A prefix is a language modifier that is added to the start of a word root to make a new word, like 'pre' in 'prefix' or 'af' in 'affix. or 'suf' in 'suffix.'

A suffix is a language modifier that is added to the end of a word root to make new word, like 'est' in 'greatest,' or 'esque' in 'picturesque.'

And infix is a language modifier that is added in the middle of a word to make a new word. Unlike prefixes and suffixes, formal English does not have any infixes, but informal English has a few which serve to change stress patterns and emphasis. "Abso-fucking-lutely" is a crass way to say "absolutely" in a manner that provides a connotation of extreme and obvious degree. In this case, "abso-fucking-lutely" serves as both an affirmative answer to the question, and a self-demonstrating example of the same. This, combined with the juxtaposition of a semi-formal environment (a classroom setting) and an inappropriate word (the 'fucking' infix) is a source of humor, as this is a legitimate situation to violate the social mores against cussing.

More inane theory rambling

(Decided to make this its own separate post instead of just leaving it tacked onto the end of my last theory post)

Okay, now that I’ve continued with some of THE LORE and watched those clips talking about Dorine, I am more convinced that this is definitely less about the characters we previously knew and more about us and the parallels these new characters have with previous characters.

Engineer Mark and Actor Mark are not the same person, but they area parallels of each other. Both are people who inadvertently hurt the people around them because they were doing what they thought was right whilst being influenced by forces outside of their control.

Admittedly Actor Mark is less justified in his actions than Engineer Mark but the point still stands.

From what I can tell, Dorine/Celci are not Celine, but like with Actor and Engineer Mark, they are parallels. There of course is the motif of going to sleep, of sleep being a good and safe option. The motif of choice, since when looking at WKM, it was Celine’s choice to intervene at the mansion that changed the course of events. Something bad was always going to happen at the manor, but Celine’s being there when she was not supposed to be set off a completely different chain of events than was originally supposed to happen.

And this even ties back to us, with how our choices can each cause a wildly different sequence of events, although this is also different in the fact that all choices are all happening at the same time and yet all lead to the same ending. But that parallel still exists somewhat.

Yeah obviously Dark and Wilford are still here, so it’s not like this is just an alternate universe with only character parallels that allude to the one we’re more familiar with, but their role is much smaller in this story.

ISWM I feel focuses more on drawing parallels between these new characters and old characters and shows us how different circumstances can change people and how they think, what they do and the choices they make. This still ties back into WKM and why those characters are the way that they are.

Because while they’re all pretty equally shitty people (minus Damien because he did nothing wrong ever), nobody is a villain.

While yes, Dark does accept the role of villain in Actor’s stories, albeit on his own terms, he is not a villain. Actor is not a villain.

Yeah they’re both manipulative fucks that only seek to use the people around them for their benefit, both of them believe that what is to their benefit is to the benefit of others in the long run.

Huh just like how Engineer Mark did what he did because he thought he was fixing the problems that he unknowingly caused.

And Engineer Mark came to this realization that what he was doing was wrong. He had been horribly misguided and come to the only solution he could think of, but he was still wrong.

And he admits to it. He apologizes and looks past himself and what he thinks is right, and realizes what he’s done to the captain, to the colonists, to the entire multiverse.

This COULD be alluding to a potential redemption of Actor Mark, I’m not entirely sure, but the parallels ARE there.

I think that ISWM is less of a continuation of the story and more of an extrapolation/expansion of it. Again, tying into my previous idea that this is character development for us much like how WMLW was character development for Abe when it comes to this world and its rules/how it does/doesn’t work and the sort of lens/mindset you need to view it under.
