finally put together a reference sheet for aoife! i'd been meaning to do something like this with a different glam for ages but wasn't satisfied with the pics i'd taken...

feels good to finally have sth i can give people if asked for reference (instead of 4-5 screencaps from my stash lmao). this was a lot of fun to put together!

seriously, I have no complaints with how he looks - in a bunch of the cuts he was indistinguishable from his usual self. I cant wait to see how his pvp hair will look when Dawntrail hits!

one positive about the benchmark: i did finally get to make Edison's ex wife!!! her name is Nikola Teszlovna and she is usually friendly and gung-ho but she will throw wrenches at Edison on sight

my favorite detail about her is the flower spots that I made by accident; I wasn't sure i was going to give her a fur pattern but then I saw how the spots looked in red and was like oh no im keeping these. i think in-lore she dyes them that way using a contraption of her own making.

meanwhile, banri did not survive the face 3 bunboy extinction 😔

there are some things that can probably be fixed by fantaing (like making his eye tattoos black instead of brown to mesh with his eyelashes again) but the light eyebrows and the fact that he has rava eyes and not veena ones is........ off-putting to say the least ;-; really hoping this was just an oversight and it'll be better by dawntrail.........

i picked face 3 for him bc the eyes & tattoos were so pretty, it would be a huge disappointment if i cant get him looking closer to how he was before ;-;

hello from the benchmark! I've only loaded aoife and banri so far, but I wanted to take some comparison shots just to see. overall im really happy with how she looks, especially with how the game now treats darker skin. i was so worried she'd look off, and while the new look will take some getting used to (and there are still details i hope will get fixed by release...) im no longer worried about what dawntrail holds for my main wol!

the one nitpick that i may fanta for is that in the la noscea lighting environment, it's now really obvious that her actual eye color is light yellow. I'd picked it because in the old engine it looked like a luminous, warm grey, and i've been drawing her with grey eyes all these years... she looked fine in the benchmark cutscenes though so maybe it's just in this one specific instance. we'll see!

Court Mage

Finally took some proper pics of this look! Ended up reusing a bunch of pieces from Aoife's version of this glam for lack of other ideas, but if it aint broke don't fix it? honestly what CAN'T artisans' chausses do

(also wild that the aoife version post is so old I hadn't yet figured out what kind of blog I wanted this to be yet fkjhgj....)

Rosfield (Heavy Armor ver.)

The heavy armor version focuses on pieces that accentuate the existing red, black, and silver color scheme. I also found myself actually wanting to use the pants when I realized the shoes could be turned into heels!

Rosfield (Light Armor ver)

Took a bit to decide what to wear with Clive's top (the pants i'd originally wanted to use were too short in the waist ;-; ). I ended up liking both the fending and maiming glams I made though, so I decided to just use both!

The light armor version focuses on the x-shaped ties on the top and echoes them in the pants and gloves. Was pleasantly surprised that dyeing the pants soot black made them a good match for the metal on the arm piece, too!

idk if i will ultimately use all the pieces quite yet, but the piece i was most disappointed in initially (the pants with built in sabatons, ugh square stop doing that) ended up being the one i most want to use for glam? go figure

i'm actually really glad a friend recommended I catch up to a certain sequence in XVI before doing the collab, since I'd left off within an hour or two of getting there lmao...... it was definitely worth it!

i'm happy i got to experience it in its natural habitat before seeing the xiv recreation, but it was also fun to imagine Aoife being there to help Clive through it :3c
