Stupid Jared and his stupid jokes and his stupid ego.
Alex slid down the wall behind the school, knees tucked to her chest and tears in her eyes. This wasn’t the first time her brother made her the butt of the joke, he always made fun of her. That’s what siblings do, right? But he took it too far this time and made a joke out of something she was really insecure about and she couldn’t stop the tears from welling up in her eyes as she quickly retreated from the situation.
“Oh,” Alex snapped her head in the direction of the unfamiliar voice, “I didn’t think anyone would be back here.”
Alex knew who Connor Murphy was-everyone knew who Connor Murphy was-but she’d never talked to him before. He kept to himself more often than not and they didn’t exactly have any mutual friends or shared classes.
“I can leave,” she said, her voice gravely and quiet from the crying. She grabbed her bag from beside her and moved to stand up, already thinking of somewhere else she could hide out until Jared actually got worried for her and spammed her with texts.
“That’s okay,” Connor said quickly, catching Alex a little off guard, “you were here first, I can go somewhere else to-” he waved his unlit cigarette around. Connor didn’t smoke cigarettes a lot, he prefered weed, but for some reason cigarettes were less likely going to get you in trouble if you were caught by a teacher so at school he stuck to just plain cigarettes.
“You can stay if you want,” Alex told him.
He hesitated, not really sure if it was a good idea to hang around with some stranger who, for all he knew, could spread some dumb rumor about him the next day if he said the wrong thing. But in the end he accepted and sat down next to her, leaving some space between them for comfort’s sake. He wanted to ask why she was crying, but figured he was the last person she would want to talk to about that.
Instead he went with, “you’re Jared’s sister, right?”
“Unfortunately,” she responded. Connor had to bite back a laugh.
“He’s kind of an ass.” Connor fiddled with the still unlit cigarette, directing his gaze to the girl beside him.
“That’s an understatement,” Alex mumbled.
“Is that why you were-” he cut himself off, looking back at his hands. He wasn’t going to ask, he wasn’t supposed to ask, why did he ask?
“Crying? Yeah,” she said, nodding slowly. “My brother has a tendency to take things further than he should. Kinda sucks when he also has a tendency to make me the butt of most of his jokes.”
“I know how that feels,” Connor mumbled. “Jared and I don’t really get along.”
“Jared doesn’t get along with most people,” Alex said, “so don’t take it personal or anything.”
Connor nodded, letting silence take over as he and Alex both stared at their feet. It wasn’t necessarily an uncomfortable silence, but he still felt like he should be saying something, like he was supposed to keep the conversation going. But he didn’t know how. Luckily, Alex was able to do that for him.
“Do you always come out here to get away?”
Connor drew his eyebrows together in confusion, but he answered anyway, “yeah, most of the time. Most people don’t really come back here so it’s almost always empty. Gives me a place to think. Why?”
“It’s kinda nice here. Quiet,” she explained.
“Well… you’re always welcome to join me out here.” Alex looked at Connor, a little shocked at his offer, but delighted nonetheless. “If you want to. Or I can find somewhere else to hang around if that’s what you were implying.”
Alex never thought she’d see Connor Murphy so awkward and flustered. He normally kept up this intimidating, tough vibe, but in reality he was just as unsure as most high school kids.
“I think it’d be fun if we hung out here together,” she stated, “it could be our spot.”
“Yeah. Yeah, that’d be… cool.”
Alex’s phone chimed a couple of times, Jared starting to spam her with texts telling her it was time to head home.
“That’s my queue. Thanks for keeping me company Connor,” she said, grabbing her backpack and standing up.
“Anytime,” he responded, still fiddling with the cigarette in his hand. “See you around, Kleinman.”
“See you around, Murphy.”
He watched her leave, not tearing his eyes away until she had rounded the corner and was out of sight. For once he didn’t feel like he was being judged because of the stupid shit he’d done when he lost his temper, and he actually had a really nice time talking, which honestly surprised him a little.
Connor shoved the unlit cigarette into his pocket and stood up, shoving his hands in his pockets as he made his way to the parking lot for his own ride home (assuming Zoe hadn’t already left), and actually found himself looking forward to going to school tomorrow.

I'm sorry I don't mean to be rude and I know you don't go after Ace/aro people but... People who are bi and in a homosexual relationship or are homoromantic/asexual women could see this as casting them away... I know you probably didn't mean to be rude or anything and I totally understand if you think this is rude but it does sort of seem like that...
if youre straight dont reblog lesbian posts. youll never understand lesbian labels or experiences because you arent one. make your own posts

Also sorry for the out of nowhere net neutrality stuff, but we need to get this thing shut down. The FCC CANNOT get away with this. We have until April 23rd until the internet changes in the USA. I don’t care if you don’t live in the USA or not, I live in Australia and I’m just as worried for net neutrality over there as I would be if I actuallt lived there. This is something I and everyone else can ignore or stay silent about

I am not a poc but my friend has two mixed siblings with a black stepmother. The kiddos are too young to experience racism but she has been subject to VERY nasty remarks when she's with her younger brother in public... She absolutely HATES when people do this and has spoken out about it in my very racist/conservative school... Sorry just needed to say that some white ppl ARE subject to racism even if they aren't a poc
my opinions on racism will always be limited as I’m from a position of white privilege, so whilst it’s so important to call out racial inequality and oppression when I see it, it’s also important for me to recognise that my voice should not shout over those who have actually experienced racism and have a far better understanding of how it operates then I ever will

We NEED to get Net Neutrality trending again.
This is enough. Ajit Pai has already succeded MULTIPLE TIMES and you can expect the full removal of net neutrality on APRIL 23RD OF THIS YEAR. We can still contact our senators, we can still fight as hrd as we can, but even though 23 states are suposedly suing for the repeal of this, we need to help it along.
In case people forgot what Net Neutrality is: it is a series of laws that ensure everyone free and fair access to the internet. Without them, you will be charged for the sites you use on top of an already high internet bill. This means creators like us cannot post and be seen. Thia means that smaller schools will havebto switch to out of date text books. This means that starter IT projects that could make our lives better will die because noone can support an online presence that noone can afford to see.
And the list goes on and on and on. I have frienda who have to make their livings through commissions and working online because of multiple health issues. I have friends trying to publish books, post art, post voice acting snippets that will not be seen without these laws.
Please support Net Neutrality and contact your senators!!! This is so important to everyone you know, AND WE JUST NEED ONE SENATOR TO TURN THE TIDE!!!

This post is being ████ by your Internet service provider.
LISTEN UP!!!!!! NET NEUTRALITY ENDS APRIL 23RD
We put up a good fight…but now we only have 60 days to turn this around. There is still ONE thing we can all do!!!!!
There’s something called the Congressional Review Act (CRA) that can be used to stop the FCC. We just need ONE MORE VOTE to win the Senate!!!
For those who missed my last giant post a few months ago, last year, the FCC voted to repeal the Obama regulations designed to protect a fair and open internet. If these regulations are knocked down, providers like Comcast, AT&T, and Verizon will have EVERY RIGHT to slow down internet speeds to those who aren’t on their more expensive plans. Even further, they have the power to censor and regulate what we see online. MORE further, they’d even have the power to slow down competitors’ streaming speeds, like Netflix, to make their own services more appealing. THIS SHIT IS NOT RIGHT!!!!!
First thing you can do is to GET OFF YOUR ASS (OR ON IT IF YOU’RE AT A COMPUTER…) and take 20 seconds to sign this!!!! Second thing is to SHARE THIS CAMPAIGN WITH EVERYONE!!!
SIGN THIS!!!! https://www.battleforthenet.com/onemorevote/
There’s going to be a huge protest on Feb 27th that I’ll be taking part in. The above link goes into detail on what YOU can do on that day. Please guys. Don’t just sit there and let this happen. THIS IS OUR LAST CHANCE! THIS IS OUR INTERNET!!!! NOW FUCKING DO SOMETHING!!!!

Net Neutrality Update - Our Last Chance
So I haven’t seen anything on this subject in quite some time, but I am subscribed to FreePress’ email newsletter where they keep people updated.
Guys, the battle for the net isn’t over yet, just because you don’t see any more posts on it. This text is copy-pasted from the update email I received.
The Net Neutrality repeal is about to become official. The FCC is expected to publish its Net Neutrality rollback in the Federal Register tomorrow, which means that Congress will be able to examine the rules and move forward with a vote to reverse them. This also means that we have a limited amount of time to get all of our elected officials on board to save the open internet — but we have a plan to get there.
Millions of people have spoken out against the FCC’s Net Neutrality repeal because they recognize how important the open internet is for racial justice, free expression, innovation and economic opportunity. The momentum we’ve seen has been grassroots and creative, and gives us hope for the future.
Here’s a recap of what’s happened since the FCC’s vote:
• Legislation that would enforce Net Neutrality has popped up all over the country. • We filed one of the very first lawsuits to overturn the FCC’s Net Neutrality-killing vote and at least 22 state attorneys general are also suing the FCC. • Burger King (yes, that Burger King!) created an ad explaining Net Neutrality. • Team Internet activists have been showing up outside their members of Congress’ offices all over the country to tell them to use the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to undo the FCC’s Net Neutrality repeal. • The pressure people are putting on Congress is working: Members have been signing on to support the CRA effort to save the open internet left and right. We’re just 1 vote away from winning a CRA vote in the Senate — but we have our work cut out for us in the House. • Along with our allies at #BattlefortheNet, we’re gearing up for another internet-wide day of action to save the open internet…
On Feb. 27, we’ll launch Operation #OneMoreVote, a massive day of action to secure the final Senate vote needed to undo the FCC’s Net Neutrality repeal. Will you join us?
On this day, internet users, small businesses, online communities, public-interest groups and popular websites will mobilize to flood lawmakers with calls, emails and tweets. Our goal: to secure the final vote in the Senate needed to pass a resolution of disapproval that would overturn the FCC’s Net Neutrality repeal. We need your help to make this happen: RSVP to join us online on Feb. 27.
There are a ton of ways you can take part in Operation #OneMoreVote, ranging from changing your profile photo, to tweeting and calling your members of Congress and spreading the word. Everything helps.
See you online on Feb. 27th!
