I love this book to death, so here's some things I noticed <3

#umineko #umineko spoilers #ikuko hachijo #ikukos turn for a more serious piece... the old man has reigned for too long #now. INCREDIBLY LONG INCOHERENT TAGS RANT INCOMING FAIR WARNING HAS BEEN GIVEN:#it makes me so so sad how little discussion there is about specifically ikuko because imho she fits so neatly into a lot of the more #overarching Big Themes of the game in a way that i have not ever really seen people take notice of or point out in a meaningful way #like even just off of the top of my head. the significance of names and what it means to go by a name that's Not Yours (she has like 4+)#what it Means to be a witch how it represents a person's deepest insecurities and flaws & how its at its core a coping mechanism #the fact that it takes two to create a universe and trying to do it on your own anyways has the capacity to bring you intense misery #^ (how she's shown to be extremely dismissive of her own work and skill until a collaborator comes into her life and helps/encourages her)#and even the family/patriarchy/misogyny stuff that is so prevalent in the rest of the game comes back around to her. even her Only Friend #(young&stupid atp to be fair) remarks that shes Weird for being unmarried + the little she does say about her past invites the question of #to what extent her self-image stems from her family deeming her a freak outcast & effectively disowning her while celebrating her brothers #and i have lot in my mind about the witch thing specifically because i think her particular situation is very reflective of what umineko's #entire magic system and fantasy facet as a whole is meant to represent for an individual. from what little we see of (what is presumably)#her Real personality she is shown to be deeply self conscious in a way that is JARRINGLY diametrically opposed to both 1.) what we see in #featherine and 2.) what we see when she is acting as a Public Figure. because both of the above are very much purposeful acts that she is #putting on in order to obfuscate her true self. and i have always been very resolute & adamant about not totally equating her to featherine #not only because im very firmly in the camp of “featherine is the avatar of the Pen Name & tohya is part of her too” but also very much b/c #i feel very strongly that the stark differences between the two are very centrally relevant to her character & her psyche. as is the case #with most other witches featherine's personality traits serve to reveal/magnify a lot of ikukos inner workings by playing on her #insecurities/reversing them e.g. ikuko being very quick to downplay her skill/achievements becomes featherine being the COMPLETE opposite #to the point where she barely registers even other witches as living beings rather than just fun touys. BUT even though i do champion the #ikuko/featherine separation so hard i ALSO think it is purposefully relevant that at first glance the line between them seems so blurry #her introduction implying a more nebulous separation between her reality/fantasy counterpart is i think is an intentional move on her part #like it is part of the front she is putting up when acting as the Author. as opposed to Ikuko the person who we (in a way ironically very #similar to the way that the Real Battler is presumably only shown during the boatscene) only very briefly get to see take up screentime #which even on a meta level lines up very well with her apparent underlying nature as a like. extremely private largely reserved/shy person #hit tag limit but if by some miracle anyone is still reading this thank you... please see ikuko with the love she deserves... ok ily byeee

#i wanted to have fun with this one by drawing how i imagine my teams base to look postgame (too lazy to color it though)#dont stare at it too hard- i suck at perspective so i had to make a mockup in minecraft and draw over it TT_TT #i really wish they did more with the team base after graduation like.. some decorations at least. and i was always curious #whether the vines at the back of the room would reveal a new room and i was so disappointed when it didnt #im gonna ramble a bit abt what i drew here-#a small pool has been built around the spring so it holds more water.. it was inspired by the well in secret world of arrietty #+ a small garden to plant crops like berries. i think neptune would be the one to manage it to keep his hands busy #theres also a table with a copy of the map used for planning out travel routes besides the one carried in the bag #in my gameplay i like to stack missions if theyre in the same location for efficiency and i think they do that too #the bookshelf is their shared collection of comics and favorite books. and theres a bulletin board with mementos and #i think maybe some nice letters theyve received. you can also see grovyles wanted poster as a keepsake #theres a back room covered by vines which separates the bedroom and i didnt get to draw it but tbh theres not much there #just their beds and collection of treasures. maybe some stuffed toys and gifts?#there are string lights hung around the ceiling in the main room #my art #myart #pokemon mystery dungeon #pmd #heropartnerweek #heropartnerweek2025 #doodles #team satellite #oc #ocs

thinking about the effects of Kira being raised in a refugee camp and never (as far as we know) having a formal education never being addressed on the show properly. she's obviously not a scientist or an engineer but her position as first officer still means that she has to supervise all of the engineers and scientists on ds9 to some degree. and as much as the Starfleet characters are uncomfortable with roughing it and the terrorist tactics Kira still needs to use every once in awhile, i think it's a really underrated idea for Kira to be just as uncomfortable with a lot of the high-concept science thrown around between the Starfleet people. she knows all of the practical stuff she needs to – how to repair essential technology, how to fly ships, how to use weaponry – but i could imagine her being really insecure about not fully understanding the underlying concepts the way everyone in Starfleet does.

anyways, i think Jadzia would pick up on Kira's insecurity eventually and would start giving her secret math lessons to get her up to speed so she can join in on all the Science Talk.

#just imagining jadzia & kira having alternating date nights where jadzia tries to convince kira to have fun in the holodeck (always fails)#and then they go learn calculus together (kira definitely likes this more though the lack of immediate practicality is still frustrating)#kira nerys #ds9 #my posts #also thinking about the worldbuilding implications at large of the bajorans generally lacking a formal education and thus unable to rank up #and despite how education is often used to discriminate (against those without resources or with disabilities)#starfleet still very much seems to subscribe to formal education above all else even if someone might have the practical skills #(see b'elanna dropping out of the academy because of discrimination and her professors never meeting her needs)#anyways. many thoughts tonight.

A while ago there was going around an art challenge where you draw your favourite Fire Emblem character of each letter of the alphabet. Figured I'd give it a shot, let's see if I can finish this. Here's ABC.

#fire emblem #fire emblem fates #fire emblem: three houses #Fire Emblem Awakening #FE Arthur #Alois Rangeld #FE Brady #Claude von Riegan #FE Charlotte #Alois is overall a super lovable character #but on top of that I also really appreciate the fact that he is a platonic S support option #9 times out of 10 video game romances involving the player character don't really do anything for me #but usually I still end up romancing someone anyway because mid content is better than than no content #so thank you IS for giving me the bromance option I always wanted #when I first saw Arthur I expected him to be one of those joke characters that get really obnoxious really quick.#Instead he turned out to be such a genuinely good dude and a cinnamon roll that he was impossible not to like #what really pushed him to the fave territory though #was the way every once in a while you could see cracks in his cheery exterior #revealing the unexpected melancholia underneath #being the unluckiest person on earth is getting to him despite his best efforts to not let it #or at least that was what i saw in him. you know how it is with blorbos #you never know how much of what you see is really there and how much you just made up. it's all part of the fun #On my first playthough I paired him with azura because their supports were cute #what I didn't see coming was the way azura disappears without a trace in the ending #and none of the in-game characters ever find out what happened to her #and so I couldn't help wondering #would arthur blame his own bad luck for azura's disappearance?#Would he spend the rest of his life terrified of something similar happening to percy and shigure too?#Would he become overprotective or would he isolate himself in an attempt to protect his loved ones from his bad luck?

waking up to sleepy gale kisses is a lovely way to start the day

a sketchy study of In Bed, The Kiss by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. I like drawing intimacy, and he does intimacy very well! and a close-up:

The reference painting does a lot of interesting stuff with color and texture, but one of the challenges I set for myself was to let this remain a sketch. I struggle not to automatically reach for paint, but I have found that sketches I like are often smothered that way! It's so easy to over-render and lose the vitality of the original drawing.
