Notes: Just Kura moving in & meeting his first resident of the town; Klaudio.

While Kuniklo’s Wish was smaller than the large city where Kura had grown up, it still proved to be bigger than he had been expecting. He’d managed to get lost a couple of times. Usually he wouldn’t mind that, it would be a way for him to explore and get familiar with his surroundings. Unfortunately this time he had a deadline to meet. The solicitor had arranged for her nephew to meet him at Sinjoro’s old home, in order to hand over the keys and offer assistance with moving.

It took around 20 minutes for Kura to finally find his destination, signalled by a small post box with the number 42 on it at the end of a small dirt road which led down to a rather unkempt looking house. It didn’t surprise Kura too much, the solicitor had mentioned that it was starting to be a bit worse for wear after Sinjoro’s Death.

As he pulled up, he noticed another car, looking a little beat up, already parked outside. There was a man leaning against it, dark skin and black curly hair with red streaks at the front. A pair of bear ears poked through his hair, pierced with golden hoops that hugged the underside of them. As Kura’s car drew closer, the bear looked up from his phone. Parking the car and hopping out, Kura approached the best with a friendly smile.

“Kuraga Muzikisto?” The bear politely asked, offering his hand.

“Yes, that’s right.” Kura took the hand and shook it firmly. “You must be Klaudio Brunaurso?”

“That would be me,” Klaudio lightly laughed, fiddling with his pocket and producing a set of keys.

“Do you need to see my ID before you hand them over?” Kura raised an eyebrow as he reached into his own pocket for his wallet.

“Oh. Yeah, I supposed I should.” Klaudio smiled nervously as Kura fished out and handed over his driving licence. “To be honest, it’s the first time Aunt Sofio’s asked me to do anything like this. I’m usually just running errands for my Dad rather than her.” He scanned the licence for a couple of minutes before handing it and the keys over to Kura. “Well, I’m happy with what I’ve seen so I think we’re all good here.”

“Great,” Kura sighed in relief, playing with the keys in his hand. “Is there anything else left I need to sign?”

“Not that I’m aware of.” Klaudio rubbed the back of his head. “I’m sure Sofio will let you know if there’s anything that was missed.” He suddenly clasped his hands together. “Is there anything else I can help you with? Moving stuff in, putting luggage away, stuff like that?”

Kura looked over his shoulder to his car. “Well I’ve got a few bags I’d appreciate the help with, if you really don’t mind.” Kura turned back in time to see Klaudio nodding his head. Signalling for Klaudio to follow, he made his way over to the car. “I’ll be honest, this all came about for me at a weird time. Pretty much everything I own is in this car.”

“I’m sorry to hear that.” Klaudio frowned, almost like he wanted to ask the backstory but didn’t want to push. He watched as Kura unlocked the trunk, revealing several bags, mostly with clothes and other essential items. “I’m glad you decided to move here anyway. It’s nice to know Mr. Muzikisto’s house is going to someone who truly needs it.” Kura reached into the trunk, passing a couple of the bags to Klaudio who was wearing a small solemn smile on his face. “I think he’d be happy, knowing this was helping you.”

“Did you know my uncle well?” Kura hadn’t really ever gotten to know his uncle, his parents moving when Kura wasn’t old enough to truly form memories. There were probably people within the town who knew Sinjoro well, even if Kura would never get that chance now.

“Everyone knew Sinjoro,” Klaudio laughed. “You’re going to get a lot of ‘oh you’re Sinjoro’s nephew’ over the next few days.” They began to slowly walk towards the house. “He was very well respected. Practically the heart and soul of the town. Everyone loved him.” Klaudio gave a resigned sounding sigh, as Kura struggled to figure out which key he needed. “Everyone was heartbroken when he passed.”

“I can imagine.” Kura made a triumphant noise when he finally found the right key. “I almost feel like I’m intruding by being here.”

“Oh no, please don’t think like that.” Klaudio shook his head vigorously. “I think everyone’s more relieved that the home is being kept within the family.” The door clicked open, and Klaudio shot him a big grin. “Kuniklo’s Wish wouldn’t be the same without a Muzikisto here!”

“Well, you’ve got one. I just hope I can live up to the high expectations.” Kura let the hallway guide him through into a small living room. He placed his bags on the floor to view his surroundings. It would definitely need a lick of paint, and possibly new decor, but from what he could tell it seemed structurally sound. That was at least one less thing he had to worry about. Klaudio followed in behind him, and Kura gestured to where he’d placed his bags. “You can put the bags here. I’ll go through them later.”

“Fair enough.” Klaudio carefully placed the bags next to the other pile. “So, what do you think you’ll be doing now that you’re here? Job wise, and all that.”

“I dunno yet.” Kura bit his lip, one of his ears twitching. His previous job had been in some dreary dull factory where he hardly ever saw the sun and everyone hated each other. Never again, he’d promised himself. “I guess I’m going to have a look around town. See if there’s anything available anywhere.”

“Well…” Klaudio’s voice drawled on as he once again began rooting around in his pocket. “My brother actually recently opened up a cafe in town. It’s called Gold Bean Cafe.” He made a short sound, before finally pulling out a somewhat battered looking flyer and passing it to Kura. “I know he’s looking for some help at the moment. Uh. I mean, if you’re interested that is.”

“Oh. Yeah, that sounds good actually.” Kura took the flyer and looked it over, smiling when he saw a small map on the back. It has directions, Good. “Would he need me to have experience? I worked in a factory until now.”

“No, I don’t think so.” Klaudio scratched behind his ear. “Just go in and ask to speak with Petro, tell him Klaudio sent you.” He gave a short chuckle, but soon brushed himself down and looked more serious. “Would you like any more help or should I leave you to get settled?”

“I think I’m good for now.” Kura offered his hand once more to shake again. “Thank you so much for all your help. I mean it, you’ve been very welcoming.”

“My pleasure. Hopefully I’ll see you around town.” Klaudio began to leave, but paused and added. “And don’t be afraid to ask for help, everyone in town will be more than willing to give you a hand.”

Kura followed Klaudio back to the door and porch. He thanked him yet again, maybe I’m overdoing it a bit, before Klaudio returned to his car, starting it up and driving off as Kura watched him go. Taking a deep breath, he stepped back in the house, heading straight for the living room and taking a leap onto the sofa. He hit it with a thud, groaning slightly and realising that leaping on it before checking if it was in good condition was a little foolish. He would need a new one, given how hard and uncomfortable this one seemed to be. He also needed to check the other furniture and appliances and ensure they were in working order.

For now, he was going to lie back and relax though. For the first time in what felt like forever, Kura could honestly say he felt safe and his future bright.

კონფერენციის მუშაობაში მონაწილეობა მიიღო ქართველ მეცნიერთა 12 წევრიანმა ჯგუფმა. ჯგუფში შედიოდნენ ალექსანდრე ასლანიკაშვილის სახელობის საქართველოს კარტოგრაფთა ასოციაციის წევრები (ასოციაციის პრეზიდენტი, თენგიზ გორდეზიანი, ვიცე პრეზიდენტები: ზურაბ ლაოშვილი, თედო გორგოძე და გოჩა გუძუაძე, გენერალური მდივანი საბა მოდებაძე და სწავლული მდივანი მარიამ გაგოშაშვილი). კონფერენციაზე მოხსენებები წარმოადგინეს: თენგიზ გორდეზიანმა, საბა მოდებაძემ, გოჩა გუძუაძემ (2 მოხსენება), რობერტ მაღლაკელიძემ, ნიკოლოზ კაპანაძემ, მარიამ გაგოშაშვილმა (ივანე ჯავახიშვილის სახელობის თბილისის სახელმწიფო უნივერსიტეტი), სოფიო გორგიჯანიძემ (2 მოხსენება, ჰიდრომეტეოროლოგიის ინსტიტუტი), რევაზ თოლორდავამ (სოხუმის სახელმწიფო უნივერსიტეტი), ზურაბ ლაოშვილმა (საქართველოს ტექნიკური უნივერსიტეტი), ნატო მაისურაძემ (საქართველოს გარემოს დაცვისა და სოფლის მეურნეობის სამინისტრო). ქართველ მეცნიერთა მოხსენებებმა მოიცვა შემდეგი სფეროები: თეორიული კარტოგრაფია, თემატური კარტოგრაფია, საკადასტრო კარტოგრაფია, გეოინფორმაციული სისტემები პრაქტიკაში, სასკოლო კარტოგრაფია, სამხედრო კარტოგრაფია, თანამედროვე გეოდინამიური პროცესების კარტოგრაფირება, გეოეკოლოგიური კარტოგრაფირება. ქართველ მეცნიერთა პრეზენტაციებმა დიდი მოწონება დაიმსახურა. კონფერენციის მასალები გამოქვეყნდება კრებულის ფორმატში, რომელიც ინდექსირებული იქნება საერთაშორისო ბაზაში Web of Science-ში. კონფერენციის მუშაობაში მონაწილე ქვეყნებს შორის საქართველოს დელეგაცია რაოდენობრივად მხოლოდ კონფერენციის ორგანიზატორ ბულგარეთის დელეგაციას და ჩეხეთის რესპუბლიკის დელეგაციას ჩამორჩებოდა.

The conference was attended by a 12-member group of Georgian scientists. The group included members of the Alexander Aslanikashvili Georgian Cartographers Association (Association President Tengiz Gordeziani, Vice Presidents Zurab Laoshvili, Tedo Gorgodze, and Gocha Gudzuadze, General Secretary Saba Modebadze, and Scientific Secretary Mariam Gagoshashvili). Presentations were made by Tengiz Gordeziani, Saba Modebadze, Gocha Gudzuadze (2 presentations), Robert Maghlakelidze, Nikoloz Kapanadze, Mariam Gagoshashvili (Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University), Sofio Gorgijanidze (2 presentations, Institute of Hydrometeorology), Revaz Tolordava (Sokhumi State University), Zurab Laoshvili (Georgian Technical University), and Nato Maisuradze (Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia). The presentations covered areas such as theoretical cartography, thematic cartography, cadastral cartography, GIS practice, school cartography, military cartography, the cartography of modern geodynamic processes, and geoecological cartography. The presentations by the Georgian scientists were well-received. The conference materials will be published in a collection indexed in the international database Web of Science. Among the countries participating in the conference, the Georgian delegation was quantitatively behind only the delegations of Bulgaria, the conference organizer, and the Czech Republic.
