What's with the black curved lines inside. It probably means nothing but I found it interesting anyway. Maybe all the prisoners will have it I don't know. Overall really pretty to look at and fun to speculate about.

I never really taken a closer look at the CDs myself. Though I would have never expected a robotic voice instead of a human’s… it is interesting I must say, I quite like this new experience…

Yuno MV locations from the first three dates

Beginning with yellow Yuno, we have the Hachiko statue - Tokyo, Shibuya ward

Story

"Professor Eizaburo Ueno of Tokyo University adopted Hachiko in Akita prefecture in the early 1920s. The two were inseparable, with Hachiko accompanying his master to Shibuya Station each day when the professor would head off to work at Tokyo's Imperial University. The faithful pup would come back to the station each afternoon at 3pm to greet Ueno upon his return. Unfortunately, the professor died in 1925 while at the university and never returned for a final goodbye with his pet. However, the loyal Hachiko continued to visit the station daily until his own death nearly 10 years later. His own death made headlines, and he was cremated and buried next to his beloved owner."

Next, we have the karaoke where Yuno goes after!

On the karaoke machine it can be seen the word "Joesound" written. Although there isn't a place or a company named like this, I had found a karaoke place near Hachiko statue and Shibuya scramble crossing (since Yuno seems to remember some landmarks from Tokyo she had visited) named JOYSOUND.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find the room where Yuno stayed, however the machine and TV look similar with the one from the MV.

Also, a fun thing to note for the reason why they might have chosen to write Joesound instead!

"The closest sounding kanji name to "joe" is 常 (Jō). It is pronounced "Jō" with two syllables. The kanji means "constant" or "always"."

I think the meaning is similar with what the lyrics of Stickybug imply. To be always by your lover side (like a stickybug) until the day you die.

Going back to the Hachiko statue, the message of the story has similar connotations. Hachiko never actually stopped from loving the professor, always coming back to the station, until the day he died too...

Continuing with green Yuno! These where the easiest to find and I don't think there is much to say about them...

Tokyo Skytree - Sumida city ward

From the shape of the window structure, it looks like Yuno was on the tembo galleria.

No wonder Yuno has dressed herself up so elegant! The client definitely has a lot of money, considering the price to visit just the Tokyo Skytree is 6800 yen for both of them (45,37 $)

During night, however, the scenery changes and Yuno is now in Tokyo tower - Minato ward. They seem to be in an expensive restaurant!

Assuming that they also visited the Tokyo Tower, depending on which deck they went, the prices still seem to be somewhat high!

If they visited the main deck, in total the price should be 2200 yen (14,68 $). For the top deck tour, in total the price should be 5400 yen (36,02 $) (online reservation) or 5800 yen (38,69 $).

Next we have purple Yuno!

Yokohama Cosmo World - Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture

(I would be happy if someone can read the hour on the clock...!)

"Yokohama Cosmoworld is an amusement park in Yokohama’s bayside Minato Mirai district. Although it occupies a rather compact area, it has a variety of rides and attractions which are suitable for either family outings, days out with friends, or romantic dates."

What is interesting about this amusement park is that there is no entrance charge!

However, a single ride can cost between 300 (1,98 $) - 900 yen (5,95 $).

Since the Ferris wheel seems to be the main attraction in Yuno's MV:

"Yokohama Cosmoworld is dominated by a giant Ferris wheel, called Cosmo Clock 21, which has a large digital clock at its center. Standing 112.5 meters high with a 100 meter diameter, this was the world’s tallest Ferris wheel until 1992, and it still holds the record as the world’s biggest Ferris wheel with a clock. Cosmo Clock 21 is one of the characteristic features of the Yokohama Bay skyline and is especially beautiful at night when it is illuminated with an LED light show of constantly changing colors."

"The wheel has 60 gondolas which can each carry eight passengers and it takes 15 minutes to complete a full turn of the wheel. A ride on Cosmo Clock 21 costs 900 yen."

It seems that this image takes place during day, most likely when Yuno and the client where on their way to the Yokohama Cosmo World. Considering that they don't get back home until night, they probably spent all the day until closing in the amusement park. (Cosmo world is open from 11.00 to 20.00)

The client definitely spent a lot of money, taking into consideration that they probably tried many rides!

Since I tried to estimate how much money some of these clients spent, I want to point out the client which appears with Grey Yuno in the second MV. Grey Yuno seems to be the happiest with him and even shows his hand (hands seem to be very important in Milgram, Amane's second MV is a good example for this, the hand representing her mother, an important character for her story) which at some point in time gave her warmth. The places where they go on a date don't seem to be some important landmarks as the others, so the money the client payed shouldn’t be as much. He also only gives 3000 yen (19,82 $) to grey Yuno, which quite pales in comparison with the money some of the other clients spent .

Haru's first trial MV- "Sticky Bug" (DECO*27, english lyrics from the vocaloid wiki)

The video starts with the camera focusing on a flickering light. A spider can be seen resting on its web as a fly goes towards it and ends up getting stuck on the web. As the spider starts moving down towards the fly, the camera starts moving down, eventually landing on a book at the top of a messy wooden desk.

Hey, say that you love me, so it won’t ever be forgotten

A hand appears out of view from the camera, and slowly opens the book, and a pop-up springs out, revealing a papercraft of a chibi Haru and a blue-haired boy holding hands while sitting in a bench, with a sunset shining in the back.

Since I don’t need anyone but you

A second pop-up comes out, this one being words that serve as the title of the book. It reads:

“Haru Akatori’s only love.”

The hand from before turns the page, causing a pop-up of a papercraft school to appear. The camera zooms in on the pop-up, fading to white afterwards.

I love that voice of yours

As the white fades away, the scenario turns into a papercraft world; a chibi papercraft Haru can be seen walking through the halls of what looks to be a school wearing a school uniform. He is joyfully walking down the hall as he passes through a commotion happening. A group of faceless boys are picking on a blue-haired boy wearing a black mask. He seems rather annoyed, but not very afraid. Haru looks back on what’s happening, his expression becoming down. The blue-haired boy and Haru both walk away at the same time.

Every single word you say… I don’t want to miss a single one

Haru then finds the boy sitting alone in a corner isolated from the rest of the school. Haru sits down next to him and extends his hand with a weak smile on his face. The boy lowers Haru’s hand and gives him a small nod, before standing up and walking away.

So to put it simply, let’s start recording

Haru looks down to the ground with a sad expression. He then stands up and leaves too.

The scene changes to a hallway once again. Haru is hiding around a corner as he peeks down the hallway to see the blue-haired boy once again sitting on the ground, isolated from others. The boy seems to have an eye injury now, as he is wearing an eyepatch. Haru looks down at the ground with a concerned expression, but as he looks at the boy again, he blushes and runs away.

I want to catch every single one of your expressions So not leaving out a single moment I’ll commit everything to memory

The scene now changes to Haru talking with two girls and a boy. He’s blushing as his mouth opens, but no words can be heard. When he’s finished talking, the girls and the boy start laughing. Haru starts laughing with them as he awkwardly rubs the back of his neck.

If I’m lucky, we’ll stay like this till the day we’re covered in wrinkles Since I’ll surely be just as smitten with you on the day I die

The camera focuses on the boy’s face as he starts smirking. He then pushes Haru, causing him to fall on the ground. Haru’s eyes widen, and he tries to hold back tears from falling. A pair of shoes can be seen running up to the scene.

Haru looks up, his eyes landing on blue strands of hair belonging to someone standing in front of him in a protective manner.

As for my dream, it’s to be that stickybug right by your side

Their eyes meet, making the camera go back and forth between them. Haru’s eyes widen more and more each time the camera goes back to him.

A huge flash of light happened, and suddenly, Haru and the blue-haired boy were transported to a sparkling white void. Haru and the boy looked at each other’s eyes and both started to smile.

A pink sparkle started to surround Haru’s neck, and a pink cord started to materialize around his neck and extend up to the blue-haired boy’s wrist, wrapping around it.

Since I don’t need anyone but you

Haru starts to tear up as he leaps and tackles the boy to the ground, bringing him into a tight hug as he buries his head in his chest. The boy gives out a small smile as he gently hugs Haru back. A small white light travels from the part of the pink cord that’s connected to the boy’s wrist up to Haru’s neck. The boy’s expression became one of shock as the scene cuts.

The screen faded to white, and as it died down, the scenario was out of the papercraft world, now showing the pop-up book once again. The hand turns the page again, causing another pop-up to spring out. This time it is Haru and the blue-haired boy walking side by side on the street while there’s a rainbow shining above them. The camera zooms in on the pop-up and the screen fades to white once again.

As the white fades away, the scenario changes back to the papercraft world once again. Haru can be seen talking to the blue-haired boy, he’s rubbing the back of his neck and is blushing and the pink cord is still around Haru’s neck and the boy’s wrist. They both seem to be older now. He keeps opening his mouth, but no words come out.

I’d call it ideal, perfect even… But you say “no, it’s still lacking”

After some time, the boy nods. Haru’s eyes widen and he starts to smile from ear to ear. He grabs a hold of the boy’s wrist and starts to run off into the distance, dragging the boy along as the scene cuts.

I say “goodbye” only so that I can go to meet you once more I say “goodnight” only so that I can say “good morning” tomorrow

The boys are now walking in an amusement park, Haru is smiling widely while the boy’s expression is covered by his black mask. The scene changes various times to them doing various things around the amusement park. To riding a roller-coaster, riding a ferris wheel, to the boy winning a plushie for Haru, to the two of them eating lunch together. All the while, the pink cord was still there.

I want to be your stickybug for a bit each and every day

The scene cuts to Haru and the boy sitting on a bench, looking at the sunset. The camera zooms in on their hands as Haru starts to move his closer and closer to the boy’s. He then rests his hand on top of the boy’s before grasping them completely.

From now on keep thinking of me fondly, OK?

He brings the boy’s hand up slowly, as his free hand moves to his face to bring the boy’s mask down. The blue-haired boy has an expression of slight shock. The camera changes to focus on Haru’s mouth as his lips move. Following his lip movement you can make out that he’s whispering:

“I love you.”

Another flash of light occurs, and now they are once again in the sparkling white void. The pink cord starts to shine brightly. The camera cuts to Haru’s face, he’s tearing up and has a small smile on his face. The camera now cuts to the boy’s face, he’s tearing up as well and is smiling from ear to ear.

Their faces start getting closer and closer to each other, and as they’re inches away from each other, a bright light consumes the entire camera as the scene cuts.

As the light dies down, an empty wall with the word “Memories :)” written in pink ink at the top can be seen. Some time passes, and now there’s a photo of Haru and the boy together. Another one soon appears, coupled with another one and so on. Haru and the boy are happily smiling in all of the photos.

Pafupafu nya nya, ou mai ou

The screen glitches, and a blackened photo crossed out with a red X appears. The contents of it aren’t visible outside of a slight silhouette of two people screaming at each other. Afterwards, another photo of the two boys appears, except that the blue-haired boy isn’t smiling as contently now, and yet Haru stays the same. Similar photos keep appearing.

Pafupafu nya nya, pafupafu nya nya

More crossed out photos appear as the lyrics keep being sung. Their contents are becoming less and less visible now. A new normal photo appears of the boys together again, but the blue-haired boy is looking to the side instead of facing the camera and he’s wearing his black mask again. And yet, Haru still stays the same.

More and more crossed out photos appear, until they end up covering the entire wall as the scene cuts.

The scenario suddenly was out of the papercraft world now. A hand forcefully gripping a wrist appears, and as the camera goes up, it’s revealed to be Haru gripping the blue-haired boy’s wrist in a small house. Haru is crying and sweating as his mouth keeps opening frantically, and yet, no words can be heard.

That’s just the tip of the iceberg, so please let me keep filling you with this love!

The camera zooms in on the boy’s eyes, his true expression unreadable due to his mask. His eyes narrow, and he forcefully pulls away from Haru’s gripping, causing a big flash of light to occur.

Hey, say that you love me, say that you love me Saying “I don’t need anything else” isn’t being honest

As the light dies down, both of them are back in the sparkling white void in the papercraft world in the same positions that they were in the real world. The boy’s pull caused the pink cord that was around his wrist and Haru’s neck to break. The camera cutted to Haru’s face, his eyes and mouth open wide.

Say that you love me, for if I’m lucky, then at any rate,

The boy can be seen walking away from Haru, until he’s completely out of screen.

Haru fell to his knees, his expression unreadable due to his hair. The camera starts to slowly back away as the scenario starts to change.

Now, the camera is back at the book on the desk from before, the hand now completely closing the book. The camera turns around and follows the hand up, revealing that the one turning the pages was Haru himself. He’s grinning from ear to ear as he looks down at the book. Yuno T1 Cover - Sticky Bug

More covers! This time, Yuno's Trial 1 cover, Sticky Bug! Yuno is another character I'm not super familiar with, but she's pretty interesting! Anyways, here we go!

This one is thankfully pretty straightforward, especially because Yuno does have lover(s) to sing this to. Sticky Bug is about someone professing their deep love to someone else.

I love that voice of yours Every single word you say… [...] I love that face of yours too Your smiling face, your embarrassed face as well [...] Hey, I love you! I really love you! I super-duper love you! I love you so much I don't even know anymore! That’s just the tip of the iceberg, so please let me keep filling you with this love!

And it is somewhat implied that Yuno also felt infatuated by at least one of her clients.

(Note: There are also very possibly some clients she doesn't like. See the "'Naive little girl'? So off the mark, what's it to you? It's just absurd" line in Tear Drop. However, that could also be speaking to Es/the audience. However, there are quite a lot of things which make me think she does enjoy aspects of her sex work other than the money, not all of which I can get to without derailing the post too much)

Hell, there's a particular line which almost seems mirrored in the songs, one which happens to include the name of the cover.

I say “goodbye” only so that I can go to meet you once more I say “goodnight” only so that I can say “good morning” tomorrow I want to be your stickybug for a bit each and every day From now on keep thinking of me fondly, OK?

[Umbilical] “Good morning” “Good night” I want to be with you as many times as I can

Speaking of the song's title, "sticky bug" doesn't refer to any actual insect, but rather to the idea of someone who always sticks to the other person's side.

If I’m lucky, we’ll stay like this till the day we’re covered in wrinkles Since I’ll surely be just as smitten with you on the day I die I want to make all your dreams come true As for my dream, it’s to be that stickybug right by your side

Again possibly alluding to the idea Yuno wanted to stay by her client's side for reasons other than the money (see: Hachiko statue).

One thing which is sorta odd, however, is how much the singer seems to have to prod to get their lover to profess their love back.

Say that you love me, say that you love me Since there’s nothing else I need Hey, say that you love me, so it won’t ever be forgotten Since I don’t need anyone but you

This is the chorus, repeated three times. You could argue the singer having to repeat this request so many times implies the lover doesn't fully reciprocate, and you could use that as possible evidence for the 'pregnancy entrapment' theory. I find that theory quite interesting, though I don't quite subscribe to it. Instead, the way I read this line is that it shows how much the singer feels like they need the other person's love, regardless of whether or not they reciprocate. For Yuno, this would be about feeling like she needs the 'warmth' of her clients to feel good. See: the seemingly kinda important jacket she's given in Tear Drop.

There are obviously other ways to read this, though. You could claim Yuno is simply lying in this cover, and she's only presenting herself as completely smitten to satisfy her customers. Alternatively, did you know Sticky Bug appears in Umbilical?

You could argue Yuno is making one of her customers sing it in that scene, so despite the cover being sung by her, it's possible it's actually meant to be one of her customers singing it to her.

However, I don't think those two readings really work that well with Vampire, her Trial 2 cover, though I won't get into it in this post. Which is why I'm more convinced by the first reading, the one where Yuno is at least somewhat genuine towards at least one or more clients. Obviously you're free to believe what you want though!

Finally, last note, Sticky Bug contains this ‘lyric.’

Pafupafu nya nya, pafupafu nya nya

‘Nya nya’? Like a cat? And in Tear Drop Yuno is associated with a cat. Easy. Had to add in at least one silly observation.
