Happy new year! 

My 3AM brain made this.

Still for levihan this 2023 <3

“3AM thoughts aren’t real, right?” Hange was barely heard with the wind blowing on their ears. 

Levi focused his sight on the flickering city lights they were from roughly two hours ago. Hange nudge their elbow to his, encouraging him to answer, or maybe, checking if he’s real. He sighed as he tried to sort out the opened tabs in his mind for a response. “That’s good then…” he started. 

“Hm?” They answered softly, far from the usual enthusiasm of pulling out his brain cells to form answers that they often find joy contesting or ‘debunking.’

“I guess.” Levi said vaguely in defense. The person he’s with never knows when to stop and he’s not really in the best shape to counter whatever they will say. 

Hange nodded slowly beside him. “Yeah.”

After a while, he saw them smile silly. The wind was still chilly and he wanted to ask Hange if they could go inside to the car and drive back to the city that can mute the excessive beating of their hearts. 

“Then Levi, my thought of going to a viewing deck at 3AM shouldn’t be real, right?”

“Yes.”

“Why are we here then?” They chuckled, crossing their arms and still looking at the lights and sky forming a dance before their eyes.

He scoffed sarcastically. “Because you’re unrealistically crazy.”

Instead of howling at his very dry humor, they just allowed him to hear another small laugh. He stood closer and Hange took a step away from his grasp. Levi lowered his ready arm behind their back. Frowning, he placed both hands on the railing of the viewing deck. 

Levi rolled his eyes. “Yeah. Why are we here in the first place?” 

“You drove us here, stupid.” Hange replied. 

They took a step nearer to Levi and he let them adjust however they wanted his presence. He felt their every move, leaves and rocks cracking under their shoes as they lay their back against his back. They took their time inhaling and exhaling air out of their lungs while their head was directly cushioned by the back of his head. Levi silently observed, like he usually does. 

And he felt their hands traveling from his shoulders to his arms so he caught them in his own hands. Playing along with who will be on top of whose hands till they straighten their arms to each side, not letting go, interlocking fingers to secure it further.

Hange squeezed his right hand. “So, do you believe in the notion that 3AM thoughts are not real?”

Levi thumbed the back of their left hand. “It depends. Do you?”

“Hmm… What if…”

“What if?”

“What if I say that I love you right now, will you take it as real or not?

“Will take it as bullshit, Hange.”

Levi was about to unclasp his hands when Hange held them tight. “Stay,” they whispered.

Bumping his head lightly to theirs. “Four Eyes , I can’t feel my back anymore. I prefer seeing you too. Say it again.”
