The Trump administration resumed more aggressive workplace immigration enforcement earlier this week after briefly pausing arrests at farms, hotels and restaurants last week.
"The message is clear now that we're going to continue doing worksite enforcement operations, even on farms and hotels, but based on a prioritized basis," President Trump's "border czar," Tom Homan, said Thursday, adding, "Criminals come first."
The White House argues that undocumented workers drive down wages and take jobs from American-born workers. But some farming and hospitality industry leaders have warned the administration that large-scale deportations could disrupt operations, as many of these workers fill essential jobs that are difficult to replace with domestic labor.
Undocumented immigrants make up a sizable slice of the workforce in not only hospitality and farming but also construction and manufacturing.
Additionally, undocumented workers are spread across the U.S., including in blue states like California and New Jersey, and in states that supported Mr. Trump in the 2024 election, like Texas, Florida, and Nevada, which have some of the biggest shares of unauthorized workers.

Undocumented immigration is the very definition of a victimless crime. They are not taking your tax dollars. They are not eligible for social security. They are not responsible for the jobs crisis, greed and automation is. They pay millions of dollars into social programs they don't benefit from. They are nothing more than the rich and elites scapegoat for all the problems they caused us.
Yet despite this, my home state of Missouri has introduced bill SB72. This bill does a number of things, for starters it changes undocumented immigration from a civil crime to a felony. This prohibits undocumented immigrants from EVER applying for citizenship or a visa.
Additionally, making the crime a felony now means it's punishable by jail time rather than deportation. So, how much jail time does this bill recommend for the crime of undocumented immigration? LIFE IMPRISIONMENT WITH NO CHANCE FOR PAROLE, PROBATION, OR EARLY RELEASE. They don't want these people out of the country, they want them enslaved in Missouri's labor camps.
And if that wasn't bad enough, this bill allows for what they're calling "Missouri Illegal Alien Certified Bounty Hunters". They are proposing paying citizens $1,000 per person they report to the government as undocumented.
Below, I've attached the official bill summary from the Missouri State Senate website. The sick sack of shit sponsoring this bill is Missouri Senator David Gregory
If you'd like to contact Mr. Gregory, his office is 201 W. Capitol Ave., Rm. 331
Jefferson City, Missouri 65101
His phone number is 573-751-5568

In case anyone somehow doesn't know: Fruits and vegetables are about to get very scarce and very expensive for anyone who lives in the United States. The deportations have started, and farmworkers are now not showing up to work. Enjoy your fruits and vegetables now, because soon you won't be able to afford them, assuming they're available at all.
Personally, the humanitarian aspect of this is the most concerning to me, but in case you don't give a shit about all the suffering that human beings are now facing because of these deportations, you should know the ways this will personally affect you. Undocumented workers are the backbone of our economy, and we're about to feel the loss, from fruits and vegetables, to new construction, to fucking dishwashers. If you voted for this, you're going to suffer along with the rest of us.
Dark days ahead. And behind, for that matter.

"California will begin paying for free legal help with immigration for undocumented farmworkers who are involved in state investigations of wage theft or other labor violations, Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office announced this week.
The $4.5 million pilot program will provide qualifying farmworkers with referrals for legal help with their immigration status.
Roughly half of California’s farmworker population is believed to be undocumented. Fear of deportation and difficulties finding jobs can discourage workers from filing labor complaints or serving as witnesses in cases alleging unsafe work temperatures, wage theft, or employer retaliation for unionizing, officials said...
Respecting immigrant rights
Farmworkers in labor investigations who qualify for the new state program will receive a direct referral to legal services organizations that already offer immigration services, such as the Community Action Board of Santa Cruz County or the United Farm Workers Foundation, which spoke in support of the program.
The free legal services workers could receive include case review, legal advice and representation by an attorney, according to Newsom’s office...
Deferred deportation
State officials said the pilot program aligns with a new Biden administration policy that makes it easier for undocumented workers who are victims of labor rights violations to request deferred action from deportation. Because the federal Department of Homeland Security can’t respond to all immigration violations, it exercises “prosecutorial discretion” to decide who to try to deport.
State officials said they won’t ask for workers’ immigration status, but noncitizens granted this deferred action may be eligible for work authorization.
This year, California labor department officials began supporting undocumented workers’ requests for prosecutorial discretion or deferred action from federal immigration officials, including when employers threaten workers with immigration enforcement to prevent workers from cooperating with state investigators.
“The Department of Industrial Relations’ Labor Commissioner’s Office … was the first state agency to request deferred action from DHS for employees in an active investigation, and that request was successful,” Hickey said. “This is an important process for undocumented workers to be aware of.”"
