im on anon cuz i'm embarrassed for asking this question but in the economy we live in in the US i doubt i'll ever be able to go to the obgyn ever in my life lol 😭💀
for some context + the question itself, im blk , was AFAB + assumed perisex and im 19 ... but i recently found out that PCOS runs in my family and i am at moderate-high risk of developing it as i get older (extra risk if i take birth control/IUDs) ... does this mean im still perisex or am i stuck in some weird limbo of being basically schrodingers intersex ??? 😭 im still in that area where im tyring to figure myself out especially as someone who is VERY trans and gnc, and that + everyone assuming im a normal perisex afab girl on top of not having any access to medical resources for multiple reasons has been weighing on me .. any help , labels or resources would be appreciated!! thank you for all you do, it's been nice knowing that there is a blog like yours where i can ask without fear of scrutiny <:] (for anyone else who would like to add on their opinions, please know that i use it/bun/rawr/hy/shy prns!!!)
hello good question! i'd say that if it runs in the family there's a good chance you have it as well. if you're displaying signs, or start to display signs, then you have every reason to call yourself intersex. it can take a while for certain conditions to develop. some show very young, some take time. it was my late teens before i started seeing the brunt of my PCOS. sometimes you can get blood tests done by your family doctor to check your hormone levels and that can help give some insight without having to go to an OBGYN. best of luck, but i don't think it's out of line to be questioning if you're intersex if that is your situation. take care of yourself
