"Nothing can, capture the sting."
May 29th, '25.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Listen to the music to enhance the reading experience.)
Tumblr media
The day unfolded like a shrug.
A sky too blank. A room too neat. The air hung without texture, like something forgotten before it was even named. Tony moved through it anyway—out of habit, maybe, or obligation. He ran diagnostics with the same idle detachment someone might water plants they never really looked at. The coffee brewed. He drank it. Too bitter. He didn’t change it.
The hours blurred.
Someone knocked at some point. A courier, probably. He signed without reading the label. There was a call with someone in Tokyo—he cracked a joke he didn’t finish. Laughed half a second too late. The suits hummed on their rails. The lab whispered like it always did, a gentle reminder of things that once excited him, now just routines he folded himself into like laundry.
At 2:13 PM, he stopped walking mid-hallway.
For no reason at all.
Just a pause. An odd stillness, like the kind you feel when you’ve misplaced something—wallet, phone, name—but can't trace what’s missing.
He looked at his hands. No grease. No tremor. Just… there. As if they belonged to someone else today.
There had been something he meant to do, hadn’t there?
Or maybe that was yesterday. Or a week ago. The notion dissolved before it fully formed. So he moved on, letting the silence fill the cracks where memory should have lived.
The others didn’t call.
But why would they? There was no occasion. No event. No red circle on any wall-hung calendar. Not even FRIDAY chimed in with a reminder or an ironic note. No balloon emojis from Peter. No package from Pepper. Not even a message from Rhodey, who always remembered the things Tony didn’t.
But it didn’t feel like anything was missing. Just a faint buzzing absence, like walking into a room right after someone’s left.
By late afternoon, the shadows had lengthened and bled over the floor like ink. The lights stayed off. He didn’t notice.
He sat in the living room—half in the chair, half out of thought. A drink in his hand. Ice melted. Unnoticed. His gaze fixed on nothing.
It had been an unremarkable day. Which was fine.
Not every day needed purpose.
And yet, something tugged at him. Quietly. Persistently. The way an old scar itches before a storm. The feeling of stepping over a spot that once mattered. Like standing in a hallway and forgetting why you came.
The kind of sadness that didn't show up with violins or tears. Just a hollow sort of forgetting. Of not knowing what you’d lost.
It was only later, sometime past nine, that he passed a drawer in his room. One that stuck. One he hadn’t opened in… months? Years? It snagged on the way out, coughing up a cascade of papers, pens, and an old photograph wedged between two receipts.
A birthday card.
Bent at the edges. From… Maria.
No date on the front. Just her handwriting.
Look at you, my little moonbeam.
Try not to set the kitchen on fire today.
His breath caught. Just slightly. Like a glitch.
Something shifted in his chest. Like a floorboard creaking underfoot.
It was today, wasn’t it?
Or yesterday?
Or maybe a week ago?
No… it had to be today.
That was the thought that finally formed, full and sudden. Crashing down without welcome.
His birthday.
He hadn’t known.
Hadn’t even remembered it long enough to feel forgotten.
And for a man who once lit the sky on his own name-day, who built celebrations into spectacle, who wrapped meaning in champagne and fire—this… silence was foreign. Terrifying in its gentleness.
No one had said anything.
But worse—neither had he.
There was a kind of grief in that.
The slow kind.
The kind that doesn’t cry, doesn’t scream—just settles.
He held the card like something fragile, something fossilized. Like maybe if he stared long enough, he could crawl back into a memory that hadn’t faded around the edges yet. Maybe he could remember what it used to feel like—to be known, even for just a day.
But the moment passed.
The card went back in the drawer.
The silence resumed its reign.
And Tony?
He turned off the lights. Let the city’s glow spill through the windows and wash over him, impersonal and indifferent.
It was just another day.
And if it wasn’t, he wasn’t sure he’d know the difference.

Eclipse Trip Report, Part 2
Sunday was an even more perfectly gorgeous day! We spent it exploring our home park. Here's the lake and swimming beach area:
Tumblr media
Like most of the Pennsylvania state parks, the lake was formed by adding a little dam:
Tumblr media
In addition to being eclipse weekend, it was also the opening weekend of trout season, so the park was pretty busy:
Tumblr media
All the exploring made Sophie sleepy:
Tumblr media
The campground was completely full Sunday night, and mostly full Saturday and Monday nights. Most of the people were in campers, but there were a few hardy souls braving it in tents. (The daytime weather was pleasant, but it got very cold at night!) We had people from all the neighboring states, and I also saw cars from Kentucky and Michigan.
Back at the campsite, I used my new cast-iron pot to make stew over the fire:
Tumblr media
It's the kind with little legs so you can sit it right in the coals, but my fire ring had a big rock right in the middle, so I had to sit it on the rock and piled the fuel up around it.
The stew came out pretty well, though:
Tumblr media
I made some of the flour-and-yogurt bread, too--I was going to try to do that over the fire, but with the rock situation, I ended up doing it over my bottle-gas camping stove instead, and then just put it over the fire to keep warm.
My dad showed up just in time for dinner, and then pretty much fell asleep right after. We hung extra blankets from the top bunks to provide some semblance of privacy, which is what my sister and I used to do growing up:
Tumblr media
Eclipse day, we drove out to the park on Chautaqua. The weather was like this:
Tumblr media
And pretty much stayed that way until about 15 minutes after totality. We got to the park pretty early--about 11, for totality at 3:17. I'd allowed plenty of time for traffic, which turned out to be completely unnecessary; there was less traffic than when I did my scouting trip on Saturday. There were maybe 3 or 4 cars already parked at the marina when we got there, so we went and got breakfast and then came back.
By the time the partiality started, the row of prime parking spaces right on the water had filled up:
Tumblr media
(The orange cooler and chairs are our spot.) The sun occasionally peeked out, during partiality, which you could tell because of how everybody shouted and scrambled for their eclipse glasses. This band of clear sky toward the southeast steadily widened as we got closer to totality:
Tumblr media
Which prompted lots of hopeful remarks on the theme of how the clear bit just might make it to where the sun was, in time. (Spoiler: it did not.)
During totality, I got one fraction of a second glimpse of about half of the sun's corona; other than that, the main thing to see was the 360 sunset effect, where the light from outside the path of totality was reflecting off the clouds. It was fairly neat:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We also heard some nighttime calls from birds on the lake. It was not as spectacular as a clear-sky eclipse would have been, but it was interesting and somewhat eerie.
As totality ended, you could see it getting lighter by the second, and the band at the street party on the opposite side of the lake started playing "Here Comes the Sun."
Tumblr media
They could, perhaps, have tried playing it a little earlier, because about 15 minutes later, the sky started to clear, and we had an excellent view of the second half of partiality.
And there was still no traffic, and my dad had never seen Lake Erie, so we drove up there afterwards--we just did the Barcelona beach, because he was driving back that night. You could tell by the state of the trash cans and port-a-potties that they'd had a bit of a crowd, but by the time we got there--with totality not even entirely over--we had it nearly to ourselves:
Tumblr media
And I found this piece of slate that I think might possibly be a fossil imprint of something:
Tumblr media
A different angle of it:
Tumblr media
I have no idea how you tell, but none of the other pieces of slate on the beach has a texture like that, so there must be something unusual about it. (Just in case anyone is wondering, rock collecting is listed on the beach's website as one of the activities you can do there. It is a licitly-obtained free-range rock.)
And that was about it for the trip! My dad went home that night, and Sophie and I followed the next morning. We did encounter some traffic on the way home, but it wasn't anything too drastic--about like how it gets in that area on Penn State football weekends.
Here are a few more cottage photos. This is the upper bunks and ceiling:
Tumblr media
The view from my bunk:
Tumblr media
The standing fan was provided; I've never had one of those in park lodgings before. The trash can is also fairly unusual.
Here's the bunks without all my stuff in the way:
Tumblr media
The little ledge with the lamp is a nice touch, too--a lot of the time, all you get is a ceiling light.
Sophie says, this was fun, but it's time to go home now!
Tumblr media
Exterior view in the sun:
Tumblr media
And here's one of the park yurts:
Tumblr media
I stayed in one of these once; they're kind of neat. The walls are made of several layers of tarpaulin-type material, on a wooden frame. There's a wooden floor inside, and they have electricity. The top of the roof is a see-through dome, which you can also raise up if you want ventilation.
Anyway, that was our eclipse trip! It was a good time and I'm glad I went, even though I didn't have the totality experience that I hoped for. (Now I'm trying to convince my dad we should try again in Iceland in 2026. His turn to pay, since I got this one!)

100 days to acnh challenge - 1 to 74
found this challenge and decided it would be a great way to pass the time until the release date, and a good way to get people to know me a lil better too c’: i feel so powerful starting at this point, there are so few days left to wait!
1. Do you prefer making up a new name for your villager, or using your own name? i never, ever used my own name... i always felt like this would be boring, and i kinda want to give myself the opportunity to create a new “character” based on the events that happen to them in the game... (my first character in wild world was named Scarlet :^)) 2. Do you use the first map you’re given, or do you reset for layouts? i am bige resetter with bige plans all jokes aside i am way too indecisive and spent way too much time on this, i would even check people’s dream towns prior to resetting to gather ideas and fresh input on this. though usually, each time i remade my town i had a specific kind of map in mind? most of all, i like having a secluded nice little corner to put my house (being able to move your house in nh is a game changer honestly!) grass type and colors of buildings also matter. residents not so much because, hey, i can also reset for that later! (i am terrible) 3. Do you use the face you’re given, or do you wait for guides and choose your favourite? similarly, i use a guide. i think the only times i didn’t was my first times in wild world where i didn’t really have access to a fast internet connection :’^) (guess what i am also indecisive about this! my most used are the classic arched villager eyes, the almond shaped ones and the shiny anime ones THEY ARE TOO CUTE) 4. Favourite town/island name?/Have you a name picked out for your town/island? I WON’T SAY YET... i have multiple options for now and idk what to do... but my nl town is named Suzuran, and i really like this name :] 5. Will you be sharing with friends/family, or is your island going to be all your own? probably gonna be my own! my mother used to have a character in my wild world town though :) 6. What’s a new feature you’re excited about? ALL but mostly the terraforming/switching everything up options!! for...reasons mentioned above... also the weeds. i never really got to dupe clovers or stuff like that so i am very pumped 7. Favourite fruit? buttfruit peaches probably... i also love perfect oranges and perfect pears because they’re like golden... i like gold like perfect fruits in general hehe i also love the new fruits in new leaf! 8. Least favourite fruit? apples are a bit tacky to me but i still love them i am sad i cannot really make a lot of fruit trees work in my minimally colored nl towns... some people do it so well though and i am TRYING 9.  Favourite area? (Beach, campground, shopping district etc, from any entry in the series.) THIS IS HARD I DON’T HAVE A LOT OF MEMORIES i have fond memories of the beach in wild world just because of some people’s really pretty hacked towns. like they added a whole “manor” (big player house) in front of it and that was the bomb. i also loved the cliffs in city folk and am so glad they are back... 10. Where do you like to like to put your house? Do you like that level of customization, or do you prefer to have some things decided, like in older entries? as i said i like secluded, remote areas for the house, and i also loved to put it near the cliff in city folk! (you better be fully awake if you step out)  the beach is a neat option too. but in nl my favorite was next to a waterfall! 11.  Favourite grass pattern? triangles! when i was a kid it was my least fav and i always avoided it though... then i visited a friend’s cf town and was like “wait this is MORE LIKE REAL GRASS” and i had an awakening...  12. Least favourite grass pattern? circles are a bit... odd for grass i think 13. Favourite villager/s? purrl was my absolute queen when i played wild world and still is. i love cats in general... and deer. and coco. coco is so my aesthetic and goals for a town feeling if you know what i mean, i adore her. doyoing 14. Least favourite villager/s? i am basic and like cute things so the least cute and mostly most tacky, bright colored ones... i am sorry...i still care about all your villagers 15. Did you like doing Tom Nook’s chores, or did you find those to be a pain? generally speaking i like them when i first play the game because they are immersive and kinda introduce you to the main concepts of the game? (the city in city folk, being mayor in nl etc) but with side characters and resetting they get a bit repetitive and frustrating upping your reputation to be able to work as a mayor in nl also is a pain 16. Favourite NPC/s? label is my queen and wife. i love her sisters too, and tom nook... BLANCA too i adored her when i played wild world and couldn’t get to see her in my town and was so hyped for her nl event laughs, and joan and daisy mae... i’m probably forgetting some faves I LOVE EVERYONE wait KAPPN has cute dialogue too!  17. Least favourite NPC/s? is there one? i don’t know? i’m gonna go check a list of npcs now ... i am back and honestly I DON’T KNOW 18. Do you use paths? Are you excited about the new path tool? i don’t use paths in my town because they are a mess to set up and i love the natural look anyway, but some people do it so well! i love the ones with natural colors and the little details.  the new path tool looks so convenient, but i don’t know if i like the textures! i’ll probably use it sparsely because i also wanna keep that wild look to my town 19. Favourite feature from an older entry?  the lights on the villagers’ houses in wild world is what came to mind first, hahah 20. What was your first Animal Crossing game? WILD WORLD!! i played it so much and for so long 21. Favourite activity (fishing, bug catching, fossil hunting, other)? bug catching (ca-ching) is my fave out of this list, i also love visiting dream towns and playing with friends in general! 22. Least favourite activity? diving is so slow... 23. Favourite bug? the huge butterflies you see in summer (i was AMAZED when i first saw them), the fireflies (SAME, the first time i saw some was in someone else’s town in city folk as we crossed a bridge and it was just magical, laughs), and the big shiny beetles... it’s not just for the monies, i promise 24. Least favourite bug? either the small butterflies that you see everywhere when you’re trying to catch something neat for the bug-off, or the tarentulas/scorpios because i NEVER MANAGED TO CATCH THEM 25. A quarter of the way there! How’s the wait? actually there’s barely a month remaining as we speak, so pretty fine! i still have to pick my character and town names, and to be honest i am mostly worried i’ll start procrastinating like crazy once the game is out. coughs. at least i’ll draw ac characters? 26.  Favourite fish? i love coelacanths because i am a big nerd, also the sharks and the cute colorful fishes 27.  Least favourite fish? just all the most common ones probably? sea bass isn’t the only one... 28.  Favourite fossil?  what are these questions. uh, i loved putting the small squares ones in my room in wild world...especially ammonites 29.  Least favourite fossil? the ones that bring less cash money? i only care about fossils when they’re displayed in the museum tbh. and there i just love them all 30. Favourite furniture series? the ranch series looked way better in wild world and i am mourning now i love alpine, rococo and modern wood the most! the green one looks cool recolored too! i like combining different series the most, too 31. Least favourite furniture series? anything bright and tacky (except maybe the lovely that’s still fairly cute?)  32. Favourite soundtrack? (Gamecube, DS/Wii, etc) i can’t remember but i get huge pangs of nostalgia if i listen to the wild world/city folk one 33. Least favourite soundtrack? i DON’T KNOW... maybe nl was a bit less whismical? 34. Favourite wallpaper? alpine, chic, exquisite, classic, [...] anything that looks warm and natural and makes for a comfortable house!  35. Do you have a nice memory of the games/community etc you’d like to share? when i was a young teen, i idolized someone in the wild world community because her town was honestly incredibly pretty? so much thought has been put into it and it was just a dream. it made me want to invest more time and planning into my own towns and that’s how i got really, really hooked on the game, i think 36. Least favourite wallpaper? anything really colorful and tacky again... 37.  Favourite carpet? the wood ones, mostly! 39. Favourite furniture item? i love the oven thing from pocket camp... and the rocking chair... and the fireplace... 40. Will you be buying a Switch for Animal Crossing, or do you already have one? i have preordered the animal crossing one... i live for this (i am so glad i waited though honestly) 41. Least favourite furniture item? the huge tacky things or things that just look odd in a house perhaps... wait but i still like to see them and some people use them so well. why would i hate on furniture i wonder 42. Favourite flower? jacob’s ladders and white flowers in general. i adore the look of the ones in nh, holy sh- 43. Least favourite flower? pretty much anything that’s yellow. just never goes with my town plans... the roses especially are so bright i’m 44. Favourite hybrid? i miss the colors of the ones in ww/cf so much... so so much but in general i like anything that’s purple, black or blue i think :> 45. Least favourite hybrid? hmmmm the orange ones from new leaf i think? in the previous games they were so rich and warm though... 46. Favourite shirt? the canary shirt, maybe? though i mostly use qr codes, ahaha some of these outfits are still super cute... 47. Favourite dress? anything pocket camp tends to be good, also this one forever in my heart. i adore the flowery sleeveless dresses too! 48. Favourite accessory? bandages, heart shades, leaf, and tortoise specs! 49. Favourite hat/helmet? celeste’s ribbon, hibiscus hairpin, and that tiny straw hat 51. Favourite shop? i always adored able sisters, and leif’s little gardening shack :> 52. Do you collect amiibo cards/figures? Would you like to see them used in the new game? we know they are compatible now, but i don’t have any! maybe i should buy some? 53. Fishing Tourney or Bug-Off? bug-off is quicker and funnier >:] also i remember i ALWAYS WON in cf while playing with friends... fight me... 54. Do you like making your own clothing patterns? there are so many nice ones already that my slots are always full, so i don’t bother... i remember making a two-toned shirt that i wanted irl when i got new leaf, but that’s pretty much all 55. Did you streetpass with many other ACNL players, or is it a feature you didn’t get much use of? I ALMOST NEVER DID...
56. Favourite villager species? CATS... also, deer. basic basic 57. Least favourite villager species? mice and monkeys have the least cute designs i think...? also hamsters idk. i don’t know i like villagers don’t make me choose 58. Favourite nickname from a villager? 59. Least favourite nickname from a villager? I NEVER LET THEM NICKNAME ME... i am sorry to all the aminals 60. Do you try to collect everything in the game, or just try to get your favourite bits and pieces? in wild world i tried to fill my catalog, but now i only get what i need or what i know my friends might need 61. Favourite villager personality? i always had a thing for the snooty and cranky ones! the uchis are cool now too 62. Least favourite villager personality? the jocks are boring to me and they tend to have my least fav designs. when i like one i keep them though because it is so rare...wheeps 63. Do you “plot reset” for villager house placement, or do you let them move in wherever they want? i only really started doing that with the welcome amiibo update that apparently makes it easier, else i just waited for the annoying ones to move... (and time travelled a lot) 64. Are you excited to wear any of the new accessories (like the bags etc shown in the E3 trailer)? i will COLLECT THOSE and COLOR COORDINATE 65. What season are you most looking forward to seeing in New Horizons? 66. What’s your favourite season? i think summer, i want to hear the cicadas and see the fireflies again, and i also want to see how the rain and wind look like! i remember seeing really pretty storms in nl during summer too ♥ 67. Least favourite season? winter gets slow after a while? i still love it though 68. Which game’s events/holidays do you like the most? 69. Which game’s events/holidays do you like least? i don’t remember ‘-’ honestly i feel like i liked them all for different reasons? wild world felt more “involved” in the community, REMEMBER THE GARDENING CONTESTS! and city folk gave you better rewards and was a fun minigame for the day.  70. Do you have another nice AC related memory you’d like to share (in-game, of the community, etc)? i had a vivid dream that your character could DIE in animal crossing once (i predicted new horizons yes) 71. Do you prefer the “live” versions of K.K. Slider’s Songs, or the airchecks? i tend to prefer the airchecks but the concerts are Special, no matter if it’s with friends or alone 72. An NPC you’d like to see more of? mmmnnh blanca always. i love her spirit 73. An NPC you’d like to see less of? really unpopular opinion probably but i wouldn’t miss reese and cyrus too much if they aren’t as present in nh 74. If you could have any piece of AC merchandise, which would it be? the plushies are so good... i’d like like... a fauna one... idk WHEW I’M DONE... i’ll be posting the rest of it daily now!

Animorphs notes: Megamorphs 2
Megamorphs 2
Marco 1
Saw something on the news and mentioned it to the others leading to everyone in a storm trying to breathe in dolphin morph
Of course its not like sharks need to breath air and might be better in some cases
Marco uses humor to cope
Rainy day
So why are the animorphs getting involved with a sunken nuclear sub?
Marco wants to go out of his way to save people again.
Him and Rachel are like the most likely on the team to become superheros
Or they could put their stuff in a bag and bury it on the beach instead of putting things in the trash?
How exactly do these guys plan on rescuing people?
Cassie 1
Everybody morphs dolphin
They find the sub
Jake 1
Ah yes the plan to kidnap an officer. Totally would have no negative reprocussions
Can’t just act in a weird and obvious manner to direct people to the sub
Sometimes dolphins help people, sometimes dolphins kill people. Its a rulette game as to whichever a dolphin is more interested in at the moment
The writter makes a comment on war and nukes
A nuke goes off and instead of being vaporised by the light the kids get transported through time and space for some reason
Rachel 1
One of these days a kid is gonna get trapped in morph when they’re uncoincious
Cassie’s the only one who had any injuries from the fucking nuke going off
Why is there a volcano over there? There shouldn’t be volcanoes where they are
Rachel watches the Magic Schoolbus
That’s not how plesiosaurs work and you could never mistake them for a whale even with sonar
Ax is smug about those not being whales
Tobias 1
Why the hell are fucking plesiosaurs intered in them in the first place?
Tobias got vored by something big enough to swallow a 10ft at least dolphin whole
This is causing me pain
Rachel got vored by something that can fit 2 ten or so foot dolphins inside its stomach
Looked it up and yeah no, plesiosaurs were def known to not have flexible necks by the time this was written
No that can’t be an ichthyosaur b/c they’re gone by this point in the Cretaceous and the on ly ones that big were likely FILTER FUCKING FEEDERS
Random ass gulper eel dolphin sea monster
Rachel decides that morphing is the best idea in the stomach
Tobias morphs too
Jake 2
Ax doesnt get to have a turn yet what a surprise
Cassie says they should try to rescue Rachel and Tobias, Jake says thats a fucking dumb idea and he’s right
Jake is pissed at people getting themselves eaten and Cassie coming up with dumb fucking idea
There should actually be some seagull like dinosaurs but I think those were discovered much later than these were written
Kids finally put 2 and 2 together and realized that they aint in Kansas anymore
They havent actually put togther the gone back in time bit yet
Jake and the writer seem to be under the impression that dolphins have no natural defenses
They are almost there in realizing what happened
Cassie 2
Still no fucking Ax narration
THESE KIDS ARE REALLY FUCKING DUMB
Sauropods did not leave elephant like foot prints. At all
Nope not figured it out yet
Cassie, you should know that whales can’t swallow whole full gown dolphins
Cassie almost gets eaten by a crocodilian and these kids still haven’t fucking figured it out
Wait a minute. Grass doesn’t exist in this time period
Also Cassie should know better. Herbivores can and will fuck you up with little provication
They finally figured it out
I see we have movie monster Tyrannosaurs
Rachel 2
Wow Ax really doesnt have any rights does he?
...that’s not how anatomy
Bears are not herder to digest than dolphins
This is hurting ,me
Tobias everything you said aside from the hadrosaurs was pure bullshit
Rachel thinks the dinosaur angle is rediculous
Tobias 2
Tobias you have a fucking hork-bajir morph you utter dumbass
Wow Tobias is bad at morphing, he can’t even get rid of his injuries
Tobias gets to be extra useless and cause Rac hel pain by haveing to perch on her
Grass doesnt exist in this time period
There was a gradual decline in the late Cretaceous of nonavien dinosaurs, the asteroid was the last nail in the coffin
T. rex was just another animal not not much more dangerous than say a lion, just bigger
Marco 2
Ax doesnt get to narrate I guess
There is no reason for the tyrannosaur to be chasing them it just made a fucking kill
They aren’t even the right size to be worth the fucking effort either
Marco almost gets eaten and is saved by Ax who papercuts the thing to death
Ax 1
Yeaaaah Ax vs Tyrannosaur should not end in victory for Ax
I flatout don’t belive this rediculousness and my suspension of disbelife died several chapters ago
Ax is fucking shook that worked
Ok good Ax was very very fucking lucky that worked and not gonna try that again
No, Ax, no that is not scientificly possible b/c theres no fucking dna in the fucking fossiles they are bone and other shit shaped rocks
When the fuck did Cassie get any survival skills? Did she decide to brush up after the Karen incident
Well we have ‘I will survive this with or without you’!Cassie today
Yall could actually morph Ax and have your own andalite tails. Or fucking morph hork-bajir
Rachel 3
Grass still doesnt exist yet
At no point did rachel think to escue some modesty and make wraps for her feet
Rachel suggests that Tobias morph human, even perminatly
He is very shit at morphing
I guess he expects that he’s got days to live as a wounded bird over anything else he could fucking morph
Rachel refuses to fucking make it known that she’s suffering
In what fucking world does that description matach a triceratops
Also deinonychus, not around at the end of the cretaceous
Deinonychus is about almost 3 ft tall at hip and a ft longer than that
Naked ass ones at that
Them going after them at least makes sense
Cassie 3
Camping and eating tyrannosaur meat
Gonna sleep in shifts
People keep forgetting that they have hork-bajir morphs which are amazing and also that they could just aquire Ax
Tobias 3
Nothing about the majority of large dromaeosaurs suggests that they’re fast. The opposite actually. Ambush predators not chasers.
Tobias and Rachel split up
Tobias and the writers forgot about wing assisted incline running and the fact that raptors can fucking climb if the have to
Tobias drops on one and aquires it
Tobias 4?
This is going with the not-dynonicus being diurnal for some reason
Tobias lost control of the morph and will probably attack Rachel
Jake 3
The rock that was the final nail for the dinos is estableshed bvery firmly\
Stampede
And a nother tyrannosaur
Jake trips and falls when it matters most
Rachel 4
Tobias is really serious about not identifying as human
Rachel tries to reach him over smashing the lead raptor
Jake 4
Jake gets vored by the tyrannosaur whole even tho it was already eating bigger more interesting prey
Jake aquires the thing and starts morphing imediately
That tyrannosaur broke its fucking tail
Everyone aquires the injured dinosaur
Marco 3
Marcos not happy and everyone misses Rachel
More travel
Ax says the flash of light that started the stampede was artifical
Did Ax just say he can see ultraviolet and infrared
They find an alien city
Tobias 5
Tobias is bitching about Rachel still being mad that he gutted her
Neither of them are healing their injuries for no good reason
Ew, Tobias gross.
Rachel has a raptor morph now
Rachel isn’t a coherent person when hrungy and tired
Why are there coconut trees? They dont exist yet
Rachel eats a not coconut
No. That is not a fucking spinosaurus. Spino is fucking African and didn’t live at the same time as T.rex
Tobias metally calls Rachel stupid
Rachel 5
This is really fucking poorly reserched
And lo an alien:
And that's when I noticed the other creature step smoothly out from the
bushes.
It walked on two legs. It was rough-textured, like it had really chapped
skin. It was reddish in color. It had two big eyes and a small mouth,
all of the same reddish-rust hue. It stood about eight feet tall. It was
carrying a weapon.
The creature gazed curiously at us with what seemed to be eyes, although
they were mere indentations in its face. From its head a pair of
antennae, flexible as whips, grew and began waving toward us.
The alien calls dibs on the dinosaurs and speaks Fucking English
The nesk
The nesk is a pile of antlike creatures
Anmd really Rachel just fucking escalate things to outright violence
Cassie 4
Cassie suggests that they just go see who the aliens are
And that Jake stay behind b/c she doesnt want to loose more people
The alien city:
We flew toward the shining city in the valley. With osprey eyes I could see much more clearly. I saw buildings that rose in steep, smooth sweeps, like they'd grown from the bedrock. Windows were stuck in odd locations, some aiming out, others more like skylights. And there were fields planted with green and arranged in neat circles instead of rows.
The aliens themselves:
As we got closer, I could see creatures of some sort. They looked a little like large - very large - crabs. Only with shells in a wild array of colors, deep blue, spring green, orange. And while on one side there was something very much like a large pincer, on the other side there was a pair of hands.
Crab people
TRhe kids are attacked by naked pterosaurs
Tobias 6
Wow its almost like starting a fight with an unknown party can go wrong
The ship:
The ground beside me exploded, like it had been ripped by an invisible
plow. I jumped. Another plow mark just behind me! I saw movement. And
there, racing toward us across the plain, was a gleaming, silver craft.
Maybe twice the size of a Bug fighter, but shaped like an elongated
pyramid, long end forward.
The nesk herd Rachel and Tobias away from their claimed territory
Ah they’re falling over the cliff of the mercora city
Jake 5
Daring mid air antics and the team is reunited
Also a force field wich is smart\
Ax is tired of having to be the info guy
At least its not a killer forcefield like the kind that yeerks use
The mercora introduce themselves
Ax 2
Ax and his andalite bullshit
More of the mercora:
There were three of the creatures. They moved upon seven legs. Four on
one side, three on the other. To make matters worse, the four
legs were larger than the three. So they scuttled sideways in the
direction of the small legs.
They stood about half the height of a tall human, and seven or eight
feet wide.
On the side with the four big legs, there was a sort of three-way pincer
claw. It looked very powerful. It looked like the sort of thing I would
not want to have to fight against.
On the other side, the weak side, there were two arms similar to my own,
but even stronger than human arms. The arms ended in long, tapered,
delicate fingers.
There were a lot of eyes. They kept opening and shutting, one or two or
three at a time. They were each hidden beneath tiny trap doors in the
Mercora's exoskeleton or shell. Eyes were forever appearing and
disappearing. It was very, very distracting.
Which is a cool design
They talk in thought speak
Just b/c humans in the future don’t know about the mercora doesnt mean they left or were destroy you dumb fucks
Marco 4
The mercora healed Tobias, gave everyone food, a place to stay and even offered to make them soem clothes
The crabs wear clothing or at least make it
And they have force field furniture
Also that’s not how broccli works
Marco makes a vore joke about the mecora
Really Cassie?
The mercora are herbivores
All you have is the mecoras’ word on that and they are in direct conflict with the nesk
And so what if they’re scavengers?
Very rarely but sometimes Cassie has a valid point
Ax 3
Ax is still kinda specist
Hmm I wonder why the mercora aprove? Its not like they can have an alterior motive here
And the mercora are going to help
Ax is very lonely in genera;
Cassie 5
The writers are fucking awesomebros
And they can’t control the morphs
Cassie gets wounded by a ceratopsian
Jake 6
What? We were just with Cassie oh forget it
Jake is suicidally confidant that Cassie wouldn’t eat him
Apparently Jake is right
Cassie freaks out
Ax 3
Tobias keeps being wrong.
The nesk have thought speak detectors
Tobias 7
They group steal an explosive and destroy the nesk ships
Rachel 6
The nesk retaliate very effectively
Ax calls for back up
TRachel throws herself around to draw away fire from the others
The mercora attempt a rescue and loose a ship
Culture:
The Mercora saucer picked us up, us and our little nuke. But they were a
grim, depressed bunch of aliens. It was hard to tell at first. But then
I noticed that each of them was minus one of their smaller legs. There
were just oozing stumps.
"What happened to your legs?" I asked. But even as the words were out of
my mouth, I saw the limbs in the corner. They were laid out on a
brightly colored cloth which was draped over a shelf. There was
something ceremonial about it. Almost religious.
<Can you explain the meaning of this?> Ax asked politely.
<We must make the sacrifice of pain. The legs will regenerate, but those
we honor will not,> the Mercora pilot said. <This is a symbol. It speaks
to our spirit's pain, by echoing it in physical pain.>
"They did this for the Mercora who were in the other ship?" Jake asked.
<For those who were in both ships,> the pilot said. <To be killed is a
sadness. To kill is a sin.>
Jake says the they owe the mercora for saving them
Fuck you Tobias
Tobias 8
Tobias this is premeditated murder
The nesk have decided to leave the earth
The mercora claim that the nesk altered the path of the meteor
They want to use the bomb to save themselves
Cassie 6
Fuck you Tobias
You need to be held accountable for this shit
Its almost like the vast majority of things to ever live never leave any fucking fossils you nit
This bastard is really trying to justify himself like this is anyway defensible
Fuck you Tobias, you get to join Cassie and Jake in the bin of fucking terrible people
Jake 7
Oh what you little bitch babies can’t handle the consequences?
Tobias deserves his unhappines and eventual death
Cassie 7
Cassie at least decides to bear witness to their crime
CVassie saw the time pass
No good reason given why they can’t retain those morphs
Tobias needs to pay for his shit

Cutie Reviews: Tokyo Treat April 19
Okay, so it occurred to me that I accidentally marked last months TokyoTreat as February <3< I hope that didn’t confuse anyone like it did me. . .
Tumblr media
“Happy Easter to our awesome TokyoTreat family! We hope you’re ready for an exciting mix of treats in your box this month. We have a number of sweet and savory treats for you and pulled together a box of treats we hope will get you into the Easter spirit! Lookout for some special fruity flavors, crunchy crispy texures, and an all-around fun box! Are you ready? We certainly are, so please enjoy this month’s Easter Surprise box!“
Lucky Treat & Contest Prizes
(I always forget to take these pics, but since I had room I decided to get them before starting :P)
Tumblr media
For this months Lucky Treat we have a whole plethora of Pokemon-themed goods x3 from sweets and snacks to home goods to various random knick-knacks and cuddly new plush. This would be perfect for any Pokemon fan.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, the prize features some adorable shiba, and some Pokemon desk figurines. They all look like a lot of fun~
Sakura Cola
Tumblr media
Our first item is this really pretty pink Sakura Cola drink. Now, originally we were supposed to have a Banana Yogurt Fanta drink, but because of everything related to the box being curated months in advance and the last-minute switch, this new drink wasn’t put into the booklet. Instead we got a note about it, explaining that because this was such a new drink and everyone has been requesting Sakura-flavored items, they had to include this.
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥
I wasn’t disappointed by the last-minute swap in drink items, and I love this shade of pink so I fell in love with this drink quickly. Unfortunately, as pretty as it looks... its taste is weird.
It’s sort of like... a really light or bland cola, with a faint floral aftertaste that lingers. I can’t really say it reminds me of previous Sakura/cherry blossom tastes I’ve had. It does have a smoothness to it though, and I feel like the more I drink the better it gets. But it’s still a little weird to me.
---
Our DIY for the month is a Chocolate Banana Soft Candy DIY kit we’ve already had before. I think around last Easter or some months ago, I do remember it though so I won’t be doing a review post on it. It’s great if you like easy to no instructions and like banana- but it tastes very artificial to me and the only part I like is the chocolate and candy...
Tohato Caramel Corn Tiramisu & Good Moist Chocolate
Tumblr media
Our first item is the ever-so-popular Tohato Caramel Corn in Tiramisu flavor. This chocolate is baked with cocoa flavors and those in the tiramisu dessert, and it’s enhanced with coffee to add that extra touch.
The entire bag is 425 calories; so you shouldn’t eat these all at once or alone. I can’t say this brand is healthy, but in small doses it’s okay.
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Okay, so I never actually had real tiramisu before; I think I tried it once in a set of exotic puddings I bought at the store, but it wasn’t like the actual dessert.
However, I think this tastes delicious. They’re light chocolate with a pinch of saltiness and coffee. The coffee isn’t really bitter or anything, and until reading the information i didn’t realize there was coffee flavoring in this.
If you don’t like coffee I’m not sure how you would like these; but I feel like they’re tolerable, unless you’re extremely sensitive to it.
----------
To go with these, with also have this off-brand bag of good moist chocolate, which is chocolate said to melt in the mouth. These come in circle shapes, but as you can see in the picture there are also some heart-shaped ones. I’m not sure why but I think it’s adorable~♥
The entire bag is 192kcal, and they have a crispy texture and are completely soaked in chocolate.
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥
See, now these actually taste bitter. They’re not bad or anything, and I like dark chocolate a lot, but I don’t think that’s what they use in these... and I found them to be meh. The booklet says they melt in your mouth (they also like these way more than I do :P), but I didn’t enjoy them enough to wait and find out. I noticed a little melting but nothing too extreme or exciting...
Okin Milk Coffee Crisps & Banana Kit-Kats
Tumblr media
Next up we have some milk coffee-flavored little crisps (that reminds me a teensy big of fossilized dinosaur heads) by coming in a cutesy bag that resembles a canned drink!
The entire bag is 77kcal.
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
These remind me a lot of a cereal, like the rice puffs from the previous box. They taste good, a lot more coffee-ish than the tiramisu caramel corn and it lingers in the mouth more noticeably. They don’t taste bitter but again if you don’t like coffee you might not be fond on these.
-------
Next is an item I won’t be reviewing because we’ve had it before. These banana kit-kats are exactly the same as last years Easter box; nothing is different. They have a banana milk-ish taste I find tolerable- but I still don’t like bananas, so I usually share these ones more than the others :P
Furuta Egg Chocolate & Rice Puff Bar
Tumblr media
Our next item is a fun one- because not only does it come in this neat egg container to go with the holiday, but the egg came in a few different colors :D but as you can see, the inside candy is essentially non-marked, dull colored M&Ms.
I’ve decided not to review these ones because hasn’t everyone had M&Ms at least once? they have a crunchy non-flavored candy shell over chocolate; which tastes a bit different than M&Ms do.
-----
Meanwhile, this is kind of a not-really funny story, but when I used the rice puff in this I though it was sweet because last months were. I prefer savory rice snacks, and I was very delighted to find out this was!
Sorta, it’s made with sweet soy sauce- which is absolutely one of my most favorite things ever~
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
The only way this could be better would be if the soy sauce flavoring was stronger. But to be fair it might have been back when I got this, I don’t know, it wasn’t opened beforehand.
The flavoring is light, so I want to say it’s a great blend of both sweet and savory, because it doesn’t bring to mind sugary cereal, nor does it remind one of a rice dish. It reminded me a lot of something I had before, but I can’t think of what...
Anpanman Mini-Chocolate Lollipop & Sherbet Cola Candy Stick
Tumblr media
Who doesn’t love a good lollipop now and then? Our first item in this set is an adorable Anpanman chocolate lollpop featuring the adorable Dokinchan (my favorite anpanman character). The chocolate is half strawberry and half milk, and this is a mini one, so as you can assume they do have bigger ones. I have seen them before.
The brand is Fujiya, and this is 30kcal.
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
It’s very tasty, it reminds me a lot of those yummy apollo chocolates. The only disappointing thing is that its gone in like two seconds ;P
(Also, as a side note the top piece the chocolate is on resembles Anpanman. On the opposite end is Dokinchan, they’re so cute~)
-----
Our partner item is an adorable cola-flavored lollipop in a sherbet powder. The powder tastes like soda (the blue kind in Japanese candy obvs) and it has a little bit of foaminess to it~
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Both flavors individually and together are delicious. The powder has a bit of a tanginess to it but it isn’t sour or anything, while the lollipop is sort of a mild-sweetness, so it’s not overly sugary or anything. It’s just perfect :3 I loved every second of it.
Kappa Shrimp 4-pack & Garlic Edamame Chips
Tumblr media
Our next items are both by the brand Calbee (which I didn’t realize when I took the picture, but the color should have tipped me off?), first is the 4-pack set of Kappa Shrimp, which I won’t be reviewing because we’ve already had it before.
I will say this though. Each bag is 60 kcal, and if you like light crunchy snacks and the flavor of shrimp you’ll probably like these? A few years ago I loved eating shrimp but then I got over it, and I really don’t like seafood as a whole, so these I’m... eh, with. By that I mean, they’re not my favorite, but I don’t actually hate them.
-------
I always get excited when we get Japanese Chips; I’m not a huge chip fan, but I love their unique flavors! This time we got a bag of sweet edamame mixed with salty garlic to create a lovely, delicious, and crunchy blend.
Each bag is 305kcal. Which is kind of a lot, but if you share them or eat them in a few sittings it’s not so bad.
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
I can’t say these taste sweet or salty, they’re actually pretty peppery if you ask me. They make me think of a really yummy garlic bread with a hint of edamame, and they have a hard crunch- which I usually dislike since it makes my mouth sore, but I find it tolerable in this case~
Dragon Bar Umaibo & Corn Potage Crisps
Tumblr media
These our are final 2 items, a special and unique Umaibo (which was part of a collab with a game I forgot the name of...) said to be “Dragon“ flavored. If you’re curious in this, I’ve seen it on Blippo.com, and the TokyoTreat online store might have them in...
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥
So if you don’t like spoilers I’d suggest not reading this next part.
Dragon flavor is actually Soda. It tastes exactly like soda flavoring and seems a little foamy. It’s very weird, but I don’t hate it.
----
The final item is more up my alley :P it’s a corn potage snack and if you’ve been around long, you’ll remember my most favorite Umaibo is the corn potage one. So whenever we have corn portage or just corn flavored anything, I always have high hopes it’ll be good~
The bag is only 48kcal, so I feel like this would be a nice snack to have because you get a lot of them per-bag.
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
They’re very delicious~ They have a typical corn/corn potage flavor and are lightly crisp. I would recommend them if you see them.
♥ Cutie Ranking ♥
Content - 5 out of 5. Everything was very tasty, and if you like banana you’d probably love this one. Nothing tasted bad or was too intense, except for the banana items for me personally but it’s not fair to judge it on that. Quality was good, nothing tasted stale or expired, the repetition wasn’t too bad this time around either.
Theme - 1 out of 5. Here was where the box kind of flopped, yes in comparison to the other boxes I can say this one is probably the most Easter oriented, but in comparison to last year I feel like it was heavily lessened. They only gave us 2 Easter items, 1 was a repeat I’m pretty sure, and the other was similar to another item we had in another box. Nothing really special or unique...
Total Rank: 7 out of 10. The items are fine and good, again I hate banana but I don’t want to discredit it over that. I’m only really disappointed by the failure of a theme. I would otherwise recommend the box because I thought everything as pretty good. Also, as I suspected, they removed the health snack. We haven’t had it for... what 3 boxes now? So far they’ve been getting rid of everything I liked DX first the cute bonus items, then the original characters, they have also been giving us the boring repetitive DIY kits too lately so I’m not too happy about that either...
♥ Cutie’s Scale of Yummy ♥
1. Garlic Edamame Potato Chips- This one gave me the stronger flavor and quantity I wanted in the corn crisps :P the flavor is a bit odd at first bite, but addictively tasty~
2. Corn Potage Crisps - Surprisingly this isn’t my #1 of the box, but only because I wish the flavor was a little stronger and it’d be nice if we had more of it~
3. Cola Candy Stick - I wasn’t sure what to expect with the “sherbet“ but the soda flavor goes well with the cola. I love both of them together and seperately~
4. Rice Puff Bar - I loved snacking on this, but the flavor needs to be stronger~
5. Caramel Corn Tiramisu - Pretty much a better version of the below, and sweeter, but not overbearingly so like previous Caramel Corn I’ve had. I love the crispy texture.
6. Okin Milk Coffee Crisps - Honestly I didn’t have too much of an opinion of these, but I do like them. The coffee taste lingers though, so I wouldn’t recommend them to non-coffee fans.
7. Anpanman Chocolate - Dokinchan is so cute, and I love strawberry. I just wish it was bigger!
8. Kappa Shrimp - Had them before, I don’t hate them and I’m sure if you like shrimp you’ll love these.
9. Good Moist Chocolate - I didn’t hate these, but I can’t say I liked them either. I loved the heart-shaped pieces though.
10. Dragon Umaibo - I didn’t hate it, but it was so weird, in a fun sort of way.
11. Sakura Cola - I love how pretty it is but I had higher hopes for it...
12.  Egg Chocolate - They weren’t anything special but I thought the egg container was cute.
13. Banana Kitkats - They were okay but because they’re nothing new and my disliking of banana... yeah...

The NTH Tropics were inspired by the compressor-case diving watches which proliferated from the late ’50’s to mid ’70’s – marvels of engineering which established an iconic design language. Fortunately for us, the Tropics are made by Chris ‘Doc’ Vail, a man who isn’t afraid to push a good design to the limits, and push his manufacturing partners to deliver.
NTH Azores, seen here on a metallic purple Timex strap. When your dial is this cool, you can pull off purple metallic.
First, some history is required. A compressor case, or even a super compressor case, is defined by one thing, really; It has a caseback that is held under tension that can move, depending on the forces acting on it. In this way, it doesn’t need a helium escape valve for saturation diving.  The reason the Helium Escape Valve exists is because Helium is a small molecule, and difficult to keep out of watches. When you’d saturation dive, the Helium would get into the watch, and as you resurfaced, the pressures inside the watch would be greater than those outside, and it would blow the crystal clean off. The caseback on the compressor watches allowed Helium to escape through the caseback, where a screwed-on caseback with a tightly compressed rubber seal would not. The Super-Compressors use a screw-on case back, excepting the Enicar models which use a bayonet mount caseback. The Compressor and Compressor 2 casebacks used a bayonet mount caseback.
The Lusina compressor – see how the hands weren’t only used by Omega?
The other notable thing about compressor-cased watches is that they tended to have two crowns, with one turning an internal rotating bezel. When the forces increase as the diver heads deeper, the pressure holds the case back on more tightly. This means that the gaskets weren’t always completely compressed, and that water resistance increased as you moved deeper. It’s kind of a neat trick; you don’t have to worry about sealing the case back with a super-tight wrench, and the gasket might not wear out as fast because it isn’t under compression all the time. The bulk of these watches were rated to 600 feet depth, or about 200 meters give or take. These were made from the 1950s until the 1970s, when that was a common water resistance for most dive watches.
And look at the dial on this Titan, and how similar it is to Azores?
The Super Compressor watches tended to have hatch marks on the crowns and the use of a diver’s helmet logo stamped on the case back. They tended to be made in 36mm and 41mm sizes, with all of the cases made by ESPA, the company that patented the use of the spring to seal the back. ESPA would then sell case sets to other watch brands to package their dial, hands, movement, etc. into them. At that point in history, no-one cared about everything being done in house, unlike watch fans today. Remember, on Rolex watches back then, the cases and movements were made in house, but the bracelets were made by Gay Frères, dials by Beyeler, Singer, Stern, or Lemerich, and so on. On the original Super Compressors, the crowns were at 11 minutes and 19 minutes.
Looking pretty cool on a CincyStrapWorks seatbelt nato
Which brings us to Chris “Doc” Vail, and the Tropics series from his Janis Trading Co. The Tropics are a new series of watches with internal dive bezels and two crowns. These are modern watches, equipped with modern Swiss STP movements, that borrow the best of features from the Super Compressors. (Our prototype shown here is on loan from Doc and equipped with a 9015 Miyota. Pushing to deliver a Swiss movement in a watch originally conceived to house the Miyota is a not-inconsiderable technical challenge of lining up stem height, dial height, and case back height to clear the rotor. Well done to Doc for shipping Swiss, and overcoming these challenges.) The STP1-11 is an ETA 2824-2 design, that STP (owned by Fossil) created back on November 1, 2012. It’s a 4Hz movement with 44 hours power reserve, and even the base model comes with perlage, standard.
First of all, it’s not a genuine Super Compressor, because it’s a screw on back without a spring against the sealing gasket. That’s ok – it pays homage to the Super Compressors without being one. To be completely accurate, there were dual crown watches that weren’t Super Compressors, because Super Compressor really refers to the sealing of the case with a spring in the screw-down caseback, but many people call the dual crown arrangement the Compressor or Super Compressor, accurate or not.
When you buy a NTH Tropic from Janis Trading Co., you’re getting a well-executed watch at a budget price. In the case of the Tropics series, you get a dual crown watch with crowns at 10 and 20. The 20 crown sets the time and is signed NTH. The 10 crown is hash marked like the Super Compressors of old. The caseback has the diver helmet stamped into it, like the compressors of old. It also is marked NTH, 316L Steel, Automatic, Sapphire. That’s the basics, but I’d like to talk about the details. The case starts out with a round shape, no crown guards. It’s sides are brushed vertically. The bezel is a short one, non-rotating, and it adds maybe 1/5 of the total height. It’s polished all over, in contrast to the sides of the case. The nearly flat sapphire crystal stands proud of it by precisely 1.00mm. The lugs are nearly straight, but their outer edge has a sharp bevel which is polished, again in contrast to the rest of the surfaces.
The Azores dial is gorgeous. It recalls the best of Bulova, Titan, Lusina and Eterna KonTiki models, with similar triangle markers at the cardinal 12-3-6-9 directions on the face. The other hour markers are smaller triangles with minute markers in between them. The rotating internal bezel is the highest surface, with the face below it. the minute and hour track of the face is smooth, matté finished. The interior of it is a rough textured finish like the surface vintage watches get after years of exposure to moisture–a fine pebbled patina. Not unlike the contrast between polished and brushed finishes on the outside of the case, the dial is nice to look at as the different surfaces catch the eye. The hands are the real prize here: Where other watch makers would have shipped flat hands, Doc’s hands are three dimensional, peaked along their length in the middle, for both hour and minute hands. When the light catches them, it warms my heart – they’re a sign of quality decision-making and manufacturing that makes the watch feel worth everything Doc asks for it. The hands used here are the Broad Arrow type that I commonly associate with Omega, but they don’t feel out of place here. They were used on the Lusina Super Compressor, and they fit here perfectly. Azores has a date window the 22 minute position.
The bracelet is a solid end link work with 5 across beads of rice, almost like a Jubilee bracelet, but slightly more comfortable. The original bracelet on the IWC Aquatimer looks very similar, but used hollow end links. NTH’s updated version look better, and fit the lugs better, although on these preproduction units, there was a bit of gap between the endlink and lugs that allowed light to shine through when held up to the light. The clasp is similar to that used by Hager on the Aquamariner, or Borealis on the Sea Hawk. Instead of a fold-over flip lock, you have a folding clasp that both locks with two release buttons, and also has micro-adjustments controlled by release buttons. The beauty of this is that you can size the bracelet for a tight fit and then use the clasp to adjust when your wrist swells. If that’s not enough, there are also three micro-adjustment holes in the clasp. It’s a good solution that I find very handy. Doc tells me that he’s working on having the links that come out of the clasp made a little larger to transition from the edges of the clasp neatly into the edges of the bracelet, something that isn’t implemented yet into this prototype. Honestly, I’m not convinced it’s necessary, but Doc knows best. Also worth knowing is that the clasp has formerly only been available in 20mm widths. Doc is getting it downsized to 18mm so that the bracelet can taper, leading to even greater comfort. The bracelet in beads of rice form, and the rubber strap both pay homage to ones used on IWC Super Compressor watches. Since I’ve named IWC a few times, let’s talk about Antilles.
Hello, Antilles!
The other NTH Tropics model is the Antilles. Antilles uses the same case, but changes things up by putting 12 hours on the internal rotating bezel, and instead of numerals for markers, uses batons similar to the IWC. In fact, I feel like the whole series is an answer to the question, “What if you took the IWC Super Compressor and updated it for today?” and the answer was Antilles. Azores is the Bulova dial with better hour markers, living in the IWC case.
Hello, 1967 IWC 812AD Aquatimer!
I love the Antilles. I was initially attracted to the Azores and wore it more during the review period, but if I were purchasing today, I’d be torn. The Azores Broad Arrow hands are perfectly executed, with subtle dimension to them that catches my eye. I never really have a practical use for the diving bezel, so as nice as the internal bezel is, it’s not useful to me, other than contributing to the overall look. The Antilles, on the other hand, is a very useful watch. Because the internal bezel is a 12 hour, I set it to other time zones I commonly work with, and can see at a glance whether or not it’s a reasonable idea to phone, and how to effectively plan my day. At WWR, we talk a lot about how watches are unnecessary, and how we want people to love them more, and yes, you could consult a phone or a computer to keep track of this sort of thing – but having it on the wrist without having to open an application, unlock a device, or swipe at anything is helpful. Having the information you need without delay makes a difference.
Where did the IWC come from? The first IWC Aquatimer wasn’t an IWC innovation – it was a response to a trend already in motion. In 1967, IWC noticed the growing popularity of amateur scuba diving and released their first divers’ watch. The first Aquatimer (Ref. 812AD) was water-resistant to 200 meters.

Antilles reeks of class just like it’s IWC progenitor, the original IWC Aquatimer. Back then, because it was a dress diver, compared to the more sport-oriented looks of Submariners. Back then, the internal bezel was marked for proper diving. Today, we’re more accustomed to desk divers, and the 12 hour bezel makes more sense. The original also came on a strap with a sort of parquet pattern to it, called the IWC Tropic band rubber strap. NTH provided similarly patterned silicone rubber straps that mimics the original perfectly. I can’t overstate it: The rubber strap is a nearly dead-on replica of the TROPIC. The IWC strap uses the parquet pattern on a single large keeper. Doc’s uses two plain-surfaced keepers.

It’s a reflection on how carefully Doc makes his design and inspiration choices that he can use the same case and come up with one watch that’s a homage to an era based out of a couple of different watches from different manufacturers, and make another that’s nearly faithful and looks completely different. Azores and Antilles share the same housing and Swiss STP automatic movement, but that’s it – Azores is pure minty green vintage cool, and the Antilles would fit perfectly on the wrist of Jon Hamm, wearing a tailored gray suit and thin tie. Who doesn’t aspire to be as cool as that?
Watch Overview
Brand & Model: NTH Azores and Antilles
Price: Earlybird pricing starts at $525 (regular pricing, $700)
Who we think it might be for: You’re a refined gentleman with a sense of vintage class. A dress diver that hearkens back to 1967 is just what your rugged good looks need.
Would I buy one for myself based on what I’ve seen?: I initially wanted an Azores for those hands, those hands! Now I’m all about Antilles and its IWC-homage excellence.
If I could make one design suggestion, it would be: I’m looking forward to the narrower buckle.
What spoke to me the most about this watch: handsome good looks, paired with the comfortable beads of rice bracelet and the adjustable clasp. This is another success for Doc, making a classic watch at a price that’s not out of bounds for owning one well-made watch.

The Lusina compressor – see how the hands weren’t only used by Omega?
And look at the dial on this Titan, and how similar it is to Azores?

Hands-on with the NTH Antilles and Azores – Take it to the limit one more time The NTH Tropics were inspired by the compressor-case diving watches which proliferated from the late '50's to mid '70's - marvels of engineering which established an iconic design language.
