more today in the hal and shuji household i'm thinking about how we'd go to a parent teacher conference for one of our kids, i'm the one paying attention to what the teacher is saying up until the teacher mentions our kid has a tendency to cause trouble and throw things/generally misbehave and suddenly shuji is grinning and ruffling their hair and I have to give him a soft but pointed look even though i'm secretly holding back a laugh. don't get me started on if the teacher critiques our kid in any way because then his smile is twitching and he has to be sort of persuaded not to vault over the table and suddenly cause injury to a school teacher. maybe he'll get an important work call at some point during the meeting in which he's talking about 'dealing with someone' and i have to awkwardly smile at the teacher as if he's not talking about killing people for a dangerous organisation lmao. and then we get ice creams and pizza on the way home
