Arcane Spoilers
I honestly thought it was so funny when Viktor revealed Sky was killed by hex core and Jayce was just like "what... aw, no :/" like bro forgot Sky even existed after she's been missing for god knows how long.

Natlan could have been so much better if there was an actual emotional component that gave the audience some shock value and some actual concern for the main cast. Not even the main cast seems to care about the main cast how can you expect the players to gaf

Season 2 of Arcane is making me realize that Jayce was a really good character that was hamstrung by very few character interactions outside of Viktor and Mel last season. Yes, please put that sad bisexual with good intentions, poor judgement skills, and huge muscles in MORE situations.

people tell me that andrealphus and stella are bad antagonists because they're cartoonishly over the top evil, which whole ass ignores how fucking evil rich people, especially rich politicians can be in real life. we are literally living through the diamond mine guy presidency through the orange man because the balding diamond mine guy got angry about trans people telling one of his now ex wives how much he sucks. to say that they're bad characters for that reason is just ignoring reality at that point

do you feel like buster bros is behind the other divisions in terms of character development? not that im saying didnt get anything at all, im just seeing other people complain that theres still a lot of questions left unanswered (like as to why ichiro wants nothing to do with rei/why he lied about rei to jiro and saburo in the first place)
y’know, i’d love to like, hear why this is a common thought about bb honestly. bc what you just used as examples are proof there’s still more to the yamada story despite all that we’ve been shown and further plot developments aren’t a bad thing????
like sure we don’t know why rei left his kids behind yet, but he did and that at its base, ignoring whatever mystery is left between rei and ichiro about nayuta, is enough to justify ichiro taking himself and his bros to an orphanage; they needed to be able to survive. why should ichiro tell his bros the father who left them is alive when he, in ichiro’s eyes, didn’t want anything more to do with them????
Tumblr media
the orphanage director at the time was like a father to the bros, by ichiro’s words, so when ichiro’s inevitably betrayed by all parties around him and loses his brother’s trust in the process, he begins to only trust himself and that’s the crux of everything bb has gone thru since the start of the series; ichiro believes only in himself has a hard time placing trust in others and it’s dragged down everyone around him. my generation, the recent bb track, put a close to this particular arc for the bros, ichiro’s willing to let go and they can all further flourish. and that’s just ichiro’s arc, we can go all day about the inherited issues and how ichiro passed a lot of those hang ups to his brothers that they’ve been working themselves to unpack and unlearn (jiro not relying on others, saburo’s performance anxiety, etc)
and why just bb???? 😭😭😭😭 we’re getting an entire play to talk about juto’s backstory bc that is something that hasn’t been expanded upon, we don’t know the origins of the ramuda project or what exactly happened to niitaro, yotsutsuji still isn’t awake, neither is nayuta and kuukou arguably has the most unexplored background of the leaders at the very least. so why does bb get the flack for ‘lack of character development’ based on unknowns that the story’s just taking its sweet time getting to???

WORST part of replaying this game. Is that i actually *have* to progress through (most of) it to see Kerry again... Like having to wade through little chocolate gold colds to get to the real shit that ACTUALLY matters.
It actually sucks you meet him so late in the game and only get so much time with him :( especially because I (personally) find his romance and plotline to be one of the more developed slash more enjoyable ones and I just :( wish they gave us more time with him ugh I jUST MISS HIM OKAY GUYS I MISS THIS OLD MAN!!!
#if i *HAD* to rank the romances the fate of my first born on the line here#I'd have to say Judy then Kerry then Panam and... unsurprisingly... River (they did him the dirtiest yall 😭)#judy because hers is not only so well developed#but also actually extremely extremely vital to the main storyline unlike the others and ties into the plot really well#kerrys is also kinda important to the storyline in the way its legit just kinda a johnny side mission#especially if you want that extra percentage towards yalls relationship to unlock some of the endings slash dialogue#and panams does feel like it kinda strays from the main storyline but you do meet her because of it (going 2 find rogue for the first time)#so it still ties in well enough#but river.... oh my boy how they didn't even give you a chance to run before walking.....#he just feels so disconnected from the rest of the story... which couldve worked!#it wouldve been fun to let V have relationships and interactions that didnt just revolve around the fact they were dying#river couldve been that respite for them that break away from reality that safeplace for V to just.. take a breather from hit after hit#after disastrous blow as gods own personal chew toy that game made them out to be#it couldve worked! so well! but its the fact you can FEEL how underdeveloped he and his plotline (as a character even)#how rushed it is. how they didnt put the same care and love into him as they did for judys and kerrys story#how they gutted HIS ROMANCE FROM THE POTENTIAL ONE THAT WAS PLANNED HAD WITH TAKEMURA#lik he isnt even his own character but this character stitched 2gether frm scraps of others they didnt have time or energy to fully develop#i feel so bad everytime people talk about how much they hate him and his plotline bc its not his fault guys#hes a victim of cdprs poor planning and writing 😭#like im sorry man but it was kinda a stark slap in the fucking face to going from rescuing his nephew from a fucking trafficking ring...#and the next literal mission we're macking up on the tower overlooking the trailer park#like that shit felt so forced 😭😭😭 where was the natural progression????#the chemistry besides a few offhand comments frm fanily shoved in 2 seconds before the tower 2 force it 2 make sense???#WHERE WAS THE FLIRTY DIALOGUE WITH THE OTHERS???#girl if he told me if i wanted to join him in bed like KERRY had the 1st time we met#bitch u know i would've been crawling on my knees like a DOG jumping str8 up onto that bed#LMAO anyway lost the plot this was a post about Kerry and i guess it kinda still is i just 💚 rambling in the safety of tags#cyberpunk 2077#kerry eurodyne#ult speaking

i just think a "friended/romanced + saved + trust aj" violet does such a good job rounding out the plot and characters of S4 and i dont say that lightly
she walls people off out of fear just like S3 clem did and learned to grow out of through the compassion of others. feeling like she could have done more to save minnie being what initially makes her step up to lead, but her accepting her love for clem (and clem choosing to save her) is what leads to her Truly accepting the school and everyone inside it as her Home and gives her something to fight for ("i tried my damnedest not to care about either of you. and i still couldnt tell you why." "i know where youre coming from. after losing so many people, sometimes its easier to keep everyone at arms length." "and then you wonder why you fight so hard to stay alive. i dont wonder anymore."). this being the reasoning behind violets detachment from the school, as well as a negative home life impacting her idea of what a home even was. but together they turn ericson from a prison into the home theyve BOTH been looking for, renaming it together, and envisioning it for the future together. the two of them understand each other deeply, from what theyve lost to how its affected them and the poor ways theyve decided to react to it. but through their support of the other, they BOTH get to evolve into more relaxed and confident versions of themselves, who know Exactly what theyre fighting for
her troubled relationship with brody and getting to learn more about what happened with the twins/violets reaction to it and how she ultimately blames herself/brodys guilt about her part in it and how she misses violet. getting the chance to mend that relationship before its too late. the 3 of them becoming closer because of it. and getting to develop clems friendship with brody leads to a more impactful moment later in the basement
her relationship with tenn reflecting clems relationship with aj, in the way they both made the decision to look after their respective boys after their primary guardians died (ajs parents, tenns sisters). both of them can understand the responsibilities they have taken upon themselves, and how hard it can be to do right. the 4 of them become a tight knit group quickly. especially in EP2 as vi supports clem while tenn supports aj through the marlon fiasco
her confused relationship with minerva introducing interesting conflict both within her relationship with clem (who has her own personal conflict with minerva, which vi still ties into through her relationship with both minnie and tenn) and the over arching plot, which has themes of learning when to let someone go because they are no longer who they once were (clem and lilly "we were family once", mitch about ms martin "you get all caught up in who people used to be, and you cant deal with whats in front of you", violet about minnie "the real minnie? shes been gone this whole time and i have to stop mourning her")
having a saved violet on the boat expanding the conversation with minerva about her motivations with the delta. violet apologizing for never looking for her, minnie saying she knows she would have but that its too late now, so sure this is just the way things have to be. getting to hear minnie say "you can be rewarded, just like i am", giving us insight into her character. and clem getting the last word before she rams the door down, her and violet fighting minnie Together. and violet saves clems life, making the Choice to shoot minerva, which in and of itself is a huge moment for violets character in regards to her relationship with both minnie And clem
and aj shooting tenn on the bridge brings things full circle, by putting violet in the same position louis was in EP2, where aj has killed the most important person to her, in an effort to save her life, and now she must reckon with those feelings the same way louis had to about marlon. not so easy now is it violet? ("so youre mad, but sad" "can i be that for a while?" "yeah, its ok")
just... ough... violets whole character just fits into Everything so well, but in a way that elevates the characters and plots around her, while also developing her into her own

is it me misremembering cinderpelt as being more important than she actually was in arc 1, or is it the rest of the fandom misremembering and forgetting she exists, because having not read the arc in a while i genuinely can't tell at this point but it still seems so strange to me how excluded she seems from tpb fan content lmfao

i hate the way the game pushes you to romance north despite her and markus having no romantic chemistry whatsoever, and i absolutely despise the "act natural" scene in capitol park where acting natural according to david cage is non-consensually kissing a woman?? it's so icky, they did my boy markus so wrong in that one.
as much as i don't agree with the majority of north's opinions and i think she's severely underdeveloped as a character who deserved to be more multidimensional, i also don't want to be an asshole to her. i'm ready to do that though if being considerate and empathetic ends in her and markus having a random fling in the middle of an android uprising

Gin backstory drabble, 700 words.
•••••••
Gin was once an orphan taken in by a respected member of the Organization. And no, before you ask, this isn’t the story of a boy being adopted by his father’s killer. His family’s blood wasn’t on the Organization’s hands. At least, not at this point in our story. Whether or not they had been tracked down at a later point in this tale, whether or not Gin had personally packed lead into all of their brains—that will be a different story, one that won’t be told here.
Gin was born with pale, bloodless skin and colorless hair that glinted silver. Sickly, some might’ve said. Unnatural, others might’ve declared. “Just a small, pitiful thing,” was how his eventual-guardian had put it. Whether or not that contributed to his parents’ decision to leave him one night in a wintry field to never return, Gin hadn’t deigned to find out. His story had been but one amongst those of countless other orphans, the reasoning behind their parents’ abandonment varying and sundry and banal.
And as Gin liked to proclaim, he had no interest in either learning or remembering details about dead persons.
The Organization member—whose name he later too scoured clean from his mind—who had slowed down his car and picked up that near-frozen child wrapped in white and nearly blended with the snow, would go on to raise Gin within the Organization as his own. He was often away on his travels, dispatched to complete yet another commission whose details must not see the light of day. “Business trips,” he said. And when Gin grew older, old enough to understand basic instructions like “pour that jug of bleach here,” or “insert the firing pin into the slide here,” he would be allowed to accompany.
The man taught Gin the ins-and-outs of the trade, taught him how to handle any gun and how to kill a man with nary an effort.
But most of all, he instilled in Gin the importance of loyalty. A concept that even mutts on the street understood, yet one that Gin’s blood family didn’t.
“Those who are baser than dogs do not deserve to live a human’s life,” the man had edified, dispatching a traitor to the Organization’s cause with dispassionate efficiency. The traitor was, after all, nothing but a rat, and no pest exterminator lost any sleep over their work. Young Gin had responded to that lesson with one firm nod of adherence.
And like so, Gin grew up to be tall, strong, capable, a predator instead of waiting around to be the prey they expected him to be. Their Organization took note. The kingpin himself took note. Soon, Gin began working jobs of his own. Soon, he was earning enough to rival his guardian, a fact Gin knew the latter had not only once surreptitiously frowned at. At an age not yet considered adult in most countries of the world, Gin already had more kills under his name than the changes of seasons he'd experienced in his life. That Person commended Gin on his remarkable work, and personally gave him his new name. A rebirth, to overwrite the original beginning.
He was valued.
And unlike the rats he killed, he would never turn his back on that.
Loyalty. Perhaps that was why the man had picked up a strange child in the middle of a deserted rural field. Perhaps he hoped to nurture in his ward a loyalty forged of steel—towards himself, of course, should…complications arise in the future that would require a steadfast gun in his corner. His calculations didn’t factor in the potential that, by the time those circumstances arrived, his ward had re-sworn his fealty to the Organization where he found his calling and his belonging instead.
Wasn't that just how these things went.
So when that man revealed on the night of Gin’s eighteenth birthday, amidst their liquor-aided celebration of Gin having reached majority (in the country they were at that moment in), his plans to exit the Organization—it was with all that he had taught him that Gin put the bullet into the head of the man who had raised him.
Without loyalty, there was nothing, and the man who instilled that in him betrayed the very tenet of their creed.
And those baser than dogs did not deserve a human’s life.

You 🤝 Me
shamelessly adding onto each other's unanswered ask piles. canon asks for Altis, go! 🫵
3+10 if you wanna combine those, 5, 15!
— @spearminthe <3
3. how do the other characters generally feel about your self insert?
10. how do the other characters feel about your self insert and f/o’s relationship?
It might be kind of obvious... Altis doesn't really interact with many of the characters in canon, outside of Melinoe, who finds their relationship queer but oddly charming, at least until she 1) realizes why Altis has been appearing in the Crossroads, and 2) when they start to steal from her and work against her in her fights against Polyphemus.
I was also thinking that Altis maybe runs into Medea... it's tempting to try and get her aid in reversing their own curse. Though in the end, any attempt would end up backfiring on them.
Most of the characters Altis interacts with are knowledgeable enough to know that satyrs are always up to no good, even one with such a dire curse.
5. does your self insert have any special powers or abilities?
As one of Pan's sons, Altis is a master of both the wilds and of livestock, they have an uncanny ability to manipulate both. They can forage when hungry, and find safety in any flock. (Also an aside to point out that Polyphemus is not Poseidon's son in Hades 2 so it's not incest! Joyous day for me specifically.)
Also... being a demigod is nice. Walking the thin line between morality and immortality combined with Chronos' war against Death means that they can be about as risky as they want at the cost of wading out of River Cocytus (on top of being threatened by some particularly scary women). The specific circumstances they find themself in afford them this convenience that may not have worked out in their favor if they did not settle in Ephyra and Chronos had not escaped Tartarus.
15. how does your self insert play a role in the plot of the story? do they help directly defeat the villain, support the heroes, etc.?
I think they would be a goofy little side story to flesh out Polyphemus' character. Also a way to make the fight against him harder, either due to general progression or increased difficulty from Fear. Depending on how things go with the full release of Hades 2... maybe they would help Chronos, maybe not. I think currently they would be on the knife's edge when it comes to supporting or fighting his new regime. Of course Polyphemus doesn't care either way- he only cares because Melinoe is meddling in his business. Maybe he will eventually be forced to take a side? (Also I still sit here and wonder if he will ever mention Galatea. Hmmst)

I think I should focus more on the link between Rafal and Japeth in TCY because I was typing out a joke post that went something along the lines of "TCY is so funny because the whole division between the two Pens comes down to "omnipotent omniscient harbinger of fate" vs "some snake guy" under the assumption that the scim that was Lionsmane was just one of Japeth's, but I realised I didn't have a source for that so checked flesh and blood again and what do you know Lionsmane is apparently "made out of my father (Rafal's) spirit.". I was aware of the reference to 'Rafal's spirit' mostly because it's a concept never mentioned by name again in the series but somehow never noticed that Lionsmane WAS just. Rafal. which has horrible consequences for the Japeth Lore
Basically. It seems very important to me that the "Storian VS Lionsmane" duo can be boiled down to "Fate VS Japeth", given that a lot of Japeth's motivation comes from his desire to be able to control fate, stating in Flesh And Blood "soon I'll be fate's master, with the power to take love back (where he's talking about Aric)." . Saying that he IS Lionsmane ties into that nicely, given that he'll write his own fate with the pen that Is Him. This also fits into the "Past is Present" prophecy, given the last line of "Until you change it", being exactly what Japeth aims to do.
However, Japeth does not 'change it', because he's not the one writing his fate, because He's Not Lionsmane. RAFAL is. The fate that Japeth thinks he's creating for himself isn't the one he wants, but is Rafal's fate instead... which is exactly what ends up happening to him, given the second fratricide incident. This also works with Past is Present, because Past IS Present, given it's the same fate. Which also works as a lovely little reminder that Japeth has absolutely no control over his fate in the slightest, reflected by a few other pieces of book 6 information: Rafal's message to him (that happens before book 4) instructs him to remain loyal to his brother, and to always put his brother first. He doesn't win a single one of Arthur's Trials. It is literally stated by Rafal in a flashback that it was LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE for japeth to end up being One True King. what I am Trying To Say is that there was absolutely no way in hell Japeth could ever have "changed it", ever. Anyway because of all of this I firmly believe that Soman should've put at least a couple of vague references to the TCY twins in the prequels given that Japeth and Rafal might have the most interesting link between them in my opinion
#I usually put underdeveloped thoughts in the tags so:#I think this same line of thinking helps explain my other Question About Aric#Aric's a weird character to analyse but the biggest two debates I have about him are “did he actually love Japeth”#(imo yes but the reason is tricky to explain)#and the other one is “Does it actually matter if his father is anyone significant?”#and the answer to that one is up in the air#on one hand it doesn't matter#if you see aric as not being plot/parallel significant himself#and more as a representative of the “Evil's Love” that both Japeth and Rafal have as alternative to their respective brotherly love#BUT it DOES matter#if you see aric as being significant because he's the Third for the TCY twins#and so there has to be a plot relevant reason why HE is the disruptance#which has to be his parentage because nothing else about him is significant enough#this sort of relates to whats in the post because of fate bs but i think it's a really interesting question and would love other opinions#anyway the other thing i usually leave in the tags on my japeth lore posts is a “(X) when I catch you” with x being a character#but honestly? nothing for this one cause it's not Rafal's fault either I don't think he knew he was dooming japeth to the same fate#and he DID try to warn him#anyway yeah this is a certified FOUR IN THE MORNING? ??! ?!? ?! WHAT I STARTED WRITING AT 2.#sge#tsfgae#school for good and evil#the school for good and evil#japethposting#sfgae#fotsge#rotsge#the school of good and evil
