In my mind, Harlock and Warrius met at the Earth Federation Officer Academy. Young and almost innocent, when the world hadn’t broken them yet. Harlock, already with a reputation: late to drills, brilliant in simulators, hair too long for regulation. And Zero: polished, precise, already a legend at the sniper rifle shooting range.

Everyone assumed they’d despise each other. And maybe they did, at first.

Until one night, after curfew, Harlock sneaked out and illegally climbed up the training hangar dome, and found Zero already sitting there, alone, staring at the stars.

- …Didn’t expect you to be a rule-breaker, Harlock had said.

- What are you gonna do, report me?, Warrius had replied with a smirk.

That was the beginning. Two dreamers, drawn to each other, like opposite poles of a magnet.

I want to write a series of drabbles about that time...

what if instead of romance i wrote a connection that’s slow-burn and charged and vaguely homoerotic and filled with unsaid things and maybe they stare at each other a second too long and maybe one saves the other’s life but like in a way that haunts them forever. no reason
