chat just hear me out for a moment, this song has got me thinking about more Entity lore

i like to think that the Entity used to be a creature to create gorgeous and plentiful life, but its only life source was dependent on the emotions of humans

but human’s were so vengeful and devastating, the Entity shriveled up from it’s beautiful form to a horrific husk, corrupted to only know hatred and suffering. Any time it sees joy now, it grows ill with hatred and needs to exterminate it.

The whole reason it found shelter in the Manor was from how ill the residents were in the head. It didn’t have to travel in the world if it’s food source remained in one singular place.

All Mark ever wanted was love. He would give anything to get it. His parents hardly ever gave him attention, far too busy with keeping up appearances in a rich social network to pay much mind to a child, so he found support in his friends. He found ways to keep them entertained and got a rush everytime he made them laugh. Still, it was never enough.

Soon, his friends are grown, and disappearing into lofty careers. No time for Mark's antic. So, he dedicated his life to acting it. It's not a profession his parents would ever approve of, but that doesn't matter anymore.

"Give up trying to please your parents," the casting agents say "and audiences will love you for the rest of your career."

And Mark believed them.

The admiration of adoring audiences is all very well, but it didn't fill the hole for long. Those strangers loved his characters. They would never care for him. Then, an old friend wandered back into his life. Celine. Beautiful, clever, witty. Her smile outshone that of a thousand theater goers. It didn't take long before she became his world.

"Give up acting and marry me," She said "and I will love you till death do us part."

And Mark believed her.

But the sweet honeymoon period quickly faded. Light hearted jabs turned to deep cutting insults, discussions turned to heated arguments. Soon, he was alone in a house too big and too full of memories for one person.

Well...almost alone.

Because there was something else with him. Something that had to always been with him. Watching, waiting. On long dark nights, he would wander aimlessly talking to himself, and sometimes he would find something talking back.

"Give up everything," It said "and I will love you until the end of time."

And Mark believed it.

hey. has anyone talked about the similarities / coincidences between alan wake, particularly alan wake 2, and who killed markiplier? because i’ve thought about it extensively for months and it still kills me that i haven’t found an au of it ANYWHERE

Y/N as Saga Anderson. A previously unknown character who becomes central to the plot. Has strange abilities unlike other characters in the story that grant them special information that can assist in their journey. Additionally, is deceived by Actor Mark into thinking Mark is the good guy, just as Scratch secretly hides in Alan after he’s pulled from the lake.

Damien as Alan Wake. An imbalanced, but somewhat decent guy thrust into a nightmare he initially has no control of. Trapped in a limbo UNDER A LAKE of darkness not by his own making. Uses the protagonists of various stories to try and help him escape the grasp of a certain other-worldly being/place, and stop an evil greater than himself.

Actor Mark as Mr. Scratch. Taking on Alan/Damien’s face and weaving his own twisted narrative by taking control of reality via storytelling. Secretly another evil entity using his face and body for its own personal goals.

Celine as Alice Wake. Keeping Alan/Damien in a state of limbo without his knowledge until he is ready to battle his demons. She is trapped under the lake and stays trapped under there as Alan/Damien struggles to find a way out.

Abe as Alex Casey. A fictional detective used by Alan/Scratch for his own gain. A blatant stereotype of the noir gritty detective really…. Additionally works with a partner who has strange, reality-bending abilities.

Wilford as Ahti. Multidimensional being that’s friendly and also very dangerous (Ahti is quite literally a god). Appears at random intervals throughout the story to either be incredibly vague and weird or to assist the main character.

Darkiplier as Mr. Door. Omnipotent being who can’t control this reality but can manipulate it, and has spent his life hunting down and killing variants of one particular man.

this continues to keep me up at night. anyway i’m currently writing a fic for my DA oc set partially within an alan wake au. i can’t control the neurones from firing any longer.

Egotober Day 30: Witch

Celine had been called a witch many times. She’d found her abilities early when her and Damien had been young. And she honestly liked the dark gothic aesthetic and style. She’d also been called an ice queen but witch was much more common. It was mostly in childish insults or whispers around her, there were very few that dared to shout it in her face for fear of what she’d do to them. But one of those few it turned out was her husband.

It had been another argument, for what reason she couldn’t remember clearly now as she stalked through the manor with anger bubbled in her veins. But the last part of it rang in her head like the echo of a gunshot. ‘Don’t you try to play innocent with me you conniving witch!’ Her hands shook as she threw her suitcase open. She felt the burn in her veins, the sparks of energy at her fingertips. She wanted to show him what the word really meant. What someone could do with powers like hers. But Celine still loved the proud man she’d fallen for, she didn’t want to hurt him that way at least. But she needed to leave, at least long enough to cool them both off….

Dark blinked once as the memory faded to the back of his mind from where it had been brought out. As he looked at the so called ‘hero’ in front of him. Still in that stupid red suit with that arrogant smirk on his face at what had left his lips. ‘Celine was nothing but a conniving witch!’ Dark’s face twisted in a mocking sneer as he loosened his stance and moved forward in a predatory prowl. The righteous anger of a protective brother filled his words as a hand clenched into a fist.

“A witch was she? Little more than someone who performed parlor tricks or was someone to blame when things went wrong? Well..”

Dark had a vicious pleasure summer in his veins that was shared three fold as he felt the bastard’s nose crack under his fist. As he watched him fall to the ground. He smirked as he felt the brother step back. As his body shifted and changed to match the pulse of fury that only a scorned and betrayed woman was capable of making.

She looked more elegant, the suit fell against her curves with a sensual sort of ferocity. Dark rolled her shoulders and cracked her neck as she set her heel on his throat. Magic, so much stronger, darker than it had been before leapt into her hands with barely a thought. She smirked at the furious, shocked and…..yes afraid look on Actor’s face. He hadn’t expected to deal with her and the strength of venom in her voice, if it had been possible, would have killed him from necrosis ten times over.

“Maybe I should show you how much of a witch I really am.”

Yesssss!!! You understand! The fact that Dark genuinely believes that he's irredeemable while the DA tries to convince him he's not - and if they're still trapped in the mirror at this point, the repeated 'waiting' is just so-! *grabs you by the shoulders* The 'I am not your kind and gentle husband' and the 'You're always my husband, and I've been waiting.' It makes me so insane.

I would also like to take this opportunity to talk about the parallels between the two medias in general - because Eurylochus and Odysseus in Mutiny versus Engineer and the Captain, because the whole 'I'm tired, my friend' and then his 'Captain' when Odysseus makes his choice is so similar to the final 'episode' of In Space.

And, and, and! This was talked about with other people, but the parallels between Scylla and Celine when she merges with the entity ('We must do what it takes to survive.') and then Odysseus and Damien when she says 'We are the same, you and I.' - and arguably, Circe and Hermes vs Celine and Wilford because come on, tell me you can't imagine Wilford singing 'Wouldn't You Like' to Dark/Damien.

AND- this is a whole scenario that I might end up writing but 'No Longer You' with Dark and the Host, because the lyrics are genuinely so accurate to WKM.

'I see a song of past romance' - Actor and Celine - 'I see the sacrifice of man' - arguably any of the deaths in WKM - 'I see portrayals of betrayal' - either Wilford 'betraying' Actor or Damien and Celine betraying the DA - 'And a brother's final stand' - again, either Damien running in for Celine or Wilford/Actor dying - 'I see you on the brink of death' - Damien in the void - 'I see you draw your final breath' - his actual death - 'I see a man who gets to make it home alive / But it's no longer you' - Damien merging to create Dark, who is kind of but kind of not him anymore, in the same way that Odysseus returns home as a 'monster'. (also 'I see your palace covered in red' as a reference to Actor, but that's beside the point.)

AND- 'Love in Paradise'/'Not Sorry for Loving You' totally relating to Actor keeping the DA trapped in the stories because come on.

AND- would you believe me if I said I already made an edit of them?

I have so many thoughts about the egos and Epic that I'm going to crumble. Thank you so much for enabling me, but also how dare you because I will never stop imaging them when I listen to the songs.

I was thinking about Damian today and how he says to Actor that he was never good enough for Celine

like, did Celine tell him before she confessed to Mark that she had feelings? Did he try to talk her out of it? Maybe he thought Actor wouldn't return the feelings?

Also thinking about the wedding like, did he WANT TO OBJECT THEN? Do you think William would've backed him up in that if he spoke out first and did Will not like her romantically yet?

And Actor would be pissed to see one or both of them rejection their marriage but it's another way that the events of WKM could've potentially been stopped ;-;

My guess is that she told Damian, he said it was a bad idea but Celine is Celine-and his sister. Whether he caves in first or she states that's she's, "already made her choice"

Dames knows it's too late to stop her so he supports them instead

He could've chosen to say nothing against it(oof another potential Will with Celine parallel) and support them simply because it's them and keep his opinion to himself?

I saw someone once posit that it was said just to piss off Actor in that moment and/or a feeling brought out by being in the Entity's world.

Most headcanons I have for ANYYY ego that’s not Wilford related usually kinda are lackluster compared to the last rant I went on, and for actor mark I’m not really that crazy for him but I think he’s a cool character.. to HATE ON jk here’s a few hcs not in order

Mark and William are step brothers. Mark’s mother was a model and Williams dad was an army general so william started living with mark in the manor when they were really little

Mark was really happy to have a brother since he was an only child, but also he was the annoying little brother to William so they would fight a lot but they were the closest out of any of their other childhood friends.

Since marks parents were always so busy with their jobs and the housekeepers and workers in the manor were WORKING and had no time to waste talking to some kid, mark was lonely pretty often until he met William and Celine and Damien

I have no idea how the house entity was awoken from its slumber or where it came from in general, but it never affected anybody in the house as badly for a while, but it was around when mark was a young adult that the entity became malicious

I don’t remember where, but I know the real house that wkm was shot in is called mythea castle located in laguna, but I like pretending that the manor is actually somewhere in the countryside of California and the town it lives in is kinda far away and was really small in the 1900s which ALSO contributed to marks loneliness

Mark was NEVER EVIL before the house entity ever started causing problems for everyone. He was definitely a little big headed sometimes but it never bothered anyone that much. What changed him was the stress of being a famous actor out of nowhere and the straining relationships it led to with basically everybody. Mark slowly became more susceptible to the house entity’s TOMFOOLERY which slowly drove Celine away from mark and then William stepped in and then oh my god an affair?? And then mark went kinda crazy and then yeah wkm happened whatever
