character who gets knocked from their spot on the list and someone dies ahead of them (e.g. carter/hitchcock or ian/erin.)

but with this new one, and erik not actually being on the list, we get a sacrifice where he doesn't take the place of bobby or really delay bobby's death at all, he just pisses death off enough that the two of them die together. and i think the only other time we see someone not on deaths list (bc of the premonition, at least) die is in the 5th movie. so, i just find the extenuating circumstances of erik's death really entertaining to see unfold
