·.⌇ 𝐒𝐘𝐍𝐎𝐏𝐒𝐈𝐒. you’ve been one of sukuna’s many concubines for quite a while now. yet, you still cannot get rid of the jealousy in your system whenever he interacts with the other women in his harem.
wc. idk around 1 to 2k
tags. true form!sukuna x concubine!female reader. angst (hurt to comfort), fluff, suggestive at the end. heian era. you call sukuna ‘my lord’. reader gets called ‘brat, little girl’. size difference. no part2, don’t ask i beg. not beta read.
“get back here, brat,” sukuna raises his voice as he follows you. he isn’t one to care about others’ emotional outbursts, yet here he is, chasing you after you’ve poured out your heart to him.
you don’t know why you’re this upset. you do know, however, that it’s childish of you to walk away mid dinner. you should’ve just stayed seated and refuse to let the thoughts consume you.
now you’re speed walking down the hallways of the estate—your legs carrying you as fast as they can without actually making a run for it. your mind keeps replaying the ‘unsettling’ scene that caused you to flee.
you remember it vividly. the sound of sukuna’s low, amused chuckle. how intrigued it was because of something another concubine told him—how he stopped chewing to say something back to her. which he rarely does.
hell, you’ve never seen him laugh around his other concubines.
“i do not wish to talk to you right now, my lord,” you reply, voice raised so the distance wouldn’t make it a hassle for the king of curses to hear you. you know that feisty attitude of yours entertains sukuna to no end.
he raises an eyebrow once he’s heard your voice; how it’s dripping with envy and hurt. you’ve never reacted like that before—at least not in his presence. it made him want to figure out why and how.
though, he can easily guess the reasoning behind your sudden defiance.
“oh, that so?” sukuna hums. he’s lenient with you this time around. he could catch up to you in under a split second, but he decides to give you that sense of accomplishment first before completely destroying it. he walks after you slowly, your fast steps being the same tempo as his slow pace.
you don’t answer. you’re stubborn. you have no right to feel jealous. you are a fairly new concubine—only a couple months ago did you join sukuna’s harem. yet, the time spent with him was precious.
he treats you differently. everyone notices that. everyone tells you the same. you know he does by the way he lets you off the hook with most stuff you say and do.
you don’t know what you did to gain his favouritsm, but it’s addicting. his attention is addictive. real addictive.
you had sworn not to develop any unneccessary feelings for that ruthless sorcerer. but, with the way sukuna treated you so gently behind closed doors, it was impossible not to.
you eventually reach the doors to your chambers. you slide them open and wish to close them behind you, only for a big hand to halt those movements. you freeze in place and refuse to look up at the owner of that said hand.
“look up,” sukuna demands. his voice causes goosebumps to appear on your arms, but you still don't budge. he clicks his tongue. that’s your first warning. two more and your punishment will be carried out, “we can do this the hard way too if you want.”
you turn your head, your fingers curling around the material of your kimono. you really should not feel this way about a little interaction between sukuna and his other concubine. that is none of your concern. what he does with those other women is none of your concern.
and yet. . .
“i don't want to,” you retort. sukuna walks into your room with a sigh. each step he takes forwards, you take backwards. your back finally bumps against the wall next to your bed.
sukuna towers over you, his tall and big frame making you feel vulnerable. especially with the way those red eyes of his are staring down at you. he crosses all four of his arms before speaking.
“tell me what’s running through that head of yours,” sukuna inquires sternly. he isn’t playing around anymore, you can tell. you glance the other way—knowing that he will laugh at you the moment you tell him why you’re upset.
you have a feeling he knows the reason behind your tantrum anyway.
“it’s nothing of importance, my lord,” you shake your head and relax your tense shoulders to make you seem less upset. your words have some truth in them—you don’t think your feelings of envy hold any value to him.
sukuna sighs again. he’s trying his best not to be annoyed at you. you’re his favorite and he wishes not to sadden you any further. he steps forwards, one hand moving to cup the side of your face.
his rough fingers play with a string of your hair, “i’m not stupid, little girl. i don’t like it when my woman is in distress.”
your heart skips a beat. this is what confuses you—how he can go from stern to gentle and vice versa. it’s surprisingly unexpected, which makes you long for more. even if his behaviour is confusing.
you look up at sukuna. your eyes meet for the first time in a good couple minutes. the corner of sukuna’s lips curls up into a satisfied smirk. that’s one step closer to getting you to open up.
“now,” the king of curses lowers his head to your eye level, the proximity all the more nerve wracking. he holds your jaw super tightly out of the blue. it makes you whimper.
“spit it out.”
there it is. the duality of the man strikes once more. you swallow the spit that’s been building up in your mouth. you bite your bottom lip lightly, trying to gather and form the right words to explain yourself.
sukuna wouldn’t understand. he’s a cold-hearted man who doesn’t care about such ‘trivial’ matters. he’ll just call you stupid, pathetic or whatever other derogatory term.
you stop your thoughts for a moment.
“it’s really just a stupid thing,” you mutter. your fingers curl around sukuna’s wrist—the one hand he’s using to firmly hold your jaw. you take a deep breath in, “i did not like it when you, errr. . . when that woman talked to you at the dinner table.”
your voice is clearly dripping with jealousy. pure, pure jealousy. and for what? because he talked to his other concubine. you feel stupid. you thought you discarded your personal feelings for the sorcerer before you the moment you turned into one of his many women.
“that woman?” sukuna tilts his head, feigning ignorance. that little grin on his face tells you enough. he’s playing with you like some form of entertainment. well, technically you are.
he wants you to be specific. he’s forcing you to be by acting like he doesn’t know what you’re talking about.
in all honesty, sukuna’s already forgotten what that woman had said to him. it wasn’t and still isn’t worth remembering. all he can recall is your adorable facial expression when you saw him interact like that with his other concubine.
that little frown on your face was priceless. it makes him want to keep teasing you.
“you know who i am talking about, my lord,” you huff, trying to look away, but get stopped by sukuna readjusting his grip on your jaw. he firmly yet gently taps your cheek once and you know what it means.
“attitude,” sukuna warns with a quick hiss. he can let you say whatever you want to him, but you also have some limits regarding which tone you use with him. you apologise quietly under your breath.
the king of curses nods in satisfaction before releasing the grip on your jaw. his large hand trails down to your neck, thumb rubbing up and down your throat, “so, my little girl is mad at me because i talked to another concubine of mine, huh?”
you nod mindlessly. sukuna can easily get you to comply with him—to obey his every word, simply with his actions. the terms of endearment he uses are the cherry on top. they slip off his tongue so easily with you.
“tsk tsk,” sukuna shakes his head. his hand is now on the back of your head, fingers tangled into your hair. he’s staring down at you with a smug expression. he knows he’s got you wrapped around his finger, “how childish of you.”
you knew that would be one of the things he’d say to you. what you didn’t expect is for him to go for a kiss right after. his lips land on yours firmly, and to no surprise, you instantly return the gesture.
your arms wrap around his neck—your chest pressing against his. sukuna wastes no time in picking you up and letting your legs encircle his waist. he’s not pulling away for air to breathe and you don’t either.
“you’re going to listen to me, yeah?” sukuna murmurs between passionate kisses. he’s holding onto you tightly with two arms, his free hands roaming over your body whilst he pins you against the wall.
when you whimper out a weak, high-pitched ‘yes, my lord’, he smirks against your mouth before turning to kiss your neck. he slightly bites the skin to make sure you’re paying attention to him.
“i don’t remember what that woman said,” sukuna continues, nearly out of breath because of the kisses he’s leaving all over you. he easily grabs both your wrists and pins them above your head on the wall, “i was too busy lookin’ at a much prettier concubine of mine.”
he pulls back a little so he can look you in the eyes. you’re panting and embarrassed by what he just said. one of his hands finds your face again, tracing the shape of your mouth.
“my favourite,” sukuna whispers whilst licking his lips. you can see it in his eyes: he’s silently planning out how he’s going to remind you of your place. your place as his favorite concubine.
he dips his head back down, aiming for the valley between your breasts. he closes his eyes before sucking on the surrounding flesh;
“guess i’ll be nice for once ‘nd show you just what it means to be my favorite so that you’ll never dare forget it again.”

Give Life Another Chance
Summary: He had always had your back when he was Robin. He'll always have your back even as an Outlaw
Word: 3.9k
A/N: Finally did Jason's version of childhood friend to lover trope! *Also part of Winter Series: Day 5

Soft, black curls and a smile that could win the hearts of millions- there were so many good points you probably should’ve noticed first. But having been kicked out of the orphanage again and preoccupied to find a safe place to sleep on the streets for the night, your mind was slow to process that you were just saved from being jumped by Robin. So, your brain chose to point something else out as it registered. Like how haughty he was being with both hands on his hips and an eyebrow raised as he had asked why a kid like you was out in the street this late.
“You’re short.”
“…Seriously? Instead of a thanks you tell me I’m short?”
You were going to ask him if he had any plans on denying what you had just said when one of the thugs on the ground let out a groan.
“Let’s go!”
Quickly, boy wonder wrapped an arm around your waist before using the Batarang to pull the two of you up one of the near-by buildings. Surprisingly, you never once let go of him nor scream as he swung from one building to the next. Was it from trust? Survival instincts? You don’t know. The next few minutes blurred as two teens continued to swing from building to building until he finally landed in front of a 24/7 burger place.
“Wha-where-“
Where did he get the cap he plopped on your head from? When did he change into the hoodie and sweatpants? Your head was spinning from so many unanswered questions that he was practically dragging you into the restaurant with a firm yet gentle grip around your hand. Shuffling you into a booth, he sat across from you and ordered two sets of the same burger meal.
You both sat there quietly until the food came out.
“Aren’t you going to eat?” Robin asked, noticing you hadn’t touched your food yet.
You blankly blinked at him then at the food in front of you. Slowly, you reached for the burger and took a bite. Then another. You take the napkin he offered across the table to wipe your mouth and cheeks from both the food stains and tears while eating.
By the time you finished, you both were slurping on your soft drinks, stuffed and satisfied.
“Well?” He asked, his eyes behind the domino mask trained on you.
“… Why?” He must’ve expected you to ask him from the shrug he gave.
“You looked like you needed it.”
You looked like you needed it?
“You were planning to sleep out tonight weren’t you? How were you going to do that on an empty stomach?”
“I…” You paused for a moment, fiddling with your thumbs. “I’m used to it.”
He didn’t cue you or pressed for answers. It was all on you, spilling everything you’ve gone through from how your parents had abandoned you at age four from being chased by loan sharks to how you were continually being kicked out of each orphanage you enter for accidentally catching the employees embezzling funds meant to maintain the place.
The one question he did ask was about school. He didn’t pursue further when you told him everyone knew your clothes were from hand-me-downs and the Salvation Army.
You appreciated how he didn’t offer words of faux sympathy, simply muttering with an “I see”. You were curious what expression he was making though as he had his head turned toward the window and the hoodie pulled over his head blocked your view.
Once the glasses were emptied, you both headed out.
“Do you have any friends at your school?”
You weren’t taken off guard anymore, finding yourself adapted to your current situation.
“No.”
“Then head to this place. It’s nicer compared to all the others you were placed in.”
Unexpectedly, an address for somewhere in the nicer neighborhood of Gotham was neatly written on the napkin.
“Yeah, and how am I supposed to get there? Have them let me in? It’s not like I have a social worker or anyone who’ll fill the paperwork for me.”
“It’ll be fine. Just take the bus and walk there. Once you get there, just give them your name and then, they’ll let you in.”
It was suspicious to say the least. At the same time, you didn’t have anything to lose.
“Then you have to promise to come visit me tomorrow.” Childishly, you stuck your pinky out at him. “ ‘Cause if you don’t, it’ll be your fault I’m dead.”
“You aren’t going to die,” he snorted, yet wrapped his pinky around yours. “If anything, it’ll be a step forward to make life a bit better.”
He was right. Life did get better when you arrived at the written address. With no hesitation despite the time of your arrival being past 1:00 AM, a kind woman welcomed you in and helped get you situated. For a week, you were busy getting used to the new environment where everything and everyone was… well, normal. None of the other kids looked as if they were struggling or waging war for survival. The adults were attentive and fostered healthy maturity.
It helped that Robin had decided to visit you every night rather than just the next day. Along with checking in that you were okay, he listened to everything you had in your mind. The struggles, the challenges, the confusion from how none of your past experiences could’ve prepared for this big of a change. In a good way of course.
Too bad the visits became less frequent once you started going to your new school. He mentioned about getting in trouble for not focusing on his patrols the last time. Your disappointment must’ve been evident when he proposed to do the “pen-pal thing”. Using how you mentioned you’d do anything to thank him on the promised night as an excuse, he apparently had been wanting to do it but didn’t have anyone until you.
That’s how you ended up leaving your window open ajar every night, having slipped a letter between the slim gap between the sill and the window itself and getting one back the same way, same place.
School on the other hand was eventful. Your only friend was Jason Todd, who, you had to admit, put in a lot of work to get close to you. To be fair, you didn’t expect someone to approach you all friendly on your first day. There were some hiccups along the way, however you guys managed to get through them and became buddies.
There wasn’t a day you guys weren’t hanging together. Homework was being done at the library, talking about the books you both recently read during lunch. The time you both didn’t talk to each other was during class. Unlike you who sometimes found the drawl on Homo sapiens boring, Jason was soaking in all the knowledge with enthusiasm. You once called him school-freak from how much he loved to learn, being in school and exploring the topics the teachers were going over. He retorted that you were mad you couldn’t beat him in getting a higher grade during the last exam. You simply snatched his book and ran away with it, not appreciating how he was right.
With Robin during the night and Jason during the day, you were brighter and friendlier. Slowly, yet surely, you were found smiling more and approachable. Your schoolmates and teachers warmed up to you, treating you like one of them. You also had a place you could call home temporarily, where you could relax and enjoy the presence of having somewhat of a family.
The serenity and joy you had ended up lasting for two years. Jason suddenly stopped coming to school. Robin hadn’t visited you for a while nor sent you a letter. With Robin, you assumed it was because he was busy fighting criminals alongside Batman. Jason? You got worried about him. You tried to get in touch with him in every possible way you can. You asked the teachers, who were also worried as they didn’t know why he hadn’t been attending. You used the school’s directory book they hand out every year and sent letters to his residence.
It was when you got the courage and called his home phone you were given the news. It went from shock. Denial. And then devastation. You felt completely ruined. Your eyes were glass and devoid of emotions when you had gone to his grave, dressed in black, holding a bouquet of red roses (he once said in passing that they were his favorite).
Your one friend you made for the first time in life- you refused to believe he was dead. The news reported it was from an incident related to the Joker, making things much harder from the sheer weight of reality. Especially knowing the survival rate of the victims when the notorious villain was involved.
You managed to maintain sanity superficially, convincing everyone that you were over it. That you were fine. Never realizing the reason for you to hold on was from the belief that Robin would soon visit you again when he had time or at least take the letters that were growing longer where you switched size of the envelopes multiple times.
Things became complicated when Batman, who hadn’t been seen with Robin for so long, made an appearance with him again. Problem was, the Robin next to the older man wasn’t your Robin. Instead of soft curls, his hair was silky and straight. The costume was different. The way the new Robin smiled wasn’t the same as the other Robin. Your Robin.
During the time Robin wasn’t present, you had thought he was severely injured. Hence your expression of concern was always written in your letters, even in the midst of your grief. But what if. Just what if-
You wanted it to be not true so much as you matched dates to events. The day of Jason’s death to around when Robin stopped sending you letters. The day Jason was seen with a cast to the day Robin wasn’t present on a mission. It was a cruel, awful joke played by the fates. Your Robin was Jason Todd. And the people- no, person- you loved with every fiber in your heart was dead.
Jason, on the other hand, was never really into people back when he was a kid. Helping those in need and bringing justice so those suffering would finally have peace? Of course. He would always do it. Interest in a specific person though? He didn’t until he found you walking out and about in the middle of Park Row. Initially, out of empathy from knowing what it was like living in that awful area of Gotham, he was planning to follow you in the case you decided to get your hand dirty and mess with the wrong nest. He was proven wrong and soon changed his assessment of you to respect when he watched you give candy from your bag into the hands of the little kids hiding in the alley. You weren't being dumb about it either, posing it as if you were threatening contrary to what had actually happened. The longer he followed you, the more he saw how knowledgeable you were, knowing when to pick fights and when to keep your head low to stay out of trouble as you walked through the different alleys.
It made him more curious about you, from how you managed to save an adult man from a beating by tripping the assailant with the cover of his sidekick being the one to kick a nearby can. When he read the information he was able to find about you, he felt bitter. It was one thing to live with a dead-beat dad and a drugged out mom, but it was a whole different situation when having to live out in the street without a roof to cover your head most of the time, trying to get by on your own with no adults.
He tried to think of something, anything to help you that night, after closing out the files that had been on the monitor in the Batcave. He started out with following you around during patrols and beating up anyone who seemed suspicious or approaching you with ill-intent behind your back. In his spare time, he was figuring out ways to get in a better child-care system considering you were still a minor, just like him. After hearing about his old man sponsoring to open an orphanage in central Gotham, he mustered the courage to put in a favor.
His plan was all set and ready to go once Bruce got involved, all that was left was to get you on board. Lady Luck must’ve been smiling at him when the perfect opportunity arose when he caught sight of some thugs hiding in the alley you were about to pass. That definitely got your attention when the thug that was close to grabbing you by the scruff went down with a thud.
He never understood that awful and tragic feeling of seeing someone empty until he saw your eyes. Blank and filled with nothing, not even a spark of resentment or rage. He swallowed the lump in his throat, heart burning from the evidence of how the corruption of Gotham claimed another young victim.
“So, what’s a kid like you roaming the streets at this time?”
He didn’t mean to sound cocky. He was trying to sound normal, mustering the tiny drop of remaining strength in him to not waver when you looked so broken. Doesn’t mean he was impressed with your jab though. He had been told by Alfred that he was taller than Dick when he was the same age as him for your information.
As he proceeded to help you get another chance with life, it wasn't part of his plan to become besties, even more so develop feelings for you. Sure, when he approached you as Jason Todd, things didn’t go well at first considering he knew you but you didn’t know him. His civilian self, to be exact. But as he got to know you as both Jason and Robin, he came to know the other side of you. The one with a heart that could encompass the whole world, a mind that had the potential to excel in anything you put your mind into. He constantly worried over the chances of you getting hurt, despite the rough exterior, from being so fragile.
Your letters reflected this as there were times your vulnerability appeared in writing on your thoughts of others. Yes there was hatred and annoyance but always in the last paragraph, you express your desire to understand rather than to exact revenge. You wanted to give them a chance and connect, not resent.
The day he was captured was the day he wanted to confess to you. Reveal who he was and see if he could have a chance to be in your heart. So when he had come back to the living, he didn’t seek you out. He was scared to find out you had moved on without him. That he was simply left as a fragment of a memory like everyone else.
You would’ve laughed at the expression he made if you had seen him when he saw you at his grave. He was camping, hoping that Bruce would appear and prove him wrong. To show that he was still loved and in his heart as his son. All he could do was hide his presence behind the giant oak tree, slightly tilting his head out to watch what you were doing.
He watched your form from behind as you sat down in front of his grave before shuffling and pulling out folded pieces of paper. With his hiding spot not being that far off, he could hear you talking. And he wished he didn’t. A giant block of ice settled to the bottom of his stomach, listening to you read your letters you apparently continued to write to him. Your voice didn’t waver, casual and light as if you were truly talking to him like in the past.
When you got to what seemed like the end, your voice cracked. Then a sniffle. For a moment, he forgot the anger and hatred he harbored, his knuckles going white from suppressing himself to reaching out and comforting you. It ripped him into pieces from the sorrow and wretch you were emitting, sobbing and whimpering why he couldn’t have told you sooner. Why he left without letting you say your final farewells. How you wanted him back.
You get interrupted and quickly forced to wipe your tears when your phone rung.
“This is Officer-“
He stopped breathing. Out of all things, you became a police officer. The hope to meet and rekindle with you was completely crushed, his status not at all glamorous or society acceptable at the moment. When he heard ruffling, he came back to reality. He could feel his eyes well-up as he watched you place a familiar bouquet of flowers on his grave before getting up and leaving.
Once you were gone, he walked over and picked the bouquet up delicately. For the first time since his revival, he was grieving for someone other than him, someone he still loves. Ironically, he wished that you were the one to have forgotten about him. Not being haunted and distraught as if you were watching him die over and over.
Maybe it was then he developed the motivation to change, to leave and let go of emotions he had been holding up to then. Eventually, he had gone from working to dominate the underground businesses to getting rid of them. And whenever he had spare time, he’d have your back and make sure no one was going after you. It wasn’t just criminals he would take down who were planning to attack you and your group when on the field, he had also aimed at any corrupted officers that were going to use you as their scape-goat.
Sure he had gone on adventures as he progressively turned over a new leaf, yet you were and still always his priority. Back when he was Robin and now, as Red Hood the outlaw. As time passed, he could see you healing. Your smiles more genuine. A glow in your skin. Your visits to him every week being more peaceful.
He didn’t think nor entertain the idea of ever meeting you again. How could he when it’ll break you to find out he’s been alive, again, for so long?
So imagine his surprise when he arrives at the manor for the traditional Wayne Christmas party, finding you standing under the ridiculously large tree in the equally ridiculously large living room.
The disgruntled expression gets replaced with shock for Jason as yours morphs into disbelief.
“Ja..son…?”
Six feet, a body packed with muscles and scars, not to mention the infamous brown, leather jacket. Dick really wasn’t kidding during the time you helped hide him and the other vigilantes during the anti-hero hunt led by Amanda Waller when he had revealed that Jason Todd was actually alive after hearing from you how you knew the other, both as the former Robin and civilian. It makes you sick in the stomach of how much the person you loved once known as Mr. Sunshine went through for all the pure, unadulterated positivity and radiant optimism to be stripped away from him, leaving only hardship, fatigue, and harshness when hearing what he had gone through before and after his death. He didn’t deserve such cruelty, not when he was trying to pull the weight of the effort society refused to put in to make life better when he was a tiny teen.
What you do next is risky. It may cause you to lose everything the two of you once had even. But how could you have him stand in front of the double-oak doors alone with eyes exposing his vulnerable and fragile heart.
The questions he wants to ask, the actions he wants to take, they all are swallowed down when he’s pulled into a hug. It’s then he notices how much smaller you are compared to him. Your arms that once used to completely wrap around his shoulders can barely wrap around his torso. Your frame, frail as you tremble and leave tears on his thin, cotton shirt.
He doesn’t need Dick’s motions or Tim’s mouthing to know what to do. Careful to crush you, he leans into you.
“I’m sorry, I should’ve told you I was back.”
It’s the greatest Christmas gift life has ever given the two of you when you awkwardly nod in response to his words, no intentions of letting him go from fear he’d disappear on you again. And the sentiment is shared when he squeezes you closer to himself, a smile that was lost for a while reappearing and making those around feel the joy of the holiday miracle.

only angel - ʟɴ⁴
the one where she hits it off one of his driver friends, and meets a new version of lando in the very same night.
part one | part two | part three | part four | part six | part seven | part eight | part nine | part ten
contains; fluff, dom!lando, nsfw, smut; manhandling, oral (m & f), slit-fucking?, fingering, orgasm denial, kinda voyeurism?, squirting, crying, degradation kink, praise kink; talks of loss of virginity, swearing.
…

…
‘glamour on the grid’, they called it.
“it’ll be fun!” keegan exclaimed, shrugging his shoulders. “come on, lando.”
the four were sat in a sports bar somewhere in austin — the group being lando, lily, keegan, and max. lando wasn’t quite sure why they’d gone to a bar, when only two of the four would be drinking — max and keegan — but he’d agreed nonetheless after lily said she wouldn’t drink if he couldn’t.
“and it’d be good for PR,” max added, tilting his head and raising his eyebrows. “come on, bob.”
“yeah, do it for the team!” the younger boy nodded enthusiastically.
lando sighed and flitted his gaze over to the girl beside him, “you’re going, right?”
“i mean, i have an invite.” she shrugged. “but i don’t have anyone to go with, it’s a pairs kind of thing.”
“go with me?” he asked softly, “i don’t wanna be on my own.”
keegan went to speak, probably to say something like ‘you’ll have us!’, but max kicked him under the table as to say — ‘shut up, they’re having a moment.’
“yeah, of course.” she smiled softly, the subtlest of blushes spreading across her cheeks when he kissed her forehead briefly — going unnoticed by all but max.
“so, that’s settled, and you need a suit, mate.” max nodded. “do you need a dress, lala?”
lala.
that stupid nickname max had for her — only the quadrant crew called her that. it was her initials, ria had written them down wrong one day, (they were three letters how did she even get that wrong?) and thus ‘lala’ was born.
“yeah, i do, i’ll just ask dior or something,” she shrugged, almost laughing at the nickname. “do you want me to get you a suit too, lan?”
“yes please, you know my sizes and stuff — i’ll just match you.”
max was sat there, watching the two talk, and something was different. the way lando’s gaze lingered a little more than it usually would, how his voice was soft and low, the look in his eyes that made her seem like she’d hung the stars in the sky.
and even keegan noticed it too. the way lily would blush a little deeper than usual for her, the way she was either constantly touching or looking at him in some way, and her inability to have anything but a smile on her face gave her away completely.
maybe they were dating? no, surely they’d have told them by now.
maybe they were…? the boys basically had no idea what was going on there, but they were going to find out.
-
lily wasn’t impressed, whatsoever.
it wasn’t the fact that he wasn’t with her, it was the fact he was with her, of all girls, of the girl he was having sex with for gods sake!
lando and callie had been chatting all night, and it was pissing lily off — she was very aware of her jealousy and she couldn’t give a fuck.
she was this beautiful blonde girl, tanned with the prettiest eyes lily had ever seen, and the most contagious laugh ever recorded — shit, lily would have taken her out herself if she wasn’t madly in love with the boy she currently had her hand on the arm of.
“you look fucked off,” max pointed out as the two laughed about something.
“i’m not,” she snapped, before sighing and realising that maybe max would be able to see through her lie. “okay, maybe i am, but that’s none of your business.”
“just go and flirt with someone else,” he shrugged nonchalantly. “lando’ll hate that, he almost— actually, that’s a story for another day. just go and find someone else to piss him off with.”
“i don’t want to piss him off though.” she sighed.
“oh, so there is something going on with you and bob then?” max caught her, smiling widely.
she had given herself away.
lily could have made up a lie about why she was annoyed — her time of the month, her dress was itchy, it was too hot — but no, she just let the truth fall from her lips.
in all honesty, everything was perfect, but she wanted her boyfriend— no, best friend to be by her side like he usually was.
“just don’t say anything, okay?” lily huffed, pinching the bridge of her nose. “i’ve only told lex and i don’t know who he’s told, carlos maybe.”
“i won’t, secret is safe with me, as long as this ends in a relationship.” max teased.
she rolled her eyes, before picking up her lemonade and heading off to find her new man for the evening.
-
“no way, i worked with them not too long ago,” he said, crossing his leg over the other as they sat in the quiet corner.
“yeah, i asked them to send me this for tonight last minute,” lily smiled, gesturing to the white sparkly dress clinging to her body. “and well, if this is last minute i really need to up my standards.”
he laughed in response, the adorable gap between his front teeth showing — and no, it wasn’t lando.
lily ainsley was sat with, and had been for the past hour, sir lewis hamilton… talking about fashion of all things.
“we should set up a collab or something,” lewis added, lily nodding as he reached for his drink.
unfortunately, lewis’ hand brushed hard enough against lily’s full glass to send it flying off of the table, somehow not breaking it, but getting lemonade all over the floor and a bit on the bottom of her dress.
“oh my god,” he gasped, clapping his hand to his mouth. “i am so sorry, lily, is it on your dress?”
“only a little bit, don’t worry.” she shook her head with smile, “it’s warm out, it’ll dry.”
she couldn’t help but laugh as lewis’ panicked eyes stared at her nonchalance about the situation — lando had spilled many of drinks quite literally down her top when he was drunk on nights out — so this was pretty minor.
“let me buy you another drink, please?” lewis said, clasping his hands together as he chewed on his lower lip.
“okay, yeah.” she shrugged, a free beverage of any kind was something lily never turned down.
they reached the edge of the busy bar together, and lewis saw the slightly anxious look in her eye, so he simply held his arm out for her to link through.
she mouthed a kind, ‘thankyou’ to him, before they made their way through the swarm of bodies together.
“dude, where’s lily?” keegan asked lando, tapping his arm, while he held up a piece of fabric that had come off of his designer jacket. “i wanna ask her where the fuck this goes.”
“i’m pretty sure that’s your pocket…” lando furrowed his eyebrows. “she’s around here somewhere.”
“what, she’s not with you?” keegan asked, looking at him confused — those two were usually a package deal.
“no—”
“oh there she is!” the australian exclaimed. “oh, fuck nah, she’s with lewis… i’ll go over later.”
“she’s with lewis?” lando’s head snapped up, searching for lily’s familiar face in the foreign crowd. “as in— what the fuck?”
there she was, in all of her angelic glory, laughing softly with one of his childhood heroes — well that was a sight he thought he’d never see.
lewis’ hand was loosely around her waist, mostly to stop her being swept away by the bustling atmosphere of the crowd.
to lando, it was a declaration of war.
-
the uber home was filled with a tense silence, the lingering scent of annoyance and jealousy tainting the air. neither of them spoke, either too stubborn or too pissed off with the night’s antics to talk.
her phone lit up, max fewtrell.
max fewtrell: let me know how it goes with sunshine. he was real pissed earlier. worse than when i broke his gaming chair. good luck!
“lewis?” lando spoke up roughly.
“what?” she looked up from her phone after she’d unlocked it.
“too busy talking to him to listen to what i’m saying, wow.” he huffed, god was this boy dramatic.
“sorry, i thought you were too busy with callie to acknowledge my existence.” she shot back, rolling her eyes as she replied to max.
‘he’s in such a piss. i should have just left it be. i hate your ideas, fuck you!’
“oh please, you were all over lewis! he’s double your fucking age, lily!” lando snapped, raising his voice at her — something he never did.
“well maybe that’s because you were too busy being a slut to acknowledge my existence!” she shot back.
he laughed, he fucking laughed.
the rest of the ride was silent, it wasn’t even tense — something was looming, lando was planning something, she could tell.
the uber was paid and tipped gratefully, and the two took the elevator back to their hotel room. his hands weren’t on her, which worried her a little — either she had upset him, or he was saving it for once they were behind closed doors (she hoped it was the latter of the two.)
the door closed behind them, and it was like a switch flipped inside of the brit.
“a slut, huh?” lando chuckled lowly, grabbing lily and throwing her over his shoulder roughly.
“lando— put me down, lando!” she hit his back, with no real force — but she didn’t want to seem desperate.
“shut up.” he grumbled, putting her down on the floor so she was stood up.
“thank—”
his hands were on her hips, spinning her away from him. lando’s large hands managed to undo the zip on the back of the dress with ease, before he pulled it down and pushed the item off of her body.
he smirked to himself as she let him, not protesting as he spun her back around to face him.
“on your knees,” he nodded, unbuttoning his shirt.
she looked up at him, dazed and very turned on by this new version of lando she was met with.
“are you deaf?” he snapped “i said on your knees.”
lily got her knees gently, the cold tiles of the floor making the position a little uncomfortable.
he nodded, tongue pressing against the inside of his cheek — she knew what he meant, wordlessly telling her to get to work.
his belt was undone by her slender fingers, and to her surprise, he wasn’t fully hard, meaning she was actually going to have to—
no, the first brush of lily’s fingers on his shaft sent it upward, slapping up against his abdomen. the thought of teasing him swirled around her mind briefly, but the look in lando’s eye told her to think otherwise.
a warm splatter of saliva dripped onto the tip of his cock, lubing the tip as she then took it in her mouth. her lips expertly wrapped around him, taking him deep down her throat straight away, swirling her tongue around every part she could reach. he groaned, clenching his jaw as he began to thrust slowly into her mouth.
she bobbed her head to meet his thrusts, tears welling in her eyes as he crammed his cock into her mouth.
“so much more polite with my dick in your mouth, aren’t you, angel?” he said, almost sweetly.
she made a muffled sound around him, not daring to pull off until his seed was deep in her throat.
her jaw was starting to lock, and the tears spilled down her face.
lily could feel him twitching inside of her mouth, and she was about to speed her movements up, when he pulled his cock out of her mouth.
loosely wrapping a hand around her throat, he pulled her gently, getting her to stand up, before pushing her onto the bed.
“ass up,” he commanded, helping her a little as she buried her face in the pillow.
he gazed down at her white underwear, clearly soaked and most likely ruined. one clean swipe rendered them (and her) useless, her panties tossed across the room with any dignity she had left.
“don’t even deserve to be fucked,” he muttered, taking his cock and pushing it though her folds, notching at her entrance.
he positioned his cock so it sat snugly in her puffy folds, bumping up against her clit every time he pushed forward.
“you think lewis could make you feel like this, baby?” he spoke cockily as she shuddered, thighs clenching as he pushed down her slit agonisingly slowly — holding back his own moan.
“n-no,” she choked out, moaning as her lower tummy fizzed with need.
“then why were you with him?” he pried, knowing the real reason — he’d spoken to max.
“tryna’ make—” she moaned softly as he brought his thumb forward to toy at her needy entrance. “get your attention, didn’t like seeing you with her.”
“so you were whoring yourself out with my rival?” he questioned lowly. “you could have just told me you were a pathetic mess for me, you know?”
her body was so hungry for him, pushing back against his slow thrusts into her slit — that the tears from earlier in their escapades resurfaced, streaming down her face.
he knew she was crying, but until there was an apology for calling him a slut, there wouldn’t be any letting up on her.
lando continued to thrust forward, her whimpers quiet and low. so, in aid of not being able to hear her, he slipped two fingers inside of her weeping entrance — pumping them hard and deep with no warning.
her slick was dripping onto his dick, coating it in a warmth as it slid back and forth though her folds. the previous stimulation of being buried deep inside of her throat helped him get close quickly, and he could tell she was close by the way her hips jerked when he scissored his fingers apart.
but he was closer than she was, and a sick though passed through his head and into his movements.
the brit pulled his fingers from her, grabbing his cock and pumping it on top of her ass. he let out a guttural groan, shooting thick webs of cum over her perfect ass and picturesque back — “fuck, stay there.”
she sobbed and whined out as his fingers left her hole, feeling empty without his digits stuffed deep inside of her.
he leaned down off of the bed and fished his phone out of his pants pocket, before repositioning himself as before.
“let me take a photo, yeah, baby?” lando asked roughly. “look so fucking pretty like this.”
she hummed, pushing her ass up toward him. flicking to the camera, he placed his hand on her lower ribcage, pulling her marked body back toward him, and snapped a photo.
“lando,” lily whimpered, thighs shaking a little at the loss of her much needed high.
“i’m sorry, what was that, lils?” he asked condescendingly, flipping her from her tummy onto her back. “wanna repeat that?”
“lan,” she murmured, lower lip caught between her teeth.
“oh, pretty baby,” lando teased, leaning over her so their faces met. “shoulda’ though ‘bout what you wanted before you decided to be a bitch.”
“i’m sorry,” she murmured. “didn’t mean it, promise, ‘m so sorry, lan.”
“there she is,” lando switched, his whole mentality flipped based on a few words. “there’s my pretty girl.”
“‘m sorry,” she repeated, tears streaming down her face.
“i know you are, i know you didn’t mean it.” he reassured her, pressing soft kisses to the tear stains on her cheeks. “tell me what you need, and i’ll give it to you, angel.”
the addition of the please popped on the end sealed the deal for him, and he nodded, gently connecting their lips as to say — sorry for being a prick.
“mouth, need your mouth.” she nodded quickly, “please.”
“mhm, there’s my good girl.” he praised, nodding at her as he gazed into her soul.
lando pressed kisses down from her throat, through the valley of her breasts, over her tummy, and softly began his mission to bring his girlfriend— no, best friend into a world of mind-bending pleasure.
“open up for me baby,” he asked softly, placing his hands on her inner thighs.
she spread her legs shakily, letting him have full access to her slick pussy.
lando flattened his tongue against her pussy, groaning against her as he lapped up her juices. he circled her clit, pressing his thumb into her entrance to tease her.
she clenched around him, moaning softly as he closed his lips around her clit, gently sucking it as he replaced his thumb with two thick fingers, sliding into her tight heat with a little resistance. lily whined, clenching around his digits as he set the same pace he had previously kept.
“lan…” she let out a guttural groan, eyes rolling back. “fuck— gonna cum…”
it was embarrassing how quickly she came, inner walls convulsing around his fingers, legs shaking, liquid gushing from her and a large portion of it spraying into his mouth.
he whined into her pussy pathetically, drinking her up without hesitation. “so pretty,” he murmured, toying with her clit as her hips bucked away from him.
“my pretty girl.”
-
the morning drew in, and the tanned arms around her body stayed here, tightening every now and again.
“morning.” he said groggily, lifting his head from the crook of her neck.
“good morning.” she yawned softly.
“i’m um… sorry, about yesterday.” lando began softly, “just um… i just didn’t like you and lewis, and i went the wrong way about it completely, i‘m sorry,” he sighed, blinking at the girl. “i shouldn’t have been with callie, i went there with you, not her.”
“it’s okay, lan, really, i overreacted — but i promise you, nothing is there with me and lewis, he’s just a friend i promise.” lily reassured him, gently carding her fingers through his soft curls.
“i know, i was being a twat.” he pursed his lips. “i’m sorry.”
“it’s okay, i promise.” she nodded softly, pressing a kiss to the tip of his nose.
“why don’t we make an agreement?” lando suggested. “while we’re doing this, there’s no one else. we’re like… exclusive to each other.”
a soft blush spread across her face, and she smiled at the boy wrapped around her.
“yeah, yeah that sounds good.”

god this one was actually so hard to write i almost died — more coming soon!

Catnap + Dogday x Reader ( Part 3 )
<<< Part 2 , Part 4 >>>
Relationship: Fluff
Warning : Hurt/comfort
Character focused : Catnap, Fem! Reader
Plot : Even though you manage to win Catnap's favour through treats
A/n : As a reminder, Catnap is Theo who is a 7 year old child during this period. He's the youngest out of all Smiling Critters in my headcanon since he was the last smiling critter to be shown by MOB!

"Here's your treat for the day! You did even better than before, I'm proud of you!"
Catnap has been doing quite well recently. Giving him rewards after he did his job does the trick pretty well.
Guess one way to someone's heart is through food was a thing after all.
Catnap sits there as he stares at the food you've given him.
You were busy looking through your clipboard to even notice that the feline hasn't left his spot.
Catnap always questioned himself, why do you care about him?
Almost all the staff here ignore him completely as if he never exists, except you.
He is considered as a troublesome mascot to deal with, even before he was Catnap.
Just why....?
Why do you waste your time on him when you can focus on other mascots?
Catnap likes how you treated him. You were gentle as the others had said.
You finally notice the purple feline hasn't left the room, usually Catnap would slip away immediately after he gets his treat and eat it somewhere else.
"Is there anything else I can help you with?"
"...."
Catnap only looks down on you with those beady white eyes, before tilting his head slightly.
The feline mascots got on all four without breaking eye contact with you, he leans his face close to you and says.
"Why?"
"Pardon?"
"Why do....you care about me.......?"
You quirk an eyebrow at his questions, yes his file did said he was troublesome but why did he ask such a question?
"It's simple, it's my job to take care of each one of you. Not only just that, I want to be your friend!"
"You....want to be my...friend?"
"Yeah!"
The only close friend he had was Dogday and The Prototype, he wasn't that close to the other Smiling Critters since they rarely interact with him.
But the idea of having a new friend makes him happy.
He has a new friend. Catnap picks you up by surprise and holds you high up in the air.
Your body went stiff as you cling onto the mascot's paws for dear life. You weren't used to being picked up by the mascots yet. You're 20 ft in the air!
"You are my friend now...."
Catnap said with a wide smile on his face with his tail standing up straight behind him.
He feels very happy!
From that day, Catnap would sneak around to see you and to cuddle with you.
Every time you scratch under his chin, the feline would purr very loudly and you swore that it would cause the entire office to shake.
Sometimes Catnap would be a menace and push things off the desk just to mess with you.
There is one time you decide to play peek-a-boo with the feline mascot, which turns out to be horrifying and Catnap would get closer every time you take a peek.
But it was a fun game.
Catnap mostly spends his day in your office, with him curling around your desk and has his tail wrapped around your leg, so you couldn't go anywhere while he's asleep.
"Catnap...I need to go to the bathroom..."
"....."
"Catnap, please"
Don't get you started when you caught him trying to fit himself in a small box. It was hilarious and cute at the same time.
Like Dogday said, Catnap is a friendly and sweet cat.
Seeing how he acts around you reminds you of your days in the orphanage. Yes, you were once an orphan, seeing these smiling critters reminded you of the younger orphans that you used to take care of. The way they act brings up old memories in your mind.
You wish to see them but the orphanage you once lived in no longer exists due to financial problems just a year after you were dismissed.
The residents around the place told you that they were moved to someplace else, which the location remained unknown.
You hoped that they were able to find a perfect home and have loving families.
TIMESKIP
You're looking through the files, you have done with all the Smiling Critters except for Catnap....
Your supervisor doesn't let you check on him for a reason.
In his file, Catnap is stated as 'Dangerous' and only a high-class personnel is able to do a maintenance check on him.
You always wonder why though....
They would bring him somewhere and return him to the playcare a week later, he would come back looking exhausted and malnourished.
His fur isn't as soft as the other critters, it was rough and matted, sometimes you could smell the scent of burned....flesh on him and also a hint of blood too.
Also, Catnap always has new wounds on his body. Especially his wrists and chest area, like he was prodded by something. Which worries you a lot, what did the higher ups have done to him?
Once the playcare is closed down for the night, you sneak into his hidden room so you could give him a proper treatment.
"It's alright, just rest as much as you can"
"It hurts..."
"I know, I'll do as much as I can to make the pain stop. I-I'm sorry that I couldn't do anything to help you, I wish I could've done more...."
It was heart wrenching to see Catnap this way, his head is huddled close to your body as he seeks comfort in your embrace.
The sound of his weak purr was the only thing that fills the silence in the small room.
After 6 months working for the Playcare you came to realize that these smiling critters are able to bleed....
Pickypiggy cut herself up when she was using the knife during one of her cooking sessions on her stage. Poor Picky bleeds a lot from the cut and you had to stitch her up and bandage her wound.
You had a suspicition that the higher ups are hiding something, something sinister and dark. You had asked some of your coworkers/seniors about it but they just dismissed you.
Saying that you grew TOO attached to these mascots and start to see them as real people.
The sudden shift of Catnap brings you out from your deep thoughts.
"Can you sing me....a lullaby, my star....."
"Of course"
youtube
A/n : I added a little of Reader's lore here :D. Thank you for enjoying the chapters so far!
I have a headcanon for the smiling critters which is—
That they don't remember about their previous lives as a human until 'The Hour of Joy' happens, the only Smiling Critters that are aware of it is Catnap/Theo himself.
So, after 'The Hour of Joy' happens, the smiling critters start to remember their past lives and from the moment they become more aware of their existence and barely clinging on the last bit of sanity they have left.

flustered part 2 ꨄ megumi x reader
ᯓ ᡣ𐭩 part 1 here

a few weeks later, you received an invitation from yuji and nobara to go camping with them and megumi. well, it wasn’t an invitation – they basically forced you to agree. they promised marshmallows, comfortable mattresses and blankets, and a tent which was waterproof in case it would start raining.
on a warm friday night, you headed to a camping area, which was surprisingly empty as you arrived there. a few tents and caravans were scattered here and there, a lot of large trees allowing shadow from the heat of the sun.
you found a spot under a tree, somewhere a little further away from the other campers. yuji and nobara basically squealed in excitement as they began to unpack their backbags, while megumi and you stayed back with amusement.
”those two are like children” you chuckled, glancing over at the messy haired boy next to you.
he hummed with an eyeroll. ”i don’t know how i’ll survive the night with them”
you agreed.
however, once you four began to set the tent which nobara had bought, you started to suspect that something was off.
”uh, noba, are you sure this excuse for a tent really fits four people inside?” you asked with arched eyebrows as you inspected the manual in your hands – which quite clearly said that the maximum capacity was two people.
”yeah, of course!” she said confidently with a wave of hand, yet you noticed the way yuji was smirking and holding back a laugh looking like an idiot.
after a few arguments about how the tent was supposed to be set, megumi ended up doing it almost completely on his own.
”fuck it. i’ll do it” he grumbled under his breath with frustration, seemingly happier to set a tent on his own than listen to you three arguing. megumi effortlessly managed to follow the instructions, sleeves of his oversized hoodie rolled up as he hammered the ropes tightly, the tent nearly crease free after he was done.
another suspicious thing that yuji and nobara did was the fact how interested they were about how to decorate inside the tent. of course, nobara was into beauty and all that, but yuji was the complete opposite of aesthetics and decorations. however, he was just as excited to hang dimly heart-shaped leds inside the tent, while nobara placed a few fake candles in there as well.
once the evening and darkness had set, you lit up a campfire at a safe spot near the tent. a bag of marshmallows was ripped open, the fire perfect for roasting the soft candy.
however, only after two marshmallows, yuji and nobara stood up. they both were clearly holding back childish giggles and as they spoke, you finally realized what was going on.
”so, uh, we actually remembered that we have a project to work on” yuji stifled a laugh, pathetically trying to appear serious and firm.
”yup. a school project. so we, uh, we have to go. you two stay, though” nobara continued with choked giggles.
you and megumi blinked, then turned to look at each other as if you both realized the same thing at the same time. it was more than obvious what was going on here - you had been set up on a date with him. megumi’s face was equally as surprised as yours as you stared into his slightly widened eyes, and you felt yourself blushing.
”a project? we don’t have projects right now” megumi reminded with a stoic tone, even though it was clear from his face that he wasn’t fooled.
”yeah, well, we didn’t return a specific project on time. on domain expansions, you know. so we have to do it, tonight” nobara tried and scratched the back of her neck.
as the two left, you were left sitting with megumi on a wooden bench, the fire still flaming in front of you. you sat there in silence for a few moments, the cold realization of your situation enveloping you. megumi and you were on an overnight date, without even knowing it.
”um, we can leave too, if you want” you eventually broke the silence, not taking your eyes off the orange flames disappearing into the air. the night felt colder since the sun was down, the air serene which was the complete opposite of the storm that was inside of you.
megumi was silent for a few seconds before answering. ”I don’t care. we can stay, too” he suggested quietly, something unusual creeping into his tone. was that… uncertainty that you heard? the poor boy was just as nervous as you were, even if you didn’t realize it.
you turned to look up at him, a blush creeping on your cheeks. ”yeah. i don’t feel like walking back” you said softly, knowing the only reason you wanted to stay was because of megumi.
the boy turned his head to you as well, the flames glimmering in his blue eyes which searched for your face. he looked gentler, the usual stoic and cold look gone from his face now.
”me neither” he agreed nearly as a whisper. for a second you felt your heart swelling with something blissful and exciting, and the electricity you felt a few weeks ago returned immediately. the energy between you that pulled – no – forced you two to be closer, was there again but it was even stronger. there was no way megumi wasn’t interested in you, there was nothing casual in his dilated pupils and pink cheeks. absolutely nothing casual in the soft smile that threatened to make his lips curl as he looked down at you.
as you two returned to the tent, there was another surprise for you – only one sleeping bag. luckily, it was slightly larger than a normal one, but still there was only one.
fucking yuji had promised to pack sleeping bags for you as well. apparently he had promised to pack megumi’s as well.
you glanced up at megumi with an uncertain look as he shoved his hands in the pockets of his gray collars, a sigh leaving his lips. he was scowling a bit, obviously cursing yuji in his head as well.
”i can sleep on the hard ground, it’s no problem” he mumbled and already sat down, as if he was trying to settle down on there. you blinked in disbelief, before you shook your head.
”absolutely not! i’ll sleep on the floor, you’ll get in the bag” you argued and crouched down, a worried yet serious frown on your face. he looked at you, an eyebrow raising a little.
”seriously, it’s no problem. i can handle a sleepless night, unlike you”
”what’s that supposed to mean?” you scoffed.
”just like you get hangry, you also get unbearable when you’ve slept bad” he sassed back with a way too casual tone. you rolled your eyes heavily and sighed.
”still, no. either we both sleep on the floor or in the bag – it’s not fair!”
so, you ended up in the bag.
as the zipper was open, you both awkwardly settled down to lie on your backs. megumi’s side pressed against you, the fabric of your clothing the only thing separating you two now. the only sound was the muzzling of the bag as you moved to zip the thing up.
it proved to be more difficult than you expected.
”uh, are you okay? it’s so cramped here” you chuckled awkwardly, heat rising in your cheeks as you realized you literally had to squirm your body against him.
megumi cleared his throat. ”if we lie on our sides, it won’t be that cramped” he said matter of factly, and you realized he was right. however, as you two settled on your sides to face each other, it made your heart skip a beat. yes, the zipper went up now and you were comfortable inside the bag wrapped around you, but he was so damn close. his face was just… literally there. his sharp nose, cheeks, lips nearly touching yours.
megumi moved some of his hair off his forehead before he shifted again a little. you tried to look everywhere else but his face, but it was rather impossible since you literally felt his soft breaths hitting your skin.
the warmth of his body radiated against your body, which was a surprisingly nice feeling since the air in the tent was slightly cool.
"are you cold?" you asked him gently, your eyes meeting again. you only now realized how long his eyelashes actually were. they were thick and pretty, making his eyes look welcoming and feminine up close.
"no. i'm.. just fine, actually" he answered softly, his often lower tone sounding lighter now.
"i'm a little cold"
megumi then wrapped an arm around you, which completely surprised you. you weren't expecting him to actually make a move, because he didn't seem like a person who would enjoy physical affection or touch.
his long arm pulled your body closer, until you were literally tangled with him. your legs found each other, the limbs wrapping around each other. you gained confidence and wrapped your own arm around him as well, while your other hand rested against his chest.
your breath hitched softly as you felt his long fingers grabbing the fabric of your shirt gently, as if he was afraid you'd escape his grip.
megumi's eyes glanced over at your lips, and you did the same. his lips were pale and not the plumpest, but they looked soft with a hint of pink in them.
your head moved against your will, the energy between the two of you finally forced to release itself as you closed your eyes, only a second later feeling his lips pressing against yours.
the kiss was warm and gentle - something you expected from megumi. he was careful and not rushing it, a small breeze of air escaping his nose. his lips moved against yours in a rhythmic slow dance, your body filling with foggy warmth and mind going blank.
his mouth tasted like mint while his tongue felt warm against your lips. it made your stomach do flips.
after a few moments, you two pulled back. megumi was slightly blushed and panting, the thin lips a bit swollen and wetter now. the sight made your heart swell and a chuckle leave your lips.
"what?" he asked, nearly worried.
"nothing. never expected you to... kiss anyone" you admitted with a embarrassed, playful smirk.
megumi blinked and huffed softly, a fond smile cracking on his face.
"trust me, i've wanted to kiss you for a while now. never just had the... courage to say anything. pathetic, i know" he mumbled, as if he was guilty of something horrible.
you tilted your head and reached to touch his cheek gently, a thumb caressing his soft, pale cheek.
"it's not pathetic. i'm just wondering... why? why did you even want to kiss me?" you asked, genuinely curious how you even caught his interest.
he sighed softly with a small smile.
"you character's unshakable. that's why" he replied casually, as if stating a fact.
you blushed and smiled stupidly, before you leaned in to kiss him again.
damn yuji and nobara for setting this up and fulfilling your dreams.

More Please | Armageddon Event
Request: Greed | Christopher Bahng-Chan by anon song!
warnings: MDNI18+, fem!reader, exhibitionism!, pussy play, fingering, oral mentions (f!), sex flashbacks, double date w/ Changlix, piv mentions
notes! this song better be released because wtf? he can't drop that and dip

When his hand rests on your knee, you don’t overthink it. Chan is a physical lover in every sense. He needs you next to him. Close to him. He just has to know that you’re here, real, and safe.
But when his fingers trail to your lower thigh, you raise an eyebrow.
A silent question since you two are on a double date. Changbin and Felix love telling the story of how they met. Well, Felix does. Changbin only blushes and says ‘it didn’t happen like that’ more times than once. Perhaps Chan is invested in this new version of the story because he doesn’t seem to notice how you glance at him.
Whatever, you’re thinking too much. Chan got more than enough loving before you two left for dinner. The dress, your boyfriend claims, is all to blame. The way it accentuates your hips and makes the top of your breasts pop is sublime.
Sure, it’s cute. A simple floral gown that Chan tied and untied more times than you can count while getting ready. You had to cover the fresh bruises on your neck with so much concealer you think Felix can figure out why that specific spot is so yellow.
But it doesn't matter too much. You don’t regret being a few minutes late in the slightest. Chan is hardly the type for a quickie, so sex with him is always intense. It was only half an hour ago that the hair he styled for tonight was messy from your pulling. The shade of your lipstick was smeared on your face and his own. You doubt there was enough time to clean the pecks you left on his thighs.
And when he was between your legs, you were sure the dress he claimed was so pretty would get ruined. But Chan still insisted on keeping it on, opting to eat your cunt from under the material.
I’ll be careful.
You look down at your thighs upon the memory. You could see it now if you tried, the bobbing of his head making the fabric bounce. Something was alluring about seeing him, but not quite. The fact that you could hear and feel his mouth sucking only heightened the pleasure. You didn’t know what he was going to do next and you were more than eager to find out.
“Ya! Yongbok, you’re embarrassing me!” Changbin’s voice booms in the restaurant. His volume is something you four have grown accustomed to, but with your imagination running wild, you couldn’t help but jump.
Felix smiles, all teeth and pride. “That’s what I love about you though! It’s okay that you’re allergic to wood.”
You smile with them, but it doesn’t reach your eyes. Not when all you think about is how Chan’s fingers are creeping between your legs and making your thighs tense.
And this time when you do look at him, he looks back. “You okay?” His eyes have a certain gleam in them. “You look like you’re thinking about something.”
That little shit. He is doing this on purpose.
“Nothing.” You can play his little game. “Nothing at all.”
His smirk tells you that he catches on. “Hm. I just couldn’t help but notice that you looked…deep in thought.”
Chan squeezes your thigh. Not hard in the slightest, but possessively. The same way he grips your legs when they’re over his shoulders. When he has to find leverage being on top, fingers digging into the underside of your thighs to keep you still and him upright.
“Ooo, I thought so too.” Felix's wide eyes blink innocently. “I thought you were being quiet. What’s on your mind, babe? Is Channie-hyung bothering you?”
Babe. Chan called you babe not too long ago.
His mouth was latched onto your pussy so good the slick started to run down his chin. He was eating like a starved man, greedy for more and more until you were shaking and oozing cum. Chan swallowed everything you gave him, gulping and licking his lips whenever he pulled away to catch his breath. You can still picture the messy curls from under your dress and how his eyes peeked over the material almost in a frenzy.
Fuck, babe, you taste so good.
Clearing your throat is the only way to make the memories fizzle into nothing but the arousal in your stomach. “When isn’t he bothering me? I don’t know how I’ve managed to put up with him for so long.”
Changbin laughs. Both at your words and Chan’s blushing face. Felix only agrees, stating how bothersome your lover used to be back in pre-debut days.
“Ah, but you like it when I’m annoying, don’t you, baby?” Chan’s ears twinge with red, but his fluster doesn’t stop his fingers from prying your legs and finally finding the space he’s been aiming for. “You like it enough to stay with me, hm?”
His touches are soft on your cunt. The tips of his fingers brushing against your clit so sweetly it almost feels like a massage.
The buzz in your pussy spreads throughout your body. It’s warm and comforting, and all you can reply is, “Whatever.”
The conversation stirs to Changbin talking about a track he’s making; asking his hyung for advice on mixing and sampling. Chan answers as though he’s not playing with your folds through your underwear.
It was easy enough to listen in the beginning. All you had to do was nod and hum in agreement, but when Chan’s fingers prodded your clit and your clit only, you jolted.
No one seemed to notice. Felix was too entranced in his boyfriend to see how your jaw had slacked open and your eyes nearly crossed from Chan’s fingers.
And when he slid down, he could feel how wet you were getting through your panties. Chan could only imagine how swollen your cunt is from his lips, fingers, and cock. Neither of you thought there’d be enough juice left to get horny, but the slick on his fingers and your underwear shows how possible that is.
The pads of Chan’s fingers rub slow circles on your entrance. It leaves his digits warm and a little wet, and he uses that to trail back up to play with the peak of your clit. If you focus hard enough, you could make out the soft sounds of squishing and slicking from your pussy.
It’s barely audible, but Changbin’s booming voice easily overshadows it.
Breathe. You have to remind yourself to breathe. Your moans force themselves into quiet puffs of air. Maybe to the couple across, it just looks like you’re catching your breath from eating, but everything feels so obvious. From the licking of your lips to the slight movement in Chan’s shoulder, you think Felix and Changbin have to know what’s happening under the table.
Then your boyfriend adjusts in his seat. You envision his fingers slipping away for a moment, but the exact opposite happens. Chan uses the movement to his advantage, making the slide into your underwear unbelievably smooth.
And gosh, his fingers are even warmer like this. You thought they’d be cold from the air, but being attached to your cunt even with the panties in the way kept them hot. The ridges of his knuckles glide perfectly over your clit and you can’t help the way your hips buck.
“Fuck! I-sorry.” They’re looking at you. Their eyes feel heavy - watchful. You look to Chan for help, but he only has a clueless look in his eyes that makes you want to strangle him. “I thought I felt something crawl on my leg.”
Changbin pales. “Don’t say that! Are you serious?”
You shake your head. “It was just my-” Chan slips a finger in, deep, thick, and welcomed. You suck in a sharp breath. “My imagination. Sorry.”
“Here. I’ll check.” Chan lifts the tablecloth. You have to pinch your lips together from gasping, pretending that Chan’s finger isn’t digging into your cunt for a waiter who decides to check in on your four to see.
He hums, fully acting as if he’s thoroughly searching.
Then a second finger finds its way inside. He even goes as far as to lean down, pretending to look under the table when you feel a string of warm saliva hit your cunt.
Breathe. In. Out. In. Out.
And his fingers are doing the same. They barely thrust to not make it obvious, but it so is. How can he possibly be hungry for more when he was just-
“Nope. I don’t see anything.” Chan’s face is red. You know his friends will write it off from being upside down, but you know the blood rushing to his face is the same reason his cock is straining uncomfortably in his jeans.
“I think my jagiya is getting tired. Should we go home soon?”
It doesn’t matter how good his fingers hit your sensitive spot. How the hard part of his palm rubs just perfectly on your clit. You won’t ever give him the satisfaction.“I don’t know. I think I’m feeling wide awake.”
The smile on his face says it all. You’re definitely getting it rough tonight.
Again.
“Yeah. You know what? I do need to finish that stupid album.” Changbin groans in annoyance. “I really wanted to have seconds too.”
Felix giggles at his lover - praising him for eating so well when you’re the one that’s stuffed to the brim. Chan nods, “Yeah, that sounds good. Plus, I think we have dessert at the house, right baby? You want a little more?”
Little shit. He hardly uses his flirty voice, but it makes you clench around him anyway.
You suppose you’ll let him indulge in you a bit longer. “Please.”

NOT PROOFREAD
Summer was pretty much the constant season where you grew up outside of the few weeks the sun disappeared and the rain turned the beaches grey.
You appreciated the break every year considering it just made the heat coming back feel ten times better, that first day being able to run into the ocean again always feeling like your towns personal version of new year.
Let the salt water wash away your sins and the tears that had long dried on your sun kissed cheeks.
Your town had been spared from tourist for most of your childhood even though it’s definitely gained traction during more recent years if the alarming amount of people outside the local diners said anything.
The locals didn’t mind as long as they cleaned up their empty bottles of sunscreen from the public beaches and didn’t interfere with the abundance of native wild life.
You definitely didn’t mind considering you were on your sixth year working at the smoothie shop just a block away from the most popular beach and you enjoyed suckering large families out of large tips by giving them basic fun facts about the area they could use for their vacation.
It was the least you could do as somebody who lived in a permanent one.
This years version of those rainy few weeks came in the suddenly deliverance of news you’d never even imagined hearing let alone prepared yourself to deal with.
“Hey.” Jake sounded out of breath as he crashed through the flimsy door of the smoothie shop, hair wet from either just leaving the beach where he worked as a lifeguard or from the slight drizzle that had started to pick up.
“Hey, don’t get my floor wet. Assuming you’re off this week?” You were folding cleaning rags in preparation for closing up the shop for the next few days due to the news channel continuously warning the locals of a storm coming.
Jake rolled his eyes at your light scolding but you noticed that he did avoid sitting on the stools or touching anything he could get his wetness on.
“Oh so it’s your floor now?” He was cocking an eyebrow up as he looked at you and now it was your turn to roll your eyes, a light smile on your face at the teasing.
You’d know Jake the same amount of time you had known pretty much anybody living in the town which was basically the entire sum of your life. All the kids went to the same small school district and everyone’s parents knew each other to some capacity so there’d never been a time you didn’t know him and your other friends.
“So…” Your extensive knowledge of him made it even more obvious that he was about to tell you something you didn’t want to hear, his tone changing to the same one he used whenever he had to let the beach goers know the waters weren’t safe. “He’s back in town.”
The mood in the small shop changed immediately and you tensed up from where you were still folding the rags, placing the one you were working on back down onto the counter and squeezing it with your hand.
You noticed the rain picking up outside and it was almost ironic how it seemed to match your mood.
“Oh.” That was all you could manage to say and Jake dropped his shoulders in defeat at your dull reaction. “No Jakey thanks for telling me that’s.. it’s nice to have a heads up.”
Neither one of you spoke for a few seconds and you let the sound of the wind whipping around the thin metal panels of the roof distract you just enough to stop you from immediately bombarding him with questions. You didn’t need him to know how much you cared even though you knew he already did.
“Did- did you see him?”
“Saw his mom at the market on my lunch break.” He was watching you so intensely that it was starting to annoy you. He looked like he was waiting for you to explode and you were considering giving him what he wanted just so he’d stop staring like that. “They’re like.. well he’s back in the old house so I’m assuming that means… yeah.”
He was awkward in his delivery but you understood exactly what he meant, your old friend wasn’t just back in town for a vacation or a trip down memory lane but instead he was back for at least the near future.
Your head hung low as you tried your best to not react outwardly but the humorless scoff left your mouth before you could stop it and you heard Jake sigh near the door.
Luck was at least in your favor considering the news was right and the rain didn’t stop for another four days meaning you and the boys didn’t have work and there was no chance of you running into the exact person you wanted to avoid.
You spent your days at Sunghoon’s house which was on the other side of town from where you and the rest of your friends lived.
Sunghoon had been the last person to join your small group and he almost hadn’t been accepted considering he didn’t go to the same school and actually didn’t live there at all. His father was beyond wealthy and owned a nice property up on the hill, a place you and your friends used to sit on the beach and stare at while daydreaming about living there.
He came down every winter from the city so him and his dad could escape the cold and icy roads and then he’d leave again once the temperature picked up.
Naturally this made him a bit of an outcast compared to the rest of you who grew up together and spent nearly every single day hanging out and playing on the beaches but you liked him nonetheless.
He wasn’t as spoiled as you figured he probably could have been and if anything he was actually pretty sheepish whenever someone mentioned how much money he constantly had at his disposal.
You’d all tease him until he bought you snacks and ice cream in bulk just to get you off his back, a silent peace offering.
An even more silent ‘I’m sorry you’re poor and I’m not’.
Once you all got older and his dad got too tired to continue the travel back and forth just to avoid some snow, Sunghoon would come by himself just to see you all and you imagined it was any day now before he decided to stay for good.
The image from their hillside property was breathtaking even through the storm, floor to ceiling windows that you’d perch yourself on while the others slept. It had a perfect view of the biggest beach and the mountains behind it and despite growing up with it as your backdrop, you never got used to it.
“Can’t sleep?” Riki’s voice was echoing through the nearly empty living room, a feat of Sunghoon’s dad practically moving out.
You turned your head to see him shuffling towards you in his pajamas with an open bottle of wine in his hands. He was taking a swig before nudging your leg with his hand so you would move it and he could sit down beside you with a groan.
His back was against the other side of the windowsill and your legs were crossing over his in a mirror image but he looked just as exhausted as you figured you did and it was sort of comforting to know you weren’t the only one handling this bad.
“When do I ever sleep?” Your hand was sticking out as you spoke and he took one more sip of the wine before handing the bottle over to you.
Your face pulled into a grimace at the sour taste and he laughed softly at the reaction before leaning forward to snatch it back and keep it away from you. You looked back out the window but you could feel him staring at you now and you sighed.
Riki had been around just as long as Jake had but he was also your neighbor which added another layer of familiarity. There was no hiding your family issues with him like you attempted with the others because he was one window away and often the person you ran to when things got too hard.
“Saw him in town you know, before we headed up here.” He was starting off in a whisper like he was testing the waters and you were getting sick of people treating you like a loose canon when it came to this. “He looks different.”
“Obviously. He was a kid last time we saw him and he’s what, 20 now?” You phrased it like you weren’t too sure but both of you were aware that you knew his exact age. You’d never forgotten his birthday and your mood soured every year on that day for the past four times it cycled past.
“21.” Riki clarified anyways and you appreciated that you both pretended you’d be able to make that mistake. “And I don’t just mean he grew up I mean he looks terrible.”
Your stomach turned uncomfortably as graphic images made their way into your mind and you squeezed your eyes tight at the thought of him and what he could possibly look like now.
“Why are you telling me this Riki?” You sounded hurt and lost and you felt his leg nudging yours again like he was either trying to comfort you or snap you out of the tense state you’d fallen into. You opened your eyes and stared at him and the way the moonlight highlighted the side of his face.
“I told him I’d meet him for lunch once the storm cleared up.” He said it slowly and that made it that much easier for you to hear the overwhelming guilt in his voice. “I’d like for you to be there. I’m asking you to be there.”
Your face fell flat but he didn’t stop looking at you as he dropped the bomb and you almost wanted to shy away from the intense gaze just waiting for you to show that you cared.
“You can’t ask me that.” It came out as a whisper and you hated how weak you sounded at just the idea of seeing him.
“But I am.”
—
Two days later the clouds were gone like they’d never been there and the unrelenting heat was building back up at full force. You all returned down from the hillside property with raging hangovers and a suffocating promise.
You tried to ignore your phone ringing on the wall because you knew who it was, or at least could guess out of three names but it was pointless considering Riki was right next door and the ringing soon turned to knocks at your window.
So you told yourself you agreed to the lunch because you were sick of being harassed about it and it was not because you needed to see him for yourself.
If anything this was your chance to prove you didn’t care about him and you just had never felt that level of loss before. It wouldn’t kill you to hear his voice and listen to the way it’s changed over the lost time and you’d be able to get through the meal with a few awkward conversations before getting to go back to your regular life.
You were immediately proven wrong the second you pushed into the restaurant and you would have stopped in your tracks if it wasn’t for Riki’s guiding hand on your lower back.
He worked at this restaurant and it was directly on the shore of the beach so despite it being busy post storm he was easily maneuvering you through it towards the table.
You stayed back a few feet as the boy stood up and went to greet your other friends, a few awkward seconds passing like they didn’t know wether to shake hands or hug before Jake was moving forward and pulling the older boy into a tight embrace.
Sunghoon was doing the same and rubbing the back of his head comfortably before Riki gave him a familiar pat on the shoulder due to the fact they’d already gone through the first encounter nerves.
The three boys immediately climbed into the booth and started to flip through the menus to give you some privacy even though you all knew they’d eaten the same things here since they were kids and knew every dish like the back of their hand.
You still appreciated the gesture considering the second he looked at you your heart clenched painfully and you suddenly felt like you were 17 again.
“Hey y/n.” His voice was low as he spoke but you could still hear it enough to notice you barely recognized it. It had dropped a few octaves and it was painfully raspy.
“You look like shit Hee.” Your blunt words and the use of the familiar nickname made him scoff out a laugh and he nodded his head in agreement to your insult.
He truly did even though you were just trying to tease him and loosen the atmosphere. He was ten shades paler than the rest of you but you had a feeling it wasn’t due to him not being around the sun all the time anymore. He looked nearly sickly and your stomach turned the more you saw the signs of that being true.
His eyes looked tired and sad but what was the worst change was how skinny he was. He’d always been thin but now he was towering over you and still looking like a strong wave could take him out.
He sniffed uncomfortably because of your intense gaze and your eyes honed in on his prominent wrist bone and the way he flicked at his nostril.
Your eyebrows furrowed at the action and he immediately lowered his arm like he’d just been caught doing something, confirming your belief.
The silence was awkward but luckily one of Riki’s coworkers was approaching to get your drinks and you scooted past the tall boy so you could slide in the booth besides Sunghoon.
It was unusual for you to be nearly silent and not engaging in the conversation but you couldn’t really handle trying to fumble your way through acting like everything was normal like the others were.
You started to wonder if they really did think it was just a normal meal while catching up with a childhood friend.
It blew your mind to consider that maybe they didn’t see the way Heeseung was constantly bouncing his knee and picking apart his napkin or the fact he’d barely taken a bite of food the entire time. Did they not see his fidgeting eyes and the fact he looked sick every glance he took towards your direction.
The boys did their best to fill the silence without bringing up anything that would let Heeseung know how much he’d missed out on and soon enough everyone was having to go back to work.
You’d gotten the day off since the storm had drastically killed off the tourist that make up 90% of your daily customers and you could tell the boy across from you felt a bit lost when everyone stated their plans for the rest of the day.
“Did you maybe want to go to the beach with me?” You had no idea why you were inviting him but by the time you noticed the shocked look on your friends faces, it was too late and the offer was hanging heavily in the air.
He looked around like he wasn’t quite sure you were talking to him and his eyes were a little more alert when he finally turned back to face you.
“Uh yeah sure.”
Riki gave you a cautious look as you left and Sunghoon parted you with a swift kiss on the cheek and another firm hug for Heeseung. Jake was heading to the same place as you for his shift as a lifeguard so it made the walk down the street a little less awkward.
The roles reversed from lunch and now it was Heeseung’s turn to fall silent while you and Jake softly joked and made casual commentary on the damage the storm had did. You would have forgotten he was there at all if not for his constantly sniffling and the fact his presence shifted your entire atmosphere.
“Be safe yeah?” You weren’t sure if it was meant to have a double meaning but Jake made your stomach turn as he left your side to head to the watch tower.
Heeseung was clearing his throat beside you but you ignored him in favor of finding an umbrella to sit near, not quite under so you could still feel the sun on your skin. He opted for sitting directly under the shade and you were brought back to when you were kids and he was always the last one inside.
He was impossible to tame and get out of the water even long after the sun set and the parents began to call you all home but he couldn’t be more different now.
Memories of his freckled tan face smiling at you, eyes squinted against the bright sky with his hand above his eyebrows to try and block it so he could see you better. His laugh always the loudest sound over the crashing waves and the way it felt when he’d wrap his arms around you to throw you into the water.
Now he was practically curling in on himself to avoid the rays and he looked almost pained at the sounds of the kids playing and splashing around.
It was hard to believe this was the same boy who had you convinced there was salt water in his veins.
“Since when are you getting high?”
You didn’t sound at all accusatory in your question, just plainly asking for an answer to the obvious but he immediately tensed up and sent a glare that would have you believing you’d gotten it wrong if it wasn’t for the embarrassment in his eyes.
He took a few seconds to answer but you extended your thin patience towards him and waited.
“I’m not anymore.” He had a funny tone to his that almost sounded like he was saying an inside joke, something you clearly didn’t understand and your face furrowed. “That’s why I’m here actually.”
Your mouth was parting in realization and you couldn’t help the bitter laugh that slipped out of you. You felt overwhelmingly stupid in that moment but it wasn’t necessarily your fault for not assuming the worst about his intentions.
“Here I thought you were back because you actually missed us. Didn’t realize this was your rehab.” He didn’t look amused anymore and you were struck by how much you wanted to see him smile at you again.
He nodded and looked away from you and that was enough for you to realize the conversation was over.
—
four years ago
You’d never been anywhere else but you had a hard time believing any other place could measure up to what you were experiencing now.
The sounds of your lifelong friends splashing each other and laughing as they took unexpected blows from the waves, bodies crashing through the surface of the water and pushing back through with groans of playful annoyance.
You knew the sun was setting soon which meant the head lifeguard (who happened to be jake’s older brother) was going to usher you all back home and away from the water but you would have given anything for the moment to freeze.
Even if your butt was damp from the wet sand you were sitting on and you were starting to shiver from the lack of clothes paired with the disappearing heat.
You watched as another head popped out of the water before standing to his full height and glancing around like he was searching for something. His gaze stopped on you and a bright smile broke out on his face at the sight of you sitting on the beach and observing the scene.
It made you feel warm to see him brush off your friends and push through the water so he could get over to you, shaking his head to semi dry his hair and laughing when you squealed at the sudden wetness hitting you.
“You cold?” He was flopping down onto the sand next to you and his cold skin brushed yours for a second before you flinched away and groaned.
“Yeah but I think Jaeyun’s brother is gonna make us leave any second anyways.” You were scrunching your nose up as you looked over at him and he smiled up at you.
Heeseung always seemed to be smiling but especially in your direction.
You weren’t an idiot and you didn’t at all miss the fact that he was extra attached to you. You had a deeper bond than anybody else in the group and even though you weren’t exactly sure when the transition into something deeper happened, you were sure you both could feel it constantly bubbling under the surface.
It wasn’t something you felt like you needed to confess or say out loud officially because you had all the time in the world here with him.
“Come swim with us.” He was watching you as your hand reached over to swipe the drying sand off his forehead.
“Not happening Hee sorry.” You smiled when he groaned and rolled over onto his back, knowing you had made up your mind by the tone in your voice. “We can always swim tomorrow.”
—
Tomorrow never came because the next morning you were racing down to the Lee house with a plate of cinnamon rolls Riki’s mom had made and finding it almost completely empty.
Your heart had dropped into your stomach but you still slowly approached the familiar door and knocked against it softly.
Typically you didn’t even bother knocking considering you were there more than your own house but something was off and you suddenly felt like an intruder.
The sight of his grandma opening the door and giving you a pained expression when she saw it was you almost fully killed you and if that didn’t do it then the fact she softly whispered to you that he wasn’t going to be coming back anytime soon definitely did.
It was hard not to grab her by the shoulders and demand she tell you where he had gone and it was even harder to hold in your sobs as you ran all the way back to the house next to yours, bursting into Riki’s living room and climbing into his bed to cry while you waited for him to get off work.
He’d barely understood you through your blubbering sobs and when he did he was joining you in the bed and falling into a hurt silence.
The hurt rippled through you for months until you gathered the courage to ask his grandma for his address so you could write him a letter.
She was clearly reluctant but she gave it to you anyways and you spent all week writing it and expressing to him how you felt, both for him and about the fact he had left without saying goodbye. You wished she’d turned you down when it got sent right back unopened and the same thing happened for the next twenty after that.
You kept writing them for two years even though they’d always make their way back to the post office and at the end of that summer, you finally put the pen down.
At some point during the third year you’d gotten a postcard that had no writing on it or even a signature. It was just a blank card with a photo of some cartoonish cherry blossoms and a small river.
You somehow knew it was from him without any confirmation and you wept like a baby in the middle of all the mailboxes, hugging it to your chest and swearing you’d never let yourself feel like that again. You almost sent it back to him like he’d done to you for so long but instead you stuffed it under your pillow and tried to not feel it’s weight every night you slept.
Now four years later he was suddenly everywhere again.
He’d started to work at the surfboard rental shop across from your own place and he was practically at every single hangout like nothing had changed.
Except everything had changed and he was such a jarringly different person that you almost felt like you were hanging out with the corpse of your old friend.
“We’ve gotta get you some sun man.” Jake was disguising his concerns with some light teasing one of the days you all made your way up to Sunghoon’s place but you all knew Heeseung and his current state was the constant elephant in the room.
“Yeah.” His noncommittal low mumbling was about the most you got out of him these days and you sighed from where you were laying on the couch.
His empty gaze landed on you when you were standing up and pushing Sunghoon’s legs off of you (much to his annoyance). You approached him and stuck your hand out in his direction just to be met with a raised eyebrow and no movement.
“Cmon let’s go.” You were firm in your words and shaking your hand slightly to urge him to take it in his before you got too impatient. He sighed at you but did exactly that and you pushed aside the warmth that spread you in favor of pulling him up so he was standing.
You were slightly thrown off by how close he ended up next to you so you took a step back while raking over his tall frame and clearing your throat.
“I’m sick of your moping.” You didn’t expect him to continue holding your hand after you pulled him up but you took advantage of the opportunity and started to tug him behind you as you walked towards the doors.
Heeseung stayed silent as you dragged him outside and down the long sandy steps that led down the hillside and onto the small private beach that the park family owned. You never hung out there much as kids considering you weren’t allowed to surf here and you preferred the large waves and active community of the public one but it would do for now.
“What are we doing?” He was finally speaking once you dropped his hand and turned to look at him.
“Going swimming obviously.” You were pulling your shirt over your head the second you finished speaking so you just barely saw his reaction to your hands grabbing the bottom hem.
It was long enough that you managed to watch his eyes widen and drop down to the sudden skin showing but he somehow was able to have a blank expression again by the time you got it off and tossed it onto the sand carelessly.
You’d turned to walk closer to the water but you stopped and looked over your shoulder when you realized he wasn’t following you anymore.
“Cmon.” Your thumbs pushed down the hem of your shorts to showcase the rest of your bikini and now you heard him scoff a laugh as the water touched your ankles.
The water was unusually cold from the few cloudy days you’d had but you were determined now to get him to have some fun and open up a little bit before he really started to bum the rest of you out.
You fought your smile when you heard light splashing behind you and when you finally turned around you were thrown off by the amount of pale skin you were seeing. Obviously you knew he’d have to take off his shirt to get in the water but you were mainly stuck on the changes to his body.
He’d clearly filled out, something you could have guessed from the height, and now he looked surprisingly strong unlike his lanky frame he had when you were younger. Outfit of his ribs slightly showing, he definitely had some muscle definition that you looked away from immediately.
Your eyes landed on what was even more jarring and he surprisingly didn’t shy away when you scanned over the bruising covering his stomach and sides.
You met his gaze for just a second and he just stood there with the light ripples hitting his belly button.
“Get into some trouble?” Your question was light and almost teasing so he had room to ignore you. You didn’t want to bombard him for answers especially since it wasn’t really your place anymore.
If this had been four years ago, you would have wrapped him up in your arms and demanded to know who possibly could have hurt him but that boy wasn’t here anymore. He definitely wasn’t the cold one standing in front of you.
“Something like that.” His response was as uncharacteristic as you expected it to be and you simply nodded your head before waiting for him to catch up to you.
He was up to his chest now in the water and you were starting to struggle to stay afloat which seemed to amuse him if the quirk of his lips told you anything.
“Isn’t this nice?” Your voice was quieter now and you almost face palmed at how nervous and unnatural you sounded.
Heeseung was just watching you like you were the one who had changed but there was something heavy in his eyes now. You almost flinched at the feeling of his warm leg brushing yours under the water once he was finally starting to relax and float a little but you managed to collect yourself.
He hummed in agreement but you could tell he was just doing it to give you the answer he knew you wanted to hear.
You wondered if the cold water felt good on his bruises or if you were just making him feel worse by trying to help.
“Surprised you didn’t bring the others.” He was talking again surprisingly and now he was fully floating on his back with his gaze set on the sky and the colors of the setting sun. “Since you and Sunghoon are so close now.”
The jealous tone of his voice was not something you were used to and you didn’t realize he could sound even less like himself until he proved you wrong.
Heeseung and you had always been each others number ones and he’d never had to doubt his position in your life before but it made you blood boiling mad that he had such an accusatory tone now like you’d done something wrong.
Did he expect you to sit around and mope forever, holding out hope that he’d maybe decide to return one day despite not even knowing where he’d gone?
“We’ve always been close Heeseung. We all are.” Your voice was stable despite how the opposite you felt and something unsaid was being heard loudly in your choice of words.
For the first time since he came back, you were blatantly excluding him from the group. None of you were teenagers anymore and you’d been through a decade of stories and experiences just in the last few years as you transitioned into adults.
Maybe the sight of him now, grown up and empty, wouldn’t have hurt so bad if you watched it happen slowly instead of all at once. Maybe it wouldn’t have happened this way at all and he would have been a totally different person with your influence.
You immediately felt guilty and gross for giving yourself that much credit.
“It’s different now though.” He seemed set in his idea that you and Sunghoon had some secret deeper bond and you didn’t even try to argue with him this time.
“You’re different.” The response you settled with was pretty petty and he seemed to agree judging by the way he scoffed but he was sitting up and moving a tad closer to you in the water.
“Yeah well you’re exactly the same.” He said it so simply that you couldn’t tell if it was meant to be an insult, compliment or simply just an observation. He was either calling you immature or making a callback to how your relationship used to be.
You figured it was the latter when his hand was brushing against your waist under the water.
“Not all of me.” Your voice had gotten lower now as you realized the mood was shifting to something you’d not experienced with him before.
You’d always found Heeseung attractive obviously but he was so young and you weren’t exactly the age either where you were thinking about him in this way. Sure, he’d been touchy back then with his hand in yours or an arm around your waist as you walked together but never with this look in his eye.
It felt wrong to have him shifting even closer to you, bare chest and his wet hair almost covering his eyes as he stared down due to your newfound height difference.
Mainly the wrong feeling came due to the fact that you barely knew him now and you didn’t want to get to know him like this. You wished it had happened naturally, your friendship had returned when he did and so did your comfortability and maybe eventually the love buried deep in your chest.
But you were so desperate to feel something from him, anything that might indicate he had once cared about you. So you didn’t push him away when he leaned down to kiss you.
His mouth was hot against yours and suddenly all of the teasing touches and heavy glances made a lot more sense.
He had a desperation you didn’t expect and your head was spinning by the time he was pulling you even closer by your waist and slotting his knee in between your legs under the water.
“Hee.” You breathed out his name as he licked into your mouth and he shushed you impatiently, not wanting to give you the chance to stop him before he’d even gotten to really have you.
You weren’t going to and your hips were rolling against his leg, the water hitting higher up on your stomach and making you gasp from the cold and how it splashed over your covered chest.
He seemed to notice considering he was impatiently pulling the fabric of your bikini top away from your skin and you moaned when his mouth was leaving yours in favor of hungrily connecting with your hard nipples. The warmth of his mouth made you spin and you held the back of his head against your chest.
His knee was rocking under you and you kept grinding yourself down on it, free hand wrapping around his back and feeling the muscles clench everytime he moved himself towards you.
“Hee.” you gasped out his name again and this time he atleast hummed in acknowledgement, big hands gripping your waist and forcing you to keep moving against him.
“Cmon y/n, stop fucking talking.” His mouth was back on yours and this time it was you who immediately licked into his closed lips, the sound of his low voice spurring you on even more.
He was lifting you out of the water and your legs wrapped around his waist so you wouldn’t fall. You didn’t even realize he’d be strong enough to lift you but he seemed to have no problem as he started walking towards the shore and you rolled your hips into his hard on that you could now feel pressing against you.
Your mouth parted when you felt how hard he was already and he laid you gently down onto the sand before climbing ontop of you and kissing you again.
This time his body was covering you and you whined when his hips lowered down on yours.
He was sitting up for only a second so he could finish untying your bathing suit and tugging it off of you and you watched as his eyes locked hungrily on your bare chest while you panted heavily.
Your eyes were big and wanting as you stared up at him and the sight was almost too much so he went back to kissing you deeply.
His body was still just as wet as yours and the feeling of his hot skin warming up what the water had cooled was almost as addicting as the way he rolled his hips down slowly.
“Fuck y/n.” He was groaning into your neck and you inhaled at the way he was biting the skin and definitely leaving marks on you. “Used to be mine remember?”
You were shaking your head in disagreement but the way you were rocking your hips and holding onto the back of his head was very telling, you might as well have had his name carved on you.
“Gonna make you mine again.”
Heeseung was pushing your bathing suit bottoms to the side and playing with the waistband of his before impatiently shoving them down onto his thighs. You were both hurt by his impatience and extremely turned on by the fact he was about to take you on the beach without even fully undressing you.
“Tell me you want it.” His tongue licked up to your ear and you gasped at the feeling of his thick head pressing against your wetness, your legs spreading automatically for him.
“Want it. Want it Hee.” You were breathing heavily and trying to fuck yourself down on him even though it was pointless considering how strong his grip on your waist was, pinning you down against the sand and feeling the way you arched up into him when he started to push himself inside.
The slide was easy and your cry was loud enough that you almost worried the other boys would be able to hear you.
“Fucking tight.” His voice was strained as he spat the words through gritted teeth and you clenched around him at the praise, wanting to make him feel as good as he was so easily doing to you. “Perfect pussy for me, sliding right in. So wet y/n.”
His constant use of your name made you feel even more insane and you whined louder when he bottomed out inside you. Heeseung didn’t waste any time before he was starting to roughly fuck into you and it was exactly what you needed after years of pent of anger and emotions.
“Fuck me hard Hee.” You begged him through your cries and he gladly delivered exactly what you needed, slamming his hips against yours so fast it was painful. “Fucking hate you.”
“Hate you so much.” His rebuttal was quick and he caught your mouth in a rough kiss as he spoke, teeth hitting yours making you wince in pain.
“Show me. Fuck me like you hate me.”
He was doing what you asked without any question and you almost broke from how much you could feel it radiating off of him, hate and anger stemming from something you didn’t even understand.
Then it was over before you even processed it started and you were both left panting on the sand as the sun finished setting and the sand underneath you dried.
Heeseung was rolling away from you to land on his back with a grunt and your entire body shivered when you felt his arm pressing against yours and giving you a little bit of warmth that barely made up for how cold you felt all over.
Everything surrounding you was cold now and him not saying a single world just made it ten times worse.
You were hit with shame and guilt tenfold and tears were springing to yours eyes before you could stop them. You vaguely heard him shifting next to you and sniffing loudly, your head turning to him.
Your eyes grew in size when you saw he’d dug something out of his discarded shirts pocket and was sitting up with his head turned away from you like it would make what he was doing any less obvious.
“Are you fucking kidding me right now?” Your voice was low and venomous and your hands uncomfortably went to cover your chest as you sat up and scooted away from him. “You’re getting high?”
He didn’t even look over at you as he cleared his burning throat and shoved whatever the small capsule was back into his crumbled up shirt. The sight of him rolling his eyes like you were annoying him almost made you just sink into the ocean and disappear.
“Get dressed before they come down here and find you like that.” He was standing up as he spoke again and you hated that the tears were fully falling now, hot on your flushed cheeks.
Your shaking hands did their best to tie up your bikini top and he finally looked down at where you were still sitting on the sand and sobbing. You weren’t sure he could see the tears considering how dark it was now but when he turned his face away with a cold expression you knew that he had.
Heeseung was pulling his shift over his head and hesitating for just a few seconds while looking at the stairs back up to the house, almost like he was considering leaving you there.
“Who even are you?” You weren’t sure how you managed to speak so strongly through your cries but he clearly felt the impact of it as he tensed up and his jaw locked.
“Does it matter?”
——
After you’d gotten dressed you had stormed past him up the steps only after slamming your shoulder into his side and steeling your expression. He gave you a few seconds before he was following you up but he didn’t come inside when you got up there.
You’d gone up to Riki and quietly asked him if he could take you home, cold hands shaking as they gripped his wrist and eyes still swollen.
The other boys were silent when they saw the state of you and you just hoped they couldn’t guess what had happened, shame hitting you hard at even the idea of them finding out how you’d just been used and discarded so easily.
You sat there the entire car ride back to town with your head half out the window and the warm summer air doing it’s best to stop the tears from rolling down your face.
Riki didn’t ask you any questions and you were grateful when he pulled into his own driveway and not yours, not even realizing how much you didn’t want to go home until you saw your front door and felt the nausea building.
It was unspoken that he let you rot in the bed in the spare room for the first few days and by day three Jake was rubbing your back softly and trying to get you to eat something.
Sunghoon came and went constantly and you spent most nights with him laying beside you, not touching or speaking but just having him there. You weren’t sure if they’d figured it out or if Heeseung told them but something in you knew that they knew what happened.
You started to feel slightly better after a week of moping and letting yourself finally feel the heartbreak that’d be been building for so many years and after two weeks you were back to work.
If you spent more your shift looking out the window to try to get a glimpse of him in the shop across the street then that was your own personal secret.
He was still somebody you cared about as frustrating as that was but it still made you sick that you started to worry when you hadn’t seen him for a few weeks.
It had been almost a month since that night on the beach and you no longer could assume he was just avoiding you. The town was too small and you would have run into by now regardless if you wanted that or not so he’d either been completely isolating himself or he was gone again and you weren’t sure which one of those hurt you more.
“He’s still here.” Sunghoon’s voice was low next to your ear as you laid in his bed this time, giving Riki and his family a break even though he insisted they didn’t need or want one.
You still wanted to come up here with Sunghoon even though it was a bit hard considering what had happened last time but you figured it was hard for him to be in such a big house all by himself now that his dad wasn’t coming anymore.
“Did you talk to him?” You were rolling onto your stomach and looking at him with wide eyes and he sighed softly as he studied the hope on your face.
“Not really.” He was mumbling now and the pout your lips formed almost made him feel sick. “Just for a second. I was skating past his place.”
You were nodding in understanding but you felt weirdly settled that he hadn’t gone anywhere and he was seemingly here to stay despite how it always felt like he was trying his hardest to get away from you all. You should have get the times worse that he was around and you had a change to run into him sooner than later but you were an idiot at heart.
“He doesn’t deserve you being sad for him, you know that right?” Your hair was being pushed behind your ear by Sunghoon’s hand and you watched him as he stared.
He looked vulnerable and it made sense considering he was not the type of person to say things like that to anybody, especially not to you. Your heart hurt hearing it from somebody else but you gave a soft nod anyways despite not at all agreeing with what he was saying.
“I mean it. You’re like… the best thing any of us could even begin to imagine and he acts like you’re going to stay no matter how he treats you. He’s always been like that, you just didn’t want to see it.”
Your face fell as he kept talking and getting more and more upset. You’d had no idea he felt this way or even noticed things like that and you hated that you started to think about what Heeseung had insinuated before on the beach.
It made you feel overly warm to consider that Sunghoon might have some type of feelings towards you and yet here he was, laying in bed with you for days and comforting you after you let some asshole break your heart for the thousandth time.
“I’m not going to let him do that to me anymore Hoon.” You heard your voice as it came out and heard how obvious the lie was, knowing he did too when he was just blankly staring at you.
“You love him.” His response was curt but it hit you full force and you tried your best not to let any visible reaction show. “You chose him a long time ago.”
You weren’t sure if he was talking about you choosing Heeseung over yourself and your own well-being or if he was once again saying what you think he might have been.
The guilt coursed through you when you were laying your head down on his chest and listening to how fast his heartbeat started to pulse but you couldn’t look at his honest face anymore and the conversation needed to end before it was all too much.
It was only building more when the next morning you were writing him a note letting him know you’d be back soon before hitching a ride back into town.
You spent the entire hour it took getting to Heeseung’s house both trying to gather the courage to go through with your idea and also trying to talk yourself out of it, reaching a peak of panic when you were knocking softly on his door.
He took a long time to open and just as you were about to turn around and leave, there he was.
Standing in the doorway that you’d seen him in close to a thousands times but looking so different that it felt brand new. He didn’t look surprised to see you on his porch and that made you feel even shittier.
“You okay?” He surprised you with the question and how genuine it sounded but you kept your face flat.
“Are you okay?” You emphasized the word and shifted uncomfortably in place until he was stepping aside and letting you in the small house. “The boys are worried about you.”
If he knew you were lying than he didn’t mention it and you took a second to glance around the living room.
Not much had changed about it besides the numerous boxes that were either still unpacked or in the process of being put back away. You didn’t want to ask him and when you met his eyes again you could tell he didn’t want to answer.
“Well I’m fine.” His answer finally came and he was biting the inside of his cheek like he was trying not to say something.
He was such a mystery to you that it was genuinely started to get under your skin. He looked at you like you’d done something so terrible to him and you had absolutely no idea what was bothering him so much, especially since he was the one who had left you.
“You’re fine?” Your voice was flat and bitter and he nodded stiffly to which you scoffed and rubbed your face in annoyance. “So you don’t want to talk about it? You don’t think we should?”
“Go talk to Sunghoon if you want someone to talk emotions with.” His gaze was fiery on you and you almost flinched away from it like it really could have burned you.
You stared at him dumbfounded for a few breaths and the air in the living room was so tense you worried the walls would collapse from it. He actually looked slightly regretful after he said it which shocked you but it didn’t really matter since it was already in your head now.
Heeseung was taking a deep breath and running a hand through his hair before looking at you one more time.
“I’ll get dressed and we can go.” You didn’t respond to him and your hurt stare was clearly making him uncomfortable. “Is that okay?”
You waited just a few more seconds before you were giving him a curt nod and covering your mouth from the shock of the entire conversation and whatever was happening between the two of you.
He was turning to walk down the hallway to his room but stopping midway and giving you a glance over his shoulder like he was making sure you hadn’t left.
Your shoulders lost all tension the second he was out of sight and you leaned against the wall to help hold you up, proud of yourself for not running out or embarrassingly tearing up again.
It was quiet for a long time and you didn’t even want to begin to imagine what was taking him so long to throw on a simple outfit but you’d begun to wander around the house while you waited, ending up in the kitchen.
“Oh y/n.”
The soft voice calling out for you had your head turning swiftly and your eyes widened when you saw his mom standing in the doorway of the kitchen.
“Ms Lee.” You sounded astonished and you hoped she wasn’t too offended by the fact you were standing in her house with your sandals still covered in sand. “I didn’t know you were home. I’m sorry to barge in.”
“Always such a sweet girl.” She waved her hands at you like you were ridiculous for apologizing for such a small thing and your heart warmed when she crossed the room to hold your face gently. “You’re friends with my son again? I’ll take that as a good sign.”
You smiled lightly and just nodded at her, not having the nerve to tell her you weren’t exactly friends and he definitely wasn’t doing as well as the hope in her voice led you to believe she thought he was.
“You were always so good for him. He worried so much about you never forgiving him for leaving but you must understand it wasn’t his fault.” Her hands were warm on your face and you felt a lot of guilt as she spoke.
You weren’t exactly sure you were supposed to be hearing this so you didn’t ask her any questions or pry.
Heeseung must’ve heard his moms voice because he looked flustered by the time he came out of his room, barely pulling his shirt over his head as he crossed into the kitchen and looked between the two of you.
“Ma, what are you doing back?” His voice sounded overly similar to how it used to as he comfortably addressed her and the difference shocked you.
“Don’t make me sound like such a bother.” She was lightly scolding him before letting go of your face and you immediately missed the warmth of her hands and gaze. “I was just telling y/n how happy I am you two are together again.”
Your eyes widened at the same time his did and your face flushed bright red at the implication that she thought you and Heeseung were dating now, along with how she apparently had thought you’d been dating beforehand too.
“Oh relax you two. I just mean together as in the same space.” She laughed and waved her hands in dismissal again but you definitely didn’t relax. “Where is he taking you?”
It took you a few seconds to realize she was addressing you and your mouth parted in silence, fumbling for an answer since you didn’t actually know where he was planning for the two of you to go.
“It’s a surprise Ma.” His voice was gentle and so was the kiss he laid on the side of her head, her eyes shutting happily as he kissed her teeth and rubbed him on his shoulder. “But we’ve gotta get going.”
She was shooing you away without another word and giving you a heavy glance that you didn’t really understand, following behind Heeseung as he led you out back through the side entrance that came out onto their driveway.
“Oh holy shit. You still have this thing?” You were curling your nose up at the sight of the old beat up pickup truck that his grandpa used to drive you all around in.
You always got the luxury of sitting on one of the other two seats inside since you were the only girl but all the boys had a blast everytime they had to pile into the bed and feel the wind drying them off as you drove home from the beaches and waterfalls.
Heeseung’s grandpa had died when you were about twelve and the truck sat in the driveway for many years until his grandma was giving him the keys for his 16th birthday, a wink and a swift warning before sending him off to pick you all up.
“I still remember you outside my house blaring on the horn.” You were smiling to yourself as you went around the front so you could climb into the passenger side, feeling the rough leather.
He was getting in a second after you and you tried your best to stare as he situated himself and cleared his throat before putting the truck into drive.
Your gaze on him made him glance your way as he was backing out but it barely lasted a blink before he was looking away.
You waited an hour before you were speaking again, spending the entire time with the windows down and the sound of the loud wind filling up whatever silence the old radio left. It was playing some tape his grandpa had left behind and his hands were tapping the steering wheel in time with it.
It felt the most like your old times with him than anything else had so far and you had to remind yourself that things were still different.
You may have taken this drive with him a dozen times but things had changed. His hand wasn’t on your knee drawing shapes and your eyes weren’t bright and filled with love as you laughed and yelled over the music together.
That picture was a lot warmer than what reality was and you glanced over at him again.
The mountains were stretching behind his side profile now that you were farther away from town than you usually went and he looked so relaxed and calm that you almost felt bad for ruining the silence.
“Are you going to tell me where we’re going anytime soon?” You were turning your body so your back was against the car door and your legs were curled into the middle seat, a few inches from the side of his thigh.
He didn’t answer you right away and you scoffed in annoyance at his audacity to just ignore you straight to your face like he hadn’t been the one to invite you here. You crossed your arms over your chest and looked away from him in upset but he was pulling onto the side of the road and parking the car before you could get really mad.
You sat there for a few seconds while he gripped the steering wheel and you took the time to glance around the area.
It was a long dirt road with a lot of thick trees and bushy areas, no other cars or parking lots in site. You were beyond confused and if it was anyone else with you then you’d even feel a little scared but despite Heeseung feeling like a stranger, he wasn’t one.
“Are you okay with walking a bit?” His voice was low when he finally spoke and you noticed he sounded similar to how he did while talking to his mom earlier, your heart tugging at how casual he was being towards you after weeks of hearing him sound so angry and empty.
“Y-yeah.” Your eyes widened at the sudden question and you felt embarrassed for stuttering even though he didn’t seem to care considering he was nodding and getting out of the truck. “Not a problem.” You mumbled to yourself before following him.
He was disappearing into the tree line and you would have been more confused if you didn’t see the faintest evidence of an old trail that had clearly been overgrown.
Heeseung was confident in his steps and every turn he took seemed like it was practiced so you quickly gathered that he knew exactly where he was and you wondered when he would have come out here enough to be this knowledgeable about it.
You were together pretty much all the time as kids and as far as you knew he hadn’t gone anywhere since coming back to town so his mystery was just growing even more to you.
You’d been walking for about twenty minutes with just the sounds of snapping sticks and the wind rustling the trees before it was opening up to reveal a small waterfall and a pond amongst the trees.
The bank was completely made up of rocks and fallen tree logs, something completely different than the sandy shores you were used to. You could tell right away this wasn’t a place for swimming but you just kept following him as he hopped onto the large boulders before eventually sitting on one.
You watched the side of his face as you waited for him to explain and he just watched the view with a slightly pained expression.
“Can you… can you not look at me.” His first words hit you hard and you flinched at the rough tone he’d taken on again. “Please it just will make this easier.”
Although confused, you nodded and opted for instead staring at the way your feet were dangling over the open water. Your thighs were burning from the rough edge of the boulder and the height you were sat at was slightly intimidating but you willed yourself to not look at him no matter how much you wanted to.
“I came here the day that I left. Stole the truck and ran out of the house even though my mom was practically tripping over herself in the driveway trying to get me to stop. I think she thought if I went I wouldn’t come back.” He took a break for you to process what he was telling you and the last sentence hit you hard.
You knew he loved his mom and hearing about her fear and what actually went down the day they moved away was almost too much and you considered asking him to stop talking.
Instead you clenched your hand onto the cold boulders surface and waited for him to keep going.
“It was a world of things that don’t matter anymore, never fucking matter but I need you to understand how much I regret it.” You could feel him looking at you now.
“I should have said goodbye to you and I should’ve answered your letters but I knew I’d come back the second I heard a single word from you and I couldn’t leave her alone. She needed me and I figured you’d be okay with the others. You’d hate me but you’d be okay.”
His voice was getting shakier and you couldn’t resist looking at him anymore although he didn’t look upset that you had done so, his hand stretching the distance between you so he could grip your hand that was practically clawing at the stone.
You squeezed his warm hand tight in yours as you sniffled and the tears built up quickly when you saw how nervous he looked.
“And I’m so fucking sorry for what I did to you at Sunghoon’s.” He grit his teeth as he said it like it pained him to remember and your stomach turned uncomfortably, almost feeling sick at the memory of how shut off he had been now. Especially comparing it to the way he was looking at you now. “I was angry at myself and took it out on you. It was fucking disgusting.”
A sob hit you at that and you don’t know if him scooting closer made you feel better or worse but you leaned into him anyways and felt your heart calm at the way he wrapped his arms around you.
“Y/n I don’t regret it okay? Just the way that it happened but you know… I-I hope you know that I’ve always-“ He sighed and stopped talking like he couldn’t find the words and you wiped your face quickly.
You leaned away from him just enough to get a good look at his face and he looked panicked like he didn’t know how you were going to respond.
“You’re not high right now right?”
His face fell in hurt at your question before it was turning into understanding and guilty, the shake of his head not doing nearly enough to lessen your worries which he quickly seemed to notice because he was leaning closer and making sure you could see him when he spoke.
“I’m not high I promise you. I haven’t been since that night on the beach.” He sounded genuine and you would have believed him before but you didn’t know him now and he easily could’ve been lying to you. “How can I help you know that?”
The desperation in his question and expression made him look so much younger and another sob hit you as you started to see him for who he was.
Not some corpse like imposter who had moved back to town and taken the identity of your old friend and lover but just a lost and confused Heeseung who had clearly gone through something you didn’t understand yet.
So when you kissed him it wasn’t for any other reason this time, it wasn’t because you just wanted to feel that he was actually there or because you thought there was no other way to be close to him again but it was because you wanted him to know that you believed him and you were patient.
You’d been patient and you’d continue to be because Sunghoon had been right when he said you always loved Heeseung and you’d constantly choose him.
Something in you told you that this time he’d do his best to choose you too, his hands holding your face so gently and his thumbs swiping soothingly over your cheeks to rid you of the constant stream of tears despite his own wetting his face too.
You weren’t even really sure what you were crying for.
If it was for the pain he’d put you through or the pain he was dealing with himself. Maybe it was because of the lost time and the years you could’ve spent together or the relief at not having to experience his absence again, something beautiful in the way you were holding each other and sharing the grief of what could have been.
You could only hope that what will be would be worth every tear in the end.

falling in love at first sight (x3)
a/n: so i woke up in cold sweat and i had to write this. there's like 30k i could've written about this but tbh, i needed to get this out lol. also taesan has been living in my head rent free so this is his eviction notice. quick note: feedback, comments, etc. GREATLY encourage writers! if you felt any sort of way (in a good or bad way!) about this fic, pls leave feedback!
word count: 6.3k
tags: college au!, basketballplayer!taesan x nurse!y/n, honestly it's just a fluff piece, idiots in love, dongmin is DOWN BAD and falls in love with the same girl 3 times, uhh y/n is a feisty nurse warnings: taesan is called dongmin, uhh alcohol + memory loss involved with getting shitfaced lol
HAN DONGMIN DIDN'T REALLY BELIEVE IN SUPERSTITIONS. to him, things like 'knocking on wood' or 'not opening an umbrella inside' were just old wives' tales that didn't have much substance to them.
but after dongmin had shattered his bedroom mirror this morning (he'd accidentally launched his alarm clock across the room after sleeping too late last night), nearly every single thing in his life had gone wrong.
he'd put expired milk in his cereal because kim donghyun (his roommate) hadn't switched out the milk like he'd promised to the day before. then he went to take a shower, only to be burned by scalding hot water since the landlord refused to change the heating system, even though they'd been suffering through the sticky heat of august for fifteen days already. as if all of that wasn't enough, he'd accidentally torn his favorite hoodie trying to clean up the fragments that'd fallen on the floor. and when he was trying to salvage his hoodie, he scraped his forearm against the fragments, meaning he had a nasty gash along the long side of it.
which meant he'd have to go to the hospital to take care of this stupid bloody mess instead of going to class.
that was how han dongmin found himself sitting in the waiting room of the urgent care center of the hospital, a shoddy rag wrapped around his forearm, his essentials hoodie covered in blood, expired milk, and mirror dust.
needless to say, dongmin had gotten more than a few strange looks from the other people in the waiting room in the last four minutes he'd been there.
"han dongmin!" the receptionist calls out, and dongmin launches himself out of his chair, impatient to get this over with as soon as possible.
something about hospitals just gave dongmin the heebie jeebies. the fluorescent lighting, the smell of rubbing alcohol, the tangible feeling of sickness that wafted through the air.
ugh. dongmin hated hospitals. in fact, he was so sure that he would never even step foot in a hospital after this. if he needed to wrap himself in bubble wrap to do so, then so be it because he hated hospitals and he would never come ba -
dongmin stops dead in his tracks, right next to the recovery bed that the receptionist had led him to. standing in front of him was the most gorgeous person he'd ever seen in his life.
you were smiling at something the patient in front of you was saying, leaning over to bandage the patient's scrape with a little bandaid that had cartoon ryans all over it.
fuck that.
dongmin was ready to break his leg if it meant that he got to stay in the hospital and stare at your beautiful face all day. before he could find something big and heavy to knock his leg into, however, you make your way over to dongmin, clipboard and first aid kit in hand.
"hello," you say with a soft smile. "my name is y/n l/n and i'll be taking care of you today. is there anything i can help you with?"
"will you go out with me?" the words escape dongmin's mouth before he can even process what he's saying and you immediately lean backwards, a disproving wrinkle between your eyebrows.
"excuse me?" you say, and it's clear that dongmin's not gonna be in your good graces if he hits on you. he really hoped you were like this with everyone and not that you just found him super unattractive or anything (donghyun swore up and down that dongmin was not ugly - especially now that he'd dyed his hair! but donghyun also never had to chase after a girl in his life so...). or worse, if you already had a boyfriend.
but before he can ruminate about your affronted stance too deeply, dongmin rushes to fix his mistake. "i mean, hospitals really freak me out. the ethanol smell and the lighting and everything kinda gets in my head, you know what i mean? do you think you could just slap some gauze on outside?"
the tension in your shoulders immediately relaxes and you take a step forward once more, setting the first aid kit down next to dongmin.
"oh yeah, that makes sense," you say, sounding relieved. "unfortunately, i can only provide care while inside the hospital to make sure that the instruments and gauze are sterile to prevent any contamination. i promise i'll be as quick as possible so i can get you out of here!" you explain, a slight pout tugging your lips down in the most adorable way as you seem genuinely sorry for dongmin.
it was official: han dongmin was in love.
"no, don't worry. take your time. i mean, the cut is pretty bad and i don't wanna leave any mirror guts in it," dongmin says. as quick as possible, my ass, he thinks to himself. i gotta find a way to make this last for as long as i can.
"of course!" you assure, before looking down at the clipboard. "so i assume you cut yourself on a broken mirror? does it hurt when you apply pressure?"
what was the answer that would keep you here longer?
"yes?"
"are you asking me or telling me?"
"telling?"
"very convincing. i'm gonna need to apply pressure and confirm for myself then, if that's alright with you?" you look at him in a way that seems to be somewhat apprehensive and dongmin has never wanted to reverse time more than in this very instant.
until he doesn't because your hands are on his forearm, examining the wound gently and applying pressure around the open gash.
"does it hurt when i do this?" you ask, eyes trained on the way that his forearm muscles ripple and move as you apply pressure in different places.
dongmin's not the most buff guy on the planet, and you checking out his muscles was definitely not for your own pleasure, but at least all of his time on the court and in the gym has paid off in some way.
"uh...no. not unless you're super close to the cut," dongmin says and you nod with a gentle smile. it's in that moment that dongmin decides that he would kill anyone and anything just to see you smile like that again,
"that's good to hear. well, i guess that all we need to do is 'slap some gauze on' after disinfecting the wound and making sure we don't have any 'mirror guts' in it," you say, a hint of cheekiness in your tone. dongmin doesn't know what it is about it but it makes him blush, regardless.
"yeah. that sounds good," he says dreamily, trying hard to compose himself once more when you flash him a questioning look.
you work carefully on his arm, making sure to give a tiny little stress ball to dongmin to use when you descend upon his wound with some antibacterial medicine and rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball.
"so, uh, you look pretty young for a doctor...?" dongmin says, trying very hard to focus his attention on you instead of the stinging pain that came with every touch of the cotton ball on his wound. the more he looked at you, the more he began to wonder if he'd seen you somewhere before.
dongmin wasn't the superstitious type, and didn't exactly believe in 'love at first sight', but no matter how much he thought about it, he couldn't place you anywhere in his memory.
"that might be because 'm not a doctor," you say somewhat distractedly. "i'm a nursing student."
"oh. oh! you're a nursing student?" he asks. student. that means that you were either his age or just a few years older than him. and it also probably meant that you were a student at a university near by - maybe his?
"yep. a second year. although, don't worry, i've completed all of my first aid clinicals last year itself," you explain, leaning back in satisfaction when you finish cleaning up the wound.
"my school has a pretty famous nursing program, you know. maybe you've heard of yonsei's nursing program?" dongmin asks, eyes shining with hope.
it's only then that you look up at dongmin with an excited look in your eyes, turning to throw away the used cotton balls.
"i go to yonsei as well! i'm just starting my second year. it's a little strange because the nursing program runs through the summer, which is why i'm working clinicals right now. i'm almost done though, so i'll be switching into a field i'm more interested in," you say and dongmin swears he hears wedding bells in his mind. beautiful, kind, intelligent, and the same age as him? it was like god was basically handing his soulmate to him on a platter. maybe love at first sight was real after all.
"me too! well, i'm not a nursing major, but i'm a second year electrical engineering major," dongmin says, watching you turn back towards him with a clipboard.
"mhm, well, i've gotta tell you to be careful for the next week or so. no heavy lifting, sports, and definitely no cutting things. we don't want to make the wound worse, now do we?" you say chidingly, scribbling instructions on the clipboard of how to clean the wound with rubbing alcohol and how many pills of ibuprofen to take per day.
"of course," dongmin says half-heartedly. as much as dongmin hated the feeling of pain, the was the only way that he could think of to get to see you again was to somehow hurt himself again.
"how about you come back in a week to just make sure that it closed up well? make sure it didn't get infected or anything?" you ask, handing him the sheet of paper.
god was real.
dongmin swore he was going to go to church and donate at least 10,000 won for the blessing after blessing he was receiving today.
"oh sure," he says, a mischievous thought popping into his head. "but is it ok if i find you on campus? i have a lot of labs over the next week and i can't miss them if i can't even participate in them, so i can at least get the information. i won't really have time to stop by the hospital," dongmin says carefully, watching your expression to ensure that it wasn't changing with every word that escaped your lips.
technically, it wasn't a lie. dongmin did have a lot of labs next week but that's definitely not why he wouldn't have time to stop by the hospital.
"i don't see why not. i don't need any sterile instruments to just check quickly, so that shouldn't be an issue," you say slowly, nodding to yourself as you look around the little station to make sure you wouldn't need any of the equipment.
"perfect," dongmin says, shuffling out of the bed that he was sitting in to leave before turning around nonchalantly. "do you think i could get your number? so i know where to find you?"
you look up at him, and dongmin tries his best to seem sincere and genuine rather than as calculating as he felt, trying every tactic possible to see you again.
"yeah. yeah, here let me type it into your phone."
he hands his phone over to you, and it takes every single fiber of his being to keep himself from looking excited about any part of this transaction. you were already suspicious enough of him; you definitely didn't need more reasons to add to the list.
you're frowning slightly when you hand the phone back to him so dongmin pockets it without a second thought, to prove that he wasn't trying to be weird.
"thank you so much again." dongmin waves as he leaves, flashing the award-winning smile that he usually reserves for aunties and restaurant owners for free sides. oh, and for his fans.
you don't blush and trip over yourself when he does like his fans do - although you offer him a soft smile in return.
although, dongmin muses, i guess it would be weird if a nurse who met me for the first time would be anything like a college basketball star's fan though. maybe.
he shakes his head, opening the door to the hospital, looking down at his arm wrapped in gauze. yeah. there was no way that dongmin was taking a break from basketball. season started in less than three weeks and as yonsei's point guard, he had no choice but to just power through the injury.
it might work out in his favor after all. at least it would give him more chances to see you.
+++
turns out, the universe gives him a chance less than two days after he sees you for the first time. and in any other case, dongmin would be incredibly excited to see you again. he'd probably be ready, waiting with freshly showered hair and clean clothes and nice smelling cologne.
instead, when he sees you again, he's wearing raggedy shorts, a stained shirt, and holding a basketball that he definitely should not be holding.
dongmin knew he was fucked the moment you walked in through the double doors that opened up to the indoor basketball court of yonsei, light spilling in from the outdoors, along with the chatter and excitement of students returning to university.
you walk in wearing white, along with six other people dressed similarly, the basketball team's physician (dr. moon taeil) at the head of them all. dongmin hopes that you don't recognize him - or at least don't see him actively playing but of course, you manage to turn your head to see dongmin throw the ball out of his hands in a random direction in panic.
the ball, then of course, managed to fall neatly through the hoop, as though dongmin had intentionally thrown it there, causing him to want to die on the spot.
so he couldn't do that during a game with korea university, but now that he was doing everything in his power to keep you from seeing him play basketball, now he manages to throw it in the one place it shouldn't go.
your eyes narrow when dongmin turns to face you, your gaze falling to his (poorly) wrapped forearm. he offers you a trembling grin, which slowly turns into a frown when you look away, shaking your head as you start talking to the girl next to you.
at least you wouldn't say anything to coach about how he wasn't supposed to be playing right now, dongmin thinks to himself. even if i've effectively ruined my chances of her ever believing me about anything ever again. uh. not that i've had more than one conversation with her. or might have more in the future.
dongmin shivers, jogging over to where the basketball had fallen to pick it up and return to his place at the three-point line and continue shooting practice.
he returns to where he's supposed to be practicing, so that his back is facing the group of people who'd entered - namely, you.
"i forgot coach mentioned that we've got new on-site medical staff," dongmin mutters to himself, dribbling the ball before lining up his shot. "i didn't know that she'd be a part of that though - she can't be the sporty type if she didn't recognize me from the hospital."
dongmin is so lost in his thoughts that he doesn't even feel the dark presence looming over him until the ball is released from his hand.
"HAN DONGMIN!" someone yells, right next to his ear, and dongmin scrambles to attention, wincing when the basketball bounces off the rim and into the cart of basketballs he was practicing with with a resounding clang!
he turns slowly, eyes closed, as if that would make you go away.
"i cannot believe that i bandaged you up so carefully just for you to start playing again! how could you be so careless? do you not want to be able to play during the season? you're yonsei's ace and you're being this irresponsible!" you're heaving by the end of your rant and dongmin blinks, trying to come up with a response.
you definitely didn't know him well enough to yell at him like this - much less in front of all of his teammates - but for some reason, that's not what stuck out to dongmin.
(much to his chagrin, you being angry was hot. like really hot. especially since he'd thought you'd be the soft and cozy type, not the impulsive and quick to anger type. he really liked this side of you.)
"you know who i am?" he asks slowly.
"OF COURSE I KNOW WHO YOU ARE! OH, YOU ARE GETTING ON MY NERVES. YOU ASS, I DIDN'T BANDAGE YOU UP THAT NEATLY FOR YOU TO BE WALKING AROUND SHOOTING THREES!"
you're yelling at him, and for some reason, dongmin has never wanted to kiss someone more in his life. he'd never though he'd be this attracted to someone that he's just met yelling at him, much less in front of his entire team and her own entire team. but for some reason, as dongmin looks at you waving your hands all crazy and annoyed, all he can think about it how much he likes you.
it wasn't just physical. of course, he thought you were beautiful - possibly the most beautiful person he'd ever seen in his life and he would die on that hill - but it was more than that. it was as though he'd genuinely fallen in love at first sight.
you could tell him that you were a serial killer and at this point, dongmin would just admire your bloodlust.
"uh. dongmin?" coach jung says behind him, hands crossed over his chest. "do you guys need a moment to step out and come back?"
even coach jung seems a little bit intimidated by your livid state of being and dongmin has to cough to cover up his life.
"no coach. we're done here," you say, turning dramatically on your heel to turn back to your friends. but dongmin moves quicker than even his own mind can process what happens.
before he can think, his hand is wrapped around your wrist, spinning you closer to him, almost as if the two of you were ballroom dancing.
you look up at him, shocked, but dongmin is slow to let go of your wrist, not wanting to lose contact with you.
"no, we need just a moment," dongmin says, his eyes never leaving your own. it's clear that you neither expected this nor were used to this kind of behavior from anyone and before the fight that's building inside of you bubbles out, dongmin tilts his head toward the door that leads to a hallway extending to the equipment room, practically begging you with his eyes.
you aqcuiesce - or at least, dongmin thinks you do - from the way that your shoulder melt just the slightest and you let him pull you into the hallway.
"what?" you snap the second the door shuts behind the two of you. "okay, maybe i didn't let on that i knew you from our encounter, but that's irrelevant. i didn't need to tell you that i knew you. and besides, as your healthcare provider, it would have been extremely irresponsible on my end for me to let slip that i'm a fan - or that i know you personally at all."
dongmin can't help but let a small smile slip. "personally? we know each other personally?"
you fluster in that moment, looking anywhere but at dongmin, bringing a large smile to his face. he'd never thought that the feisty, quick to temper and quick to lose it, loud type was his type but he was starting to enjoy it very much.
"alright, well i know you personally enough, alright?" you huff, crossing your arms over your chest. "we've met before."
now it's dongmin's turn to look flustered, as he wracks his brain, trying to come up when or where the two of you have met before. he wasn't the one-night-stand type, so that couldn't be it. he also didn't have an insane amount of friends outside of the basketball team and donghyun's friends, so that wasn't it either.
"i'm really sorry - and i'm definitely trying to hit on you, just not right now - but i don't remember. i'd definitely remember someone like you," dongmin says, and he's well aware of the fact that his tone does not sound any level of displeased, and rather dreamy.
you roll your eyes, looking down at the ground. "we kissed once. twice actually. but um. that's not my point."
you clear your throat, as if you hadn't just dropped the biggest bomb of the century on dongmin, shaking your head. "why the hell are you playing basketball on an injured arm anyway? i specifically said no sports!"
dongmin raises an eyebrow. "you say you're my fan and yet you're still asking me why i'm playing when we have our first game in a week. and hold on. i'm not letting go of that first part; we've kissed? twice?"
you shrug, but it's clear that you don't think of it as nonchalantly as you're trying to make it sound when you speak. "yeah. in freshman year. once in spring semester and then once in fall. it's not a big deal. to you at least. clearly you kiss a lot of girls, if you don't even remember us kissing at all."
"now that's not fair," dongmin pouts, but he's well aware that he's not conveying this well at all. suddenly, a flash of a girl wearing a red dress, looking up at him with big eyes and a pouty lips crosses his mind.
good god. were - were you dongmin's mystery girl?
+++
"what do you mean dongmin finally found his mystery girl? the one he's been crushing on for a full year?" myung jaehyun says incredulously, instantly pulling out his phone to look you up on instagram.
dongmin sits in the middle of his friends, all sitting at the same table as they were supposed to be eating lunch, his head resting in his hands.
"you mean the one that he swore was the love of his life? god, he wouldn't shut up about that for at least six months," lee sanghyuk says, shoveling noodles in his mouth.
"try a year," donghyun groans, rubbing his forehead in pain. "do you remember the state of this kid when he woke up the next day?"
"good god, it was horrible. all he could say for a full week was that he wanted to jump out of the window because he'd lost her number and that he was never going to find true love because he couldn't remember her name, number, or even what she looked like," sanghyuck adds.
park sungho, the newest addition to their friend group, blinks, looking at dongmin, who's head is still in his hands.
"you were down bad, man," he muses and jaehyun on the side of him snorts.
"down bad doesn't even begin to describe it. it got to the point where we had 'girl in the red dress' and 'true love' jars because he would talk about her." jaehyun sighed, looking at dongmin pointedly. "he'd put enough money that we'd bought alc for the rest of freshman year. just in spring semester."
"that's what you get for trying to prove that you could drink a 4lokos without getting shitfaced," donghyun says, nose crinkling as he recalled the hours he had to spend making sure that dongmin wasn't going to die by choking on his own spit. "and he went and did it twice. it took us months to get to the point where we could invite this guy anywhere so as long as he swore not to bring her up again."
dongmin looks up, almost excitedly. "do you think that if i drink another 4lokos, we'll kiss at another party?"
sungho leans over, smacking him upside the head. "you're so fucking dumb. and i can tell just by these stories. you're not allowed to drink until season's over, idiot. and she's on your medical team. why don't you start by making a good impression while you're not so drunk you're going to start insisting that spongebob is hydrophobic."
("you were there when that happened?")
("you idiot, you thought i was spongebob. you kept throwing my drinks away because you thought i was going to disappear into them if i drank them. which makes no sense because that's not what hydrophobic means.")
("oh. sorry man.")
"yeah. just go to the med clinic tomorrow, apologize to her, and bring her flowers or something. women eat that shit up!" sanghyuk says with a mouthful of noodles and jaehyun nods, pointing his chopsticks at him excitedly.
"they do! my girlfriend always feels better with food and flowers," he says, cheeks stuffed to the brim with carbonara.
dongmin's mind races with all of the implications of doing so, but every single one of his thoughts fade away in light of the fact that he could redeem himself in your eyes. he slams his hands down on the table, swinging his legs over the bench to run to the nearest flower shop.
"i'll be back before practice!" dongmin calls out over his shoulder, waving a quick goodbye as he sprints towards the florists.
he makes it to the edge of the courtyard before he hears the yelling of his friends behind him, turning to see them waving at him (and waving some very rude fingers at him).
"YOU FORGOT YOUR WALLET, YOU IDIOT!"
+++
dongmin's friends were useless. absolutely useless.
he'd went and bought the prettiest bouquet of flowers he could find, a nice meal from his favorite bento place, and had even bought three different types of ice cream bars because he didn't know which one you'd like.
he'd walked right into the medical clinic office, his apology gifts all in hand, ready to apologize to you, redeem his honor, and become your own true love.
the last part probably wasn't going to work anyway, but the first two should've been foolproof.
instead, he manages to prove that he was a fool.
as it turns out, he wasn't the only person who thought that the flowers were beautiful; dongmin had managed to bring the queen bee as a secret surprise in the bouquet, which meant that the rest of her hive was NOT very happy that he'd committed royal kidnap, as far as the bees were concerned.
"HAN DONGMIN WHEN I GET MY HANDS ON YOU!" you yell from underneath your desk, where you were hiding from the sudden swarm of bees that had followed dongmin in.
he doesn't respond, too busy opening the window to drop the flowers out of, hesitating when he sees the number of people that were lounging around the courtyard that the medical office looked out of.
dongmin lines up the bouquet, sending a prayer to god (any one that would listen) as he shoots the best three he's ever shot in his life, so that the bouquet (and all of the bees that accompanied it) landed far away enough from people to prevent them from getting hurt.
of course, a few brave souls had stayed behind to exact revenge for their queen on dongmin, resulting in upwards of five bee stings, before dongmin finally evaded the great medical bee disaster once and for all.
he turns sheepishly, scratching the back of his head.
"i don't suppose i could find medical care in this clinic, could i?" he says, and he's well aware of the fact that he's flushed bright red, as he always seems to when he's made a fool of himself.
thankfully, there are only four or five people, including you, in the office to witness this disaster - although, dongmin can see the girl you were talking to yesterday surpressing a smile.
"yeah, of course you could. but we're all headed on break so unfortunately, y/n is the only person who's gonna be able to give you medical care. you know, since you've already brought lunch for her," your friend says with a knowing grin. she ushers the rest of the medical staff out of the office, closing the door behind her with a telltale click.
"you can come out from under the desk now," dongmin says, and despite the situation, he finds it adorable that in the case of a bee swarm, your first instinct had been to hide underneath a desk.
"i was going to," you grumble, slinking out from your hiding spot and dusting off invisible dust from your pants. "what were you thinking, bringing flowers with bees in them?"
dongmin blushes, tilting his head as he tries to look anywhere but where you were. "i wanted to apologize to you. in my defense, i kinda always thought bees were made up. i mean, they're so fat! there's no way they should be able to fly. that directly violates like every law of aviation in the world."
your eyebrow quirks upward as you look at the ice cream and lunch he had set down on your desk in his bee-induced panic. "i can't believe you're quoting the bee movie at me right now."
"i can't believe you know i'm quoting the bee movie. i should've known the love of my life was an internet connoiseur," dongmin says with a sigh, examining the bee stings on his arm. how did these bees even manage to crawl underneath the sleeves of his shirt?
"excuse me?" you bark, hands on your hips. "did you just call me the love of your life? when you couldn't even remember who i was like yesterday?"
"okay, wait. you don't understand. first, i need you to help me out by getting some ointment on these stings because they're starting to burn and i don't know if that's so normal. and then, i'll explain everything, trust me."
you reluctantly reach back into a cabinet that reads 'insect stings' and grab the kit for bee stings, pulling a cream out of it, beckoning dongmin to come closer so that you could treat it.
"do you remember what happened that night? or those two nights, i guess?" you ask softly, eyes trained on dongmin's arm so that you don't have to look him in the eyes and he nods.
"i remember. well, as much as i can, anyway. i was blackout drunk both times. and from what i remember, you weren't exactly sober either, so i don't know how you remember me but trust me, whatever you think about me is not true. i was - i was so down bad that my friends had to make a 'no y/n' jar!" dongmin yelps the last part when your hand on his arm presses a little too hard.
"i'm sorry! sorry!" you gasp, immediately leaning over to blow cool air on the place you'd accidentally put too much pressure. "what do you mean by a no 'no y/n' jar though? i thought you didn't remember my name."
"i didn't! and it killed me! i don't remember exactly what happened those nights but i remember how much i liked you. i remember thinking that i'd never meet a girl like you in my life. it still frustrates me that i lost your number - although, i do remember the part where you smacked me over the head the second time that we met. i think i suffered permanent brain damage from that.
"but i remember glimpses of that night. like that red dress you were wearing and how much you were rambling about stars. you were giving me an in-depth explanation about how black holes work and something about how rockets look like they're stuck in time in black holes. not the point. but the point is that i genuinely fell in love with you that first night we met.
"i've got this horrid habit though, when i get drunk - i become either super scared of water, or super infatuated with it. it's honestly a coin-toss. so imagine my feeling the next morning when i wake up with a dissolved piece of paper in my pocket that's supposed to have your number on it, semi-wet clothes, and a raging migraine.
"i thought i met the love of my life and i couldn't even remember her name, number, or even her face. it drove me and my friends absolutely nuts. me because i didn't know how to find you when i couldn't remember anything. my friends went insane because i would talk about you so much that they bought me those swear jars for every time i mentioned you.
"of course, i didn't know your name so you were just 'the love of my life' or 'girl in the red dress' but i think i dumped at least 300,000 won in those jars by the end of the semester. and then as if the universe was out to make my life living hell, we met again and i was shitfaced again. i swore to never touch a 4lokos after that, if that's any level of redemption.
"anyway. i brought you flowers and all this stuff because i wanted to tell you that - that i've liked you for a lot longer than even i've known! i remember most of the conversations that we had, even if i couldn't remember exactly who you were. when i saw you at the hospital, i genuinely thought i was falling in love at first sight. but i guess, that's kinda not true. cause that would be my third time falling in love at first sight."
"why, though? three times? i mean, i don't think i'm ugly or anything but three times? yeah, i mean i guess i kinda also had a thing for you after those two nights. god. i wish i remembered what we talked about for us to get this attached," you say, mumbling the last part. dongmin turns to you somewhat confused, watching you as you open up the bento box he'd bought you.
"you don't remember what we talked about? besides the black holes and stuff?"
"nope. but i've also got a horrible reputation amongst my friends for how much i talked about you. the worst part is that i remembered you but not what we talked about. it was so stupid because no one believed me that han dongmin, yonsei's point guard was the guy i'd had my heart for the past year." you instinctively smile the moment you take a bite of the food and even though it's so small, dongmin's heart swells with pride.
"why didn't you ever come up to me? i mean, this whole year of pining could've been avoided if you'd talked to me," dongmin says, accepting the ice cream bar you handed him. how the hell did you know that was his favorite ice cream?
"i gave you my number once, and i kissed you twice. i figured you were just ghosting me at some point if you weren't going to reach out to me. and besides, nursing really picked up right after basketball season so...i kinda just ended up torturing my friends for the past year," you say, somewhat sheepishly, but dongmin is barely even listening anymore.
after all, how many people can say that they fell in love at first sight with the same person three times?
"well. we're here now. will you go out with me? i promise i won't even touch a 4lokos!"
"deal. as long as you promise to tell me everything we talked about that night. i still can't tell why i fell so hard for you that i chased you down a basketball court in front of your whole team."
"my stellar looks? my killer smile? my stupidly handsome personality? my superb basketball skills?"
"try your stupid attraction to water molecules."
"i have a feeling i shouldn't have told you about that."
+++
freshman year, spring semester.
"really? you've never fallen in love before?" you ask incredulously. you and dongmin are sitting on the balcony of some random friend who decided to throw a party, feet dangling over the edges in between the bars.
"nah. i don't think so," dongmin says, leaning backwards on his palms. "i don't think i've ever met someone who's ever made me feel like my entire heart is their's to do whatever they want to do with."
"then let's play this game," you say, clumsily pulling out your phone. "that one thing on new york times, where you fall in love with someone within 36 questions."
"why? you want me to fall in love with you?" dongmin says, leaning over with a cheeky smile. you push him playfully, focused on trying to pull up the questions list.
"you'd do that whether i told you to or not," you fire back. "and besides, i think i'm a fantastic kisser. so you're probably already in love."
"you're right," dongmin says with a sigh. "i think i am."
freshman year, fall semester.
"question 36. i can't believe we never finished all the questions last time," you say. this time the two of you are sitting so close, dongmin can still taste the watermelon chapstick you're wearing. at this point though, dongmin might as well be the one wearing it.
"to be fair, last time i think we were otherwise preoccupied."
"get your mind out of the gutter!"
"i was talking about how many times you kept getting distracted by the dog."
"anyway. we're on question 36; are you in love with me yet?"
"i should be asking you that. i've been in love."
"han dongmin! i thought you weren't the superstitious type?"
"i'll be whatever you want me to be."

Hi I love you coworker! James series feel free to ignore if you don’t like this idea but what if Remus convinced reader to go to a karaoke bar with them and she gets a little tipsy and signs her heart out and James is just heart eyes over it
thanks for requesting <3 fem!reader
“What is that?” James asks, genuinely scornful as he points at you where you’re leaning on the bar. “Is that another margarita? Jesus Christ.”
“You should be enjoying this.” Sirius smiles around the lip of his beer.
“Why would I enjoy this?”
“She’s coming out of her shell, isn’t she? You’re always calling her a priss.”
“She is a priss, but binge drinking isn’t the same as extroversion.”
Sirius taps their beers together. “And what are you doing tonight, James?”
James scowls as you collect your new drink. You’ve had four or five by now and they’ve more than started to affect you, your giggling endless, your hand wrapped around the crook of Remus’ arm for balance.
“Remus! It’s your turn, hun, get up here!” your general manager calls from the stage, a mic in her hand.
“Me!” you shout suddenly, to James’ shock and Sirius’ bright laughter. “Remus, please let me have your turn, please! I know exactly what song I want to sing.”
Remus, who’d convinced you to come through a lot of pleading and a promise that you won’t have to sing at all if you weren’t ready, looks at you like you’ve grown horns. “Are you sure?”
“Yes? Can I please?”
You take his arm into your hand and you look at him with widened eyes, thumb rubbing a line that James zeroes in on, doesn’t mean to, can’t believe he’s noticed at all. He’s irked you’d even look at Remus that way.
Because you’re annoying. Yes. Very annoying.
You drink a good half of your Margarita and ask Remus to hold it for you before you take the steps onto the stage and chat with your general manager about what song you want to sing. You put your hands on the mic stand and prepare yourself with eyebrows pinched together, determined, even though you look a little shaky at the same time. Sirius nudges James from behind, the two of them joining Remus in the small crowd of your coworkers as the music starts.
There are two screens for lyrics. A huge one for you, a smaller for everyone else beside you. You clutch the mic and stare resolutely at the bigger one as the melody becomes recognisable. James watches in what he thought would be smugness, but instead lays somewhere between awe and mild horror as you begin to sing.
The song is Brandy (You’re a Fine Girl) by Big Head Todd & The Monsters. James loves this song, he sings it every time he has to drive Remus to cornwall. He knows every word back to front and he likes how you seem to like it too, even if you’re butchering it, and the drunken slur to your words is ridiculous. You know the chorus well enough and sing it with a beaming smile. James maybe doesn’t like you, but it’s hard not to smile when someone else is happy like that.
“Don’t make fun of her, James! Please don’t, she’s trying her best,” Remus says at his smiling. “And she won’t come again.”
“I’m not,” he says, not bothering to look away from you.
Your eyes scan faces and get caught on his. He can feel the moment you realise he’s watching too, see your slight falter, and then, magically, your excitement. “James! It’s Brandy! You love this song!”
Sirius snickers at his expression. “Mate,” he says quietly, “I thought you didn’t like her?”
“I don’t.”
You stumble a little where you’re standing and James has to stand extremely still so as to prevent his hands from reaching out for you. “James, I didn’t take your favourite song, okay? You have to sing Don’t Stop Believin’! Oh, shit–” You don’t realise your cue to sing the chorus until it’s halfway through, but when you do find the right words, you’re extremely passionate.
“She sounds like Melly coughing up a hairball,” James says, wrinkling his nose.
An emotion far from disgust settles hot at the base of his neck.
“She looks cute,” Remus says.
“Sure, if you’re blind. And deaf.”
“Well,” Sirius says, “you do wear glasses.”

advent calendar - day nineteen
You're pretty sure Simon and Johnny hate you. Pretty sure.
royalty!simon/concubine!johnny/commoner!reader
a/n; this would've been out earlier but i was busy thinking abt how markiplier and trixie are only a month and some change apart age wise. you're telling me trixie lived in a trailer the same time mark lived in a grass field?!??! (part one here)
You've been mastering the art of ignoring a lot of people.
Three months ago, royal guards had come to your home and forcibly removed you and all your belongings from your parent's home. You've been living in the castle ever since, trying to stay under the radar with surprising success.
The most you've done is say a meek hello to the maids that attended to the room you've been living in.
You took walks around the gardens, lingered in the kitchens during mealtimes, and scurried into hallways when anyone other than the servants came remotely close by you.
You've been very careful specifically about avoiding Simon and Johnny. You were terrified to think about them- surely, they resented you for inadvertently coming between their carefully constructed romance, their own bubble. You were running out of time, and rapidly, too- the wedding was next month and you've been feeling its looming presence for ages now. The maids have become more sparse as they're sent around the castle to clean up for a month of festivities despite the king's passing, and you've been interrupted in your daily routine regularly now. Perfumed paths, hair cuts, eyebrow plucking and people trying to figure out what makes you look the most youthful. It leaves you drained and you spend more time in your room as a consequence.
The exhaustion of the constant pampering is making you sloppy, though.
While walking after a long, bubbling hot bath in your rooms, you stumble upon Simon and Johnny. Again. Same spot, same position. The mortifying thing is that you didn't even notice them until you were halfway into the nook, expecting them to be empty the way they had all the months prior. You blink in surprise as Johnny looks confused and then quickly grins at you.
"Bonnie!" He says happily, and your heart aches. He should hate you- you're going to be taking Simon away from him, in a sense. You don't doubt that after the coronation, everything will go back to the way it was and you'll continue with your lonely existence.
"Hi," you say shyly, not daring to make eye contact with either of them, sorely missing the way Simon's expression softens.
"Come sit with us, hen," Johnny tries, making Simon move his bulky frame to the right more, making space for you on the marble bench.
"It's OK. I'll be off now." You say, your body already drifting away, expecting to be left alone-
-but Johnny catches your wrist with the gentleness one reserves for scared baby birds without their moms. His grin is softer around the edges now, but you don't chance to glance up at his eyes.
"Please? Y'r getting married to Si in a month, after all, don't you wanna get to know us a little better? C'mon, hen." He says, stroking circles on the inside of your wrist with his thumb.
"Um," you teeter along the edge of baulking and running the opposite edge before nodding clumsily. "Okay." You say, finding yourself sorely unused to socialising with anyone after nearly four months of isolation.
"There's a good pet," Simon rumbles, and you look up, spooked at his voice. It occurs to you that you've never heard him speak before. Your cheeks feel heated and you duck your head, before Johnny laughs, bright like sunshine.
"Aye. A real good pet."

The Weight Of Love And Loss - Part Six
Alexia Putellas x Reader - Part One Two Three Four Five Seven Eight Last Part
It had been a week since Alexia’s long-awaited return to the pitch. The roar of the crowd, the adrenaline coursing through her veins, the sheer joy of being back in her element—it all reminded her of who she was before the injury, before the pain, before everything fell apart. But after the final whistle, when the applause faded and the stadium lights dimmed, she was reminded of what she no longer had: you.
For months, Alexia had been staying with Mapi and Ingrid, their guest room a refuge from the memories that haunted her own apartment. But now, with her comeback complete, it was time to return to her space, to face the life she had to rebuild.
Moving back wasn’t easy. The first night alone was eerily quiet, the absence of your laughter, your presence, deafening. She sat on the edge of the bed, staring at the framed photos she had taken down but couldn’t bring herself to pack away completely. They were tucked in a drawer now, out of sight but never out of mind.
To reclaim the apartment, Alexia started rearranging things. She moved furniture, swapped out old décor, and even painted an accent wall in the living room. She told herself the changes would help her move on, that creating something new in the space you had once shared would lessen the sting of your absence.
But some things stayed the same. The coffee mugs you both loved were still in the cupboard, and she couldn’t bring herself to replace the couch where you had spent countless nights together, curled up under a shared blanket.
---
On the surface, Alexia was thriving. She was back on the field, her knee stronger than ever. Training sessions with her teammates brought back a sense of camaraderie and purpose. Her therapy sessions continued, though now they focused less on processing her injury and more on navigating her emotions.
Her psychologist encouraged her to reflect on the changes she had made—not just in her physical recovery but in how she approached life. She admitted that losing you had been a wake-up call, a painful but necessary reminder to take care of herself and the people she loved.
Alexia still attended small rehab sessions, maintaining her knee’s strength and stability, but she no longer approached them with the all-consuming intensity she once had. Balance was her new mantra—on the field, in her relationships, and in her heart.
Her teammates noticed the difference. She was more grounded, more present, and while she still pushed herself, it was clear she wasn’t running from anything anymore.
But Mapi, her closest confidant, knew better.
---
“You’re doing amazing, Ale,” Mapi said one evening after training, her tone warm but probing.
Alexia smiled, brushing her hair back. “Thanks. It feels good to be back.”
Mapi studied her, the way Alexia’s smile didn’t quite reach her eyes. “You’re not fooling me, you know.”
Alexia raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean?”
“You’re better, yeah. Stronger, happier. But there’s still something missing,” Mapi said, crossing her arms. “You don’t have to say it, but I know it’s her.”
Alexia looked away, her chest tightening. “It’s not that simple, Mapi.”
“No, it’s not,” Mapi agreed. “But avoiding it doesn’t make it go away.”
Alexia didn’t respond, instead staring at the floor. She knew Mapi was right. She thought about you constantly—how things ended, the conversations you had in the café, the quiet hope she still carried in her heart. But you wanted space, and Alexia was determined to respect that.
---
Meanwhile, you had found your footing in a life without Alexia.
Your apartment was small but cozy, a space that felt entirely your own. Mylo, your Maltese puppy, brought light and joy to your days, his boundless energy pulling you out of bed even on the mornings when your heart felt heavy.
Work had become a source of fulfillment. The promotion you earned brought new challenges, and you threw yourself into projects that excited you. You were finally living for yourself again, no longer consumed by the emotional weight of your relationship’s downfall.
But despite your best efforts, Alexia was never far from your thoughts.
Sometimes, late at night, you found yourself scrolling through her Instagram. She looked radiant in her photos—her strength and confidence seemingly restored. You noticed the changes in her apartment, the little details in the background of her posts that hinted at her efforts to move forward.
You didn’t like or comment again, not since the “Proud of you” message weeks ago. But every time you saw her smiling face, a mixture of pride and longing filled your chest.
---
Luisa wasn’t convinced by your insistence that everything was fine.
“You’re doing amazing, but don’t think I don’t see it,” Luisa said during one of your park walks with Mylo.
“See what?” you asked, pretending not to know.
“You miss her,” Luisa said plainly.
You sighed, looking down at Mylo, who was tugging at his leash. “Of course I miss her. But that doesn’t mean going back is the answer.”
Luisa didn’t push further, but her knowing look stayed with you.
---
For weeks, you and Alexia lived separate lives, each trying to move forward while carrying the quiet ache of what had been.
Alexia focused on her career, her therapy, and her friendships. She was stronger than she had been in months, her confidence slowly returning. But every now and then, she’d catch herself glancing at her phone, wondering if you were thinking of her too.
You continued to build a life that felt fulfilling and free, Mylo at your side and work keeping you busy. But in the quiet moments—those rare evenings when the noise of the day faded—you wondered if Alexia had truly moved on, or if she missed you as much as you missed her.
The people around you saw it—the lingering shadows in your smiles, the way neither of you seemed quite whole.
Neither of you were ready to reach out. Neither of you were ready to let go.
And so, for now, you lived separate lives, carrying the hope that maybe, one day, your paths would cross again.

Heyy love, congrats on 12K!! 🩰 could you please do no. 15 from prompt list 2 for Lando, fluff definitely but it later leads to smut? idk i love your writing, write whatever you feel best :)
thank you, love! i've been waiting for someone to submit #15 i'm so excited! i hope you like it <3
prompt #15: fake dating, but having to kiss in front of the family!! "do you trust me?" "i do, [name]" followed by THE KISS
join the 12k and annual celebration!
"lando, that's the stupidest thing i've ever heard." you replied to the man sitting on your couch. the man who had texted you and asked if he could come over to ask you something, and now you were wishing you had told him no.
"please," he begged, "it's just for the weekend and i can't show up by myself, i'll look so lame."
"i mean, you're asking me to be your fake girlfriend for you, but what's in it for me?" you asked, arms crossing over your chest.
he hummed, thinking of something, "free paddock passes for a year?"
you raised your eyebrows, "really?"
"if you agree, then yes."
"alright, fine," you sighed, being caught off by him jumping up from the sofa and wrapping his arms around you in tight, appreciative hug, "you're so lucky i'm a good friend."
and that's how you found yourself here, standing in the middle of the reception venue, his arm linked with yours as he introduced you to his hometown friends.
the dj's voice sounded over the outro of the song he had been playing, the tune changing to a slower song, "the bride and groom would like to invite all the couples to the dance floor for a dance."
lando leaned down to your ear, the arm that was linked with yours now moving to place his hand on the small of your back, leading you to the dance floor, "c'mon,"
you smiled at the friends of his you had met, bidding them a wave as you let him lead you to the middle of the floor. his hand found your waist, yours wrapping around his neck, hands conjoined at the side as your bodies slowly moved to the song.
"your friends are nice," you smiled, "not sure why they hang around you, though."
he chuckled, "ha ha, very funny."
you laughed softly, watching his eyes dance around your face. yours did the same, giggling softly when he lifted his hand towards the ceiling, spinning you in place.
"have i told you how beautiful you look tonight?" he asked, a smile still on his lips.
"about four times," you chuckled, "but i'm not opposed to hearing it again."
"well, it's true," he said, "you look stunning."
you smiled, eyes meeting his green ones that you couldn't help but notice had an extra sparkle in them, "you look good too, lan."
he was still smiling, but he looked out at the crowd around them. seeing the different couples you were surrounded with share smiles and quick kisses. his heart dropped, in order to really sell this, he'd have to kiss you.
you saw the expression on his face change, your eyebrows furrowing, "what's wrong?"
he licked his lips, meeting your concerned eyes before taking a deep breath, "i think we have to kiss."
your eyes widened, "sorry, what?"
"all the other couples are kissing," he said, "i mean, we don't have to if it'll make you uncomfortable, but i think it'd look weird if we were the only couple who didn't."
you took a deep breath, nodding, "okay,"
"hey," he said softly, lowering his head to meet your eyes, "do you trust me?"
you nodded, "i do, lando."
"good." he said, moving the hand that was placed on your waist up to your cheek, cupping it in his palm. he leaned in, the smell of his cologne taking over your senses as his lips met yours. you kissed him back, your lips moving in sync.
he pulled away, lips swollen as your forehead rested against his. he smiled, "see? perfect."
you chuckled softly before he spoke again, "can we do that again?"
you laughed a little louder, leaning back in towards his lips nonetheless, “right now?"
"right now." he nodded, leaning down and kissing you again.

This is embarrassing - M. Verstappen (2)
Summary: Y/n and Max meet again at the slopes. Part one Part three
And the next day was even busier on the slopes. The last time it was so extremely crowded at the ski lift... Three years ago. It almost looked like people were waiting for a Harry Styles concert. It was a beautiful day, but not a special day. Well, it was Christmas Day, but usually, it would be quiet on the slopes.
Y/n was watching the chaos from a distance. Her plan was to ski for an hour, but suddenly, she didn't look forward to it anymore. She removed her helm from her head and grabbed the skies from the ground. Time to go home. An annoyed feeling flowed through her veins. She hoped that she could some time on the slopes, just to relax - well, to empty her mind - and then to get ready for the evening. For a moment, she longed for a lockdown again; no people, no queues, not having to share the slopes with anyone. Y/n turned around and made her way to the exit, passing everyone complaining about the busyness.
Her eyes fell on someone who was struggling to remove his skies from his boots. Y/n walked towards them. "Do you need some help?"
"Oh, yes, please. I can't get those off."
Y/n explained to the person how to do it.
"I always feel so stupid when it doesn't work." The person put off the goggles and removed the helmet. A smile came on his face. "Hey, you, again."
A smile grew on her face. "We keep bumping into each other," she smirked.
Max noticed that the young woman was an easy talker and joked around. "It's almost getting too notable." He took a deep breath. "Thanks, for this. But, err, I really need to go to the restroom, so I'm gonna go."
"Yes, sure. I wont hold you up any longer." She grabbed her gear from the ground again and saw how Max walked in the opposite direction from the restrooms. "Hey!" Y/n stepped towards him. "It's the other direction," she said, pointing behind her.
"Yes, I know. But the queue is long. And I can hold it up for a bit longer."
"Oh, okay," she nodded.
Max walked away again. It was a good day to go out, and he wasn't the only one who thought about it like that. The entire village thought like that. Today was more about waiting than skiing. Max looked next to him, and the young woman was walking behind him. They made eye contact, and she shared an awkward smile. "It's busy out there," he said to her.
She nodded. "Unfortunately," she mentioned. "How many times did you manage to get up there?"
"Four times now, since this morning. You?"
"Zero." She sighed. "I was about to hit the slopes, but then I saw the queue and turned around."
"You're late."
"Yeah, I hoped that everyone would be too drunk because of the Après-ski and would get ready for their Christmas dinner," she honestly shared.
Max couldn't help it, but he laughed. "That's quite the strategy." He looked in front of them. "I feel like it's much busier than before."
"It's the same as before Covid, actually. But it looks busier."
"Ah, makes sense."
"And during Covid, when we were open, only the guests from the resort had access. And now everyone has access again."
He nodded. "Fully back to normal."
"Yep." Y/n struggled to carry her skies, which annoyed her more. "Where do you stay?"
"Other side of the village," he replied. "We're renting a house. It's called Maison de Neige."
"Ah, that's a lovely house. Far away, though."
He looked at her and noticed the somewhat judgy look. He knew it sounded stupid. Why go to your accommodation to go to the bathroom on the other side of the village when there's a restroom nearby? "I know, I know. But it was so busy."
"Yeah, I mean, I would do the same," she agreed. "You know what? I live there," she pointed at a house across the street. "If you want to, you can use the toilet. Saves you some time."
Max raised his eyebrows. "Are you sure?" He scanned the houses in the street. He thought those were holiday accommodations since all of them looked huge.
Y/n nodded. "Yes. It's no problem."
For a moment, Max hesitated. Could he trust her? But on the other hand, she didn't look like a person who would take advantage of him. "What is your name, actually?"
"Oh, yes, right. My name is Y/n," she introduced herself.
"Nice to meet you, Y/n. I'm Max."
"I know," she whispered. "Nice to meet you, too." Y/n zipped her coat open and grabbed her keys. She opened the door that led to the garage.
Max followed her inside. He closed the door behind him and looked around. On the left side, one car was parked. On the other side, he saw a lot of ski gear. In the middle of the garage was a wooden bench to undress from the thick layers of ski gear. And that was what Y/n did. He followed her attitude.
"The relief when taking those boots off..." She got up and waited for him.
He put his helmet on the bench next to him and got up as well. "...heavenly," he dreamingly said and followed her upstairs. His eyes fell on the photos on the wall of the hall; a lot of family photos.
"Eh, here is the toilet," Y/n said and opened a door in the hall.
She left Max by going to the kitchen. Now she wasn't going to the slopes anymore, she wanted to treat herself to a glass of hot chocolate for the disappointment. Treat yourself. But now, did she need to ask Max if he also wanted a glass? She invited him over, but just for the use of the toilet. What if he thought this was weird? Y/n grabbed her hoodie that was hanging over the bar stool in the kitchen, put it on and stepped into her slippers. She leaned against the kitchen counter, debating her decision. If he says yes, give him hot chocolate. If he says no, nothing else will happen. It's not the end of the world.
"Thank you."
Y/n looked up and saw Max standing in the hall. She friendly smiled. "No problem," she said. "And, eh... This may sound weird, but I'm gonna make some hot chocolate. Do you want a glass too?" She was waiting for his reaction. "It's okay if you want to go back..." she quietly added.
"Can't say no to hot chocolate," he responded with a smile and entered the kitchen. "And it's not like it will be less busy now, on the slopes."
"Fair." Y/n heated some chocolate milk.
"No offence," Max broke the silence. He only had seen the kitchen, but the kitchen looked new and modern. And the size of the house was big; he assumed the entire property was one home. And the car in the garage was the new Volvo. "But what do you do for a living to live in a house like this?"
She looked at him and smirked. "It's my parents' house."
"Yeah, okay, I already thought so," he made the assumption. "But even then. They say it's expensive to live in this area."
"It is," she confirmed, pouring the hot chocolate into two cups. "Whipped cream?"
"Yes, please."
Y/n grabbed the whipped cream from the fridge and put it on the hot chocolate. "So, yeah. It's not like my dad is the mayor of the village, but he is in charge of the slopes; the maintenance, staff, etcetera. And my mum is the general manager of Blue."
"Blue?"
"The resort." She handed over the hot chocolate and sat down on one of the stools at the kitchen island.
"Thanks." He sat down next to her.
Whenever Y/n would say that her parents were a big name in the village, she was scared that people would think that she would use that position for herself. She was proud of her parents, but... "So yeah, the daughter of."
"How is that like?" Max could perhaps fill in the answer, but he wanted to keep the conversation going. He ate some of the whipped cream.
"I would say lonely; they are barely home. We always have to postpone the holidays to moments when it's not busy. But on the other hand, my brother and I help them, so we always have something to do around here. And I really can't complain about where I live."
He nodded. "Yeah, I can imagine... It has its pros and cons?"
She nodded as well and carefully took a sip from her drink.
"I'm barely home as well."
"You know how it feels from the other side," she quietly mentioned and smirked to keep the conversation light. "But," Y/n started and smiled, "what will you be doing tonight?"
Today was Christmas. "We're staying at the Maison and making dinner on our own. We spend the evening at the restaurant yesterday. Yesterday we dressed up; today, we wear the ugliest Christmas jumper."
A smile grew on Y/n's face. "Sounds good."
"And you?"
"My parents said that they might be off for the evening. And if that isn't the case, my brother and I will relax, have a Christmas film marathon and eat too much food." Y/n stroked a piece of hair behind her ear. "It sounds like we don't have friends or other family, but they already have plans."
"I'm not judging you. Who am I to judge?"
You are Max Verstappen.
"Besides, I prefer lazy Christmas evenings over busy, formal, perfect-not-so-perfect Christmas diners where you can't be yourself," he added.
She pushed the corners of her mouth down and looked impressed. "You have a point there."
"See."
"I don't know, it sounds so pathetic. A 24-year-old celebrating Christmas on the couch."
"I think a lot of 24-year-olds are jealous of you. Secretly," Max comforted her and lightly shrugged. "But, now I am here with a knower of the slopes. When is it quiet on the slopes?"
Y/n took a sip of the hot chocolate and licked her lips when she could feel the whipped cream on them. "Tomorrow morning," she replied. "And the morning after New Year. When the slopes open at 8 o'clock, to 9 o'clock-ish. No one wants to be there in the morning after a holiday with a hangover or a lack of sleep," she chuckled.
"Will you be there?"
"Oh, absolutely," she replied without hesitation. "I can't say no to an almost empty slope during the peak days."
A laugh rolled over his lips. "I like how dedicated you are."
Y/n held up her shoulders and looked proud of her knowledge. "Quality over quantity," she playfully said.
"As you should."
"You can join me, if you want. We're going with the family."
He squinted and thought about it. An empty slope? Fantastic. But with a hangover or only a few hours of sleep? Meh. "Let me think about that."
"Of course, no stress. We're leaving at half past seven. I will see if you will be downstairs tomorrow." She took the last sip of the hot chocolate.
Max nodded, emptying his cup as well. "Thank you for the hot chocolate, it was good," he smiled. "I'm going back to the Maison, calling it a day."
"I'm glad it was."
They made their way to the garage below the house, and Max put on his gear again, ready to enter the cold again. Well, it wasn't that cold, but it also wasn't warm. A decent temperature, but on the colder side to ski.
"Thanks again," Max smiled and opened the backdoor that led to the street. He was holding his skies and helmet in his hands, really showing he would go to his own place.
Y/n crossed her arms in front of her chest when the cold circled around her body. She smiled. "No need to thank me. Merry Christmas, Max."
"Merry Christmas," he smiled. "And maybe I will see you tomorrow morning. Half past seven, right?"
She nodded. "On the dot," she playfully said.
A chuckle escaped his mouth, and he stepped away, turning his back to her. "We will see," he mentioned and threw his hand with helmet in the air.
The smile on Y/n's mouth became wider, and she shook her head. Meeting him was the last thing that she expected, let alone drinking hot chocolate with him. She closed the door and locked it again. Her eyes fell on her ski gear, she didn't tidy it up. A sigh left her mouth, and she picked up her skies, placing them in their holder on the wall. She grabbed her boots and put them on the side. When she grabbed her helmet from the bench, the backdoor opened.
"Hey, Y/n/n,” her brother's voice filled the garage. Theodore grinned when he looked at his sister. He was wearing his teacher's ski outfit, meaning he got back straight from the slopes.
Y/n raised her eyebrows, and an annoying look came on her face. She hated that nickname, and he knew that. "Piss off," she mumbled. "Close the door for the cold."
"Good..." The deep voice of her dad said. When he stepped in, he was looking at his watch. "...afternoon," he finished when he saw it was a few minutes before six o'clock. Her dad was dressed normally; trousers, leather boots, a trendy coat.
"Ah, how cosy," a female voice then filled the air. A woman entered the garage, wearing her work clothes, and closed the door, locking it. "When was the last time we all stood in the garage at the same time?" The mother was widely smiling.
A soft smile grew on Y/n's face. "Are we all home tonight?"
"Yes."
"Yup."
"Absolutely."
Something she never thought would happen. She hoped for it, knew it was unrealistic, but this... A Christmas present to the family. "Love it," Y/n smiled and grabbed her coat. She brought her helmet and coat upstairs and stored them in the closet. She got to the kitchen and put the two used cups in the dishwasher.
“Y/n/n,” mum said when entering the kitchen. "Shall we make dinner in an hour?"
"Yes, sure."
"Do I need to help with anything?" Dad put on the coffee machine and leaned against the counter while crossing his arms in front of his chest.
Mum took a deep breath. "Uh..." She looked around the kitchen. "Let's just relax for a bit. My brain is a sponge." She left the kitchen with a glass of water in her hand and a yawn that escaped her lips.
"What's on the menu?" Dad asked his daughter. "And do you want a cup of coffee?"
"A cappuccino, please," Y/n replied. "And we have carpaccio, salmon with veggies and tiramisu," she mentioned and opened the fridge. "But we have to make the tiramisu since it was sold out."
"Let's make the tiramisu, then we will set the table and do the rest," he replied. "Mum has an extremely busy time; let's give her some rest. I think we need tonight simple anyway. Dinner and then watch a movie. I'm exhausted, everyone is exhausted."
Theodore entered the kitchen. "Sounds like a plan. Honestly, I'm not even dressing up. I'm gonna shower and put on a Christmas jumper, and that is all I will give you tonight." He yawned. "I've seen so many people today, I am overcooked."
"Was your class fun?" Dad asked his son and made a coffee for Y/n. "Coffee?"
Theodore nodded at his last question. "Yes, please. And the class... I have this annoying child I have to deal with, but overall, it's fine. Glad we have nothing tomorrow."
"Are we still doing the ski trip at eight tomorrow?" Y/n then asked.
"I say yes, but only if I have the energy for it," Theodore breathed.
"I will go, it's the only time I can go," dad breathed.

Hi! I saw you writing for Dr House MD so can you write House x reader where reader is in pregnant and go to hospital and bring house food and his team is like "WHAAAAT?!"
Ps sorry if my English is bad.
PPs if you want to read some Dr House stuff go to my profile because I'm writing too :)
HII. Yes I can very much write that for you, amazing idea, and i will def check out your writing. We love supporting other people obsessed with House M.D. I'm keeping it fluffy for this one so i'll get right into it....
It's not everyday that your husband texts and asks you to bring him food. Actually, it has never happened.
Greg likes keeping his personal life a secret from the rest of his co workers. The only person in the hospital who even knows I exist is Wilson, who has helped keep me a secret. It's not my favorite thing being kept a secret, especially being pregnant with his child and feeling overly emotional 24/7. Last night we'd gotten into a small argument about how I feel like he's ashamed of me, he's hidden me for years after all. He even takes off his wedding ring before work...which has always unnerved me a little. So imagine my delight when he texts me and asks to bring him something for lunch.
The car ride there I'm running through scenarios in my head on how it'll go, naturally Greg has told me all about the people he works with, so I know a little of what to expect.
Finally I arrive and park, take a deep breath, and glance at the takeout bag in the passengers seat. I'd stopped on the drive and grabbed it for him. His order, of course, something overly greasy and a mouthful to pronounce. I rub my hand over the curve of my belly, trying to ignore the flutter of nerves running throughout me.
"This is fine," I mutter.
"They're just doctors. Judgmental, overworked doctors with no idea I exist."
Sure it's a little hypocritical being so nervous to be known, when just last night i'd cried to him about how i'm unknown. But i'm growing a child inside of me, cut me some slack.
When I step into the hospital, I get the usual looks. People don't recognize me, obviously, but they sure notice the bump. It still takes some getting used to with all the staring or sympathetic looks. The only sympathetic looks I appreciate are from the other Mom's I see, or else it annoys the hell out of me.
Hospitals have never been easy to navigate, I think they make them 'maze-like' on purpose, but I eventually go in the elevator and walk onto the correct floor. I walk to the diagnostics department, Greg's food in hand while my heart actively attempts to break out of my ribs.
Through the glass I can see him, leaning on his cane and half-harassing some blonde guy...Chase...if I remember right. I'm about ready to psych myself out, but I feel a kick in my stomach. Definitely Gregs kid, kicking me before I can pussy out on something.
So I finally slip inside, the door shutting just loudly enough for three heads to turn, four when Greg turns too.
I give him a look before speaking up. "You gonna take your food before I eat it?"
Greg just grins, the same one I fell in love with. But besides that there is silence. Genuine, stunned silence.
Chase's mouth opens but no sound comes out.
Foreman furrows his eyebrows. "Is she-..."
"Sexy? Very." House interrupts, limping over to me and setting the food on his desk. He smirks and gives me a quick peck on the lips before turning to the team and feigning shock.
"Oh! Oh wow, I mean...you guys didn't know I had a wife? Could've sworn I mentioned it." He says sarcastically. I glance at him with a smile and shake my head.
"Yes, i'm pregnant. It's nice to finally meet you all." I say softly, defusing Greg's usual asshole behavior. I love it, though.
Cameron is just glancing between Greg and I as though she's discovered a whole new species of animal or something. I'll admit, seeing the shock on their faces is something i'll cherish forever.
Finally, Chase's brain seems to collected itself. "But you...how? How have we never met you in the years we've worked here? Is this a prank, did you hire a hooker to do this?"
I might've been offended if his thick Australian accent didn't ease it. But Greg is clearly offended, he scoffs and takes a step towards Chase.
"What can I say, I told you all I'm charming. But if you refer to my wife as a hooker again, I might just have to fire you." He says way to cheerfully.
Chase isn't fazed by the threat, still in shock like the others. He goes to speak up soon but he's cut off by the door opening again. It's Wilson, he peaks his head in and smiles when he sees me.
"Oh! Hi y/n, good to see you. I see the team has finally met you."
Chase, Foreman and Cameron all look completely stunned, utterly speechless. And from the stories Greg has told me, it's rare they don't talk. Wilson dips out, off to actually do his job unlike Greg.
"What the actual hell?" Chase says, so I speak up again.
"Yeah I know this is a lot to take it, but I promise i'm not just some hooker. We're happily married, and i'm pregnant with his kid. He's just hidden it from you all for reasons I still don't quite understand but then again from the shit he tells me...I don't understand how any of you still have jobs." I say simply.
That earns a small laugh of disbelief from Foreman. To which the shock passes by, and Greg and I are bombarded with questions. I answer them all happily though, it's nice to feel seen. Sometime throughout the questions i'd glanced at his hand, and just like magic...his ring was on. I don't know if Greg actually got around to eating his lunch, but something tells me he really only asked to make his pregnant wife feel better...
------
ik this was a shorter one but I like how it came out, hope you guys did too. :)
@cloudofchocolate sorry for being so late to the request...

last part! | next part!
part four: "someone else's hoodie"
three weeks earlier.
ari sat curled up at the end of the lounge couch in the athletic center, legs tucked beneath her and one sock slipping halfway off her heel. the glow from the overhead light hit the glossy pages of her psych textbook just right, making it even harder to concentrate. dense paragraphs blurred together no matter how many times she reread the same sentence. her highlighter gave one final, pitiful scratch before dying. her water bottle was empty. her stomach gave a quiet growl in protest.
she sighed through her nose and leaned her head back against the couch cushion, eyes fluttering shut for just a second—
“here.”
a voice dropped beside her, smooth and familiar, and a cold sandwich pressed lightly against her arm.
ari blinked, straightening up just enough to clock paige lowering herself into the seat next to her like she belonged there. smoothie in one hand. sandwich in the other. casual, effortless. annoying.
“what?” ari looked from the sandwich to paige’s face. “why are you—”
“because you looked like you were two seconds from passing out,” paige said, deadpan, like she was stating a fact. “also. you skipped dinner again.”
“i didn’t skip it,” ari said, though her voice pitched higher, guilty. “i just… delayed it.”
“uh-huh.” paige gave her a knowing look, leaning back into the couch like she had all night to call her bluff. “so that wasn’t your stomach just now making a cry for help?”
ari let out a breathy laugh, shaking her head as she took the sandwich anyway. “you’re such a drama queen.”
“and you’re welcome,” paige said, popping the straw into her smoothie like she hadn’t just handed ari an unsolicited meal. “you know, a simple thank you works too.”
“mm.” ari bit into the sandwich, still eyeing her suspiciously. “you always come bearing food for the starving, or am i just the lucky one?”
“depends.” paige smirked. “are you gonna stop skipping meals, or do i have to keep rescuing you every night?”
ari snorted, chewing. “you have a hero complex. it’s weird.”
“you have a bad habit of pretending you’re fine when you’re obviously not.”
that made ari pause for just a second, chewing slower as she looked down at the sandwich in her hands.
paige didn’t say it with any edge. it was casual. soft, even. but it still landed a little too close to the truth.
they fell into a quiet moment, not awkward, but stretched—like something was hanging between them they hadn’t quite touched yet.
paige shifted slightly, leaning in to peek at the open textbook on ari’s lap, shoulder brushing hers just enough to feel deliberate.
“what’re you studying?”
ari glanced at the page, squinting. “brain stuff.”
paige laughed under her breath. “damn. sexy.”
ari rolled her eyes. “you’re ridiculous.”
“you’re the one reading about psychological effects on people for fun. i’m just appreciating the effort.”
their knees touched. ari didn’t move. neither did paige.
“highlighter’s dead,” ari said after a beat, holding it up like evidence.
paige reached into her backpack without looking, fishing around until she pulled out a pink one and handed it over. “here.”
ari looked at it, then back at her. “do you just carry around backup highlighters like some kind of school supply dealer?”
“don’t question the system,” paige said smoothly. “just accept the gift and thank your local princess of organization.”
ari raised an eyebrow. “princess?”
“i’m being humble.”
a short laugh escaped her, the kind that bubbled up before she could stop it. she took the highlighter.
“you’re weird,” she said, a little softer this time.
“and you’re welcome. again.”
ari leaned back into the couch, watching paige sip her smoothie like she hadn’t just walked in and cracked open her whole night with ease. her fingers brushed the edge of the pink highlighter.
“what flavor is that?” she asked, nodding toward the cup.
paige grinned. “guess.”
“strawberry banana.”
“nope.”
“mango?”
“closer.”
“pineapple?”
“passionfruit.”
ari blinked. “that’s… bougie.”
“and delicious,” paige said, lifting the cup again in a mock toast. “wanna try it?”
she offered it without hesitation.
ari hesitated anyway. not because she didn’t want to—but because the space between them was already charged, and this felt like… something. a beat too intimate.
but then she took it.
“thanks,” she murmured, sipping from the straw paige had already used.
paige watched her mouth the whole time.
──────────────────────
paige slid into the seat across from ari in the athlete dining hall, dropping her tray like she’d been there the whole time.
without saying a word, she tossed a water bottle across the table.
ari caught it with one hand, startled.
“what’s this for?”
“rehydrate,” paige said, picking up her fork. “you looked like a dying plant walking in here. little shriveled.”
ari raised a brow, the corner of her mouth twitching.
“thanks for the concern. you always lead with insults or is that just for me?”
“just you,” paige said, easily. “i save the good material for the people i like.”
ari opened the bottle, still watching her. “and this is you being nice?”
“yup. generous, even.” paige chewed slowly, then added, “also, you forgot your knee wrap.”
ari expression shifted slightly—not defensive, but surprised. “okay, that’s weirdly specific.”
“you always have it when you leave the weight room,” paige said, eyes flicking to her leg like it proved the point. “i’ve seen you mess with it a bunch walking out. today? nothing. figured you rushed.”
ari stared at her for a beat, caught off guard by the way she noticed. not just noticed—paid attention. little things. patterns. things no one usually caught unless they were looking.
“you’re observant,” she said, more thoughtful than teasing this time. paige shrugged, like it wasn’t anything.
“just got a good memory.”
“mm. for me, apparently.”
“don’t flatter yourself,” paige said, but her eyes stayed locked on ari’s a second too long. “it’s just hard not to notice someone who always walks like they’ve got somewhere to be.”
ari looked down, suddenly aware of how warm her skin felt under the table. the water bottle in her hand felt colder than before.
“…thanks. for the drink.”
paige tilted her head.
“anytime, ma.”
the word hit like a soft, unexpected thud in ari’s chest. she didn’t show it—not really—but something flickered behind her eyes, just for a second. like her body caught it before her brain could.
she looked back up, forcing a slow exhale.
“you know you’re a lot, right?”
“yeah,” paige said, unbothered. “but i’m useful.”
ari let a laugh slip, shaking her head as she finally took a sip of the water. her voice was quieter, but not any less sincere.
“annoyingly useful.”
“i’ll take it.”

present day | september.
“but like…be for real this time,” nia said, sprawled across her bed. she shoved another handful of lays in her mouth, “how fine is he? like on a scale from ‘he cute’ to ‘i’d let him ruin my life.’”
ari, across the room, pulled a navy uconn hoodie over her head—oversized, definitely not hers, the scent a dead giveaway. she rolled the sleeves once, then again, trying to play it casual. “you’ve literally seen him,” she said, grabbing a hair tie off the desk. “tall, tattoos, and jawline sharp enough to file your nails on. he’s not ugly.”
“he’s hot,” nia confirmed, crunching dramatically. “but he also looks like the type to ask for your snap before your name.”
“probably,” ari admitted, tying her hair up into a loose puff. “but he’s kinda funny. and he knows he looks good, which…whatever. it works for him.”
“ugh,” nia groaned, sitting up. “so he’s cocky and tall? girl, be serious. he’s a menace.”
“he’s not a menace,” ari said quickly, maybe too quickly. she slid onto the edge of her bed, reaching for her sneakers. “he’s just—he’s confident. and smooth. it’s harmless.”
“right,” nia said slowly, eyeing her. “and you’re just, what? entertaining him for fun?”
“yep.” ari popped the ‘p’ and started lacing her shoes. “it’s chill. fun. nothing serious.”
nia tilted her head. “you always wear ‘nothing serious’s’ hoodie?”
ari looked down at the sleeves she’d rolled, the faded UCONN logo stretched across her chest. her mouth twitched. “i didn’t even realize it was his, to be honest.”
“mhm. you accidentally put it on, after accidentally spending the night, and accidentally taking it with you?”
“okay,” ari laughed, half-defensive, half-exasperated. “maybe it’s a little more than fun. but it’s not like… that.”
“what’s ‘that’ supposed to mean?” nia asked, curious now. “you like him?”
ari paused, the knot in her laces suddenly too tight. “…i like hanging out with him.”
nia narrowed her eyes. “but?”
“but nothing.”
“girl.”
ari sighed, flopping back against her bedframe, fingers fiddling with her drawstrings. “look, he’s cool. and it’s easy. no pressure, no drama, no expectations. and i don’t have to—i dunno. explain myself.”
nia watched her. “you mean you don’t have to explain why it’s not her?”
ari’s eyes flicked up, sharp and then guarded. “…who’s ‘her’?”
nia just raised her brows. didn’t answer.
ari pulled her hoodie down like it could hide the heat rising in her cheeks. “…i told you. it’s casual.”
“mhm,” nia said again, not pushing but not letting it go either. “well, just don’t fall for him. or do. whatever. but if he breaks your heart, i’m fighting him in front of gampel. cameras rolling. first row witness seats for ice.”
ari winced slightly at the mention of ice. then smiled, soft and distant. “…you’d win.”
“obviously,” nia said. “i fight dirty.”
ari laughed, but the sound was quieter this time. like it wasn’t all the way true.
──────────────────────
when ari met jaylen.
the late afternoon sun cast a warm, golden haze over the soccer field, where folding tables, team banners, and scattered water balloons set the stage for chaos disguised as a charity event. uconn athletes from the volleyball, men’s basketball, women’s soccer, and men’s football here. all teams spread out across stations—laughing, yelling, attempting to organize kids who were having a fun time.
ari stood near a table of water cups and juice boxes, arms crossed loosely over her chest, observing the mess like she’d been tricked into babysitting a neighborhood block party. she won’t admit it, but she kinda enjoyed it.
“you look thrilled to be here,” a voice drawled beside her.
she turned to find a tall guy in a uconn men’s basketball hoodie and too much confidence in his grin. his curls were tied back with a band, sleeves pushed up over his forearms showing some tattoos with pretty brown eyes. the name on his volunteer badge read jaylen #9 like the number was part of his legal identity.
“oh, i’m having a blast,” ari deadpanned. “can’t you tell by the way i’m not sweating and not chasing toddlers with water balloons?”
“so you’re the strategic type. cool, cool,” jaylen said, tilting his head. “i can work with that.”
ari narrowed her eyes. “work with what?”
“we’re paired up,” he said, flashing a laminated schedule from his back pocket. “station six. three-legged race with the ten-and-under crew. we’re in this together now, partner.”
ari blinked. “seriously?”
“unless you wanna abandon the children,” he said, mock-offended. “but i wouldn’t peg you as a quitter or a person to hate kids.”
“you don’t even know me.”
“i know you’re wearing volleyball gear and you look like you don’t take shit from anyone. and also…” he leaned in slightly, grinning, “i know you’ve already thought about making fun of me at least twice. probably three times.”
ari cracked a reluctant smile. “four, actually.”
“damn. ruthless.”
“you’ll survive.”
they walked toward the race station, side by side, and she could feel him watching her from the corner of his eye like he was trying to piece her together already.
“you always this confident?” she asked, tying their legs together with the oversized velcro strap a little too tightly.
“only when it works,” he said. “does it?”
she gave him a flat look. “you’re so annoying.”
“see? it’s working.”
she rolled her eyes, but her laugh escaped anyway. it caught her off guard—how easy it was to talk to him, how loud he was, how quickly he made space for himself. bold. smooth. self-assured.
it hit her, for just a flicker of a second, how different it felt when paige said bold things. when she leaned in too close and let her voice drop just a little. that kind of confidence always made something warm spike in ari’s chest, sharp and unspoken. jaylen’s version was louder, flashier, easier to see coming, but it didn’t land the same.
she shook the thought off.
“okay, hotshot,” ari said, crouching slightly, “try not to trip and kill us both. we’ve got four races to win.”
“you’re competitive. i like that.”
“you don’t know that yet.”
“no, but i plan on finding out.”
their legwork was sloppy at first, mostly jaylen overcompensating with his height and ari yanking him back into rhythm. they bickered the whole time—ari throwing dry comments about his long strides, jaylen countering with mock praise about her ‘elite’ footwork.
by the time the station ended, they’d somehow won every round. neither of them let go of the strap right away.
later, they ended up at the drinks table again, this time side by side on the cooler lid, trading stories about high school coaches. jaylen was quick with jokes, charming in a practiced way. ari responded with sarcasm and subtle grins, sipping a soda like she hadn’t realized how long they’d been talking.
jaylen nudged her shoulder lightly. “see? told you i was a good partner.”
ari glanced at him, then down at the wristband still on her arm. “hmm. jury’s still out.”
he laughed. “okay. what’s it gonna take to win the verdict?”
“ask me again when we’re not surrounded by middle schoolers,” she said, standing.
he stood too, easygoing and unbothered. “bet. i’ll hold you to that.”
ari walked away before he could say anything else, trying to ignore the weird flutter in her chest that didn’t seem connected to jaylen at all.
──────────────────────
present day
ari caught sight of paige across the dining hall—sitting at the far end of a round table with azzi and nika, legs stretched out, hoodie sleeves half-pushed to her elbows, laughing at something nika had just said.
jaylen slid up behind her a second later. his hoodie was slung over ari’s shoulders and his hand brushed lightly at her hip as he leaned in to murmur something in her ear. whatever he said made her laugh under her breath, eyes darting down and then back up like she didn’t want to react too much, but couldn’t help it.
paige’s gaze lifted mid-sip from her soda. it landed on the hoodie first, hanging too comfortably on ari’s frame, then tracked slowly upward—to her neck, her mouth, her face.
ari met her eyes. just for a second. enough time to register the look before it vanished.
paige looked away like she hadn’t seen anything at all, but her jaw flexed.
azzi caught it immediately.
“you’re sulking,” she said around a forkful of rice, nudging paige’s elbow with hers.
“i’m literally eating,” paige muttered.
“you’re eating with the sulky face,” azzi clarified, voice light but knowing. “it’s giving ‘i’m about to punch something or someone’ vibes.”
paige huffed a short breath of laughter—dry, humorless. “don’t be annoying.”
niki grinned without looking up from her phone. “she’s not wrong.”
“i’m not sulking,” paige repeated, but the edge in her voice said otherwise.
azzi followed her line of sight. she didn’t say anything for a moment. “that’s jaylen, right?”
paige didn’t answer, but that said enough.
“she’s into him?” azzi asked, more gentle now. less teasing.
paige shrugged, eyes still on her plate like she was trying to burn a hole through the rice. “i guess.” azzi waited. paige stabbed a piece of grilled chicken with her fork like it had personally offended her.
“you okay?”
there was a pause long enough to feel heavy between them. “i don’t get jealous,” paige said finally, voice clipped.
azzi tilted her head, watching her. “sure,” she said slowly, drawing the word out. “you’re just glaring at the hoodie for fun.”
paige let her head fall back, exhaling through her nose. “i just… liked talking to her.”
“mhm,” azzi said, bumping her knee under the table. “you sure that’s all it is?”
paige didn’t answer.
but she didn’t look up again either.
──────────────────────
“you tryna let me walk you to class,” jaylen said, casually leaning against one of the dining hall pillars like it owed him something, arms crossed and smirk tugging at his mouth, “or you about to disappear again like a ghost?”
ari looked up from her phone, water bottle tucked in the crook of her arm, a lazy smile creeping onto her face. “hmm. depends. if i let you walk me, do i have to endure ten uninterrupted minutes of your nonstop flirting?”
jaylen grinned, pushing off the pillar to fall in step beside her. “you say that like it’s some kind of burden.”
“it is a burden. a heavy one,” she said, side-eyeing him as they made their way toward the main exit.
he laughed, loud and unbothered. “damn. you wound me, james. and here i thought we were building something special.”
“what, like trauma?” she teased.
“see, this is exactly why i mess with you. got a mouth on you,” he said, shoulder brushing hers as they passed through the doors. “but it’s cute. i like that.”
ari didn’t answer right away. the afternoon sun hit her skin just right—golden, warm—and she tucked her hands into the sleeves of his sweatshirt. not paige’s sweatshirt, she noted silently. the thought showed up uninvited.
they moved past the gym, their strides syncing without effort. jaylen talked easily—light questions about her team, how often they practiced, how she handled early lifts. he didn’t pretend to know volleyball, didn’t act like he needed to impress her with recycled sports lingo. that, she appreciated.
“so what’s your type?” he asked, glancing at her as they crossed onto the path that curved toward the psych building.
ari raised an eyebrow. “damn. going straight for the scouting report, huh?”
“i’m efficient,” he said, grinning. “bold questions get bold answers.”
she tilted her head, considering. “i don’t really have a type. i like people who make me laugh. people who are… easy to be around. not in a fake way, just… chill. comfortable.”
jaylen pressed a hand to his chest like she’d just confessed her undying love. “say less. that’s literally me.”
ari laughed under her breath, but it didn’t fully reach her eyes. she caught herself thinking about how paige made her laugh—not on purpose, not always, but in that dry, under-the-breath kind of way that snuck up on her. how being around her didn’t feel like trying.
she blinked it away.
“you’re tolerable,” she said, voice dry as ever.
“see,” jaylen said, nudging her arm. “this is what i mean. you say that like you’re not flirting.”
“i’m not flirting.”
“sure, pretty,” he said, drawling the word out just enough to make her skin warm.
ari bit the inside of her cheek, eyes flicking toward the sidewalk ahead. her chest gave a quiet, unwanted tug. she never reacts like that when he flirts. not the way she did when paige said ma like it belonged to her.
“always so cocky.” she said instead, shifting the mood back into something light, something easy.
“only around people who pretend they’re not into me.”
she didn’t answer that one.
jaylen’s voice faded a little as they neared the psych building, saying something about her jumper needing work if they ever played one-on-one. ari gave him a hum of acknowledgment, tossed him a sideways glance, but her focus had already started to drift—just a little.
she liked him. she did.
he was easy to be around, smooth without trying too hard, charming in a way that most people would fall for without thinking twice. and sometimes, when he smiled at her like that—broad and confident like he already knew she’d smile back—she did feel something. a flicker. a low hum in her chest. something that was almost enough.
almost.
but not quite.
because every time he made her laugh, every time he said something cocky and grinned at her like he was waiting for her reaction, her brain betrayed her. her mind would flash—brief, sharp—to a different laugh. to dry humor, midwestern sarcasm, and blue eyes that always seemed to be watching her even when paige pretended not to be.
god, those eyes.
the way paige smiled when she was trying not to. the way she gave her food without thinking about it twice, like she already knew ari needed it. the way she said ma like it was a secret between them, like it meant something.
ari shook her head slightly, pushing the thought away before it could settle too deep.
you’re supposed to like jaylen, she reminded herself. he was exactly the kind of guy people expected her to fall for—athletic, good-looking, outgoing. he said all the right things, played the game well, gave her space to banter but never pushed too far. he didn’t make her feel off-balance. he didn’t make her question what any of this meant.
and still… he didn’t make her wonder. not the way paige did. not in that frustrating, heart-racing, skin-warming way that made her feel like she was always on the edge of something unspoken.
and maybe that was the problem.
maybe it was easier like this—safe. predictable. something she could keep in the shallow end. because whatever it was with paige, it had weight. it had sharp corners. and there were too many reasons not to go near it.
like the fact that paige was paige—uconn’s celebrity with a messy hookup history and a habit of not sticking around. and more than that… she was ice’s teammate.
and ice was her best friend. her sister in every way that mattered.
ari couldn’t risk that.
couldn’t be the reason shit got weird. couldn’t give ice a reason not to trust her.
so maybe this was for the best.
laughing at jaylen’s jokes, wearing his hoodie like it meant something, letting herself exist in that easy space where no one got hurt and everything stayed surface-level.
she didn’t owe anyone answers. not yet.
but still… as she walked up the steps to class, she didn’t remember anything jaylen had just said.
she just kept thinking about a pair of blue eyes that made her forget how to breathe. and the quiet, terrible fact that she was already in too deep to pretend she wasn’t.
──────────────────────
paige laid on her stomach in her dorm bed, laptop open in front of her, history quiz half-finished, and sza playing low from her speaker.
she stared at the screen. read the same sentence three times.
Which event is considered the turning point of the American Revolution?
she exhaled through her nose, jaw tight, and hit the pause on apple music.
her room was too quiet now. or maybe her head was just too loud.
jaylen’s name had popped up in a groupchat earlier—someone cracking a joke about him and ari leaving the dining hall together—and paige hadn’t even meant to react. just kept scrolling. just kept acting like it didn’t land in her chest the way it did.
but it did.
and now she was here, stuck in this in-between place she hated—pretending she wasn’t bothered, pretending she didn’t notice the way ari had looked at him lately. or how his hoodie had been slung around her shoulders like it belonged there.
it shouldn’t matter. it wasn’t like she and ari were… anything. not really. not officially. they joked. they talked. they sat close enough that their knees brushed and neither of them moved.
it was nothing.
except… it hadn’t felt like nothing.
not when ari laughed a little softer around her. not when she stole paige’s smoothie and sipped from the straw like it was nothing. not when she called her ma in that low, teasing tone like she knew exactly what she was doing.
and not when paige started noticing things—like how ari always tied her shoes in double knots, or how she tapped her pen when she was overthinking, or how she got quiet after practice on days she felt like she hadn’t played her best.
there was something there. wasn’t there?
paige closed her laptop, flipped onto her back, and stared at the ceiling like it had answers she didn’t.
she hated this feeling. the twist in her stomach. the quiet pull in her chest. the part of her that cared more than she should.
she’d never been the jealous type. she didn’t do the whole what if thing.
but this—whatever this was—felt different. ari felt different.
and maybe that was the problem.
because caring meant risk. and paige didn’t do risk. not with her heart. not after everything.
but still… here she was.
trying not to picture jaylen’s arm around ari. trying not to remember the way ari smiled when it was her sitting next to her, not him.
trying not to want something she couldn’t name.
trying not to care.
and failing, quietly.
──────────────────────
volleyball practice that afternoon was brutal— endless sprints, scrimmages, and extra reps because coach marie was clearly in a mood. whenever she said “getting complacent,” everyone knew it really meant, “i’m annoyed and you’re gonna pay for it.” ari’s lungs burned, sweat dripped down her back, and her muscles were screaming, but her focus kept flickering to jordan.
jordan was… different today. quieter than usual, her normally sharp passes were on point but carried a strange tension, and her serves were even more precise—almost like she was trying to prove something. when the drill shifted and they paired up again, jordan barely glanced her way, eyes darting anywhere but on ari.
“you good?” ari finally asked, wiping the sweat off her brow, trying to keep it casual but careful not to sound like she was prying.
“yeah,” jordan answered too fast, almost clipped. her voice didn’t quite match the easy ‘i’m fine’ vibe she was aiming for.
ari raised an eyebrow. “you sure? you seem… off.”
jordan’s gaze flicked up, locking briefly with ari’s eyes before she quickly looked away. “just tired. a long day.”
ari didn’t press further, but the way jordan’s jaw tightened told her there was more under the surface.
before ari could say anything else, lexi bounced over, slipping on her sweatshirt with a grin. “welcome to the team officially, ari. now we gotta haze you — it’s tradition.”
“oh, absolutely not,” nia said, crossing her arms, eyes sparkling with mischief.
a few girls erupted into laughter, but ari noticed jordan stayed quiet—no smile, no tease, just a tight-lipped expression that looked almost like she was holding back something.
ari smiled softly, genuine this time, because even through all the sweat and exhaustion, there was something about jordan’s weird, quiet energy today that made her want to know more.
and maybe jordan wasn’t just acting weird for no reason.

that night, one of the athlete apartments was packed—the kind of gathering that didn’t really need a reason. someone’s birthday, someone’s milestone, someone’s idea to celebrate a midweek win with loud music and too many bodies crammed into too small a space.
ari walked in late, shoulder brushing the doorframe, sweatpants low on her hips and jaylen’s hoodie still hanging off her frame. her curls were out tonight, hoops in, eyes sharp. the apartment was humid with heat and laughter, bass rattling underfoot as people leaned into each other in kitchen corners and across couch cushions.
she scanned the room until she saw ice, who waved her over from the far end of the living room—half-sitting on the arm of the couch between azzi and aaliyah, paige perched beside them, a red cup in hand, her blond hair tucked behind one ear.
“look who finally decided to grace us with her presence,” ice said, reaching to dab her up. “you smell like men’s cologne.”
ari rolled her eyes and laughed, pulling her sleeves down over her hands. “please don’t start. it’s too loud for your judgment.”
at the sound of her voice, paige’s gaze flicked upward. sharp at first. then slower, deliberate. her eyes traced the hoodie, hung loose off ari’s frame, the familiar swoop of jaylen’s name embroidered near the wrist. her jaw tensed for half a second.
“new look?” paige asked, tone airy, casual. too casual.
ari shrugged, standing a little taller. “borrowed it.”
“mm,” paige hummed, sipping. “it’s big. real cozy.”
“that’s kinda the point,” ari said. her voice was light too, but there was an edge to it. the hoodie was suddenly warmer than it needed to be.
paige tilted her cup. “guess i’ll have to step my hoodie game up.”
ari tilted her head right back, smiling without smiling. “don’t worry, you’ve already got the icy glare down.”
aaliyah cracked up immediately. azzi followed, amused and watching them like a hawk. ice muttered something under her breath.
“you two need a timeout.”
“i’m fine,” paige said, still smiling, but the smile didn’t quite land in her eyes.
ari glanced at her, took in the set of her jaw, the grip on the cup. something coiled quietly in her chest—tight and familiar.
then, across the room, jaylen waved. he was posted up near the kitchen, talking to two football players and a girl from track, but his focus was on her now. his arm lifted in a lazy arc, beckoning.
ari hesitated. just for a second. enough to feel paige still watching her, like her stare had weight. like it left a mark.
“back in a sec,” ari said to ice, then to no one in particular.
she slid through the crowd, brushing shoulders and dodging limbs, until she reached him.
jaylen grinned, leaning in to be heard. “there she is.”
he handed her a red cup—cold and sweating. then, without asking, he let his arm settle low around her waist, fingers hooking slightly in the hem of his own hoodie. ari didn’t pull away.
“you look good,” he said, voice low in her ear.
“i’m literally wearing your hoodie.”
“exactly,” he said, smug and unbothered.
ari rolled her eyes but smiled anyway, sipping the drink just to have something to do. her mind, traitorously, still tugged at that moment earlier. the way paige had looked at her. like something burned just beneath her skin.
“you cool with being seen with me?” jaylen asked after a beat, dropping his voice. it wasn’t playful this time. it was… curious. serious.
ari blinked. “why wouldn’t i be?”
jaylen shrugged. “some people like to keep things quiet. private. temporary.”
she exhaled, careful not to sigh. “i’m not hiding you. besdies it’s just… casual, right?”
he studied her and then nodded. “right. casual.”
jaylen accepted that answer with a slow, unreadable nod. but his hand stayed where it was, just a little too long on her hip. and she let it. because it was easier. easier than chasing the ghost of something that felt more complicated. easier than asking herself why blue eyes and knowing smirks kept creeping into her head.
because if she was smart, she’d leave whatever that was alone.
for ice.
for herself.
and because if paige really cared, she wouldn’t just watch from across the room.
she’d say something.
──────────────────────
a little later, ice pulled ari aside near the kitchen, away from the music and the crowd. the bass from the speakers still thudded through the floor, but here, under the yellow-tinted light, it felt quieter. closer.
“yo,” ice said, her voice low but pointed, eyes locked on ari’s face like she was trying to read every flicker that passed through it. “can i ask you something?”
ari leaned back against the counter, playing it casual even as her heart kicked up a notch. “yeah. what’s up?”
ice shifted her weight, glancing once toward the living room, where paige sat on the couch with azzi, barely nodding along to whatever was being said. her body was there, but she looked a million miles away. “has paige said anything to you lately?”
ari blinked. “about what?”
“i don’t know,” ice said, dragging a hand through her curls. “just… something’s off. she’s been weird the past week. not in a bad mood, exactly. just… different. quiet. distracted. snappy in practice.”
ari swallowed, the knot already forming in her stomach tightening. she forced her tone light. “maybe she’s just tired. school’s been heavy.”
ice gave her a look. “you know tired paige and this ain’t that. i asked azzi, she said she’s fine, but azzi is paige’s best friend so she probably won’t say anything. i know paige—when she’s spiraling, she doesn’t talk. she shuts down, starts holding everything in like it’s a sport.”
ari nodded slowly, keeping her gaze trained on the sink behind ice. “i mean… maybe she’s just in her head. the season is abt to start, all that pressure.”
“maybe,” ice said. then her voice dropped lower. “i just thought maybe you’d know. you two were getting kinda close for a minute.”
ari let out a short laugh that didn’t sound quite right to her own ears. “not as much lately. but… yeah i don’t know what’s up with her.”
“mhmm.” ice tilted her head. “you sure? cause you say it like you’re trying to convince yourself.”
that made ari look up. “what’s that supposed to mean?”
ice raised a hand. “relax. i’m not accusing you of anything. just… asking. feels like something shifted. and i know how paige gets i just wanted to make sure everything is okay.”
ari hesitated. her mouth opened, then closed again. she could’ve said a lot of things—some true, most carefully edited. instead, she said, “maybe she’s mad about something else.”
ice squinted slightly. “like you and jaylen?”
ari froze for half a second, then shook her head with a forced chuckle. “no. come on. she doesn’t care about that. it’s not even serious between him and i.”
“still,” ice said, eyes narrowing. “it’s not nothing either. you wearing his hoodie like it’s your damn uniform.”
“i’m just comfortable,” ari muttered, voice tight around the edges now. “that’s all it is.”
ice held her stare for a beat longer before letting it go with a sigh. “alright. maybe it’s nothing. just…if she says anything let me know, okay? she’s not saying what’s wrong, and it’s not like she ever makes it easy to figure her out.”
ari nodded, the guilt sitting heavier now. “yeah. i’ll keep an eye.”
ice gave her a lingering look—equal parts warning and care—then bumped her shoulder. “i’m watching both of y’all.”
“i know,” ari said, smiling faintly.
but it didn’t reach her eyes.
──────────────────────
ari’s gets back to her dorm late.
the party was still echoing faintly in her ears when she shut the door behind her. quiet finally settled like dust around her. ari tossed jaylen’s hoodie on the back of her desk chair, put her curls into a bun, and dropped onto the edge of her bed.
her room was dim, lit only by the soft glow of her desk lam. she sat there for a moment, elbows on knees, fingers laced together.
she wasn’t supposed to feel this confused.
this was supposed to be easy.
jaylen made it easy—charming, chill, low-stakes. he said the right things, made her laugh, knew how to carry a conversation without trying too hard. and he liked her. that part was clear.
so why did it feel like something was missing?
ari leaned back against the wall, eyes drifting toward the hoodie now slouched over her chair.
she’d caught paige’s expression tonight—
just for a second, but it was enough. the way her eyes had skimmed over the hoodie like it burned. the quiet little dig in her voice. the forced smile.
that wasn’t nothing.
and ice asking if she’d noticed anything? if paige was “off?”
off didn’t even begin to cover it.
ari rubbed a hand over her face.
maybe she got it wrong.
maybe paige did care more than she thought. more than paige was willing to admit. and maybe that look—like something bitter had lodged itself behind her ribs—wasn’t about the hoodie at all. maybe it was about her.
and maybe that’s what made this so damn messy.
because if paige did care…
if any of the flirting, the lingering glances, the quiet moments between them meant something—then why didn’t she say anything? why did it feel like crossing those lines meant trouble?
ari exhaled, leaning her head against the wall.
“this wasn’t supposed to be complicated,” she mumbled out loud, voice hoarse.
she liked jaylen. she did. he was attractive. he was cool. he was into her. he wasn’t afraid to show it. but even in the middle of a party, his arm around her waist, laughing into her ear—her mind still drifted. to blue eyes and crooked smiles. to that annoying, sharp-tongued charm paige always carried like a weapon and a gift.
it wasn’t fair.
not to jaylen. not to herself.
but she couldn’t shake the thought that maybe this—this back and forth, this quiet longing—was safer. easier than diving headfirst into something real with someone like paige. especially when ice was watching, always watching, ready to check her if she stepped out of line.
ice.
the reason she held back.
the reason she kept telling herself that paige didn’t mean anything more than just a friend. that whatever was between them was fleeting.
maybe this thing with jaylen was a buffer. a way to keep herself from falling too deep into something she couldn’t control. something that might hurt more than it helped.
maybe it was better this way.
she told herself that. over and over again.
but god, it was starting to feel like a lie.

wingman - luke skywalker x reader
chapter one, chapter two, chapter three, chapter four
chapter five -> the apartment
your university roommate han solo finds a rival (and love interest) in student council president leia skywalker, but both of them are too stubborn to admit that they have feelings for each other. luckily, you and her twin brother, luke, devise a plan to get the two of them to spend more time together. challenges arise, however, when you start to develop a crush on him.
chapter warnings: sexual humor, alcohol mentioned, injuries and violence mentioned
a/n: anidala cameo to make up for the angst in the last chapter hehe
Their apartment was, of course, luxurious. Pristine floors, large windows, and sleek, modern appliances—it was the total opposite of the outdated home you shared with Han and Chewie. There was even a balcony with a hot tub. You were speechless. Still, it was small enough to feel cozy, which you’re sure their actual home wasn’t, so you were grateful to be in this space instead.
“The decorations aren’t as cute as yours,” Leia said, watching you gawk at the apartment, “But this is where we live.”
“It’s beautiful,” you told her, taking everything in.
“Thank you. You’re welcome to have anything in the fridge or pantry. We have a spare bedroom that we use as an office space, but there’s a daybed in there too.”
You nodded, glad that you would at least have a little bit of your own space.
“You can use my shower,” she offered, “It’s connected to my room. You can borrow a fresh set of pajamas too.”
You smiled, incredibly grateful for her hospitality.
“Thank you so much. I really appreciate this, guys,” you said seriously, hoping they understood how much their kindness meant to you. You weren’t always good at expressing deep emotions, but you tried to make your gratitude as evident as you could.
Showering had been nice. The dirt was cleansed from your open cuts, and your aching muscles relaxed some under the warm spray of water. The soap that Leia was letting you use smelled great, and the pajamas she’d given you were comfortable silk. When you walked back into the living room, Luke was baking cookies, giving you a small wave.
“Should you be baking with a concussion?” you asked, though the delicious smell had already infiltrated your senses and made you believe that this was a good idea.
“They never told me not to,” he replied, shrugging, “You look so cozy.”
You chuckled a bit, looking down at your sleepwear and the warm, wool socks she’d left out for you. When you looked back up, you noticed that Luke’s hair was also damp, and he was wearing a pair of pajama pants and a loose fitting t-shirt. Something about seeing him like this made you feel warm.
“So do you. I’ve only ever seen you in slacks and nice sweaters.”
“Oh? You don’t like my slacks and nice sweaters?” he pretended to pout, leaning over the counter to talk to you.
You did like his usual attire. He managed to look soft and stylish at the same time, an air of elegance always surrounding him. But seeing him like this—he just looked so warm. You wanted to fall asleep next to him.
“I never said that. Just that you look different like this.”
“Different? Like, bad different?”
“No!” you said quickly, scrambling to correct yourself, “Definitely not.”
When he quirked his eyebrow at you, you realized that he’d just been messing with you the entire time. You blushed and looked away, only to be surprised when he hooked a finger under your chin and gently pushed upwards, urging you to meet his eyes.
“Sorry,” he said, grinning at you, “I just like teasing you.”
“I can tell,” you huffed, pulling his hand away from your chin, though you continued gripping his wrist, “Making fun of me after all I’ve been through today. How sinister.”
He giggled, and if you weren’t so exhausted from the events of the day, you might have tried to pull that sound from him again. It was just so perfect.
“My bad,” he replied, smiling at you, “I’ll make it up to you. I’m making cookies, y’know.”
“With a concussion, yes. I can see that.”
Just then, Leia came barreling out of her room, looking stressed and tired, holding her cell phone up to her ear.
“It’s them,” she said, pointing to her phone, “They want me to FaceTime them so they can see that you’re okay.”
Luke’s grimace was amusing, but you felt anxious that you’d show up in the frame. You heard the familiar sound of the phone call switching to video, and you couldn’t believe that you were about to hear the senator and her movie star husband scold their kids. Leia flipped the camera and pointed it at Luke, who offered a small wave.
“Hi Mom,” he said tiredly.
“Hi, Luke,” you heard his mother say, “I’m glad you’re okay. Your father is on his way home, so I’d say that you have a few minutes to explain yourself to me before he gets here.”
Leia handed him the phone, and he flipped the camera back around to front-facing. From where he was leaning over the counter, you could make out his mother’s face. You’d seen her on television before, but never in the comfort of her own home, and yet she was still incredibly beautiful.
“Great,” he mumbled, sighing, “Well, basically I—“
“Padme!” you heard someone shout on the other line, the sound of the door swinging open audible to you as well, “Luke—“
“Ani, he’s on the phone,” she told him, and you heard him approach.
When Anakin came into view, you were equally as stunned. You’d never seen his movie, but he certainly had the face for Hollywood, having aged like fine wine. No wonder directors wanted to get their hands on him.
“Tell us what happened,” Anakin demanded, and you watched as he placed a quick kiss on Padme’s forehead, a silent greeting to her upon his return home. Cute.
“Someone attacked my friends, so I stepped in. And I had other people with me,” Luke explained.
“So it wasn’t just a bunch of drunk college kids fighting over something stupid?” Padme asked, seemingly surprised.
“What? When have you ever known me to just start fighting people for the hell of it?”
“We thought you could’ve been going through something,” Padme said, and you had to stifle a giggle. Their concern for him was precious, and their willingness to try to understand his actions even before getting an explanation out of him showed how much they trusted their children. You briefly wondered what Han would say upon realizing that the Skywalkers might actually be perfect, and that their facade as a happy family was hardly a facade at all.
“No,” Luke protested, already over this conversation, “I’m not—it wasn’t a dumb bar fight. There were like, adults your age there.”
“What?” Padme exclaimed, her concern growing, “Adults were beating up students? Why?”
“Who were they?” Anakin added, frowning.
“I don’t know, but they were beating the hell out of my friend, and then they were restraining my other friend, and we heard someone scream, so we ran outside.”
“Did you talk to the police?”
“Yes, Mom.”
“You have a black eye. Are those stitches?”
“Yes, Mom.”
“Do you have any other injuries?”
“No, Mom.”
“Leia, does Luke have any other injuries?” she asked again.
“Concussion and bruised ribs,” Leia confessed, shooting Luke an apologetic look.
“Did you land any hits on the other guys?” Anakin asked, speaking for the first time in a while.
“Anakin!” Padme chided.
“What? Self defense is important.”
“A couple, yeah,” Luke said sheepishly, scratching the back of his neck.
“Nice.”
“Anakin.”
“Fine,” he huffed, and you could see him cross his arms. So that’s where the twins got their attitude from, you supposed.
“Are your friends okay?” she asked, and her concern for others made you like her a little more.
“One is in the hospital, and the other is spending the night here,” Luke said, moving the camera slightly to get you in frame. You weren’t expecting to meet the Skywalkers today, and you hoped you didn’t look too rough.
“Hello,” you greeted them politely, giving them a wave.
“Hello, sweetie! I’m so sorry to hear about what happened tonight. If there’s anything we can do for you, please just let us know,” Padme offered, giving you a warm, beautiful smile, much like her son’s.
“Thank you,” you replied, surprised by her sincerity, “Your kids have already done so much for me.”
“That’s good to hear,” she said happily, smiling at you again. Anakin nodded, grinning a bit. He looked proud. You wondered if he might say as much.
“Ben’s in the state on business. We’re sending him to check up on you soon,” he said instead, Leia and Luke groaning in response.
“Don’t be like that,” Padme scolded, “You love Ben.”
“Not when he’s coming for the sole purpose of admonishing me,” Luke mumbled, “It’s really not necessary. Leia and I have each other. We’re more than capable of taking care of ourselves.”
“But you’re still young, honey,” Padme said, “And we’re your parents. We’re supposed to worry about you and then make sure you’re okay when something goes wrong.”
You were beginning to envy the relationship the twins shared with their parents. Han and Chewie were the only family you had. The thought of them made your heart sink, and you longed to be in the emergency room with them, at Han’s side like you always had been. But since you didn’t know how long he’d be there, taking shifts with Chewie so you could both have the chance to rest wasn’t a bad idea, not to mention the fact that the events of the day had left you extremely rattled.
“I promise we’re fine. Besides, we’ll be busy tomorrow. We have to check on our other friend who hasn’t made it out of the hospital yet.”
Their faces fell, and their eyes were sad. Padme’s tone softened.
“I’m sorry, honey,” she said gently, “Please let us know if there’s anything we can do.”
“I will,” Luke agreed, tone becoming lighter at their kindness, “I promise. I’m not supposed to look at my phone very much with my concussion, but I’ll text you when I can.”
“And FaceTime us so we can see you.”
“If I have time,” he pushed back a little, and you saw Anakin roll his eyes.
“Leia, make sure Luke does everything the doctor told him to,” Anakin added.
“I’m a grown man,” Luke complained, a slight pout tugging at his lips.
“You push your body way too hard sometimes, Luke. You’re like your father.”
“I’m a student athlete.”
“Do not go to practice with a concussion,” Anakin told him, his voice sounding serious but also the tiniest bit amused.
“I won’t,” Luke promised, and you wanted to laugh at his attempt to defend himself. He looked exhausted.
“He’s not stupid, Dad,” Leia added with a bored sigh.
“I know he’s not,” Anakin agreed, “But do you remember when he pretended not to have the flu so he could play in the last home game of the season? Or when he played with a fractured elbow?”
Luke sighed and buried his head in his hands. He exhaled and looked up again, glaring at his parents through the screen.
“I was in high school,” he countered, “You seriously don’t have to worry. I promise I’ll take care of myself.”
“Okay,” Anakin said reluctantly, “But seriously. Keep us updated on how you’re doing.”
“I will,” Luke replied slowly, emphasizing the word as much as he could.
“We’ll let you go then. I’m sure you must be tired. It was nice to meet you, dear,” Padme said, waving at you, “And I meant what I said before. Please let us know if we can do anything for you.”
You waved back and muttered a small thanks, Leia taking her phone back, and the twins bid their parents goodbye. When the call ended, Leia sighed and looked at Luke.
“Dad’s press tour is soon,” she announced, her meaning not quite clear to you.
“I know,” Luke grumbled, turning to take the cookies out of the oven, “And I look like this.”
“Maybe it won’t be so bad,” she added, “I mean, the school is private property. No one will be able to take your picture there.”
“What’re you guys talking about?” you finally asked.
“Dad will be getting a lot of press for his new movie, which means the rest of the family will be getting a lot of press, too. And now Luke has clearly been hit. So if people didn’t have questions about the local headlines that have already started emerging, they certainly will once the paparazzi publishes a photo of his fucked up face,” Leia explained, worming her way behind the counter.
“Hey!” he exclaimed, swatting her arm once he put the cookie tray down, “Do I really look that bad?”
“No!” you said quickly, Leia huffing out a “Yes!” at the same time. Luke turned to look at you with a grin.
“Yeah?” he asked sweetly, leaning over the island again to stare you directly in the eye, “Thanks. I’m glad someone here thinks highly of me.”
“Gross,” she mumbled, grabbing a bottle of wine and a glass.
He offered you a cookie then, and you hummed happily when you took a bite. They were magnificent.
“These are great,” you told him, and he beamed at you, “Thanks for baking.”
“Underneath that student athlete facade, Luke’s quite the housewife. He’s a good baker, and he sews too. I’m surprised he hasn’t started brewing his bedtime tea yet, but I bet he’s probably too embarrassed because you’re here—“ Leia teased, Luke cutting her off.
“Why is everyone shitting on me today?” he whined, snagging the bottle out of his sister’s hand and pouring himself some wine.
“You shouldn’t be drinking with a concussion.”
“The only reason my head is hurting is you,” he retaliated, though you could tell that his tone was still playful. Leia chuckled quietly to herself and stole a cookie.
“The daybed is set up for you. I put clean sheets on it,” she told you, smiling.
“You didn’t have to make the bed for me,” you replied, the kind gesture making you feel warm.
“Don’t be ridiculous,” she said, echoing Luke earlier, “You’re our guest.”
“Well, thank you,” you replied sincerely, “It means a lot. I didn’t really wanna be alone tonight, if I’m honest.”
Leia nodded sympathetically, picking up her now full wine glass and sighing.
“I’m gonna take a bath and go to bed. If you need anything at all, don’t hesitate to wake me,” she said before turning to Luke, “And you better not drink too much wine with that concussion. I’ll tell Mom and Dad.”
“Dad would do the same thing,” he scoffed, “Go to bed and stop worrying over me.”
“It’s hard not to worry over you. You should go to bed.”
“Later,” he told her, “I just got the shit beat out of me. I’m having an adrenaline rush.”
She rolled her eyes and lightly smacked his arm, the gesture undoubtedly affectionate in nature.
“Be nice to our guest,” she ordered, fixing him with a stern look.
“Oh, I intend to,” he replied with a smug grin.
“Don’t be gross. Goodnight, guys.”
He giggled as she left the room, his eyes following her until she shut the bedroom door. When she was gone, he turned his focus back to you.
“Do you want to go to sleep?” he asked, his voice gentle.
“I feel like I should, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to. I’m still—I don’t know. I know I’m safe here with you guys, I just—“
“It’s okay,” he said, surprising you by reaching over the island countertop and grabbing your hand, “I understand. We can stay up and watch movies, if you want.”
“Oh, you don’t have to stay up with me, Luke. And you shouldn’t be looking at screens, remember?”
“I want to. Show me some of your favorites.”
“Han warned you about that. I’m gonna talk your ear off.”
“I know,” he replied with a soft smile, “I want you to. And the more you talk, the less I have to look at the screen. Sounds good to me.”
Your face flushed. Who were you to turn down the opportunity to ramble to a gorgeous young man about your interests? You’d had a hard day, after all.
Nodding, you followed him into the living room, carrying the plate of cookies and two glasses of wine with you.
─── ・ 。゚☆: .☽ . :☆゚. ───
You woke up a few hours later with a sharp pain in your neck and something hard pressing into your cheek. Confused and disoriented, you sat up slightly, only to realize that the culprit behind your awkward sleeping position had been Luke Skywalker himself. As the realization that you had fallen asleep on his shoulder dawned on you, you felt your stomach sink. Maybe he wasn’t awake. Maybe slumber had grasped him first, and he hadn’t even noticed—
“Hey,” he whispered, voice raspy. He must have fallen asleep too, but unfortunately for you, he was acutely aware of your position.
“Hi,” you replied, your nerves running wild as you finally forced yourself to look up and meet his stare. He looked at you through eyes that were only half open, but his gentle smile told you that he was awake enough to understand the implications of your proximity.
“Guess we fell asleep,” he said, “We should try to watch this movie again. Like, under normal circumstances.”
You giggled, humming in agreement. Your thighs were still touching, and your side was pressed up against his arm. You were surprised that he didn’t move away from you.
“Wanna go to bed?” he asked, shifting so that he was turned more towards you.
“Guess I should,” you murmured, avoiding his eyes now, “I’m sorry that I fell asleep on you.”
“Don’t be sorry. I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but I’m a pretty big fan of physical affection.”
You laughed again, grateful that he was more casual about these things than you were. You hoped that he couldn’t sense your nerves.
“None of my friends are like that. I think Han has probably hugged me three times since I’ve known him.”
“He touches your hair,” Luke pointed out, and you were caught off guard by the fact that he’d picked up on that detail, because you were pretty sure that Luke had never actually been around when Han had done that.
“What?” you blurted, the exhaustion adding to your confusion, “How do you know that?”
Luke seemed caught off guard by that question, and in the dim light of the living room, you could barely see a faint blush begin to spread across his cheeks.
“He messes up your hair. Like, he ruffles it. I don’t know. I saw him do it once,” he mumbled, suddenly very focused on the rug.
“You were watching me,” you realized, lips curling into a mischievous grin, “At the bar after I left you and your friends. That’s the only time you could’ve seen it.”
“So?” he replied, and something about genuinely making Luke Skywalker feel embarrassed made you giddy.
“Don’t tell me you’re starting to buy into your own lie, Luke,” you teased, poking his side.
This time, he sat up all the way, his eyes no longer clouded by sleep. He put some space in between you and suddenly stood. The abruptness startled you in your tired state, and before you could inquire about what was up with that reaction, he had already regained his composure.
“Come on,” he said softly, folding the blanket the two of you had been sharing and looking everywhere but your eyes, “You need to sleep. In a bed.”
You cocked your head a little, trying to meet his gaze. When you finally succeeded, you weren’t able to read the look in his eyes, so you just stood and resigned yourself to being agreeable.
“So should you,” you replied, touching his arm gently, “I’m really sorry about today, Luke. I never wanted you to get hurt by hanging out with me. I promise that stuff like that doesn’t usually happen. Usually, the most danger we’re ever in is when Han and Chewie hotbox the van.”
“You don’t have anything to be sorry for. I’m not sure exactly what happened, but you guys are good people. I don’t regret defending you.”
“Thank you,” you told him, hoping your face reflected your sincerity, “You guys are really sweet. Your parents, too. I hope they don’t think I’m a bad influence or something.”
Luke laughed quietly at that, shaking his head.
“No way. My dad’s a worse influence than you are,” he replied, “But really. You don’t need to thank me. I wish I could’ve done more than just land a couple of hits on him, but to be honest, I’m not much of a fighter.”
“You were really good at it,” you noted, recalling how agile he was, “It was impressive.”
“Yeah?” he asked in that flirty voice of his, though now it was still slightly raspy, “I mean, I know how to fight. I just don’t like doing it.”
“Why do you know how?” you blurted, your exhaustion doing a bit of damage to your filter.
“I’ll tell you another time. You should really be getting some sleep.”
You rolled your eyes at him, but didn’t protest. He was kind enough to walk you to the spare bedroom, offering you a small smile as he told you goodnight.
“Wake me up if you need anything, okay?” he added softly.
You stood toe to toe, close enough to kiss, but neither of you made a move to even touch each other. It felt too intimate, too real.
“Sure,” you whispered, staring at him, “Night, Luke.”
With that, he walked away, shutting the door behind him. You crawled into the daybed and turned your ringer all the way up in case Chewie called. You hoped that sleep would find you easily.

You woke up to your phone dinging, signaling an influx of incoming texts. You blinked the sleep away from your eyes and immediately checked it.

You breathed out a sigh of relief at the knowledge that Han was doing okay, despite the medication needed for his injuries. You sent a quick text back to Chewie to let him know that you were at the Skywalker residence, which was still a rather surprising turn of events for you. Just then, you inhaled the sweet scent of lavender, and when you turned your head, you saw a cup of tea on your night stand.
You immediately knew it was Luke who had brewed it for you. The kind gesture made your heart flutter a bit, but you tried not to think about the implications of that as you took a sip. Still warm. You gave yourself a moment to relish in the peaceful atmosphere, sunlight peaking through the blinds and silky pajamas hugging your skin. After finishing your tea, you got out of bed, fixing the covers and walking into the kitchen. Upon entering, you were immediately greeted by the bickering of the twins.
“You’re doing it wrong,” Luke complained, hovering behind Leia as she stood over the stove.
“I’m capable of making eggs, Luke,” she snapped.
“Apparently not, because you aren’t even adding anything. You can’t just scramble them. It’s so easy to just—“
“Well, when you don’t have a concussion, you’re more than welcome to cook for yourself. For now you should just shut up and be grateful.”
“I can cook just fine. I baked last night. I made tea this morning—“
“And you shouldn’t have done any of that! And I can’t believe you were watching movies last night. You need at least a day of rest, Luke. You can gradually start doing daily tasks again after that, but you shouldn’t be thinking too hard or looking at screens yet.”
“You’re asking me not to think. That’s impossible.”
“Is it really? It seems to me like you hardly ever think about anything—“
“Good morning,” you said, clearing your throat and announcing your presence before they could continue.
“Good morning,” Leia replied, turning to you, “I’m making breakfast right now, but Luke keeps micromanaging me. Did you sleep well?”
“I slept great! Thanks again for setting up the room for me. And I can see that,” you noted, feeling bold as you came up behind Luke and squeezed his waist with your good hand, “Sit down, Luke. You should be relaxing.“
He turned sharply at that, eyes wide for a split second before regaining his composure. Your flirting had started to evolve into a competition of sorts, as you felt determined to catch him off guard now. So far, he was beating you, but you tried not to let him see that. You watched as his momentary surprise was quickly replaced by the expression he wore when he was about to say something out of pocket to you, his eyes slightly lidded and mischief written all over his face.
“I’ll sit down if you sit on my lap,” he offered, smiling at you innocently.
“Luke,” Leia groaned, turning around and glaring at him, “Chill out. It’s ten in the morning. If your ribs weren’t bruised, I would hit you.”
“Where’s your sense of humor?” he huffed, relenting as he went to the other side of the kitchen island and took a seat in one of the barstools, turning to you, “Will you sit next to me, at least?”
“If you can behave,” you told him, taking the stool next to him.
“Oh? And if I don’t? Gonna punish m—“
“Luke!” Leia hissed, slamming her spatula onto the counter and turning to him, “Did you lose brain cells when you hit your head? Shut the fuck up. Oh my god.”
“You’re no fun,” he pouted, sighing dramatically, “How do you expect me to act when you’ve got me on house arrest? I can’t even watch TV.”
“Aren’t you tired?” you asked him, stepping in to deescalate their bickering before it turned into an actual argument, “It was a long night. And you got hurt.”
“I feel fine,” he protested, but the smile he gave you didn’t reach his eyes. Leia shook her head disapprovingly and turned her attention back to the stove, sighing as she often did.
You frowned, not really a fan of whatever fake confidence he was trying to offer you, and without thinking, placed a hand on his knee. He flinched slightly, and then tried to cover that up with a smile too, but you didn’t return it, instead just keeping your hand there as a gentle reminder that you saw him. His cheeks flushed slightly, but he didn’t move away from you, and resumed a more normal conversation with you and Leia as she prepared the food. Occasionally, you would gently rub patterns into his knee, and when you felt him continue to relax underneath your touch, you felt like you had finally figured something out about him. You recalled his offhand comment about enjoying physical affection, and you realized that offering him reassuring touches here and there was probably comforting for him. You filed that information away as your thumb traced circles into his skin, noting that his eyelashes would flutter every now and then and he’d sit up a little straighter to shake himself awake. Had he slept at all?
“Here, eat,” Leia commanded as she placed two plates down in front of you and Luke. You saw him give you a sideways glance when you removed your hand from his knee, the cast on your other arm demanding that you only use your hand for one task at a time. He said nothing though, and was content to eat quietly.
“When you’re feeling up to it, we can have our driver take you to the hospital to visit Han,” Leia offered, pouring a glass of orange juice for you, “Just let me know. We can also get you back to your apartment, but you’re more than welcome to stay with us for the next few days while you all are getting back on your feet.”
Luke looked right at you then, though his expression was unreadable to you. Not quite sure what the meaning behind his stare was, you felt a little self conscious, and turned your gaze back to Leia quickly.
“Thank you so much,” you told her sincerely, “I’m okay to go back to my place tonight though. You all have already been so kind and hospitable. I don’t want to overstay my welcome. But I might take you up on the ride.”
“You wouldn’t be overstaying your welcome,” she insisted, “But I don’t want to pressure you. Let me know if you change your mind.”
With that, she handed you her phone, and you put your contact information in. Luke remained silent for the entire ordeal. It was starting to unnerve you. Perhaps he wanted you out of his apartment so he could finally get some rest. With a newfound determination to not be a nuisance to the Skywalkers any longer, you hurried through your breakfast and helped Leia clean up. At some point, Luke had disappeared back into his room, and although you felt slightly affronted, you pushed those emotions to the back of your mind for the time being. The change in his demeanor was giving you whiplash, but there was no way that you’d be able to sort through his thoughts.
“Text or call if you need anything,” she insisted, standing at the doorway to see you off, “And if you wouldn’t mind keeping me updated on how Han’s doing…”
“Of course,” you told her, your heart warming a bit at her concern for him, “Tell Luke I said bye.”
Her face fell slightly at that, and she placed her hands on her hips, glaring at the closed door of his room.
“I’m sorry that he’s being weird,” she said, sighing, “I think he’s trying to act tough because he’s shaken up about last night. He’s really sensitive.”
“Really?” you blurted, surprised that she would use such a word to describe him. The Luke you knew was sensitive to your feelings, sure, but he didn’t seem to be all that emotional himself.
“Yeah,” she replied, smiling softly, “He pretends like he isn’t, especially around those dicks he calls his friends, but he gets worked up about things—anxious, I guess.”
“I met them last night.”
“Really? How’d that go?”
“I threatened to hit one of them,” you admitted sheepishly, “But they were fine after that. They were pretty helpful in the fight, actually.”
“You threatened to hit them? You should’ve done it,” she said excitedly, beaming at you, “But yeah, I’ll give credit where it’s due. Although, I still think they only joined in because they wanted to say they won a bar fight.”
“And because they worship Luke,” you added, recalling how they followed him around all night.
“It’s weird, right? He doesn’t even realize it.”
“It’s really weird, but it’s kind of funny, especially because he doesn’t realize it.”
She laughed, and then surprised you by pulling you into a gentle hug.
“I’m glad you guys are getting to know each other better. I think you’re good for him,” she said seriously.
Her words made you feel guilty, as you weren’t quite sure how much of your relationship with Luke was genuine. Still, you nodded in agreement, forcing a smile.
Feeling confused and a bit forlorn, you departed from the Skywalker residence.
