practice forgiving yourself as often as possible. it does wonders once you really learn to move past things you dislike about your past actions that cannot be redone.

Just because your body isn't where you want it to be doesn't mean you shouldn't take care of it

I updated one of my profile pics today with the photo on the right. And I got a flood of likes and compliments from friends telling me how great I look. It felt so great, but there was still a voice in the back of my head that said I hadn’t changed that much. This is a struggle I have all the time. I’m never fishing for compliments, I just genuinely still look in the mirror sometimes and still see the girl on the left.
So I took a second to go back and find the pic on the left (May 2019) to put it next to the most recent one (Oct 2022) to remind myself how far I’ve come. Not only is the girl on the right down almost 60lbs, but she’s learned how to communicate her feelings better and she’s taking control of her mental health. The girl on the right is so much happier than the girl on the left. She still has a ways to go but she’s making progress every day, and that should be celebrated.

So sorry I haven’t been super active lately, life has been insane and it’s about to get crazier!
I went on a much needed vacation, came back to work and immediately got busy again 😅
But I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting on my mental and physical health lately. Exactly a year ago, I was in the worst mental state I’d ever been in. I was depressed, I was working a job I hated, a whirlwind relationship (probably more of a situation-ship) had ended, and I just felt like I had zero direction. I reached out for help and started therapy and my life has changed so much in the last year. I gathered tools to help conquer my mental health issues, I moved out of my parents house, I started a job I really love, and I’ve recently started a new relationship with a man that treats me with kindness and respect. Taking charge of your mental or physical health isn’t easy, it’s a journey and you NEED to be patient with yourself. Progress doesn’t happen overnight, and sometimes it’s gonna feel like you’ve taken 20 steps backward. Even recently I’ve found myself slipping back into old habits or having anxious thoughts about things I have no business worrying about.
Give yourself the grace and patience you give others when they are struggling, and figure out who your biggest supporters are. Your journey is going to take time, but it’s worth the effort it takes to get to your final destination.

Sometimes loving yourself means being honest about what you could do better.
