Had an absurd nightmare wherein my vile former high school English teacher administered an essay based exam. I had 90 minutes to read two specific selections from the enormous literature textbook and write a comparative analysis on them.
The texts were as follows: a section of Hands of the Emperor by Victoria Goddard and a very long explicit episode from a memoir wherein the author had some sort of homosexual awakening during a threesome with a (dream fictive) Star Trek actor and his wife. I spent most of the allotted time frantically reading the selections and had no idea how to answer the incredibly vague prompt in the remaining exam period.
Even after becoming aware that the exam had been a dream and falling back asleep, I found myself compelled to write my essay, a state which was alleviated only by the strange and improbable nature of my assigned texts.
#it’s been six years since I had to deal with that woman and yet#funnily enough one of my issues with her class was receiving very open ended questions or prompts#to which she often expected a very particular sort of response#in emotional tenor if not content#that and the emotional manipulation#my blather#at least the dream was funny afterwards#they were in the fuckin textbook#the big glossy paged textbook with discussion questions and colorful graphics

#random post#if you are curious about the binders they are. in order:#Pokémon cards. loose doodle binder. old loose drawing binder. OLD drawing binder (like there’s smth from 2012 and also kindergarten I think)#Spanish binder. A&P textbook. and a mostly empty binder that had some more A&P notes in it :3#if you wanted the gist of me. there it is#there are only 2 books here that I actually picked out myself and they are the graphic novel and the manga lmao#everything else has kinda just been thrust upon me#like. I’ve never even picked out my own sketchbooks lol!! I’ve still got like 6 empty ones!#oh and if you’re wondering why I have a kinda bible. it has realy pretty illustrations in it. like I’m not religious really but like#it’s written for children so it gets the point acros to me easier lmfao

#help i cant find enzymatic pathways in the textbook#my brain is also telling me to drop out but its past 9pm and ive been told not to trust my thoughts after that time period#also if i drop out i basically won't be able to find a job that i like#cause bio (which im studying) is the only thing im good at (art is subjective so) and id definitely need a degree for that#and i doubt anyone would hire a dropout graphic design student#and i hate my art anyways so i wont even want to put myself out there#but i feel like I'm failing (im not i just have 3 missing assignments and have no motivation to do them)#i also have my summer class extension time running out and i feel like ive gotten nowhere#and im feeling lightheaded from hyperventilating about it all so yippee!!!

#aurateur#he's so right though#some of them are fun but the majority are just visual/audio effects with zero gameplay design#wonder is the textbook definition of style over substance.... which is a shame because the style is excellent#it is fun.... but not $60 fun#it feels like a dsiware game with fancy graphics#I'll say it again - modelers and animators working overtime doesnt make up for designers and developers who take it easy
