Two steps forward one step back, but in a good way, promise. Give me five minutes to talk?

I’m writing this with the knowledge I might not post it, I might get embarrassed about it and I might delete it but. I want to try.

Let’s be a little frank about what this blog’s been, as a whole.

It’s been a place for me to write, yes, but it’s also been, full honesty, an escape, a panicked and grieved one, away from all I was before. I grabbed my funny little Star Wars OCs and my loose concept for a Mars story and I ran out the door. I made a blog that for years had a header title specifically referencing that it was somewhere new. Somewhere different. Hell the name of the blog itself was that too. I didn’t want to lose all I worked on but I couldn’t bear to be in the same place as it anymore.

I still, frankly, can’t be. The part of me that craves validation and misses all that old feedback, even when I can acknowledge to myself that I wasn’t getting any of that anyways, really. Not towards the end. The peak of the glory days of the Achievement Hunter fiction community had, admittedly, passed a while before I closed up shop. It was nice having what I personally considered a Big Follower Number, but I’d watched plenty of people move on over the years. I’d made several posts half-joking about it in the year leading up to the Big Move alone but it was happening before that too. It wasn’t fun, I got really genuinely upset over the fact that in the middle of all the things I’d cared about writing, the quick brainworm things I slammed out in two hours were the only things that really got traction, but it wasn’t unexpected. It happens, people grow into and out of fandoms and followings and the beginning of the end for AH in the state it had been felt looming on the horizon well before…everything that happened. And everything since.

I don’t mean to dredge old wounds. It’s dramatic to say but I still find mine plenty raw, four years down the line. It aches at me that I can acknowledge, objectively, just how Mine everything was towards the end, how little I’d even really been watching videos and being influenced by them, and still be unable to even brush the edges of character descriptions, much less names. For a very long time I couldn’t even go back to look at my old work, though that particular aspect has gone away through slow and steady effort.

Anyways.

My tenure on satansprettyprose ran a little over five years. It had a huge impact on my life, with reverberations I still feel, and then it was over.

I left a lot of stuff behind when I moved here. A lot of things I loved, a lot of things that filled me with joy. Concepts of ideas, plans I had, conversations I wanted to continue and people I wanted to hold close. Not every attempt to bring any of those back to life has succeeded. Some have failed to such an extent I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to even shape the edges of them again without feeling it in my chest. Some things I might never be able to use again.

To be entirely transparent, the reason I pushed so hard last year to write once a month is that I felt myself drifting away from writing at all. I felt like no matter what I wrote it didn’t matter, it wasn’t what people wanted to see, it wasn’t what I’d done before, what I couldn’t go back to. Writing gives me such joy and I was losing my grasp on it because it felt like it was just me and the big dark shadow of the Before, even while I was actively running away from it. I don’t even talk about writing outside of here and my friend group and that was happening less and less. So I figured I’d give myself one last shot and see if I could even still do good consistent writing anymore. And I’ll be honest, I think I’m a worse writer now than I was. I’ve let the muscle atrophy.

But this last year I wrote some damn good chapters of Orbit in Decay and got us at least lined up for the real meat of the story to get going. I wrote Neighbors, a good amount of it, and got to play with different styles I’d been nervous to touch again, on top of having a lot of real genuine fun with opposing viewpoints. I wrote proper Star Wars things, pieces I’d been holding back on for years because I couldn’t get myself over the hurdle of my own self-conscious hurdles.

But more than all of that, I started working on things like what I’d loved. I started writing the still-unnamed fae stuff, which was and is a blatant rip of the ELR longform spy rewrite I’d been working on, just with supernatural elements and different characters. I started working on some old-fashioned tolsmol stuff, one of which went out last week. Another, which involves some mushrooms and star-void, is still rather piecemeal but has had some space to grow anyways.

And then last month. Last month I made Jay and Obie. Last month I broached the writing topic I was terrified to come back to the most. I wrote criminals. More than that, I wrote a lot of criminals. I’ve still been writing a lot of criminals. And it makes me so so happy to do.

I’ve written so much this last year I’ve had to start sorting it aggressively so that I don’t lose everything.

Here’s the point.

It’s been four years here. I’m older, I’m more tired, my health is worse and it’s harder to want to keep the ball rolling. I’m rarely on here, and I’m aware of that. There were some months this last year where it was all I could do to kick out something short at the very end of the month for the sake of checking that box and very little else. I’ll never match the person I was, but ultimately I think that’s what happens with time anyways. So, what then?

The answer is that I’m going to try. Like I’ve been but also more than that. I’m going to stop living in the shadow of it all. I want to write what I want to write and I want to create what I want to create. No more clinging to the idea that I can’t even acknowledge all I did because of all the guilt and rage and grief. No more forever reminding myself that I can’t because it was something else. I miss writing things, so I’m going to write them.

It won’t be the same, obviously. See the fae stuff, see Jay and Obie, hell see the clone lesbians I’ve been toying with. I don’t know if I’ll ever find a way to write a revenge story I won’t find utterly lacking and I know with a certainty that tears at me that I won’t ever be writing a massive longform polyamorous corruption arc again. No matter how much I miss it.

But we’re going to find rhymes, going to make new suspiciously similar OCs, going to write new and weird things, and some old and weird things too. And I’m really hoping it’ll make some people smile like it used to because I know it’s done that for me.

Explanation

this functions like secret santa/kris kringle, where people sign up and are then provided a person they will be writing a fic for.

on the google form linked above, you will fill in a bunch of information including players and genres you like to read about and players you like to write about—i then do my absolute best to match these up with each other so that people are receiving what they want and writing within their comfort limits.

there are also spaces to tell me genres and players you want nothing to do with, so that i won’t pair you up with a person who exclusively writes things you aren’t interested in.

after you’ve received your match (the person you’ll be writing for), you can then head into their inbox anonymously and really drill down into what your match would like to receive.

Ranking every Fictions song!!!

looong post ranking every song from Fictions (Souma Saitou).. copied and pasted from my notepin, where readability is easier, but it won't let me link it.. (url is 'noroshi')

We.. can skip the formalities. It is a known fact that I'm a massive Souma Saitou fan. ((um I had a dream that I was at his concert last night))

It's also a known fact (I hope) that I'm perfectly justified, because he's a genius songwriter, and has a stunning voice. He's a gem in the seiyuu industry when it comes to music making.

Fictions is his newest album, which came out on the 25th of September. I wasn't expecting this, but it's my favourite by far. It could probably take the spot for my favourite album of all time, too. But some of the songs in Fictions are undeniably better than others, for that is how the world works.

Obviously, my rankings aren't absolute, and don't let me put you off the lower-ranked songs. I love every single one.

THE RANKING

// 11 :: Puppet Mood

Puppet Mood is one of Souma-san's rougher songs, with a grungey feel to it. His vocals, slightly filtered (iirc) to match the song, are a perfect delivery (what did you expect from Souma-san??). But where it falls short is its repetitiveness and how it fails to spark nearly as much emotion as the other songs. It's an earworm, and the instrumental (especially guitar) is also very well-done, but Souma-san can make terribly evocative music, and this just doesn't fall into that category. Also.. personal, but the 'tururu' is more annoying than helpful....

// 10 :: Kyohansha

Kyohansha, or Accomplice, is (if you're listening in order, which I recommend) the fast-paced, energy-bringing song in the beginning of Fictions, after a number of more downbeat tracks. It throws people off, how it changes from one genre to the other, which can be exciting or frustrating depending on the listener's mood. (I don't know, I quite liked it. It reminds me of a lot of typical VOCALOID stuff.) This one is second-last because his vocals don't shine as much here, but there are still some nice moments!

// 9 :: Riot!

When you start playing Riot!, you might not agree when I say it's the cutest song in the album. BUT IT IS!! The lyrics (I have translated this one), the subtle vocal choices Souma-san makes, they all contribute to a real party feel. Let loose. It's a straightforward, nice song. Soo.. it can only come this far. I have a predilection for the complex melodies, complex lyrics, and things that make me feel. Without that, connecting with the song is much more difficult.

// 8 :: Hammer Girl

Hammer Girl is the second of the three songs that came out prior to the full album. It's a fluid, easy-listening rock song (I eat this stuff UP) with some largely nonsensical lyrics (again, translated by me). It's been stuck in my head for hours. It really means a lot to me. About his performance: this song is a prime example of Souma-san's vocal versatility (especially in the chorus), and hints at his range as well. The riff is also so catchy. I suppose it falls short in its lyrics; though interestingly different from what he usually does, he's done much better.

// 7 :: Sway

Sway is the first of the songs released early. It's really evocative, painting a beautiful picture, and is the most fluid song, transitioning between pop-rock, jazz, and rock. Souma-san's voice. sounds. HEAVENLY. His versatility between genres is shown here too, and his voice is terribly soft, creating a soothing, intimate atmosphere. I suppose all I can say to justify it being in the lower half is that he can (and has) done better, and we are about to enter that territory, but Sway is a beautiful song.

// 6 :: Noctiluca

Noctiluca is at first a ballad, before bursting into power near the end. Its focus is 'flowing', and its lyrics contain some nice imagery to water (also translated!); whenever Souma-san writes about nature, he does the Earth's beauty justice. His vocal performance is perfect, and emotional, and not over the top, which fits brilliantly to our 'flowing' theme. The instrument combo is quite a range (piano, then strings, then picking up with guitar and drums, aand back to piano, before the powerful end), and his voice flows through it effortlessly. (thank you for the vibrato Souma-san we were desperately in need)

// 5 :: Ame no niwa

Ame no niwa, the third of the songs released early, is an example of a simpler, quieter song creating a complex and powerful effect. The first half consists of only piano and Souma-san's painfully beautiful voice, and deceptively simple lyrics. Strings pick up in the middle, and are dropped after, before returning in the emotional last chorus. But before that chorus, there is the most delicate I've ever heard Souma-san's voice- with my favourite lyrics in the song, too (I've translated, please do ask for this one, it's amazing). This side of his repertoire is not explored much, and it was a blessing. SO.. Ame no niwa had me in a chokehold for a while, because it's NOT just a plain 'sad song', look closer!!

// 4 :: (Fake)Flowers

FAKE FLOWERS IS A FCKING BANGER?!?! It makes me smile whenever I hear it. It was the song I was looking forward to the most when the album trailer came out! It brings energy to the album in a light, bouncing way, while showing us how dextrous Souma-san is with his high range as well (seriously, what the hell, he's so good at this). The song is so loopable (says me, who never loops their music, er, this means a lot) and so catchy. I hate when songs fade out, but this one gets a pardon. Job well done. iiiIII'M GONNA BRING YU FLOOWERS (sorr y)

// 3 :: Hiraeth

Okay erm, fun time over, time for the hard-hitting ones. Hiraeth is a delicate, passively powerful song that sums up the whole album. The nostalgia Souma-san (and his voice) can evoke with this one song is phenomenal. (I'm in the process of translating, and the lyrics are also wonderful, helping with this!) It is a joy to experience this song, but it's one of those tracks where if you were feeling the messy blend of emotion (as humans do feel most things) that it describes, you'd probably break down crying. And, like Souma-san's songs tend to do, the lyrics are very vague in terms of events, but very specific in terms of emotion. We can all relate, and connect, which makes this song beautiful.

// 2 :: Ventura

Ventura is.. perfectly crafted. It's more than perfect. Perfectly crafted, as in, the vocal choices Souma-san makes, every instrument in the backing track (which is not really 'backing', because everything blends so well), the LYRICS oh god the lyrics (ask for my translation!).. they all contribute to this song, and nothing is hindered; emotion is only held back, until it's released in Souma-san's heart-wrenching scream at the bridge. Who knew his voice could even do that?! At first, it seems out of place, but as you further understand the song (which is easy, because it's another that's painfully easy to connect to), it's, again, perfectly placed. Everything pent up, like so much in our brittle, human bodies, is let out. And it's terrifying. This song reminds me of what it feels like to cry. I can't describe it in words. Wow.

// 1 :: mm

I'm smiling as I write this, not just because I'm listening to the song (which I've been doing for every song while writing ab it, btw!), but because.. how could anything POSSIBLY be better than the last two songs I just poured my heart into writing about? And why mm?? It's so different!

Well, the song starts of as a simple love song, bordering into something more seductive, with Souma-san's voice being absolutely dazzling. The instrumental changes further, becoming only slightly more complex, making the song really catchy. It's so simply done, and yet the effect it creates is so large. The vocals in this song are the best in the album, because (unlike Ventura, which makes use of the song as one being) Souma-san clearly has the spotlight here. He traverses his range with immense skill (his high and low notes really are something) with a comfortable middle ground for the chorus, and sounds so. hot.

But the LYRICS. mm's lyrics are brilliantly written. I mentioned that this was a love song- actually, I didn't, because after the start, it gets darker fast. (PLEASE ask/read my TL.) The whole song is so deceptive, and exciting, and proves to be much more complex under the surface. Souma-san's songs can have many interpretations, but I'm assuming that what's being described in mm is nothing good. And it does it perfectly.

This whole song is perfect, and so difficult to sum up. (I hope you can see that by how much I've written.) And it can be enjoyed by basically everyone, but if you want to take the next step into Souma-san's music, you'll be greatly rewarded by how much you can get out of it. I'm devoted to this song; it was my favourite when the album first came out, and remains my favourite to this day. What a song mm is.

And we're done! It was so fun to write about some of my favourite songs in the world! I hope my rankings are not too outlandish, and that I've put the album to justice! Really, go and listen to Souma Saitou's music.. it's so easy to get into, and then for when one is ready, there is a whole other level of complexity to it. Ah.. but I'm ranking ALL the Fictions songs, yes? Then we're forgetting something....

// ?? :: Tegami

Every one of Souma-san's albums has a 'Secret Track', only available with the physical album. I believe this one is called Tegami, or Letter, a quiet-ish guitar song with drawled singing and bleak lyrics. My god, I love it. I haven't listened to this song much, because it's long (the obligatory long album song) and I don't have a CD player apart from in the car, but this would actually be perfect for a night drive. His voice is magical, enchanting, but not like mm's alluring quality. It's just.. sad. The lyrics are written like a letter, with a message to someone, or to the whole world: 'It doesn't matter if everyone's forgotten about the likes of me.'

I'm not ranking this one. Secret Tracks should be kind of treated differently, not compatible with the whole 'what makes a good song' formula. There was just a need to write about it. It's surreal. (I would say everyone should go listen, but I don't think it's ANYWHERE on the internet, at least not yet! Souma-san does have his other Secret Tracks on Spotify, though!)

UPDATE: CURIO GOES BY IT/ITS PRONOUNS AS OF LATE NOVEMBER 2024. POSTS AND OLD DOCUMENTATION MADE PRIOR TO THIS ARE NOT MISGENDERING IT, THOSE WERE ITS PREVIOUS PRONOUNS. Summarizing, outside of guilt-tripping and getting in people's faces over blocking him because of its incessant begging for people to engage with its female oc's that it creates little to nothing but sexual content for, it has defended abusers, harassed somebody writing a duplicate muse of its, and overall has a lot of bark but no bite when consequences finally rear their head.

Let's first understand the Circumventing System Policy Violation What is the Circumventing System Policy? The Circumventing Systems policy is a very important policy. It compiles a set of guidelines dictated by Google Ads people aiming to prevent advertisers from taking shortcuts or trying to bypass Google´s ad review processes. Yes, there are people always trying to bend the rule. The Circumventing policy is one of many other tools helping Google Ads to be a safe and trustworthy advertising channel not only for Google but also for both us, the users. Do you really think that one of the main income streams of Google will not be well protected? surely it is. But deeper still, Google ads are also a great tool for businesses to grow faster than simply waiting for people to find them on search results. Check what Google says about this: "We take violations of this policy very seriously and consider them egregious. If we find violations of this policy, we will suspend your Google Ads accounts upon detection and without prior warning, and you will not be allowed to advertise with us again." Source: Clarification to Circumventing Systems Policy 🏆 Pro Tip: Do not appeal your account suspensions right away before making the necessary changing. What are the causes that trigger Circumventing Systems policy? Google will tell you what exactly is provoking your Google Ads account to be suspended. If Google's team find your Ads Account/campaigns violations of their policy, Your account will get suspended upon detection. And here is the frustrating part, without prior warning. Then you will have to go to advertise to another platform or create another Google Ads account using another email. Because the email is linked to the Google Ads account that violates the Circumventing System Policy you will not be allowed to advertise with Google again. Possible Cause - Not having a privacy policy declared on your LP: - Solution: You and everybody using Google Ads need a privacy policy. This is something that Google doesn't really make super obvious to us, I wonder why! But we need a privacy policy on the landing page that we're sending people to from our Google ads so make sure you add a privacy policy, terms and conditions, and all that different kind of legal stuff to your LP footer menu at least. Circumventing Possible Cause - Malicious scripts on your website or your website has been hacked: - Solution: Make sure that your website has not been hacked because sometimes if there is some kind of malware or some kind of issue with the main landing page then this could create a flag for the Google system and obviously, they don't want you sending traffic to a website that has been hacked. Possible Cause - Promoting products or services that are not allowed on Google ads: - Solution: You also want to make sure you're not promoting anything that's illegal or frowned upon no counterfeit goods. Of course no selling any kind of prescription drugs or anything that Google might think is a prescription drug. Possible Cause - Various Policy violations too often: - Solution: This is a very common reason why so many Google Ads account gets suspended because of Circumventing. You need to keep an eye on what you say, how you say it, and what type of banner or creatives you are using that might be considered a violation of any Google Ads policies. Possible Cause - Using trademarked words in your ads: - Solution: Trademark Policy exist, and it is there for this reason; to avoid us using words like Amazon, FedEx, eBay, etc. in the text of our Ads. We're not allowed to use a trademarked business name in our ad copy Circumventing Possible Cause - Payment issues: - Solution: Let´s dive a bit deeper into this possible cause, shall we? Make sure that you are not trying to abuse the coupon code system. In case you don't, know Google often gives out some credit to new Google Ads accounts and what many people will try to do is they'll start an account and use that credit, then go start another account and use the other new credit and just keep doing this to get free money. But if Google catches you they're going to ban you from ever being able to use Google ads. And it's not worth it! There can also be issues with unpaid balances, where you charge a bunch of money to your account but then you cancel your credit card. Another example of this payment issue is where you do chargebacks.For example, Google charges you 500 USD for running their ads and then you call the credit card company and tell them you know what I didn't spend that money with Google. then the bank will go like Oh, OK, let's chargeback that money to your card. Please don't do this, it is dirty and it's not worth it. Ignorance is kind - But there's no comfort in the truth Yes, it is a line from a song but fits perfectly here. Because sometimes you receive the management of a Google Ads account that was so badly handled, that a simple mistake from your side, can lead to its final Circumventing suspension. But you don't have to start running any new ads campaign without first making sure that everything is in order on your campaigns. You see, these causes and solutions listed above, will save you and your business a lot of headaches. All you need to do is to evaluate all areas of your ads groups, check that everything is inside the right parameters, using these guidelines, and I am 100% confident that you will have a long-lasting Google Ads account. When it came to internships applications for assessment 2, we were to review other peers work and provide feedback. Providing and receiving peer feedback helps students process class activities and criteria when it comes to their writing (Huisman et al. 2018). When we were first reviewed by our peers on our resumes, cover letters and LinkedIn profiles, I was given no feedback on my cover letter, as I didn’t have one for them to review.

Even though I didn’t have a cover letter to review, my previous resume and not completed LinkedIn profile were up for review. Clayton (2024) stated that my resume was laid out nicely and it had all the information required but my resume page may look too overwhelming and all the information was packed onto the page, which I agree on as school had told me that a resume had to always be one page long and nothing more. We have now been advised that resumes can be 1-2 pages long, which has helped when it comes to adding everything in.

When it comes to my LinkedIn profile, I had only just recently updated prior to this review, which helps with the positive feedback that I had received. According to Clayton (2024) “all fields were complete, good experience, photo, skills and interests and all education, volunteering and licenses and certificates were listed” were included in my resume in her review attached below. There were some adjustments needed, with my about section needing to be revamped and the possibility of adding a cover photo and some more skills. These are little adjustments that will take no time to change.

Review and feedback form (Clayton, 2024).

After we had time to change the elements that were identified, I had both Matthew Jerram and Ethan Yon review all 3 platforms and give feedback. My new cover letter was acknowledged as “well formatted, heavy detailed and written nice and clear” by Yon (2024) and had “referenced previous experiences and was well written” according to Jerram (2024). Although, there was plenty of positives, Jerram (2024) had noted that I didn’t find a recipient to address the cover letter to, which was due to the application not stating one at the time and that I needed to “highlight my degree” (Jerram, 2024) more, which are easy fixes.

When it comes to my resume Jerram (2024) stated that it consisted of multiple experiences but may be crowded with all the information, which I find that more information is best. Yon (2024) had voiced that it was formatted pleasingly and listed my experiences and needed no improvements.

Finally, with my LinkedIn profile, Yon (2024) thought my photo was idle and both reviewers liked what I had written in my about section. According to Jerram (2024), I had a brief URL but needed to engage more due to the lack of posts on my page. I have never posted on LinkedIn, as I’ve barely used it but will definitely be posting more in the future. I have added the two new feedback reviews below.

With this verse, Opal is used to the finer things in life simply for upkeep, name-brand clothing, manicured nails, and simple but expensive jewelry. She is something to show off, a glorified housekeeper, entertainment, and a sexual object. This life has made her very unhappy so she turns heavily to alcohol and drugs to numb herself. Since her Master doesn’t care much once her daily duties are taken care of she tends to sneak out to bars or to party. With this verse, Opal tends to meet people through her sneaking out or through her Master’s grand parties to show off.

With this verse, your muse may be Opal’s Master by purchasing her from a previous Master. She can be traded for money, favors, belongings, or whatever her previous Master was willing to negotiate with. For whatever reason your muse has decided against creating a new Jembax and simply wants to bargain for her. Being a pre-existing Jembax she’s not as valuable as a custom-made Jembax, but her considerable appeal is how trained and educated she is. Her biggest downside is that she has been a Jembax for many years and had many cruel Masters before your muse and is quite depressed and may even go through withdrawal due to her previous lifestyle.
