Summary: When Mel hears about a stabbed officer being rushed to the ER, she doesn't realise she's quite familiar with the officer involved.

A/N: I binged the pitt and omg Mel is so girlfriend.

"Incoming trauma, officer involved stabbing incident, ETA 4 minutes. Prep trauma one and alert security." Dana announces, already walking back to the nurses' station.

When you got a domestic call involving a mother and daughter, you were expecting it to be a small cat fight about the dishes or a wrong boyfriend. Instead, you got a full-fledged fist fight involving hair pulling and biting. Just as your rookie tried to get between them, you saw one of them take a switchblade out of their back pocket. As you grabbed your rookie, the now pissed of knide handeling daughter lunged forward, and quickly you felt a thick liquid stain your shirt. She got you in the side of your ribcage, and the last thing you remembered before gaining consciousness is the ambulance was your rookie, franticly calling for an RA and a supervisor

You sighed when you realised which hospital you stopped at, not because it was a bad one, but because your girlfriend worked here, in the ER you were currently being wheeled into, no less. You recognized some of the faces around you, from stories Mel would tell you after a long shift. When you were finally in trauma one, the doctors treating you came in.

"Hey there, I'm Doctor King and this is Doctor - what the hell!?" You smiled awkwardly, knowing the shit storm you were about to enter.

"Morning, love." The secret was out now; no point in hiding it. "Hold on, love? What is she talking about, Doctor King?" The man you figured to be Doctor Robby asked. "God, what happened to you? Why did no one call me?" Your girlfriend asked frantically. You groaned as one of the doctors pressed on your wound, sighing as you said. "Funny you ask, I may have kinda blacked out, so you'd have to ask my very stressed out rookie." You giggled slightly, quickly stopping when you realised it hurt.

"Doctor King, do you want her to bleed out?" The older man asks. Your girlfriend quickly snapped out of her stressed-out coma and turned full doctor mode. “Right! Get me two large-bore IV lines—start fluids, keep pressure up!” If you weren't in pain, you'd probably make a comment about how hot she was when she gave orders like that.

After the doctors made sure there was no internal bleeding and you were stitched up nicely, they moved you to a room so you could sleep off the anesthesia. When you woke up, Mel was right by your side, rubbing your hand with her thumb. "Aren't you supposed to be doing important doctor stuff?" She quickly looked up, smiling widely at you. "You're awake! That's great!" She got out her little flashlight and flashed it in your eyes. "Do you remember what your name is and where we are?" "Yes, ma'am, I am your lovely girlfriend, and we are at PTMC." You say giddily, still a little sluggish from the anesthesia.

"You had me worried sick, you know that?" Your girlfriend blurted out suddenly, a look of tension coming over her features. "I know, baby, I'm sorry." You told her, suddenly feeling a lot more sharpened than before. "I'm just glad you're safe with me again." She smiled, kissing your forehead softly. "Me too, love."
