About the virus, it’s just a normal virus + cats just die sometimes. the reason cats decompose and become violent is because the moonstone has been blocked away and covered up, souls not being able to ascend to starclan. Being stuck in a rapidly decomposing body doesn’t really do any good for your brain

Also here’s a little map of the territory, it’s a lot larger than what’s shown of course but this is just a simplified version
