Blind verse Wishlist!

So then, I mentioned before how interesting it’d be to do something with Lavi where he lost his sight completely due to something like an injury on a mission~!

I’ve been thinking about it a lot so here’s a bit of a wishlist for interactions I want to make threads for!

Disclaimer: Interactions don’t have to abide by the wishlist. I just want things to develop naturally, and this is kind of a starting point / idea to how I imagine things probably going.

The hardest thing overall would be dealing with Bookman. What good is an heir to an observational role who can’t see, when he was chosen explicitly because of his sharp eyes? He has no future as a future bookman anymore. He would have to be cut loose.

Word would start to get around, of course.

First to know about Bookman dropping him would be the medical staff (Head Nurse) and other officials within the Order like Komui, as the old man would probably be leaving Lavi officially under their care. There would probably be a lot of concern over his mental health as well as physical, to make sure he’s stable.

The others in the Science Division would likely hear next, such as Johnny, Reever, et cetera and would fret about what they could do to help, maybe pour over anything medical or scientific they might have in a book or from experiment records somewhere that could reverse some of the damage. They try really hard not to mention it though, not wanting to get his hopes up for nothing.

Lenalee probably hears about it next, likely from Komui, who probably said something about it partially because he feels guilty and he’s venting and partly because he knows they’re close and he could probably really use support from a friend.

The Finders start hearing about it and talking, so it isn’t very long before others like Jerry hear about it and try to help with Get Well meals of his favorite foods and such.

Kanda learns of it when he returns from a mission and overhears the Finders, and goes to the infirmary just to see if its a stupid rumor being blown out of proportion or not. He doesn’t talk directly to Lavi about it yet. At first he enjoys the peace and quiet of not being harassed constantly. After a while it starts to feel almost too quiet but he refuses to admit he grew somewhat used to being annoyed.

Allen hears about it on a mission with Link, from Link, who called headquarters to give a report. Allen demands to have the phone to talk to Lavi and promise visiting him as soon as they find the time to return. After he gets back he promises to play music for Lavi when he’s able.

Miranda and Krory learn after that. Miranda frets over him and tries to suggest maybe she can fix it with her Time Record, but its still only temporary and Lavi ends up turning her down.

When Timothy learns, he fervently suggests they can still play games and pranks the same as ever. Lavi entertains his positivity, but doesn’t really share it.

Of course Teidol ends up doting on him like the fatherly sort he is and genuinely grieves for Lavi’s losses, which Lavi both appreciates but also finds difficult to deal with. He’s used to dealing with Bookman’s harshness, not Teidol’s doting.

Noise genuinely sympathizes, but he isn’t overly doting or acts like he’s walking on eggshells. Mostly he gives Lavi advice from experience from when he first lost his sight. Lavi probably appreciates it the most because its a little bit impersonal but practical.

He appreciates the visits and condolences still, and figures out when Kanda comes through even though he doesn’t say anything, except that one time he said “Yuu” and Kanda was just going to leave but gave himself away by scoffing in annoyance. When he finally gets cleared to leave his bed, Lenalee helps lead him around by the hand and just generally makes things cheerful.

Before long though he isn’t getting visits because all of the exorcists have to be away on missions, so he has even less to do or people to interact with and it gets to be really hard on him. He can’t really move around freely without having trouble navigating and risking getting hurt. There’s a lot of things he likes that he can’t do like just read a book. He can’t really seek out familiar faces out of those who always reside at the Order easily because he can’t really even see who’s around him that he knows or doesn’t.

It makes the other exorcists feel really bad later, because they can’t just stop the war to keep him company or anything. It makes Lavi feel worse because he’s also lost his purpose as an Exorcist, not just as a bookman, so he can’t be out fighting and protecting anyone either, since he’s officially not restricted by his duties as Bookman’s heir.

He’s stubborn though so he tries to find ways to cope because if he doesn’t it’s going to drive him crazy.

Eventually he ropes Allen into reading to him, and at the same time teaches Allen to read properly by correcting him every time he stumbles over a difficult word until Allen starts to actually get good at it. He kind of lets Lavi “borrow” Tim to guide him around when no one else is there like a small guide-dog with Lavi usually hanging onto his tail.

He has Lenalee take him all around headquarters and tries to practice following her without holding onto her hand just by sound and impressions of where she is. He gets hurt more than a few times when he misses a step on the stairs or runs into something. Lenalee worries about him as if he hasn’t taken worse knocks from Akuma and Noah out on missions before but of course he brushes it off and insists they keep doing it.

Of course there’s no way the Order is going to overlook his use as an exorcist even when he’s blinded. Everyone knows it, Komui’s been trying to delay it, but no one says it, so Lavi is the first to bring it up when he tries to get Kanda to spar with him so he can develop a new fighting style and he knows Kanda won’t hold back for fear of hurting him. Kanda just kind of shrugs and goes along with it, not really caring if Lavi is blind or not, he’ll still fight him seriously just like he does with Noise because damn straight no Akuma is going to be lenient just because he’s got a handicap that other Exorcists generally don’t. Lavi starts taking more chances on trying to tease and elicit a chase like he used to as well. Sometimes it just ends with him running into something and Kanda just giving up because its so damn pathetic he can’t even bother to threaten anymore, he just yanks Lavi to his feet and drags him towards the infirmary to make sure he didn’t break something else permanently along with his eyes.

He starts figuring out ways to still use his Innocence effectively going off of other’s verbal directions and numbering systems to tell him direction, able to make it work fairly accurately because of how technical his mind works with precise calculations.

He starts doing some simple “trial runs” with easier missions at first and dresses more casually / covers his uniform so he won’t be such a blaring target at first, letting others lead. Its stressful for everyone, but especially Lavi, as he doesn’t view unfamiliar people in much more of a positive light than Akuma. But he starts figuring out how to manage playing support roles to the other Exorcists. Its more passive than he’s used to being in combat, but its better than nothing.–}

Tbh I kind of like all three… like, I could totally see Lavi just following Lena around like a puppy on a leash b/c it’s Lena and he knows she’s someone trustworthy and she’d want to be sure he’s okay and also hormones LMFAO

But ofc she’d have to go on missions and so would the other Exorcists especially later in the series because the battles are getting worse but Johnny’s always around the Order so it’d be someone to keep company when everyone else is away

But fuck yes that would be so damn interesting to have him end up around Tyki because god damn what stupid fucking bad luck to end up with the NOAH of all people when he’s at his most vulnerable and literally has like no way of becoming UNvulnerable any time soon and just…

Okay but just… Lavi losing his eyes somehow (injury on a mission, illness, freak accident, whatever) which other than his mind are pretty much his prized possession and just being so destroyed emotionally like

He has no purpose as Bookman’s apprentice anymore without his eyes to witness events

He has no purpose as an Exorcist because he can’t fight without his sight

He can’t read in his spare time

He can’t run around the Order playing pranks and then running away from people as part of the game

He basically can’t really do anything he tended to do before

Also

Him having to be so god damn dependent on other people when on a lot of levels he doesn’t trust people and he’s been taught to always try and keep a certain distance…

Well that was…unexpected to say the least. Road could very easily make a list of people she would expect to punch out guys that flirted with her, but they were all family members. Before now she would never had considered putting the Junior Bookman on that list.

Why had he done it though? Did he have some vendetta against the guy? Was he trying to spite her by scaring the guy away? Or could it be…was he jealous? She really didn’t know how to react to this.

Headcanon AU HTTYD Lavi. What dragon would he have? Would he live as a nomad or in a tribe? -maybe any additional things you would find of interest to share?

{–Oh boi a HTTYD AU Lavi?

I mean, if he had a choice of ANY dragon ever, I think he’d like the Night Fury (original, I know), because its supposed to be one of the more intelligent types of dragon. But Night Furies are all but extinct, so obviously the chances are astronomical of ever having one.

More Likely, he’d go with either a stoker class dragon (Singetail or Monstrous Nightmare), or a Changewing. He’d probably really like Terrible Terrors though for being small and mischievous and able to cause all kinds of mayhem for their size.

He’d definitely be nomadic, but he’d probably hop from settlement to settlement making himself useful enough to come and go as he pleases as if he’s part of them without opposition, like with trading information, and he’d have no trouble mingling with groups that are enemies to each other like being with Berkians one day and Grimborns the next–}

Ah, well. Generally Lavi doesn’t use them most of the time. He prefers to have a headband or a sort of bandana, mostly because it keeps most of his hair held back out of his face, especially if he’s in the midst of battle.

He can survive without though. Sometimes he’ll wear hoods or hats to conceal himself more easily, especially out in the field on missions when he doesn’t want to be singled out by Akuma or doing work for his records as a bookman’s apprentice.

There are some circumstances where he’ll be more than happy to wear a hat though. Weather conditions are one (rain, extreme cold, extreme sun). The other is if there’s something going on like a game or party and especially if its something silly or ridiculous (all the better if he can stick it on someone who would be far less happy to wear something so stupid!)–}

                                                Neediness
