Since I’ve been doing school online the whole semester, Kirsten’s been by my side every step of the way! She gets to learn the big college level subjects and she’s provided so much comfort this past semester! Even though we had fun, we’re both excited for the semester to be over this week, it’s been a long one for sure.

some adam/fergus Thoughts:

adam has a habit of buying a fergus an ugly printed mug whenever he sees one he thinks fergus might like. personally he hates them with a passion but he likes the joy in fergus’ when he gives them to him

adam is a dog person, fergus is a cat person. they compromised and got two goldfish, pets they equally dislike (”what’s the point of them? all they do is float there looking as fucking stupid as…well…a goldfish)

fergus doesn’t drink a lot any more and usually prefers ordering a j2o in the pub/ adam is always quick to the punch whenever anyone tries to take the piss out of him for it (”not everyone needs to be fucking half-cut all the time. just because you spend your mornings waiting for londis to open for your first can of special brew, doesn’t mean the rest of us have to)

fergus buys adam horrible ties very christmas and birthday. the jury is still out on whether adam actually likes them or not

they used to have seperate wardrobes but eventually, mostly out of sheer laziness, their clothes became mixed up in the same wardrobe. it took a long time for everyone to realise they didn’t actually have the same taste in shirts

their natural sleeping position is spooning. adam assumes the big spoon position 99% of the time and hates how much it melts him when fergus does it

every sunday they drink their morning coffees in bed, savouring the quiet, precious hours they have. there’s an unspoken rule that work cannot be talked about until at least 11 on a sunday

American Girl does not need another white blonde doll. But I know that people will buy her. I’ve already seen comments about how much people “need” her.

I know people will ignore me or argue with me and others who kindly ask people to vote with their dollar by not buying this doll. But I’ll say it anyway.

I know the pictures are really small/not that clear but Kira looks just like Julie.

She does. From far away, it’s hard to see the difference in eye color. To me, the eyebrow design is a little more noticeable of a feature.

It disappoints me to see how similar she is to Julie and to Blaire Wilson. Which wouldn’t be such a big deal if Blaire hadn’t been released only two years ago and is still available. I figure Blaire will have to be retired soon, or else it’s going to look super obvious to everyone that Kira might as well be a rewigged Blaire.

AG has a lot to live up to after releasing Joss and Luciana, who are unique dolls that don’t look like any other dolls, and who have proven to be massively popular. Kira and Blaire can both be made in the Create Your Own generator or by just doing some wig and eye swapping. Now that AG is offering CYO as an option, they’ve really got to step up their game and start releasing GOTYs that are entirely unique. 

But they’re not doing that. By this time they’ve used just about every combination of hair and eye color for light skinned Classic and Josefina face mold dolls, some of them multiple times (Isabelle and Lanie were basically the same doll with slightly different wigs, released only 4 years apart). This would have been a great opportunity to bring back JLY #4′s face mold, or use the Addy face mold, or give her a prosthetic limb, or even to just actually live up to their promise of bringing diversity to the brand. I know we here on Tumblr have talked about all the possibilities of a GOTY who is a girl of color and/or disabled, and we’ve come up with some really outstanding ideas.

I don’t have much of an opinion about her collection, since it’s kind of hard to see the small details of it, but I don’t think that it’ll be enough to make her as popular as some of the past GOTYs have been. I figure a lot of people who have Julie or Blaire or both, or a CYO that looks like them, aren’t going to be in a hurry to get Kira.

american girl really had ZERO native american goty, TWO latina goty, THREE asian (two of them partially) goty, ONE pacific islander goty, and ONE Black goty, and still decided to add another to the FOURTEEN white goty? not to mention after we’ve had white girls of the year for two years in a row and a white historical this year? huh.
