senior year is busy. Last semester, I gave a new face and hair to a previously-known-as-Josefina who needed some love. I want to give her a fun cottagecore wardrobe eventually, but this hand-sewn getup will have to do for now!

Meet Ivy Ling!

Ivy Heun Jin Ling was born on February 28th. She lives in San Francisco, California, with her younger sister Missy, her older brother Andrew, her mother Marilyn, and her father Richard. She likes gymnastics, making art, and visiting her grandparents. When she grows up, Ivy wants to be an Olympic gymnast.

Earlier this week I got the ridiculous urge to find and fix my american girl doll Kirsten. When I found her I found my sister’s dolls too and was hit with nostlagia. So I thought they’d be perfect for the post I had to make for siblings day. (my siblings are social media FANATICS which means I feel like a bad sister if I don’t post on days like these).

Week Six of Spring Has Sprung 2024: Creativity and Innovation!

Daniel, or Danny (son of Tadashi and Fred Hamada) inherited Tadashi's love of robotics, and someday he wants to make robots that help people just like his papa. He enjoys tinkering around in the garage in his spare time, and he's currently working on making a miniature version of Baymax, his papa's most famous creation, based off of old blueprints that he found.

Dawn (daughter of Hera and Kanan Jarrus) also loves robotics, although for her it's more of a hobby--but a hobby with a lot of heart. She wants to be a pilot like her mom when she grows up, but her family also spends time volunteering with Star Wars charity groups like the Rebel Legion and Droid Builders. She's too young to be an official member of either group, but she loves seeing the way her mom's droid, Chopper, makes people smile, so she's been working on her own mini droid, Chopper Jr!

They may not be related by blood (Dawn's adopted older brother Ezra is Danny's uncle by marriage--Dawn was born when Ezra was seventeen) but Danny and Dawn still consider each other family, and Danny always makes time for Dawn when she has questions about robotics or just wants to geek out over some cool new innovation she's discovered!

I brought Claudie with me to see the Spy x Family movie!! There weren't many places to take pics at the theater but I thought this Totoro sign was cute :)

This week's doll project is Millie from the brand A Life of Faith, one of the brands I never thought I'd own, but I recently took a second look and decided I wanted one in my collection.

A Life of Faith is a defunct brand of 18 inch dolls based on the Elsie Dinsmore book series, first published in the 19th century. The dolls were introduced in the late 1990s. They have all-vinyl bodies with bent elbows so their hands can hold a praying position. I'm very impressed with how well strung she is, making the hand position look quite natural, without needing to be up near her face for them to come together. She fits into American Girl clothes pretty easily, although the shoes are hit or miss.

The wig she's wearing is not her original wig; it's one I pulled from my stash may or may not be the wig she ends up wearing permanently. I'll decide that once her new eyes arrive. What you see here are also not her original eyes; those turned red, and the seller replaced them with these purple eyes. I am not a fan of the purple eyes, so she will be getting brown eyes.

Ultimately I'll be renaming her and turning her into a modern character, since I'm not very interested in the books.
