The sound of a sing-song "Rodolphuuuus" heralded the arrival of Alecto to the straight-backed chair she sat in as she sat down near the aforementioned man. She didn't say anything further right away as she was too focused on getting comfortable in the chair, pulling a pillow off the couch nearest her to stuff behind her back before Alecto settled back in and fixed her gaze on the older of the two Lestrange brothers. "Hello Rodolphus, you look positively dreadful."

He didn't, of course. Not really. Alecto had simply reached a point in her life where she refused on moral principles alone to compliment the man, lest his head swell any larger than it already had over the years. Nothing was worse than a man with an overblown ego. "It was a shame we didn't manage to go to the lake during that 'party'," Alecto added with a put-upon sigh. She let it sit for a moment, enjoying the quiet before adding on another question. "So, what are you planning on doing this year? Do you plan to make any progress with Bella? Literally any at all?"

Bellatrix would hardly wait for her husband, but she did note his absence. It was starkly apparent, considering that the lack of Rodolphus Lestrange left the place unnaturally silent and calm. Truth be told, it was also rather dull but such a thought was not worth considering and so she stuffed it from her mind and occupied the recess by planning her tasks for the next day. Though governed by severe instincts, she was nonetheless calculating and methodical. Her emotions may at times reel and consume, but when it mattered, her mind was as clear as crystal. So she sat in her study, her quill scratching incessantly at fresh parchment as she outlined what must be done, needing to see it with her eyes to fix the details into her memory completely. Loose raven hair swept down like a thickly lavish curtain, covering her arm and shielding her face and her work from the open room.

She felt her husband before she saw him. The magic shifted, his presence adjusting the impenetrable layers of enchantments they'd both worked into the walls. As though irritated by this interruption, her fingers twitched of their own accord, the jolting spell work sparking through her skin with an electricity that only his magic possessed. The wretched man, disturbing her solitude with his familiarity. After a pause in which she listened intently, noting his progress through the house, she resumed her work and made him wait before she turned, completing her sentence and rounding off her thoughts.

Taking her time, she draped an elbow over the back of her chair and crossed one leg over the other, swinging her ankle as she scanned him from head to toe. Since he was in one piece, his night must have been a good one. Not that he ever returned in a lamentable state. "You look well, husband." With a sly smile, she snatched up her wand and stabbed it towards a drinks' cabinet, summoning scotch and two glasses to float into the middle of the room. Then she stood and sauntered to grab them, barefooted and practically seething with the unshakeable want to know where he had been, assuming he had been out doing the Dark Lord's bidding all this time. Jealousy was an old friend. As was unhealthy competition and the stubborn desire not to satisfy him by merely asking. "Kind of you to join me at last." She poured the drinks and placed one into his hand. "I almost considered conversing with the elves. Or writing to your mother. The tragedy."

Ingratiating himself with the Ministry was infuriating. But some distasteful things had to continue despite the absence of the Dark Lord and the lack of an organised uprising. Rabastan did not intend to rest, not while his brother was locked away - and not ever. So he had continued to maintain relationships with those who unfortunately mattered within the government. A few encounters were today, mostly on the topic of getting Rodolphus out of that hell-hole, with the promise of financial support from his family. Their name may have been blackened by recent events, but money still spoke and the Lestranges were neither ashamed nor weak. They were only silently enraged, biding their time until the correct circumstance presented itself.

Rabastan stepped into The Three Broomsticks, heading directly towards the bar at the end of the afternoon. Disregarding the other patrons, he chose a quiet spot in the corner and dispersed those closest to him with a subtle hostility that could not have been described as impolite, yet somehow still emanated from implacable features. His company would be here soon. Meanwhile, he gestured for the barmaid's attention.

Starter for: Rodolphus Lestrange @seekcs Where: The Ministry of Magic's Spring Gala

Rabastan had endured more than his fair share of mind-numbing conversation, this evening. As he spent yet another moment refilling his glass, and smiling with tight-lipped necessity, he obliquely considered that Rodolphus had likely suffered more. Or, then again - perhaps not. He did seem to relish the limelight. Rabastan did not know how he could bear the incessant attention. These thoughts, as well as others more interesting, mulled through his mind while he stood beside an old wizard who seemed intent on relaying his considerable life history to anyone who would listen. Blank steel consumed Rabastan's expression. Then, somewhat unceremoniously - arguably rudely - he stepped away without warning and paced instead towards his brother.

Since Rodolphus was surrounded by other people, he cast a silent charm to disperse them. The spell crept invisibly, a subtle susurration that gently persuaded the bystanders that they must attend to other business. Watching them meander away was mildly entertaining, especially once they had roamed far enough for confusion to take hold. Rabastan did not stifle the devious arch of his lips.

"You're welcome," he said, as he stepped beside Rodolphus. Though upon considering his brother, he added, "Unless you were enjoying that, in which case: apologies." Not that he meant it. Having decided he desired Rodolphus's company, he intended to obtain it.

Despite Amelia’s work centring around the Auror Department, she was interested in the workings of many different offices within the Ministry. The Wizengamot was one of them. It was the core of their justice system, and Amelia wanted to learn more about it, now that she had managed to not only get her foot in the door of the Ministry, but retain her position there. 

Justice.

It had a good ring to it. But Amelia wanted to learn more about the laws, and whether justice really did have a part in their system. She spent some of her her free time reading through case files, and laws, eager to learn more. The Sorting Hat had considered putting Amelia in Ravenclaw due to her love of knowledge and learning, but her work ethic and staunch loyalty to those she loved had won out. Merlin only knew how the Sorting Hat could have decided such a thing when she was 11, but who was she to question centuries of tradition? 

She was Amelia Bones, but that was beside the point. One institution at a time. 

Today, she had been asked to deliver a file to one of the Wizengamot members. She was happy to do it, in that it got her away from her desk, and down a few floors to the busy offices. Earlier in her career, she may have bristled at being asked to play errand girl. But this was a favour for a friend in the department, and she knew it was not a request made to belittle or demean her. Amelia had shown that she would not stand for such long ago, while at the same time ingratiated herself gracefully with others, indicating she was always willing to help out a friend. She was a little apprehensive at having to approach Rodolphus Lestrange, though. 

Squaring her shoulders, Amelia made sure her posture was as correct as ever. She walked through the halls of the Ministry with confidence and composure at all times. It was what her parents would have expected of her, and what she demanded of herself. Hide everything, nerves, fears, excitement. 

Seeing him walking down the hall, Amelia quickened her pace, high heels tapping on the floor. “Mr. Lestrange?” she called out. “I have a file for you.”

in his world blood held an almost sacred quality, pureblood, half-blood, mudblood. the purity of the red viscous fluid ran the order of his world. Rodolphus had never questioned it, never aloud at least, he had learned the consequences of that from a very early age. Blood ruled this world, a world where the purist were on top and every other permeation fell somewhere below. despite the whispers of his own mother being different, his blood was PURE. pure, old magic, ancient magic. 

from a very early age Rodolphus Lestrange had also learned how easily blood left a body, men were only bags of blood. it was rather simple to drain the body of the liquid that kept them alive. magic was hardly needed to successfully exsanguinate  ( even if his father often said non-magical means of torture made him no better than the bag of blood he tortured. ) 

his obsession was one that would last for the span of his lifetime, it was bred into him, he could escape it. 

mismatched eyes studied the vein that ran down the stunning alabaster that was her && the blade at his side itched. but he couldn’t end this one. Dorcas Meadowes was too much fun to finish so quickly.
