*** spoilers for Thunderbolts ***
How many more things/ people that mean something to Tony do they have left to destroy, honestly? Pepper is out, Gwyneth is probably not coming back to the MCU, so Morgan is also probably out. J.A.R.V.I.S was killed, and Vision too, even though he didn't have the same connection with Tony. Peter has now been forgotten by everyone who loved him. May is dead, so Happy has no reason to be back either. Most of the fandom doesn't know who Harley is, let's be honest. Rhodey was not Rhodey for a long time, and who knows when/if they're going to explain exactly when he was taken.
Stark Industries is up in the air. And now Avengers(Stark) Tower??? I know Ironheart is coming out, but she had no contact with Tony, her having a suit is kind of a call-back, but they made it pretty clear she did it herself. And the last nail in the coffin is going to be RDJ coming back as Doom. Not sure how yet, but they will find a way to shit on Tony Stark one last time.
And the rest of the OG Avengers too. Steve's ending was ... polarizing. Nat is dead. Clint is over, Renner is not coming back since Disney refuses to pay him. Bruce is so up in the air, I have no idea what they're doing with him, so at least I'm in the same boat as Disney execs. And Thor has been "re-invented" so many times he lost any semblance of self.
Someone tell Disney they don't have to shit all over the original characters to make space for new one.
#MCU#Thunderbolts#Tony Stark#Iron Man#Avengers#movie was great first 3/4 with the exception of getting rid of Taskmaster so fast#I'm tired of them dragging Tony's legacy through the mud piece by piece

i can not tell you enough how much i fucking hate that me and everyone else who lives in a country that isn’t america have to actually be concerned with their stupid fucking clown show of a government nonstop because everything they do effects literally everyone else it’s so fucking exhausting to have to be concerned about my own government AND theirs like some fucking kid who just shows up at my house unannounced especially when americans literally never have to give a shit about any other government in the world unless they’re actively at war with that country why does america get to be the fucking protagonist country!!! why do they get to fucking damage everyone else in their crossfire to themself!!!!!

"You're not even American, but you're invested in the American election?" Yeah because a) I give a shit about the people in America who will be affected by the outcome of this election and b) I regret to announce that what happens in america does in fact impact other countries. So it would be nice if the guy in charge of your hellscape of a country was a bloke who, you know. Doesn't want to start nuclear wars, maybe
Anyway for the love of God vote Biden in November.
"My one vote doesn't impact anything" first of all yes it does, second of all that's exactly what tens of thousands of democrat voters said in 2016 and look what fucking happened
"The system is broken" well trump is about to break it even worse. Vote Biden to prevent Trump from destroying democracy entirely.
"But I don't like biden" I do not give a fuck. The other guy is trump. Vote for biden or you'll get trump, it is that goddamn fucking simple.

So You've Finally Switched to Firefox: a Brief Guide to a Some Very Useful Add-Ons.
This post is inspired by two things, the first being the announcement by Google that the long delayed Manifest V3 which will kill robust adblocking will finally roll out in June 2024, and the second, a post written by @sexhaver in response to a question as to what adblockers and extensions they use. It's a very good post with some A+ information, worth checking out.
I love Firefox, I love the degree of customization it offers me as a user. I love how it just works. I love the built in security features like DNS over HTTPS, and I love just how many excellent add-ons are available. It is a better browser than Chrome in every respect, and of the many Chromium based browsers out there, only Vivaldi comes close.
There are probably many people out there who are considering switching over to Firefox but are maybe putting it off because they've got Chrome set up the way they like it with the extensions they want, and doing all that again for Firefox seems like a chore. The Firefox Add-on directory is less expansive than the Chrome Web Store (which in recent years has become overrun with garbage extensions that range from useless to active malware), but there is still a lot of stuff to sift through. That's where this short guide comes in.
I'm presently running 33 add-ons for Firefox and have a number of others installed but disabled. I've used many others. These are my picks, the ones that I consider essential, useful, or in some cases just fun.
Adblocking/Privacy/Security:
uBlock Origin: The single best adblocker available. If you're a power user there are custom lists and scripts you can find to augment it.
Privacy Badger: Not strictly necessary if you're also running uBlock, but it does catch a few trackers uBlock doesn't and replaces potentially useful trackers like comment boxes with click-to-activate placeholders.
Decentraleyes: A supplementary tool meant to run alongside uBlock, prevents certain sites from breaking when tracker requests are denied by serving local bundled files as replacement.
NoScript: The nuclear option for blocking trackers, ads, and even individual elements. Operates from a "trust no one" standpoint, you will need to manually enable elements yourself. Not recommended for casual users, but a fantastic tool for the power user.
Webmail Ad Blocker: The first of many webmail related add-ons from Jason Saward I will be recommending. Removes all advertising from webmail services like Gmail or Yahoo Mail.
Popup Blocker (Strict): Strictly blocks ALL pop up/new tab/new window requests from all website by default unless you manually allow it.
SponsorBlock: Not a fan of listening to your favourite YouTuber read advertisements for shitty products like Raycons or BetterHelp? This skips them automatically.
AdNauseam: I don't use this one but some people prefer it. Rather than straight up blocking ads and trackers, it obfuscates data by injecting noise into the tracker surveillance infrastructure. It clicks EVERY ad, making your data profile incomprehensible.
User-Agent Switcher: Allows you to spoof websites attempting to gather information by altering your browser profile. Want to browse mobile sites on desktop? This allows you to do it.
Bitwarden: Bitwarden has been my choice of password manager since LastPass sold out and made their free tier useless. If you're not using a password manager, why not? All of my passwords look like this: $NHhaduC*q3VhuhD&scICLKjvM4rZK5^c7ID%q5HVJ3@gny I don't know a single one of them and I use a passphrase as a master password supplemented by two-factor-authentication. Everything is filled in automatically. It is the only way to live.
Proton Pass: An open source free password manager from the creators of Proton Mail. I've been considering moving over to it from Bitwarden myself.
Webmail/Google Drive:
Checker Plus for Gmail: Provides desktop notifications for Gmail accounts, supports managing multiple accounts, allows you to check your mail, read, mark as read or delete e-mails at a glance in a pop-up window. An absolutely fabulous add-on from Jason Saward.
Checker Plus for Google Drive: Does for your Google Drive what Checker Plus for Gmail does for your Gmail.
Checker Plus for Google Calendar: The same as the above two only this time for your Google Calendar.
Firefox Relay: An add-on that allows you to generate aliases that forward to your real e-mail address.
Accessibility:
Dark Reader: Gives every page on the internet a customizable Dark Mode for easier reading and eye protection.
Read Aloud: A text to speech add-on that reads pages with the press of a button.
Zoom Page WE: Provides the ability to zoom in on pages in multiple ways: text zoom, full page zoom, auto-fit etc.
Mobile Dyslexic: Not one I use, but I know people who swear by it. Replaces all fonts with a dyslexia friendly type face.
Utility:
ClearURLs: Automatically removes tracking data from URLs.
History Cleaner: Automatically deletes browser history older than a set number of days.
Feedbro RSS Feed Reader: A full standalone reader in your browser, take control of your feed and start using RSS feeds again.
Video Download Helper: A great tool for downloading video files from websites.
Snap Link Plus: Fan of Wikipedia binge holes? Snap Link allows the user to drag select multiple hyperlinks and open all of them in new tabs.
Copy PlainText: Copy any text without formatting.
EPUBReader: Read .epub files from within a browser window.
Tab Stash: A no mess, no fuss way to organize groups of tabs as bookmarks. I use it as a temporary bookmark tool, saving sessions or groups of tabs into "to read" folders.
Tampermonkey/Violentmonkey: Managers for installing and running custom user scripts. Find user scripts on OpenUserJS or Greasy Fork, there's an entire galaxy out there of ingenious and weird custom user scripts out there, go discover it.
Browsing & Searching:
Speed Dial 2: A new tab add-on that gives you easy access to your favourite sites.
Unpaywall: Whenever you come across a scholarly article behind a paywall, this add-on will search through all the free databases for an accessible and non-paywalled version of the text.
Web Archives: Come across a dead page? This add-on gives you a quick way to search for cached versions of the page on the Wayback Machine, Google Cache, Archive.is and others.
Bypass Paywalls: Automatically bypasses the paywalls of major websites like those for the New York Times, New Yorker, the Financial Times, Wired, etc.
Simple Translate: Simple one-click translation of web pages powered by Google Translate.
Search by Image: Reverse search any image via several different search engines: Google Image, TinEye, Yandex, Bing, etc.
Website Specific:
PocketTube: Do you subscribe to too many YouTube channels? Would you like a way to organize them? This is your answer.
Enhancer for Youtube: Provides a suite of options that make using YouTube more pleasant: volume boost, theatre mode, forced quality settings, playback speed and mouse wheel volume control.
Augmented Steam: Improves the experience of using Steam in a browser, see price histories of games, take notes on your wishlist, make wish listed games and new DLC for games you own appear more visible, etc.
Return YouTube Dislikes: Does exactly what it says on the package.
BlueBlocker: Hate seeing the absolute dimmest individuals on the planet have their replies catapulted to the top of the feed because they're desperate to suck off daddy Elon sloppy style? This is for you, it automatically blocks all Blue Checks on Twitter. I've used it to block a cumulative 34,000 Blue Checks.
Batchcamp: Allows for batch downloading on Bandcamp.
XKit Rewritten: If you're on Tumblr and you're not using whichever version of XKit is currently available, I honestly don't know what to say to you. This newest version isn't as fully featured as the old XKit of the golden age, but it's been rewritten from the ground up for speed and utility.
Social Fixer for Facebook: I once accidentally visited Facebook without this add-on enabled and was immediately greeted by the worst mind annihilating content slop I had ever had the misfortune to come across. Videos titled "he wanted her to get lip fillers and she said no so he had bees sting her lips" and AI photos of broccoli Jesus with 6000 comments all saying "wow". Once I turned it on it was just stuff my dad had posted and updates from the Radio War Nerd group.
BetterTTV: Makes Twitch slightly more bearable.
Well I think that's everything. You don't have to install everything here, or even half of it, but there you go, it's a start.

Dick had fucked up. Dick had fucked up big time.
“Robin?” Dick tried, creeping through the gloom of the abandoned warehouse. Machinery loomed out of the darkness like dusty jumpscares and there was a chilling, crawling feeling up the back of his neck. “Robin, are you there?”
No sound. Not even a whisper. Demons were always very good at blending into the shadows.
“Robin, come back,” Dick called out into the darkness.
The crippling sensation of abandonment was his only answer.
Really, this whole thing was Bruce’s fault. Not only had he replaced Dick, he’d replaced him with a demon. A baby incubus that Dick was supposed to call brother. Dick was justifiably wary of humanity’s greatest predators, never mind that his little brother had chubby little cheeks and an adorable scowl and a pout that Dick had to resist cooing at. He was dangerous.
And doubly so under the influence of mind tampering chemicals.
Incubi under fear toxin could induce a heart attack with a touch, overloading people’s minds with fear until they died. Dick had never met an incubus under the use of cuddle pollen, since Ivy mainly reserved that for the Bats, but he shuddered to think of what an emotion-sensitive demon would do when faced with the draining hunger for succor.
Luckily, Dick had met enough villains with mental manipulation to develop strong mental shields. They’d snapped into place the moment he’d felt Robin’s clumsy grab for his mind, protecting him from mental intrusion. He could’ve gotten Robin back to the Batcave and in a containment cell with no one—especially Bruce—the wiser.
Instead, Robin had bolted the moment Dick had cut him free of Ivy’s vines and Dick had no idea how to find him. It was becoming increasingly likely that he’d have to call Bruce from his shift on the Watchtower and deal with the Disappointed Look that still made Dick cringe.
He could already hear Bruce now. I asked you to watch over Gotham for one night, but I see that was beyond your capabilities. The sneer was clearly visible in Dick’s mind. I should’ve never called you back—you’re useless, pathetic, weak—
Dick froze. “Robin?” he called out, barely a whisper. The dread and terror hanging over his head weren’t his own. The fear of being kicked out wasn’t his. “Robin, are you there?”
The feeling of dread intensified. Lurking behind it was hurt, a miasma that seemed to grow with every breath. Pain and fear and abandonment and loneliness, all of it battling together in a spiral that tightened around Dick’s chest and sunk deep.
“Robin?” Dick called out again. It was an old-fashioned game of hot-and-cold. The thicker the emotions were, the closer he was getting. Dick kept the mental block and slipped further into the warehouse.
The darkness seemed especially concentrated in the shadows behind an old conveyor belt. Dick rounded the edge and headed for the corners, feeling the ache as the emotions pressed against his barrier.
He caught sight of the cape as the emotions solidified into specifics.
hates me hates me can’t stand the sight of me no one can they all hate me
I don’t want to be a demon I don’t want to be alone I just want to be loved why is it so hard why why
please please please please please please please it hurts please it hurts make it stop please please it hurts make it stop I can’t breathe please please please
I’m so hungry
it’s so cold
please help help please it hurts please please please please
“Oh, kid,” Dick breathed, crouching as he crept closer. Robin was huddled into a tiny ball, cape tucked around him, shuddering violently. “It’s okay. It’s going to be okay. C’mere.”
Robin didn’t move, but he didn’t jerk away at Dick’s careful touch at his shoulder, and Dick moved to envelop him in a hug. He used slow, cautious movements and only relaxed when the kid was tucked up in his lap.
Robin was still rigid, not bending the slightest amount, breaths harsh and shaky. Before Dick could figure out a more comfortable position for them both, something poked at his mental barrier.
Dick mentally reared back, reinforcing the block. But it wasn’t an attack, it was…questing? It slunk forward again, a wary little thread reaching out. For an instant, Dick felt hurt please help big brother please?
Then the thread curled away, sagging at a lack of response, and the feeling of abandonment surged.
It was a stupid idea. Dick was just compounding the bad decisions that had led them to this point. He could already imagine Bruce’s lecture—did you seriously allow a demon access to your mind because you felt sorry for it—but he’d already made the decision.
Dick dropped the mental barrier.
It felt like cracking open a door he was trying to hold shut, warring with his own instincts as he deliberately lowered his guard. The thread came back and, upon finding an open path, slithered inside. Dick resisted the urge to kick it back out.
Dickie? came an inquisitive thought—it didn’t feel like a word mentally spoken, it felt like an impression, and when Dick reached out it, it was accompanied by a dazzling network of memories and emotions. He was looking at himself from the outside, from the point of view of a little boy that wanted nothing more than his approval, that had placed Dick on a pedestal so high Dick was getting dizzy just experiencing it.
Jaybird, Dick tried crafting his own impression in response, shoving the resentment and irritation as far down as he could in the hopes that Jason couldn’t find it. He bundled up all his hopes and wishes for a baby brother and flung it across the mental space.
One moment Jason was on the outside, peering in, asking for entry—and the next he was in, tangled up thoroughly with Dick’s emotions, rifling through his head like it was a flipbook. Confusion and panic and fear flitted across Dick’s mind, slow like molasses, and were easily batted aside. Comfort rose out of the tangle, and contentment, the lazy purr of a cat slumbering in a sunspot.
It felt good. Dick was…Dick was supposed to be doing something. They were in a warehouse. They…they had to get home? But the warehouse was empty and everything was quiet here.

The Iranian Regime is going to execute rapper Toomaj Salehi for supporting protests of Jina Amini’s murder by the regime in his songs.
Iranian activist Elica Le Bon says, “Iranians in the diaspora picked up on the fact that the regime tends not to execute people who become known to the international community. We have seen many examples of prisoners that were either released on bail or had their sentences commuted through our “say their names to save their lives” campaign on social media, using hashtags to garner attention for their causes, and even before social media existed, through getting the stories of political prisoners to international media outlets. Once reported on, and once the eyes shift to the regime and the reality of its pending brutality, realizing that the action is not worth the repercussions, we have seen them back down and not execute. For that reason, this is part of an urgent campaign for readers to talk about Toomaj as much as you can, using the hashtag #FreeToomaj or #ToomajSalehi. Every comment makes a difference, and if we were wrong, what did we lose by trying?”

Nothing gives the same kind of random ego boost like managing to finally clean up your home and making it nice. Like ooh look at me, I'm living like people do, I made myself iced tea and I am eating my snack from a real plate. I got floors and shit.

People often say things like how “you did your best today, and that’s okay.” And that’s often true, and your best does vary day to day but I just want to take a moment and give a shout out to those who didn’t do their best today. Sometimes we know we could have done more or done better. And it’s okay if we didn’t do our best. You are still worthy. You are not a failure. You are allowed to try again tomorrow.

I don’t know if I’ve just been lucky in the comics I’ve been reading over the last week or if I’m better at seeking out the good stuff than I thought I’d be, but over and over I have hit on comics that have shown, yes, Bruce Wayne is a complicated father to all of his kids, there’s a lot of genuine hurt and grief in all of his relationships, but he also is working really hard to be better, to let his kids be who they are (rather than who he thinks they should be) because he knows the long shadow he casts is something they feel every day of their lives. He tells Damian that he just wants him to be the best Damian he can be, because that’s what Damian needs to hear from him, because Bruce is complicated and has his own traumas that he’s still working through after all these years, but he loves his kids and for them he keeps trying to do better. He’ll never be perfect, this will probably never be truly natural to him, but he’s trying to give his kids what they need, he’ll never give up on any of them, no matter how much he and Damian may not always understand each other, that doesn’t mean they don’t love each other. Anyway, this is why I’ll die on the “Bruce Wayne is a good dad” hill, not because he never does anything wrong, but because he keeps working to do better for Damian, for Dick, for Jason, for Tim, for Cass, for all of them. Because, when Damian needs to hear it, Bruce tells him that he wants Damian to be the best Damian Wayne he can be, that he has no intention of writing this kid off, no matter how tough it gets between them.

Do you want a guide to writing a research paper but you don't want to scroll a mile on your dash? This post is for you, buddy.
This book (book????) or tidily-laid-out-shitpost or whatever you want to call it is a handy-dandy guide to college-level humanities research methods and paper-writing.
This is a step-by-step follow along of my process as I, a person with a BA in English Lit, navigate writing a paper on George Orwell for my English 101 class.
This is NOT carefully crafted, it is literally a post that I made.
That said, it is a post that I made that is twelve thousand words on how to write a paper and now comes with a table of contents and headers and fancy alt-text and image descriptions and is forty fucking pages.
This document includes:
How to read an academic paper
How to skim a book for a college class
How to prioritize what sources to use
How to write an organized, cohesive research paper with an introduction, support paragraphs, and conclusion
(i managed to only say "fuck" six times in forty pages so I'm not taking them out.)
ANYWAY for a PDF click here.
If you want it in .docx click here.
Free to use for any reason, free to reproduce, give them to whoever, just don't sell them. (if you want to credit me if you do share them, ms-demeanor.tumblr.com is perfectly fine)
Happy finals season, babes. Good luck with those papers.
