No Way (4) - G Dragon/Kwon Ji-Yong
Pairing: asshole!GD x fem!reader Summary: He wants a divorce. WC: 3755 Part 1 || Part 2 || Part 3 || gd masterlist
Tumblr media
The silence after Jiyong's mom left your apartment was palpable. With his face still stinging and your eyes red and puffy, you looked at each other in silence. Jiyong knew that words couldn't fix everything, so he chose to be quiet. There were many things running through his head and you wished you knew what he was thinking about. God, you wished you knew.
Was he guilty?
Was he sorry about it?
Was he thinking of you and your family?
Was he thinking of her?
Jiyong stared at you and he wanted to know what you were thinking. Ever since this whole thing, he didn't know how to read you anymore and it scared him. He used to know how every furrowed brow is different, what every smile meant, when you felt tired, and now, he's lost. The spark in you has left and he knew it was his fault, but he didn't understand why he did what he did.
Eventually, you broke the silence.
"I'll go get you some ice." You whispered before making your way to the fridge to retrieve the ice pack you kept in the freezer.
Jiyong didn't know a lot of things, but he knew one thing: that ice pack is a symbol of the coldness he's about to receive from you.
Symbolisms were reoccurring things in your relationship with Jiyong. Specifically, 11:11. He didn't believe in it at first. He just thought Youngbae was being so sickly romantic about it.
"Just make a wish when you stumble upon it. I swear! It'll change your life." Youngbae happily said as he closed his eyes to make a wish.
"How does that even work? You just-"
"Shh, I'm wishing." Youngbae said with eyes closed. Jiyong rolled his eyes and waited for him to finish. Youngbae looked at him and said, "Just make a wish, but don't tell anyone or else it won't come true."
"You guys talking about 11:11, huh? My best friend Y/N told me the same thing. I thought she was going crazy!" Daesung laughed. "Maybe she's right."
"Are you guys just saying this because it's 2011? Or is this actually a thing?" Jiyong raised a brow in suspicion. He had never heard of this 11:11 nonsense.
"It's actually a thing." Daesung and Youngbae said at the same time. Seunghyun heard the whole thing and snickered, "Just wish for a girlfriend and if you get one, then you'll know it's true."
The next time Jiyong stumbled upon 11:11, he muttered, "Let's try this shit out, I guess." He wished for a girlfriend over and over until 11:12 rolled around. He looked at his watch and shrugged. There was no harm in trying, right?
To his surprise, his wish came true. He had a slew of girlfriends, but the relationship never really lasted long. Jiyong kept wishing and wishing and when his last girlfriend broke up with him before 2012 ended, he decided enough was enough. Or so he thought.
Daesung had invited the guys to your year-end party that was held at your childhood home. Being the introvert that he is, he knew he wanted the guys to go with him. Besides, it gave him a chance to introduce you to them.
When all of you were introduced, you were whisked away by your other friends, dragging Daesung with you. The guys sat on the couch and helped themselves with the snacks on the coffee table. At one point, Daesung joined them, his social battery already drained before midnight.
Jiyong got up from his seat on the couch and said, "I need some air." The other guys nodded and he went out to the balcony and breathed the cool night air. He looked out and realized you may be the luckiest girl to grow up in such a rich neighborhood. The view was amazing and he was sure you felt like a princess living in a palace.
He glanced at his phone and he snickered to himself. Of course, it was 11:11. He sighed to himself and wished that the next girl he sees is the girl he's going to marry. Just as he finished wishing, you stumbled outside and smiled. "There you are!" You said cheerfully.
He looked at you and he never really got to see you properly. Now that he was staring, he found you beautiful. He didn't know why Daesung didn't introduce you immediately, but if he were in Daesung's shoes, he would've done the same thing and gatekept you for a little while longer.
"The guys are looking for you. Besides, it's time to get settled. It'll be midnight soon. If you don't leave the balcony, I'm afraid we won't see you until next year." You joked and he chuckled, looking at the ground.
"I'll be right there." He replied. You nodded at him before leaving. He looked up at the sky and said, "Universe, you answer my wishes real quick."
11:11 had been a staple in your relationship. It was your lucky time.
It was summer of 2013, on 11:11, when he asked you to be his girlfriend. You were both at a beach and he gave you a pretty seashell. "This seashell is as pretty as you." He said as he handed it to you. You blushed and thanked him. "But I think you'd be prettier in my arms. Will you be my girlfriend?" He was tremendously nervous, but all his nerves went away when you pulled him into a deep kiss. "Does that answer your question?" You asked playfully as he gave you a gummy smile and kissed you again.
He proposed on 11:11 too. It was your 5th anniversary as a couple and he was so happy that both of you lasted so long. He knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with you. You were so happy.
Since every milestone in your relationship happened on 11:11, you decided to get married on, well, 11.11. It was a beautiful wedding with motifs of white and blue. It was truly magical.
11:11 was such a special hour. You gave birth on 11:11 too. It was the best wish you and Jiyong received (aside from each other, of course). You didn't know what happened after that, but everything started falling apart.
He came home at 11:11 PM, smelling like another woman's perfume and you knew everything was broken.
Jiyong glanced at the clock and it read 11:11. You handed him the ice pack and said, "I'm going to sleep."
"Make a wish before you sleep. It's 11:11." He said softly as he placed the ice pack on his cheek. You smiled sadly and said, "I stopped believing in that the moment you first went home smelling like another woman's perfume, but thanks for the consideration. Good night."
You left and he frowned.
-
It had been days since that moment and here he was backstage at BigBang's comeback concert. The guys were avoiding him, but not so much that staff would be suspicious about it. If you asked him, he thought the guys were Oscar-winning actors for the stunt they're pulling.
Seunghyun was trying so hard to keep a conversation with him because he knew he needed chemistry with him for Zutter.
Youngbae was fuming. He had been quiet since the whole debacle, but he wanted to say a bunch of shit. He was just waiting for the right time.
Daesung had nothing to say. He said everything he wanted to say that day at your apartment while you were out with Seunghyun. When Jiyong tapped his shoulder, all he said was, "I have nothing to say to you." Jiyong never tried again after that.
You were at home, crying your eyes out as you read through the divorce papers Jiyong gave you months ago. Seo-yeon was staying at Jiyong's parents' house as you sorted everything out. You moved some of your things at Daesung's place because you knew you had to stay somewhere after the divorce. You didn't want to stay at your shared apartment.
Fate was funny, especially when truth and karma joins in. Everything happened all at once and in a twist, it all happened at a certain hour:
Jiyong's mistress was browsing through her pictures to post on Instagram and by mistake, she clicks on her risqué selfie with Jiyong and posts it on her Instagram along with her recent vacation photos. She wouldn't know her mistake until minutes later.
Jiyong and the guys thanked the fans for coming to their concert. They all faked a smile at each other and gave each other a hug before bowing to their fans. They all left the stage after that.
After staring at Jiyong's contact for an hour, you wiped your tears and texted: I'm signing the papers.
When Jiyong checked his phone at 11:15, his heart dropped because of two things: he read your text and his mistress' photos go viral because of her mishap. He heard multiple pings behind him as he stopped walking and he knew that it now reached the guys.
Seunghyun walked up behind him and gave him a pat on the back, "Congrats! Everyone knows that you're an idiot now."
Youngbae walked past him and said, "I'm so fucking happy right now."
"~Karma is a god. Karma is the breeze in my hair on the weekend. Karma's a relaxing thought. Aren't you envious that for you it's not?~" Daesung smugly sang as he walked a little slower, looking at Jiyong dead in the eyes as he sang the last line. He snickered before shaking his head, leaving Jiyong behind.
Jiyong felt nauseous. His head was spinning and the whole venue felt stuffy. He was panicking and he didn't know what to do. Just as his vision blurred with tears, his phone rang: it's his mistress.
"What the fuck did you do?!" Jiyong shouted through the phone. "Why did you do that? Did you know how much you just jeopardized my career?!"
"Whoa, look, I'm sorry. If you ask me, you ruined your career the second you cheated on your wife! I'm not the bad guy here!" She argued through the phone.
"You don't get to pretend you're a good person now. You actively went after me too and you knew I was married. You had the choice to say no, but you didn't. You're just as bad as I am." Jiyong seethed as angry tears stream down his face. His face was red and the staff made sure to stay out of his way as he started walking to the dressing room.
The three guys heard everything from their shared dressing room and they all snickered. "He deserved it." Daesung said.
"True." Youngbae nodded. "What's Y/N up to?"
Daesung shrugged, "She never replied. I'm guessing she's asleep now."
You weren't.
You saw the post.
You saw the comments.
You were numb.
You didn't want to face anyone, so you turned off your phone and curled up in bed. You turned to face Jiyong's side of the bed and sighed as nw tears streamed down your face. "Why did we have to end up this way?" You whispered and cried to yourself. You never expected your marriage to go south the way it did. You cried yourself to sleep and by the time Jiyong came home, his eyes were like yours. He wasn't even sure what he's crying about. He glanced at the door of your shared bedroom and stood outside for a while. He hesitated, but he reached for the doorknob and was surprised to see that it was unlocked; like it was left unlocked on purpose.
He opened the door and he saw your sleeping figure, hugging his pillow. He smiled sadly and went inside before closing the door behind him. He crouched down in front of your face and he gently brushed your hair away from your face. You stirred in your sleep and Jiyong froze. You slowly opened your eyes and stared at him.
"You were always a light sleeper." He said softly.
"You cried." You stated. He nodded, "You did too."
Both of you stared at each other in silence. Tears were threatening to spill from your eyes, but you were so tired of crying. You've already been crying for months.
"I'm-" Jiyong started, his voice cracking a little bit. "I'm sorry, Y/N. Truly."
"That's all I wanted to hear, Ji." You croaked out as you cried in front of him. Seeing you like that made him cry too. He sat down on the bed as you sat up and looked at him. "You have no idea how long I've waited for an apology." You breathed.
"I'm sorry it took so long." Jiyong confessed. "I was just being prideful. I'm sorry for hurting you the way I did, Y/N. There's no excuse."
You cried and nodded. He pulled you in for a tight hug as both of you cried. It was messed up; you were hurt by the man you love, but he was the only one who could comfort you. He kissed the top of your head and pulled away, "I really did love you. Please remember that. I was just being a dick. I know you've seen the post. It was everywhere, after all."
You could only nod.
"I'm so sorry." He said.
"Ji, are you crying because you hurt me or are you crying because of your career?" You asked carefully, not knowing if he'll get angry.
"Both." He said, staring off into space. "I wish I never did what I did. I wish I just fixed it when you gave me he chance a few months ago. If I did, my career wouldn't end up like this."
You nodded slightly.
"I got your text, by the way." Jiyong said as he looked at you, eyes red and puffy. "Did you sign it?"
"I wanted to, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. I know I said that I'd sign it, but I couldn't. It's so hard to do. This is the only love I've known, Ji. I can't afford to lose it."
"I think you should sign it, Y/N. You deserve to be happy; you deserve a do-over. I'm aware of the shitty things I did now, so please accept the freedom I'm willing to give you. You can break free from this marriage and I'm allowing you to."
"But I still love you, Ji." You whimpered. Tears streamed down Jiyong's cheeks once more and he said, "And I'll always love you. I'll always have love for you and I'll forever see you as my wife. It's never a question of whether you still love me or not. I just want you to get away from all this and start new and I'll always support you whether you want to get married to someone else or not. You just deserve to be happy after all this shit."
"Take your time, my love." He added.
The next day, you woke up to a quiet apartment. You found yourself snuggly tucked in bed and you guessed Jiyong tucked you in after crying yourself to sleep. You got up from bed, stretched, and walked out of your cold room. Your feet padded on the cold floor and you heard voices coming from Jiyong's office.
You quietly opened the door and saw Jiyong standing up, facing the window, not knowing you were watching. His left hand was clutching his phone which was raised on his ear while his right hand was on his hip. He looked ghostly. His face was pale, he was skinnier than usual, his hair was disheveled, and his eyes were tired and puffy. He looked... awful. You had never seen your husband like that.
"So what do you suggest I do?" Jiyong asked, his voice hoarse. "I didn't even post that shit. It's all that girl's fault."
He paused before he closed his eyes and inhaled deeply through his nose and exhaled with a loud huff, "No, I don't have contact with her anymore. I deleted her contact this morning, but before I deleted it, I asked her to take down the post and thankfully, she did. I know it doesn't fix anything because it's most likely everywhere at this point, but at least the source of it is deleted.... No, I broke it off with her already.... Y/N? Let's not talk about her. She's already hurting. I don't want her dragged around for this. I messed up big time, but she's still my wife. Even I'm not that cruel."
He turned his head and saw you standing by the door. He gave you a tight lipped smile, "Let's talk about this later. I have stuff to deal with right now. I think it's best if we just let it die down before I clear anything up.... Alright. Bye."
He hung up before he walked towards you, "I didn't know you were up."
"Yeah, I just woke up." You whispered and he nodded.
"I hope you're hungry. I cooked breakfast." He said softly as he walked past you with you trailing behind. When you reached the dining area, he motioned for you to sit down as he filled your plate with the food he cooked. "I, uh, I looked up a few recipes. I hope the seaweed soup I made is at least up to par." He said shyly, chuckling to himself. He laid down your plate in front of you and to his credit, it smelled good. You watched as he filled his plate and both of you sat down.
The food was surprisingly good. You ate in silence, neither of you wanted to address the elephant in the room. When he was done eating, he stared at you as you ate slowly.
"I bought us some ice cream. I'll go get it." He said before he rushed off to get it from the freezer. When he came back with ice cream, you were already finished eating.
As soon as both of you were done eating ice cream, Jiyong cleared the table and washed the plates. He even cleaned the table and filled your glass with water.
"If you need anything, just knock on my door. I'll just do damage control. Meanwhile, please don't go online." He pleaded.
"I never intended to." You said.
He nodded, "Good. Keep yourself busy." He turned and went straight to his office to make a few calls. You heard him shut the door and sighed before going to your room and packed a few of your things to send to Daesung's place.
Later that day, Jiyong issued an official apology to you, the boys, his management, and his fans. He told everything from the beginning; from when he first cheated until the most recent. If your Instagram notifications weren't going off before, they were now.
-
You signed the divorce papers three days later. When you did, Youngbae and Seunghyun decided to pick you up from your shared apartment. Jiyong watched as the guys took some of your things; the things that are already in boxes. They all glared at him and didn't say anything.
Well, at one point, Youngbae said, "You're not the man I grew up with. I truly hope I get to see him again, but I guess now isn't the time."
That stabbed Jiyong's heart.
When they were done, you and Jiyong stared at each other. "I hope you'll be happy. Daesung's place is pretty cozy." Jiyong said softly.
You nodded, "I hope you'll be happy as well. I know how hard you worked for your career to happen and I hope you don't lose the fire you have in you."
"Thank you for everything, Y/N. I wish things were different, truly." He smiled softly. "Best of wives and best of women."
You smiled at him as tears clouded your vision. "I wish things were different too. Thank you for everything."
You gave each other one last hug before you heard someone clear their throat. You both pulled away and saw Daesung leaning against the front door. "Wait downstairs, Y/N." He said coolly.
You nodded before glancing at Jiyong one last time and kissed his cheek. You grabbed your bag and walked past Daesung to go wait downstairs.
"Dae, you're here."
"Surprise." Daesung said in a low voice as he made his way towards Jiyong. "Congratulations on ruining your marriage, by the way. Here, I thought being stupid is just one thing, but you invented a new kind. It's obvious that you never thought anything through before that first mistake because you went and did it again and again. I thought songs were only stuck in replay, turns out mistakes can be in replay too."
"Daesung-"
"You just redefined what EVERYONE thought about you. Congratulations!"
"Hey, I sacrificed my career when I posted my apology! I sacrificed everything I worked hard for, Dae. Don't you realize that?!" Jiyong shouted.
Daesung scoffed, "Sacrifice? You don't know the meaning of that. Sacrifice is everything that Y/N did for you. She stayed married to you even after you asked for a divorce, she sacrificed her career to be a full time mother to Seo-yeon and a full time wife to you, she spent many nights alone in your bed because you were either on tour or fucking someone else in a hotel room, she sacrificed her mental wellbeing just to keep you, and she sacrificed herself just to be seen by you."
"This is how you repay her? Fuck you. I know you never expected me to come here, but I am and I'm not here for you, Jiyong." Daesung glared, his words full of venom. "I know Y/N like I know myself. You'll never find anyone like her and when she told me that night that she liked you, I stood by and SACRIFICED my feelings for her just to see her happy with you. Do you know why I did that?"
Jiyong stayed silent.
"It's because I love her. I love her more than life itself and I will always, always choose her happiness and wellbeing over mine every single time. Whether you admit it or not, Y/N's the best thing that ever happened to both of us, so don't you ever forget that you've been blessed with the best wife and fumbled it." Daesung finished. He looked at Jiyong up and down before saying, "Good luck in life."
With that, Daesung turned around and left, leaving Jiyong standing in a half empty apartment.

you're my good day

GD meets you as a part of production for Good Day, you two hit it off quickly and he quickly finds himself smitten with you.
( ao3 link )
Tumblr media
Out of everything you could’ve expected out of your career, your manager reaching out to you and letting you know that G-Dragon had invited you to be a part of his TV show was a surprise. As a solo artist, you had struggled with the other groups to make your mark on the industry. The call was a dream come true, almost impossible to believe. Over the months before production, the wait was agonizing- but now, that day was finally here. Where you would finally meet him, and find out what your fated meeting would bloom into.
Given a while to prepare, you still couldn't help but check yourself yet again in the mirror before you headed out. You made sure your outfit didn't look silly, not a thread out of place… of course, double-checking the time again before rushing out to be sure. A part of the show was ‘pretending’ to run into you on the street, so you waited on the sidewalk, glancing warily at each passing car.
In the distance, a camera focused on you as the car, his car, finally showed itself amid the crowd of those driving by. The inconspicuous vehicle slowed to a stop in front of you, the back window pulling down as Ji-yong met your faze from inside. For a somewhat formal meeting, it was more than you could've expected on top of being invited in the first place.
“Ah, it's good to see you! Please, come in,” He spoke, his warm voice greeting you, tilting his head politely to motion you inside as well.
Despite the cameras filming the moment, the rest of the world managed to melt and blur as you focused on him. Feeling a flush come to your face from just that, you quickly sped around the back of the vehicle and joined in the seat, closing the door and buckling in.
The driver, silent until this moment, took a look at you from the rearview mirror, “You’re the idol that we had been planning to meet. Isn’t that right?”
Faced with Ji-yong’s driver, you nod politely before remembering you of course ought to speak, “Right, that’s me. It's very good to meet you.”
Beside you, Ji-yong perked up and bowed, that familiar 90-degree out of politeness even sitting before returning his gaze to you,  “Hearing about your career, I couldn't help but be impressed with your work. I was so excited when I managed to invite you here.”
His voice was light and still so charming, tugging on a silly bunny hat he wore and pressing it up to hide behind as he spoke to you. How nervous he seemed to be in your presence was as charming as it was to have someone of such notoriety take interest in yourself.
Your heart raced as you tried to process his words. G-Dragon, the icon of K-pop, was impressed by your work. It seemed surreal.
"Thank you so much," you managed to say, your voice slightly trembling. "I'm honored to be here. Your music has been a huge inspiration to me."
Ji-yong's eyes crinkled as he smiled, lowering the bunny hat slightly. "That means a lot to hear. I've always believed in supporting fellow artists, especially those who are working hard to make their mark."
The car glided smoothly through the streets as you chatted, the initial nervousness slowly melting away.
"Let's speak casually now? So, tell me," Ji-yong asked, glancing over with a curious smile, "what's your creative process like?"
"It’s a bit chaotic, to be honest," you replied, chuckling. "I need my space, but once I get into the zone, it's like everything just clicks. What about you? How do you tackle your projects?"
Ji-yong nodded thoughtfully. "I get that. For me, it's all about finding the right inspiration. Sometimes it hits me at the most random moments.”
He then leaned closer, his tone sincere. "What about your struggles as a solo artist? I can relate as I’ve started my own, it can be challenging."
You sighed, "Yeah, it can be. There's pressure to always do more, and be more. But it's also rewarding seeing your vision come to life.
"And your hopes for the future?" he prompted, leaning forward slightly in his seat. All of his attention was on you, his eyes flickering from your own over your face. The man in front of you was taking all of you in, happy to learn more from you.
"Honestly, I just want to keep growing, keep making music that resonates," you answered, feeling more at ease with his encouragement.
Ji-yong grinned, adding a playful note, "And maybe a world tour someday?"
You laughed, now it sounded so far away- only hosting concerts in Korea from going across the globe, "That would be amazing, we’ll see where the journey takes us."
The conversation flowed effortlessly, making the drive feel like a shared adventure. Outside, the nature and buildings of Seoul sped past in a matter of moments.
“We’re finally here,” Ji-yong nodded, motioning outside of the car as it pulled to a stop in front of a small cafe, “Wait a moment for me.”
Curious, you sat back as he exited the seat. You were still buzzing from the excitement of the conversation, willing your hands to be still and watching as the driver left as well. For a moment you were left alone in the backseat, undoing your buckle and briefly considering leaving on your own altogether.
As long as it felt, the moment cut short with the sound of the door beside you opening and Ji-yong smiling from the other side of it. It seemed even after familiarizing himself, he couldn’t help but be a gentleman. There was a faint pink flush on his cheeks, though perhaps you were imagining it…
“Ah, thank you,” You smile, stepping out of your seat and joining him on the sidewalk.
The crowd luckily didn't seem to notice the celebrity dressed as he was, and you two were quick to step inside the building before anyone could see the two of you. The inside of the cafe was modern yet felt like stepping into home at the same time. Stepping ahead of you, Ji-yong walked with a noticeable spring in his step and claimed a table, patting it to motion you to sit in front of him with a small grin.
Joining from the other side, you couldn't help but look around and marvel at how this almost felt like a date. Even knowing beforehand the two of you would meet to eat together as you spoke of his plans didn't stop how exhilarating it felt. From in front of you, the rapper fiddled with his rings and kept sneaking glances at you from behind his sunglasses. As you met his gaze, he was quick to look away and play it off as cool as he was able to.
His false nature of seeming cool and being so excited to meet you was his charm, smoothing over a menu to you and reciting his order without needing to look. Overwhelmed by it all, you repeat his order and slide it away. It was possible to make sense of the letters with him in front of you, looking at you expectantly and tugging at his hat.
“Right, I’ve been dragging you along for a while now,” he said, a mischievous grin spreading across his face as your steaming cups of tea were set down before you. Steam floated off the ceramic and curled into the air, a warm atmosphere created between the two of you.
You blew gently across the surface of your tea, the anticipation bubbling inside you as you took a sip. The rich, refreshing flavor was a perfect treat to ease your nerves as you waited for him to continue.
“Every year, Korea used to host this incredible event where artists gathered to collaborate and celebrate through music. But lately, they haven't had an opportunity to host it,” he explained, taking a moment to savor his cup. You could see a flicker of excitement in his eyes, though the nervous fidgeting betrayed his eagerness. “So, I’ve been thinking...what if I host my event, with you as one of the featured artists?”
Your heart raced as your eyes widened, almost losing your grip on your tea. You barely managed to hold back from a spit-take aimed towards your favorite artist. It felt almost unreal, even though you’d secretly been dreaming of an invitation like this. An opportunity for your career and to bring people together once again. The thought of being closer to him and celebrating your passions together sent a thrill coursing through you.
“I-I… wow, I’d love that!” you chuckled, scrambling to find the right words. You could see the spark of excitement in his eyes as he leaned in closer, a warm smile endearing you further.
“Then, I’m looking forward to working with you!” Ji-yong declared, and at that moment, amidst the cameras and crew, it felt like it was just the two of you.
Still struggling with how to celebrate, you set your drink down and glance at the cameras keeping their focus on the two of you. Peering down, you can’t help but notice your hands are shaking. Your brief break in attention was of course noticed by the artist, a view of cutely done nail polish entering your vision.
Not far from yours, Ji-yong reached out to you. Nearly holding onto you.
“Hold on, just a moment, won’t you?” He spoke, and just like that the hands in your vision disappeared.
Looking up, you got to catch a peak of him sneaking off into the back of the cafe. Chuckling shakily, you glance into the camera as he scampered off. A moment of silence hung in the air, leaving you with the buzzing realization of the opportunity laid out to you. Even if you knew it would be a large production, you tried to tell yourself not to expect too much-
It was still him, and he was still interested in you. The anticipation building up to the event would surely drive you mad, not to mention how he'd strung you along for it. Yet, somehow you couldn't be upset or let it bother you.
Tapping the table with a hint of impatience, you found your attention drifting toward the window, each passing moment stretching further as you waited for his return. The world outside was shrouded in a gentle haze. It had just rained, and a foggy and moody atmosphere took over the outside world. Then, amidst the indistinct shapes and colors, you suddenly spotted him. His figure was too recognizable, his cap pushed over his brow, and his scarf wrapped around tied underneath his chin. Though of course it wasn't that to distract you, it was what he held.
In his hands, he clutched his phone, aiming it toward you with a playful glint in his eye. A scoff escaped your lips as you threw your head back, trying to avoid his pictures. Curiosity consumed you, though, so you couldn't help but return your faze toward him, an accusatory glance at him.
A gleeful smile danced on his lips as he reveled in your playful struggle to escape his impromptu photoshoot. Unable to contain himself, he waved at you before his hand returned to his phone. He tapped it again, capturing yet another picture of you. Rolling your eyes playfully, you nodded your head to beckon him back inside. With a comedic bow, he ducked through the door, holding up his phone toward you proudly as he re-entered.
The screen was illuminated with Instagram, and you couldn't help but gaze at the image displayed- there you were, poised at the table, caught in the act of waiting for him to come back. Practically at the edge of your seat. Was it that easy to read how desperate you were? The sight made your cheeks flush; he was giving his followers a sneak peek, though tagging you in a candid shot almost felt too intimate.
“Oh, you like to tease me, don’t you?” you chuckled, leaning back and pulling out your phone as a playful means of revenge, a smirk curling on your lips.
Caught off guard but not resisting, Ji-yong leaned closer, his grin widening as you lifted your camera, framing the perfect shot of the two of you. He flashed a peace sign, his infectious smile lighting up the space between you. His warmth radiated even through the layers of fabric. The little contact sent electrifying sparks through you.
Just as you snapped the picture, your face scrunched in the middle of a blink, Ji-yong grabbed up the phone from you. "Let’s share this one,” he teased, already preparing to post the image before you could process how silly you must have looked. The moment your eyes adjusted to the screen, you caught sight of your expression. It almost resembled the middle of a sneeze while the man beside you got to look cool and cute all at once. Embarrassment washed over you, and beside you, Ji-yong erupted into a soft giggle. He leaned against you, his head nuzzling into your shoulder like a playful cat.
“Ah, I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist!” he apologized as he finally managed to calm himself back down, swiping a hand across his face to catch the little budding tears of joy from the moment.
Pouting slightly, you decided it was time for a little payback. You pushed your phone into his hands, a playful glimmer in your eye. “Then to make up for it, you owe me your phone number as compensation.”
It was almost a shot in the dark, playing your luck to the man next to you. If he'd be allowed to embarrass you, then he ought to pay you back. A moment of doubt hung as you worried it might've even been too forward. At this, Ji-yong’s expression shifted, an eyebrow raised in a teasing challenge as he opened your contacts, ready to add his information. “And after I do, you’ll forgive me, then?” he teased further, typing for a moment before handing the phone back to you, a twinkle of mischief lingering in his gaze.
Your heart raced as you glanced at the screen, realizing it was indeed his number- charmingly labeled as ‘Ji-yong 💛’. You hastily covered the phone’s screen with your hand, glancing nervously around to make sure nobody had captured the moment. The cameras around didn't seem to notice yet, thankfully. A wild look escaped you, wide eyes sent his way as you struggled to appear casual… His grin widened, and you noticed how his previous nervousness had vanished, leaving behind a bold confidence that palpably radiated from him.
He’d even added a heart beside his name!
Dazed by the sudden rush of emotions, you nodded slowly, excitement bubbling underneath as you squeezed your phone tightly in your grip, “Fine, I forgive you.”
“Perhaps you were acting so nervous to shock me, hm?” You tease him, slipping your phone into your pocket safely.
Ji-yong leaned back, “Maybe. It has been so good meeting you. I'll call later, so you can be sure its me.
Standing from the table, it was a regret to remember of course your encounter would come to a close. But with the promise of being contacted again, and your future group project? It was only a future excitement waiting to happen.
Standing up to bow, you nod as you see him off, “Thank you so much for meeting me, you can count me in.”

I can't find on me to hate Byeong-In because if you think about his point of view that So-yong tried to killed herself because of how unhappy Cheoljong and the palace life made her and how their family made her so miserable at the point to drive her to depression. He had every single reason to hate all of them, and I always felt that it was very ambiguous the way they wrote So-yong feelings towards him. She kisses him back for some seconds till she snaps. She tells him that in her dreams, sometimes her husband looks like him. She trusts him the most and he was the only one who notice that So-bong wasn't So-yong and STILL protected her anyway. His love towards her mixed with how used and mistreated he was by their family although he was a political genius makes all his actions very understanding. They don't know you like I know, youngest minister of War.

Tumblr media
Ever since that night you confronted Ji-yong, he made it his mission to make you want to get a divorce. He kept pushing you away, arguing with you whenever it's just the two of you, coming home late and making you see the marks his mistress left, and overall, driving you insane. He even decided to sleep in his office.
"Ji-yong, if you'll use the bathroom and see that there's no toilet paper, go and put a new one!" You said, exasperated.
He shrugged, "You have hands, don't you? Do it yourself. Also, you were already in there. What's the use of telling me off, if you're already there to refill it?"
He didn't look at you. In fact, he's never looked your way since that night. He avoided you at all costs while making sure he annoyed the living shit out of you. He continued watching tv with a smug grin.
"That's not even-" You sighed and put a hand on your hip. You hung your head low, closed your eyes, and pinched the bridge of your nose with your other hand. You stayed like that for about 3 seconds before standing properly, "I get that you want a divorce, but I don't. I know in your head, we're technically separated, but all I'm asking for is your cooperation."
His smug look faded and he rolled his eyes.
"We live in the same roof. You and I need to help each other and if you don't want our daughter to find out about our marital problems, then help me." You pleaded.
Days go by, and he's still the same.
"Ji-yong, if you want me to still wash your clothes, put them in the laundry basket!!" "Why should I if you're just going to pick up all my clothes, anyway?"
"Don't touch those cookies, Ji! Their for our daughter and her friends. They'll be sleeping over, remember?" "So? Bake a new batch. If you're able to make two dozen cookies now, you can make them again." "I know, but these are special cookies with specific requests from our girl and her friends. Can you not gobble all of the cookies? It's really stressful to make." "So, why'd you make them if it's stressful to make? Geez, Y/N. You're so stupid."
"Hey, I was watching that!" "I don't care, Y/N. There's a tv in our shared room, right? Go use that. There's no tv where I sleep, so this tv is mine."
"Where were you, Y/N?!" "I was at a friend's house. She had a baby shower and-" "I don't actually care where you go or who you see. I was just asking where you were because there's no warm food waiting for me." "You've been here the whole day, and you didn't cook for yourself?" "No. Besides, you said in our wedding vows that you'll cook for me forever. Since we're not divorced, that promise is still a go. Well? What're you doing just standing there? Chop chop!"
Kwon Ji-yong knew his words and actions were a guarantee to break your heart. He loved every single second seeing you frown, hearing you sigh, seeing your tired eyes, and watching your jaw drop after he says something horrific. Leaning back on his office chair, he lets out a satisfied chuckle before lighting a cigarette. Once again, he was satisfied in breaking your heart. He stared out the window for a while in deep satisfaction as he gave a few puffs of his cigarette. His smug grin, never leaving his pretty face. His phone vibrated on the desk and when he checked to see who it was, his smiled a real smile to see that it was his mistress.
"Hey, pretty girl." He answered the FaceTime call with a wide grin before crushing his cigarette on the cigarette bowl and leaving it there.
Meanwhile, you were in the kitchen, holding back tears as you cleaned Ji-yong's mess. Glass was scattered everywhere and he didn't even bother to clean it up. According to him, your favorite mug fell when he went to get his mug and he didn't clean it up because he was in a hurry, despite not having anywhere to go.
You were tired. Boy, were you tired. Everyday, you keep fighting for your marriage and if it wasn't clear before, it was crystal clear now. Kwon Ji-yong didn't want you anymore. The realization started to sink in as you picked up the big glass shards of your favorite mug, tears threatening to spill. That mug held sentimental value to you and he knew that. It was your grandfather's mug and you got it from his things when he passed on. Your grandfather raised you and he was able to see yours and Ji-yong's wedding. A month later, he died in his sleep. It broke you, but Ji-yong was there to hold you. With your current situation, as you stared at the glass in your hand, you wondered what your grandfather would've done if you tell him all this. You didn't care if you looked crazy, but you kept all the glass shards, placed it in a small box and kept it in your drawer. You didn't have the heart to throw it away and that shattered mug is a reminder of when you realized Ji-yong no longer cared or loved you. It was hard to accept, but you'll have to do the same.
Suddenly, you wanted the divorce too. However, your thoughts immediately go to your beautiful daughter: Kwon Seo-yeon. She's only 6 years old and you didn't want her to experience this at a young age. So, you've decided to stay in this one-sided, loveless marriage with Ji-yong for the sake of Seo-yeon.
The next day, Ji-yong woke up feeling sprightly. He stretched his whole body as he let out a big yawn before reaching for the glass of milk waiting on his makeshift bedside table. Although, the glass of milk he was wanting to drink, wasn't there anymore. With his face contorting in confusion, he slowly sat up, rubbed his eyes, and checked again.
It truly wasn't there. Usually, you would wake up earlier than him just to make him breakfast and prepare a full glass of milk for him to drink when he wakes up. He frowned a little bit when it wasn't there. He threw off the blankets from his lap and he got out of bed.
He walked around your shared luxury apartment, humming to himself. He noticed that the apartment was too quiet. It was a weekend and usually, he would hear the tv playing Seo-yeon's cartoons as she sat on the floor and colored. He would also hear pots and pans clanking as you prepared food for the three of you.
Now, it was silent. He didn't like it one bit. He was going to play music from his phone, but quickly realized he left it in his office. As he walked back, he saw the door of your shared room slightly open. He took a peek and he saw you curled up in bed, wide awake, staring at the blank wall.
He slowly pushed the door open and said, "Hey, where's Seo-yeon?"
"With your sister. Play date." You replied in a quiet voice.
He nodded and asked, "How about food? You didn't cook and you didn't prepare my glass of milk." He said with arms crossed.
You slowly sat up, stretched, and looked at him. Not having the energy to deal with his pompous ass, you shrugged. "We're technically separated, right? You have your own world now. Make it yourself."
Ji-yong's jaw dropped as he watched you move around your once shared room and walked past him. He huffed before walking back to his office-turned-bedroom and slammed the door.
It went on like this for a while. He started to notice new things about you.
How you'd keep quiet when he'd steal cookies from Seo-yeon's cookie jar. How you'd keep quiet after seeing all the mess he made. How you'd just replace the toilet paper without yelling at him to do it himself. How you'd given up in arguing with him.
It didn't make sense to him. He looked forward to your arguments and he didn't like that everyday it was anti-climactic with you these days. It was like you didn't have the energy to argue with him anymore.
He sat there and stared at you as you and Seo-yeon talked about her day with her cousin. After a long time, it was his first time looking at you. Like, really looking at you. He saw your tired eyes, chapped lips from dehydration, uncombed hair, and you lost an unhealthy amount of weight.
He frowned at your appearance. He didn't like what he saw. He wasn't disgusted, but he was sad that you didn't take care of yourself anymore.
When lunch was over, he stood by the kitchen island as he watched you wash dishes. "Y/N..." He called softly.
"What?" You said as you continued washing.
"Is there something wrong? I just-" Ji-yong started as he walked towards you. "I'm a little bit worried about you. You don't look healthy. Are you okay? Is something going on at work? I mean, despite this thing between us, you can still talk to me. You know that, right? Just knock on my door and-"
"Knock it off, Ji-yong. I'm fine." You snapped and looked at him. You saw how his eyes widened in surprise. You could tell he didn't expect that. "It's not your place anymore, remember? Go see your mistress."
Ji-yong frantically looked around to see if Seo-yeon was there and sighed in relief when she wasn't. "As much as I want to, she's on vacation with her friends."
You snickered, "Paid by you? I didn't ask where she was and I don't care. Get out of my face." You continued washing the dishes as he stared at you for a while. He didn't who you were anymore which is ironic because he knew you would've said the same thing about him.
The next few months were awfully quiet. The only noise would come from Seo-yeon whenever she'd laugh, sing, dance, and play pretend with Daesung, Taeyang, and Seung-hyun. You and Ji-yong never speak to each other anymore unless there's a family function coming up.
One day, Ji-yong comes home early from practice and was surprised to see Daesung there with Seo-yeon. 'Is she dating Daesung now?' He thought.
'She wouldn't do that to me. Daesung wouldn't do that either.' He assured himself.
Daesung looked at his direction and smiled widely. "Ji-yong!! Look, Seo-yeon, your appa is here!"
Seo-yeon smiled and waved cutely as Ji-yong walked up to her to give her a big hug and kiss.
"I missed you so much, princess. What did you do at school today?" Ji-yong asked, his smile reaching his eyes.
He loved Seo-yeon. All his life he knew he wanted to be a dad and he was extremely elated when he found out you were pregnant. Seo-yeon was his carbon copy; his solid mini me. When she was born, he didn't want to let her go. She's a daddy's girl and he spoiled her endlessly. It made him sad every time he went to work and it made him even sadder when she started going to school. That meant rarely seeing her, but if working would mean he could give Seo-yeon everything in the world, he'd work harder than the devil. He loved being her dad and he wouldn't mind if there was another one on the way, but the universe had different plans.
He met his mistress at a bar. She was a dancer and he was mesmerized by the way she moved and when he got to know her, he immediately fell in love. It was true; she was nothing like you. Both of you were at different ends of the spectrum. It was slow with you, but with her, everything was fast-paced, rushed, exciting, and exhilarating. Ultimately, he was more hyper-fixated on her than he was with you. It wasn't the first time either. When he first cheated on you, it was a mistake, but he got thrilled over the thought of being caught, so kept meeting this girls. But this dancer? She was different. She was his muse now. He wanted to bring her everywhere, but he knew he couldn't. It has to be a secret.
"-and we colored! Then uncle Daesung picked me up." Seo-yeon said cheerfully. Ji-yong smiled brightly at his carbon copy and said, "Really?" Before turning to look at Daesung, who was busy looking at Seo-yeon. Daesung loved her like his own.
"Seo-yeon, tell your appa what we did before going home." Daesung said excitedly. Ji-yong couldn't help, but chuckle at Daesung's excitement. He knew he was being irrational with his thoughts. Besides, Daesung is a brother to him.
Ji-yong looked at Seo-yeon, "What did you do?"
"We had ice cream!" Seo-yeon cheered.
Daesung shook his head, "You're being too humble! I swear, she's just like you, Ji-yong."
'I hope not.' He thought.
"She bought a sandwich and gave it to an old man! You and Y/N are raising such a lovely daughter and I'm honored that I get to witness it. She's so kind and helpful!" Daesung praised as he gave Seo-yeon a high-five.
After a few more minutes of spending time with Seo-yeon and Daesung, Ji-yong stood up to go to his room and freshen up. After that, he was surprised to see Daesung right outside his door.
"You scared me!" Ji-yong exclaimed.
"Sorry." Daesung said shyly. "May I come in?"
"Sure."
"I just wanted to talk to you about Y/N." Daesung started. "Is there something wrong with her?"
"Not that I know of, why?" Ji-yong asked, intrigued.
"It's just that she wrote down my name as Seo-yeon's guardian at school. She's also been asking me to pick her up from school everyday. There's no problem with that because Seo-yeon is like a daughter to me. It just makes me wonder because I know Y/N likes to spend time with Seo-yeon and I know she treasures that little time she has with Seo-yeon before she runs off to play with you." Daesung explained.
"What do you mean by 'she treasures that little time she has with Seo-yeon'?" Ji-yong questioned, raising a brow.
"Well, Y/N told me that after she tucked Seo-yeon in bed one time, she sleepily confessed that she liked you better than she liked Y/N." Daesung said sadly, knowing that it wasn't his place to tell.
"What? How come Y/N never told me this? I mean I'm... I'm her husband, after all." Ji-yong frowned. Husband. He hasn't referred to himself as your husband in such a long time that it's weird to even say out loud.
"She also started losing weight. If it's her choice, then I'm proud and happy for her. It's just that I feel her weight loss was done in an unhealthy manner." Daesung shared. Both were lost in thought until Daesung broke the silence. "You know what? I'll just ask her myself. We talk all the time, anyway."
Before Ji-yong could say anything, Daesung left the room to go find you. He wasn't able to speak to you because dinner was ready and you wanted everyone to sit and eat. Ji-yong sat next to you and put a hand on top of yours, squeezing it lightly. You hastily removed your hand from his, not knowing Daesung saw the exchange.
Daesung offered to help you clean up after dinner as Ji-yong volunteered to help Seo-yeon clean up and tuck her into bed.
Ji-yong loved Seo-yeon. He let her know every day. Her picture is in his wallet and his lockscreen. He looked at his daughter fondly as she picked out a story book she wanted Ji-yong to read. He sat on her bed patiently as she picked out 'The Hare and The Tortoise'.
She giddily sat down next to Ji-yong as she handed him the book. "Do the voices like uncle Seung-hyun."
"Eh? Seung-hyun? He read this to you?" Ji-yong asked, his brows furrowed. She nodded, "Last time he was here, he read that for me with funny voices. He picked me up from school because uncle Daesung had an emerenie."
"Emergency." Ji-yong corrected.
"Yes, emergency!" Seo-yeon smiled innocently. "Will you read to me, appa?"
Ji-yong kissed the top of her head and started reading. Meanwhile, you were in the dining area with Daesung. All the plates, pots, pans, and glasses were already back in their respective places. Both of you were talking in hushed voices while drinking the wine Seung-hyun gave you the other day.
"Y/N, you can tell me anything. Please don't be scared. I saw your interaction with Ji a while ago." Daesung pleaded. "You don't have to suffer alone. I'm your best friend too."
"It's not that I don't want to tell you because I do want to. It's just that if I say it, it's real." You whispered, not trusting your voice. Daesung nodded, "Okay. I won't force you. If you change your mind, I'm just a phone call away."
You didn't know, but Ji-yong heard the conversation after tucking Seo-yeon in bed. He wasn't blind to not see your slow decline. He didn't like it.
As Ji-yong laid in bed that night, he thought about what Daesung told him, he thought about you, and he thought about Seo-yeon basically telling you that he was her favorite. It was all so stressful and if he were in your shoes, he'd slowly sink down too. He couldn't sleep. He checked the time and sighed to himself. It was 1AM and he was wide awake. Wanting to shrug these thoughts off, he got out of his bed (it was a couch that could turn into a bed) and walked out of his room to watch tv.
He passed by your room and stopped when he heard you crying. You were sniffing and his heart broke to hear your broken voice.
"He's had multiple affairs, Dae." You cried into the phone. Daesung was on speaker. You cried for the first time in forever. It felt good to let it all out after holding it in for a long time.
"Y/N! How come you never told me?" Daesung gasped.
"I didn't want you or anyone else to change your views on him. I know deep down he's a good person. I know he wouldn't hurt a fly. He's also a really good father." You explained through your tears.
"Yes, but he's a terrible partner." Daesung said, as you cried even more. Daesung wished he was there to offer his shoulder for you to cry on. "You need a hug." He added.
You nodded, even though he wouldn't see it. "Yeah, I do." Both of you chuckled sadly.
Ji-yong's heart dropped. Now, Daesung knew about his affair. Daesung would probably tell Taeyang and Seung-hyun. He wasn't ready. He didn't know how to feel especially when you listed the good things about him and Daesung ending it with him being a bad partner.
"You should've told me or Taeyang or Seung-hyun." Daesung said, also on the brink of crying. He truly empathized with you. His heart broke to hear his best friend crying, making him want to cry too. "We would've helped you, Y/N. You know that." He said, voice cracking as tears cascaded down his cheeks.
Ji-yong's heart broke even more. It was at that moment, he knew he ruined everything.
"Dae, it's fine. I don't care anymore." You said as you carried the weight of your emotions. "I'll just sign the papers. As much as I love Seo-yeon, I know she'll be happier with her dad. Why do you think I ask you to pick her up instead? She doesn't want me. As painful as it is getting my heartbroken over my husband's affair, my daughter's feelings toward me hurts twice more."
"But Y/N-"
"I've made up my mind, Dae. I planned it all out in my head already. I've already started to look for a place to live. It's much smaller and a lot farther, but I'd like to start fresh. Don't you think I deserve that?"
"Of course you do." He replied, wiping his tears. "I'll miss my best friend, though."
"We can see each other, but maybe not right away. I can handle myself." You said, voice hoarse from all the crying.
Ji-yong couldn't believe what he was hearing. He couldn't believe that you were ready to leave him. He didn't know why he was feeling that way, especially when he was the one who asked for a divorce. He wanted to open the door and pull you in for a tight hug, but he knew he couldn't do that anymore.
"I'm busy tomorrow, but maybe Seung-hyun could go out with you as a distraction? I know he's been dying to spend time with you after being away shooting a movie. He told me he wanted to catch up with you the other day when he picked Seo-yeon up from school, but you told him you were sick that's why he didn't push it."
You chuckled lightly, voice still laced with hurt. "That'd be nice. Maybe I do need a distraction. I'm sure Kwon Ji-yong wouldn't mind taking care of Seo-yeon."
"Wow, full name basis." Daesung joked.
"Yeah. Can you text him for me?"
"Way ahead of you. He already agreed."
"Thanks. You're the best." You smiled a genuine smile. "Let's sleep now. I have a very important date tomorrow. Besides, I want to feel good about myself for once. I've been feeling ugly since..."
"Hey, stop that. Let's not mention her. She's irrelevant. Go and enjoy your day with Seung-hyun tomorrow. I'm sure he's excited to tell you all about his new movie. Go gave fun and go dress up the way you want to. If Ji-yong doesn't care, let him be. He's my best friend too, but I won't tolerate this behavior."
"Thanks, Dae. Good night." You said.
"Good night, Y/N!" Daesung said before hanging up.
Ji-yong stood outside the door. He finally got what he wanted, but why did he feel this way?
