Ayden is not very pleased when his son informs him that the new girl is asking uncomfortable questions and decides to do something about it. He doesn’t alter much with his vampiric hypnosis; he just quells her curiosity a bit. She will realize sooner or later that most of Moonlight Fall’s residents are not entirely human, but it wouldn’t do for a girl of fourteen to dig into his family’s affairs.

That, and he makes sure that when she finds out, she won’t think about it too much, but merely accept it as a fact of life.

It really is amazing what supernatural abilities and a lack of moral qualms can do.
