Artificially Authentic Book of Shadows

I am super new to witchcraft of any kind, tend to lean toward Norse practices and dieties, but see merit in all practices. Former Catholic. I haven't told my family.

Hello! I saw your most recent protection spell post; could you explain a little more what “Florida water” is? 😅 Blessed be!
Yeah, totally!
So Florida Water is a cologne. It's not something you make. If I'm going to be completely honest, I'm still pretty new at witchcraft in general, so I don't really know WHY it is popular or why it has spiritual properties as opposed to like, White Diamonds perfume (so y'all feel free to add more information).
From what I can gather, it's a pretty popular protection, and you can wear it AS a cologne, drip it around your space, draw with it, etc in the same way that you might use other, less innocuous pieces.
I found mine in a metaphysical shop near my house, but I know you can find it on Amazon if you're in a pinch.

Protection “Paint”
I learned this from tiktok, but have since lost the video. This is the first physical ward that I’ve found that I truly felt worked, and it can go anywhere!
You’ll Need:
- a small, resealable jar (a couple of ounces will do)
- paintbrush
- charged water (moon, rain, snow, etc. Anything you want, really)
- florida water
- salt
- ground sage
- rosemary
- basil
- anything else that is water-safe (so be careful with crystals) that you want to mix in.
What you’ll do: Take the small jar and add all your dry ingredients (I go in the order sage, salt, basil, rosemary). Then, add 13 drops of florida water (or any other significant number, like your lucky number or an angel number). finally, add the water to fill up the rest of the jar. Close and shake until the salt is dissolved and everything is fairly well incorporated. Not everything will dissolve, and that is okay. That which doesn’t dissolve will help protect.
Now, either create or borrow a sigil or rune for protection and paint it on you windows and doors. I would go in a bottom corner, as it tends to drip a bit. I also put this on my car windows. Be a little bit careful with wooden surfaces, though, as Florida Water does have a bit of an alcohol content and you don’t want to hurt anything.

I wish you hell: Hex
Tumblr media
This is a hex for when someone has taken advantage of your kindness and love. Best used when you’ve done nothing but wish well, and help someone and they’ve done nothing but hurt you in return.
What you’ll need:
A dandelion or a flower cut out of paper
A lighter
A windy day (Optional but adds power to the intent)
A list of ways they hurt you.
Start by writing a list of all the ways you were hurt and used by this person. Fold that into the smallest square you can. Put this to the side.
Take the dandelion or paper flower in one hand and a lighter in the other. and say “I wished you well, you gave me hell. Now I’ll wish to you what you gave to me.” And flick the lighter, and burn the flower. If you are doing this outside on a windy day, feel the breeze and picture your intent flowing out in the breeze.
Then take the folded list, dig a small hole and bury it.

Powerful spell ingredients that are specifically NOT herbs, oils or crystals
Because magick works best when there are actual real memories and strong emotions tied to the items.
Tumblr media
to attract love in life/increase your or someone else’s happiness:
- your (their) most favourite candy - a colorful ribbon from a gift wrapping - some kid’s love confession letter you found in a library book
to speed up things:
- burnt matches - a watch stem - bus/train tickets - a few torn off sheets from a daily/weekly calendar
to slow down things:
- a snail shell - a queue ticket - a pull-tab from canned food - a few drops of formalin - dried fruits
to protect/threaten:
- tin soldiers - old bullets - cat nails (naturally shed, obviously. inspect your cat’s scratch post) - dead wasps - insect cocoons - glass bottle caps (you know, these sharp metal ones)
to banish:
- a few drops of sanitizer - absorbent coal - a rejection letter - a one-way ticket (away from your location)
to curse:
- a traffic/parking ticket - bones from cooked fish that you almost choked on - your own tears, brought by sincere rage/misery - flowers from a thrown-away bouquet - the most obnoxious ad/spam mail you’ve ever received - a test paper, marked F and mercilessly corrected by a sadistic teacher Use your senses, your emotions, your own memories and your imagination: what does this item make you feel, what did it possibly make its owner feel? You can add to the list whatever feels right to you. Remember that emotions and memories connected to the item are always a powerful magick fuel, especially in spellwork.Note: some of these things are obviously region-specific. For example, living in a place that once was the war epicentre, it’s a common thing for me to stumble across old rusty bullets while taking a walk in a suburban forest. It may be different for you, but that only means you have certain things which are only unique to your place.

Electric candles. Himalayan salt lamp. And while I would *never* advise anyone to outright break rules especially when their living space has them for a reason it should be acknowledged that I definitely just use tea lights anyway.
I’m going to college next year, and I want to be able to connect with Norse deities while I’m there. I feel like it’ll be the best place to do so, since my parents won’t be around (I mean, I’ll have a roommate, but I’ll deal with that once the time comes).
HOWEVER, most colleges don’t allow you to burn candles. My first choice college will even take the candle away if it has an unused wick in it.
So, how should I lay out offerings and connect with the deities if I can’t burn candles? I know that there are other ways, but I don’t know what they are. Do I NEED a candle?? I’m so confused...
(Also, I have never contacted a deity before. I want to start when I get to college. Just wanted to make that clear)

Witches Reblog If...
• New, young, or considering witches can ask you questions
• Your blog is free of hate and is a safe learning community (this includes bashing christians/non-pagans)
• No questions (as long as they aren’t creepy) will be laughed at or shamed
• It’s okay to ask you for advice or opinions, even if you are an experienced witch.
• Your blog is inviting and welcoming and is a space for education on the craft.
I will follow you, because tumblr needs more of these witches.

If by being in the candle itself doesn't charge the ring, then the nature of burning the candle to get to the ring definitely charges it in my mind.
So...I like to buy candles that have rings in them, so when you burn down enough wax it has a little packet inside with a ring, and I always light those candles with specific intentions. Does that charge/enchant the ring with those intentions as well?
For example: I have a black wax candle with a wooden wick that I use for protection and guiding my ancestors to me (it’s a replacement for a bonfire). Would the ring it came with have the same intentions? I feel like it should
I think if anything it would probably enchant for the most common intention (so like...my white candle is either lit neutrally or for spell work that requires a white candle, so it probably wouldn’t have any inherent intent/enchantment when taking it from the wax, but my bonfire candle could, right?)

Witch Tip! (Kinda)
Collect rainwater and snow in a different container to avoid suspicion. I leave a watering can outside for rain, and for snow I just collect it off of my car before I scrape the excess off the windshield.

I have a dorm ghost! I haven't spoken to them much, but they like to knock my fairy lights down.
haunted dorm life update
i have affectionately been referring to the presence in my room as Steve. based on previous interactions with residents in the dorm, i believe Steve may be young or be a child.
so far, Steve has:
1. made crinkling sounds in my ears while i try to read
2. violently slammed my window shut
3. shook my bed while i was trying to relax on it
i have reason to believe he also knocked my box fan over last night. twice.
i also was in the dormitory restroom, and a shadow went by the stall, but no person.
so far i've made two requests for Steve
1. don't touch the window. it's hot and there's no AC
2. please don't bother me while i sleep. i work nights
anyway, i'll keep you posted on Steve.
