Facebook deleted this almost immediately. It's almost like the ultrawealthy don't want us knowing or talking about what's at stake.

"But what will you do without new shows to watch during the strike?" babygirl I have at least fifteen half-watched shows and at least fifty shows I Meant To Watch But Didn't under my belt. I have Chronic Put Something On My List And Never Watch It Syndrome. any one of my queues on any one of those streaming services is full of forgotten dreams

In the wake of the dual strike I would like to remind everyone that "hollywood elites" is an antisemitic dogwhistle and if you are referring to company executives call them executives

Hey, in the midst of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike, I’d like to encourage everyone to join a Union. They’re genuinely so, so important when it comes to fighting for your rights as a worker. Look into specialized unions for your industry or join a larger organization like The Industrial Workers of the World (which grants membership to ANY worker in ANY industry regardless of current employment status). Learn your rights. Unionize. Fight back.

we all knew hollywood was evil but to reach the level of publicly admitting to letting writers go broke and homeless before giving them a living wage that they can easily afford to pay is insane.
pay your fucking writers.

So, the studios never intended to negotiate in good faith. They want to crush the WGA to head off a larger labor movement. They're spooked by how we split the agencies and are freaked out by the idea of a SAG-AFRRA strike and want to degrade our morale. No surprise.

that new Netflix show looks cool and all, but isn’t the writer’s strike still going?
update (July 30):
To those explaining WGA has not called for boycott and why, thank you, I genuinely appreciate you all. Sorry this response took so long. I just figured out how to view reposts.
To those who do not know, it is extremely likely a mass drop in subscriptions will turn into an excuse to say “streaming services are not a stable way to get revenue, so your work does not hold any real value for us”. A boycott has not been called as a result.

"The Billionaire Corporate Overlords don't want their underpaid starving workers they want to replace with AI to be outside demanding fair compensation so they Pruned The Trees they use for Shade so it's Unbearably Hot For Them To Be Out Picketing" is not something I expected to read but it honestly should have been

A reminder with the recent headlines connected to the wga strike
DO NOT BOYCOTT UNLESS THE WGA OFFICIALLY CALLS FOR ONE!
I understand you're mad. I understand you're frustrated. I get it! But starting an unofficial boycott will do absolutely nothing to help the WGA and indeed could very well harm efforts, both by cutting the (already limited) residuals the writers are being paid, by potentially creating another excuse for the executives to not negotiate, and if the WGA does call for an official boycott a bunch of people already boycotting will lower the numbers in the official boycott. If there's gonna be a boycott it needs to be very well organized to do any good.
If you wanna help, listen to what the WGA itself says you can do to help. A big one is if you have the money, a big one is donating to the Entertainment Community Fund, to help ensure the striking writers don't go broke. This is gonna be especially big since it's seriously looking like SAG-AFTRA is gonna strike after all.
As I said, if the WGA believes a boycott is necessary and will help their goals they will announce it through official channels. Until the WGA calls for a boycott, DO NOT BOYCOTT. Thank you have a good day.
