jonathan strange and mr norrell is hands down one of my favorite shows, but a little while ago I realized. that I’ve never actually. read the book.

like I loved the show so much I am absolutely fucking baffled that I never once thought ‘oh let’s check it out from the library and have a good time part 2’

& something about the weather lately (extremely windy) brought it to mind, so I checked it out from the library and I’m having a great time reading it so far 🥳

Something I'd like to point out before a new bsd chapter comes out because I've seen some theories floating around.

I don't think this panel hints that Dazai has a connection to the book, and that's why Atushi hallucinated him. I believe the possibility that it's Atsushi's ability talking to him is more likely.

Atushi is shown to hallucinate many people long before that chapter, even when the book is not mentioned. He sees the Orphanage Director, the rest of the ADA, Akutagawa. Fitzgerald. He also sees Dazai twice beforehand.

What all those situations have in common is that these are all moments of great distress for Atsushi. Moments when he's doubting himself.

Now, it's already hinted that the tiger is self-aware to some degree. It's shown to protect Atushi, and he transforms into the tiger without his knowledge throughout his entire stay in the orphanage.

The tiger manifesting itself as people Atsushi is most likely to listen to, like the director, Akutagawa, and Dazai doesn't sound too farfetched. We know Atushi hates fighting alone because he doesn't trust his own judgment and abilities. The tiger is telling him what he already knows, pointing him in the right direction but through other people.

"You have all the information you need already," most likely refers to Fyodor telling Atushi the truth about the nature of his ability.

Atsushi doesn't have full control over the tiger. He can control it only thanks to Fukuzawa's own ability. Now that Fukuzawa is gone, Atsushi's understanding of the tiger and what it wants is fundamental to using it to its full potential and defeating Fyodor.

Those are just my two cents to the discussion. I doubt we're going to find out in the next chapter since we're long overdue for a pov change, and Asagiri loves cliffhangers, which is my personal nightmare.

i only just found your art but i'm hrhrhrhgh all over it.. do you have go-to brushes or strategies that you use to get that inky line quality? it feels so rich and crunchy to the eyes! :))

Ty! The brush i think ur talking bout is this one off clip studio, love it, super crunchy and zippy. No special settings or techniques, I just try not to "overwork" a sketch if that makes sense - I get each form in one quick mark and rely on line weight like if I were using a real dip pen. Using a brush with such extreme speed taper will automatically add a lot of visual interest to otherwise simple drawings :]

Beyond that I’ve been a total ipad baby this year. The brush I use most is the procreate 6B pencil, default settings. I do miss my more unique brushes in clip sometimes tho

i feel the same way about skz and potentially unstanning. like they are full adult men they know what’s happening and yet remain silent, when imo they have enough power and influence to do otherwise. really disappointing and i was kinda comforted by seeing someone else have the same thoughts ❤️ take care

yess thats exactly how i see it and everyone telling me that it’s not that easy for skz to speak up.

But they don’t think about how difficult it is for Palestinians to have to sit there starving and terrified every day since oct 7 (220 days as of may 14 2024) and then also having to show strangers how human they are by posting about the lives, hopes, and dreams they lost because of the occupation in hopes that these strangers will send them money and aid so they can flee to safety.

With felix donating to a foundation that directly send money to kids in gaza and then working with an idf member on this lmb and just all of skz in general talking about how important stays ~all around the world~ are to them but basically turning a blind eye to the stays and nonstays lost due to this genocide is just extremely off putting imo.

I love skz down but as a black woman in the us that has to face and interact with people who think i have no right to live, exist or be happy i wont tolerate my ult giving money and a platform to men who feel that same way about another group of people.

17. talk about your writing and editing process

so much waffling over word choice, it's ridiculous.

usually it starts with a scenario i want to happen, either it's missing from canon or some character deserves angst, and then it's a fight to see how little i can build around the scene while still maintaining the feeling. and so much rewriting, so many different starts to a scene or just different scenes that never survive. sometimes i'm too wired from actually finishing something to edit before posting, sometimes i hate it so much that i leave it for a few months or a year and then come back to try again and rewrite pieces until it feels like it halfway works. nothing is safe even if i write linearly, i fiddle with things at the beginning if something needs foreshadowing or a theme needs to be consistent and anything can change until it's finished

unfortunately i just delete everything that's not posted >.<;; during the process there's plenty though, so here's one from an unpublished Hidden Region fic:
