Waiting For You - Chapter Eight: Puppeteer - Preview!
Content warning - mention of previous character deaths
-
Thorin slumped against the closed gate, as he tried to catch his breath. His hands were shaking at his sides, as he dropped his sword to his feet. He stared in horror at his blood stained hands and the only four members of his company that remain alive. He was failing them all, and the idea of home became a hopeless dream each day more that they witnessed another life end.
Dwalin took up a spot leaning against the gate next to his friend, and hesitantly reached a hand out to lay on his shoulder. The dwarf took a shaky deep breath, as he prepared to speak of the guilt that was eating away at him, “Thorin, I have something I must confess. Something I must get off my chest.”
What more harm could his confession cause to their doomed quest?
“Thorin?”
“Dwalin, go make sure this area is secure.”
“Thorin-”
“There is only so much left we can endure, whatever you have to say, my brother, I am sure it can wait some more.” Thorin rubbed his temples in frustration, he just needed a moment alone to collect himself.
“Okay” Dwalin sighed, as he and the rest of the company headed off towards the small palace that was at the far side of the gated off area that the company was taking sanctuary in.
The moment Thorin was finally alone, he walked towards the fountain that sat in the center of the path. He knelt down by the water to wash the blood off his hands, but froze when he saw his own appearance in the reflection of the water. Disgust washed over him as he stared at the reflection of a dwarf he no longer knew, he broke the haunting image as he finally scrubbed off the blood of his late nephews that stained his hands like a reminder of all the death that his hands have caused. His blank stare into the water was caught off by the sound of heavy footsteps approaching him.
“Dwalin, back so soon? Where is the rest of the company?"
“We came across the palace, and inside we heard a voice that seemed to show no malice. Nothing could prepare us for the power that awaited inside, a power like none that we have faced before.” Dwalin rattled off, as fear shone in his eyes, a look Thorin had only seen in his friend's eyes three other times.
“What did this palace hide?”
“A she-elf.”
“What?”
“She had us in just two words…”
-
“Come inside. Welcome to the best part of your lives, rest wherever you like.” The she-elf, greeted with a voice that was enchanted with persuasion. The voice of persuasion led the remaining members of Thorin’s company besides Dwalin inside the unnerving palace.

Welcome to Durin family game night part 3: the return of uno with four new players.
Bilbo receiving his first draw four from Thorin when he was on uno: I AM GOING TO DIVORCE YOU!
Frodo: Uncle, maybe you should calm down-
Bilbo: No! Thorin has betrayed me and no longer loves me. You have replaced me...
Thorin with fear in his eyes and on the verge of tears: Of course I love you! Please don't divorce me, I'll give you anything you want even the Arkenstone
Frodo sighing: Maybe we shouldn't play this game anymore, uncle. Every time we do you threaten to divorce uncle Thorin and than he cries.
Dis laughing her ass off and using the arguments between Thorin and Bilbo to her advantage to get them both out.
Then it turns out it was a horrible idea to let Fili, Kili, Pippin and Merry all sit together because they join together and slowly take everyone else out one by one. Than when it ends up being two of them being last two standing it becomes into a full on war zone, threats and insults flying everywhere.
Sam when he does play follows the rules mostly, besides he tries his hardest to not give Frodo any draw cards. He is the calmest player out of the bunch, and has to consistently has to try to calm down the arguments.
One time weapons where drawn between Fili, Kili, Merry, Pippin, Dis, and Bilbo about who is the uno champion.
The actual champion is Frodo or Sam because they both mind their own business and follow the rules so they don't come off as targets. This leads to both Bilbo and Dis being the biggest sore losers ever. Bilbo wont bake or cook for anyone for a week, and Dis has been scolding everyone.

Protective
~🗡️Bagginshield🛡️~
All audiences, no warnings apply
"-half a mind to go back down there and wipe the smug little smile right off his pointy face!" The heavy circular door bounced off the wall from the force Bilbo had used to slam it open, but he was so incensed that he didn't even notice when Thorin deftly caught the thick green slab of wood before it could fully swing back and take the Hobbit out. Instead he stomped into the entryway of the under-mountain Hobbit hole, his hands clenched into fists at his side as he went on, "Honestly, I don't know how he has the nerve to call himself a King when he consistently acts so pettily!"
"Bilbo -" Some part of his mind registered that Thorin was speaking, standing calmly on the doormat as he watched his Consort pace. But the forefront of his mind was entirely occupied by the infuriating little wave that the Elven King had given him from across the Throne Room - Bilbo's own husband's Throne Room, no less - and he was struggling to wade through the red mist that had been clouding his vision from the very beginning of the Greenwood Contingent's visit.
"And to think that I was losing sleep, trying to work out the perfect gift to send that prick for his re-coronation celebration!" he growled, the words slurring as he ground his teeth together in frustration.
"Darling, I really think -"
"That pompous eternal ass," Bilbo snorted, once more turning on his heel and beginning his returning march, treading the same path back across the entryway as he seethed. "I mean, he has already been recognised as the King of the Greenwood for centuries. That had never changed, not even when the forests fell into darkness! So why in hell would he need another coronation, that's what I want to -"
Bilbo was stilled by a large, hot hand wrapping around his wrist. There was no force behind the touch, but the feel of the rough skin against his own pulled him up short, and he blinked hard as he looked up to find Thorin's bright blue eyes blazing down at him.
"Peace, Treasure," Thorin rumbled, and suddenly Bilbo was entirely focused on the depth of his lover's voice, the weight of his attention. Some of the tension in his spine released without conscious effort, and he found that he was already leaning in when Thorin's free hand rose to cup his cheek, his thick fingers winding gently into the curls behind Bilbo's pointed ear. The King's beard twitched with barely suppressed amusement as he murmured, "While I must admit that your sudden dislike of that upstart Elf is rather attractive, I must also begrudgingly intervene and encourage you to rethink your ire."
"Rethink my ... He insulted you! Again!" Bilbo cried, more incredulous than anything. After all, he'd spent the last few months trying to convince Thorin that they needed to maintain friendly relations with the Mirkwood contingent, and that old dealings must be forgiven. Unfortunately, he had not accounted for Thranduil's ability to be even more stubborn in holding his grudges than even Bilbo's own beloved Dwarf.
"Yes," Thorin acquiesced, shrugging. "As he has done many times before. And will do many more times in the future, I suspect."
"But ..." Bilbo scrabbled for a coherent argument, but his exhausted mind provided nothing helpful, other than, "But it's immature, and ... And it's just so bloody stupid!"
"I know," Thorin said simply, ducking his head to press his forehead to Bilbo's. The affectionate act forced the last of his anger from him, and Bilbo sighed, sagging as Thorin's arms wound around him, allowing the King to hold him up as his tired legs gave out from under him. Thorin's voice was impossibly soft as he went on, "But despite his stupidity, no matter what that ... What was it you called him again?"
"Pompous eternal ass?" Bilbo provided quietly, embarrassment flaring in his stomach at his own uncouth behaviour, now that he'd started to calm. But Thorin merely chuckled, and rubbed his long nose against Bilbo's.
"Ah, yes, that was it," the King grinned. "No matter what the Pompous Eternal Ass might say to me, knowing that you are always by my side, always ready to defend my honour, is balm enough to soothe any sting to my ego."
Bilbo grunted, not entirely convinced, but when Thorin's lips brushed against the sensitive spot below his ear, all at once he was finding it hard to remember exactly why he'd been so cross in the first place. He managed to hold onto his coherence long enough to insist, "That nickname does not leave this smial."
"As you wish, Treasure," Thorin purred, already walking Bilbo back towards their bedroom, even as he added, "n that case, it looks as though we'll be holding Closed Council meetings in the parlour from now on."

Waiting For You - Chapter Seven: Ruthlessness - Preview!
“Wake up! Thorin! Wake up!” Bilbo shouted before the comforting dream disappeared into a nightmare.
“No!” Thorin shouted as he tried to grasp onto Bilbo before he disappeared from right in front of him. A sudden coldness washed over the dwarf as the imaginary arms no longer held him close keeping him lulled to sleep.
“Thorin Oakenshield, King Under The Mountain. Do you remember who I am?” A voice that Thorin never thought he would hear again rang through his ears waking him up from his blissful dream to see the bag Gandalf had gifted them laying open at the center of the camp as his company in a state of panic were grabbing their weapons with echoing curses of Khuzdul.
The king, still trying to snap out of his sleep trance, stumbled to his feet reaching for Orcrist as his eyes made contact with an orc who was riding a warg and now was only a few feet in front of him. The blood thirsty group was approaching at an alarming speed, as Thorin slowly backed towards the company.
“Who opened the bag?!” Thorin barked, as he prepared to fight, as his eyes stayed locked with the eyes of an orc that should have been dead. He was dead, the filthy creature died at the hands of him and Bilbo. How was he standing before him prepared for another battle?
The members of the company all retorted with panicked ‘not mes’, as a liar was now hiding in plain sight. A betrayer and enemy amongst the company that Thorin trusted with his life but now could not. Luck seemed to be running out, he didn't really know who he could trust anymore. One of the dwarves who helped reclaim their home may become the reason they never see it again. A dwarf that he trusted could lead to him never seeing Bilbo or Frodo again and that very thought lit the fire inside him more.
He was either killing these orcs than killing the betrayer or going to die trying.
-Date to be determined. I want to try to get Chapter Eight: Puppeteer out also so it may come before the 19th!

The Baggins and their messy love lives
Bilbo: Had a thing with a dwarf king who died in his arms after he helped take back his home lands, and was given mithirl that was presented to him like a proposal and Thorin holds it up like a wedding veil.
Frodo: Travels to Mordor with his very platonic friend, looking deeply into each other's eyes, and shows up in white on Sams's wedding day like it was them getting married.

I have finally gotten the motivation to work on the parentshield fic that won the poll that I did awhile ago. I'm probably not going to post it till I have the whole/most of the fic wrote and I finish one of my two current fics WFY or DIAD.
But it's going to be chaotic! It's going to start with Frodo as a faunt and Thorin freaking out and being confused on how he has a son (he isn't listening to Bilbo's explanation about how he had to take Frodo in when his parents died). Thorin and the company also being upset about the fact Frodo was kept from them, and Bilbo saying they had no right when they kept Thorin being alive from him. Lot of misunderstandings, hurt, comfort, and fluff.
Than there will be a time skip later for older Frodo and Thorin thinking nobody is good enough to court his son, and Frodo being rebellious.
Bilbo has to constantly remind Thorin that Frodo is in fact not their son but nephew. Thorin wont hear it though that's his son, and he is going to spoil his hobbit son. Bilbo is just absolutely tired, and done with everything but loves his small family.
