“This here...” They say, looking directly at their notes, “Is Seiya! They’re a vampire! But... they don’t... suck? Um... No! Sorry! They’re going to suck in this competition! Because they’re... going to lose. For sure! Oh.... crap...” They clear their throat. “She’s our Empress. Moving on.”
“Next up we have,” they squint looking at their cards over carefully this time. “Coraline... the literal crow?!” They smile at that, unable to control their enthusiasm at that. “Well aren’t you just a bird of a different feather! I’m sure this crow is ready TO MURDER! Who’s a pretty bird? Hachaha! They’re The Moon!”
“And finally... we have...” They flip through their notes. “Kimmy. Death. And let me tell you folks... her set? Is gonna be a HELL of a good time! A truly... Engelic finale! Hachacha!”
“And uh... with that... we’ll... start the show! Somebody get a close-up on that bird, please! And someone get me some more chairs for the set!”

“This here’s my boy MOSHE! He’s the EMPEROR... but really, he’s just your sad everyday accountant! Hopefully his number crunching will CRUSH our RATINGS! Just like we’ll CRUSH HIS FEELINGS!”
The audience cheers as The Host moves down the line.
“Next up we have poor, innocent Toru-kun. He represents the Lovers! He’s just your average wrestler... if that average wrestler was obsessed with Hello Kitty! MEEEEEEE-OW! ”
“Nananananana.. CAR-LA! Our resident badass! Don’t get on her bad side! She’s the Chariot! And she’s really these weaklings’ only hope to ride to victory!”
“Our fifth contestant is ol’ Celistino... a real wildcard! Let’s just say he shouldn’t COUNT HIS CHICKENS before they hatch! Heya! Hachaha... He’s STRENGTH. But don’t let that fool you... he’s a big ol’ softie!”
“Next up we have Jackson--but his NON-EXISTENT FRIENDS call him JAK! Haha! Don’t be scared by his appearance, though... this punk of a TOWER is in for ride of his life!”
“This here’s Hikaru... our WHEEL OF FORTUNE. And let’s just say the luck in his life? Has taken a turn for the worst! And he’s our resident pretty petty pretty boy!”
“Finally, we have Miko! The haiku master! But I only need NINE syllables to say TEMPERANCE is in for a BAD TIME! Or should I say... BULL TIME? Hachacha!”
The host stops, finally noticing... there are THREE other people on the stage.
“Um... ahaha! Hachacha... Uhhh... this isn’t in the script! This must be... a SPECIAL SEASON! Hachaha! Ummmmm...” They tap on their mic, and into their hand floats a series of notecards.
“Um. Okay!” They mumble, shuffling through their cards. “Um. I can work with this! For sure! Hachacha!”

who are you REALLY? // prologue
“Tonight on our stage we’ve got the best group of contestants we’ve ever had! And I mean REALLY! Ask me how good they are!”
“HOW. GOOD. ARE. THEY????” Says another booming voice, not coming from the audience, but seemingly from The Host’s microphone itself. It sounds like a full crowd of people, hooting and hollering out the words to maximize the ambiance of fun... but the real audience only claps when the Host draws their attention to you.
“SO GOOD that if I don’t bring my A-game tonight, I might be outta a job! THESE FOOLS WRITE THE JOKES THEMSELVES, ISN’T THAT RIGHT?”
The audience laughs as The Host holds the microphone under one of your fellow contestants’ nose.
“Um. Ah. Hehehe. Right?”
“Ahahaha! Isn’t she a keeper? This one’s our FIRST CONTESTANT. Selena de Rosa! THE WORLD. A literal GODFORSAKEN Princess! But don’t make me spell out her issues--she can be a REAL WITCH!”
Selena’s lip wobbles slightly, but the audience only laughs harder, and the Host moves on to the next person.

The voice is booming with enthusiasm and confidence alike, and it seems like they’re talking to every single person in the audience... an audience you now realize is both too big and too important to comprehend in your mere mortal mind. All you can see in the filled stands raised high above the stage from every corner--is glowing eyes. All you can feel is their stare--and the intimidating aura of power and malice that comes with it.
Yes, you know who they are.
But... do you know who YOU are?

prologue \\ good morning folks
You wake up.
Somehow, you don’t feel sleepy at all. You feel ‘good’. The air smells of nothing. Your surroundings are dark, and you can’t see a thing, and yet... there is no confusion.
You know that you’re in the right place. You’re supposed to be here. A higher calling has brought you here, and there is no fight-or-flight response to this darkness; just a patience, or impatience, for what is to come.
There’s a mechanical click and a groan of gears, and the floor starts to shudder beneath you. Then it starts to rise, slowly so as not to startle. Above, panels start to slide apart and a blinding light begins to filter down onto your reclining body.
You notice several other people sitting around you, similarly assured but also evidently new to this situation. Everyone looks at eachother, and then back up at the ceiling.
Your little elevator arrives at the top and reveals a stage. It looks like you’ve arrived on the main set of a TV reality show. But before you can explore, a voice approaches you from behind.

Our due date for applications has now passed. We love all the applications we’ve gotten so far, and we look forward to reading applications from the many people who have asked for extensions. Extensions end this Friday at 11:59 EST, and we plan to announce our roster sometime in the week following.
We’re also proud to announce that we’ve received so many quality applications, we’re increasing the number of applications we plan to accept. The total number is still up in the air---but we’re excited for what’s to come, and you should be, too!

Hello. I'm working on an app and I'm a bit unsure how to mention their level of CHARM, KNOWLEDGE, GUTS, and KINDNESS. I'm not sure what levels are considered appropriate or if I should just include them in a list from highest ranking to lowest. Sorry I just always feel like I need a bit more guidance with this sort of thing, clear limits or guidelines.
Tbh, we want a DESCRIPTION of the character’s charm/knowledge/guts/kindness so we can assign a numerical value for you in the interest of balance and impartial fairness.
For example, if you think your character has LOTS OF GUTS you could say, ‘this character is the bravest person on the planet and not afraid of anything.’ Then we would obviously give you a 4 or a 5, depending on any other flaws they have/if we think it really makes sense for your character to be That Competent.
Which is NOT to say that we won’t let everyone have a five in one of these stats--we just want to make sure they would REALLY HAVE THE FIVE... because these stats really will be important in game... and because it’s more fun (and plot-relevant!) to level up stats in-game.
HOWEVER... if that’s too over-complicated for you, you can just give yourself a numerical value instead. (And we will not penalize you for this at all. We’ve already received a wonderful app that did just that!)
If you do decide to just give yourself a numerical value, there’s not really a rule for how many ‘points’ you’re allowed to spend--it’s just, literally, how charming is your character, how much knowledge does your character have, how brave is your character, and how kind is your character, from 0(neutral) to 5(the best).
Some characters will naturally be more competent than others because that’s how life and experience works--so don’t worry about nerfing or boosting these stats if they seem ‘broken.’ We’ll be the ones to fix/look into that!
