One of two box dioramas I completed this weekend. I've always liked some of the more abstract and stylized illustrations that adorned album covers of the 50s, especially those designed by S. Neil Fujita and Jim Flora. This whole scene was based around the idea that the abstract figures seen on those album covers were actually photographs.
Everything is scratchbuilt, including the Ampex 300 and 350 tape machines. If there's too much excitement going on in your life then punching all of those tiny holes in in the soundproofing tiles is actually a pretty great cure for that. The band was made from styrene that I cut into shape and glued together.

I've finally figured out how to set up interior shots for my noir photos. It took a bit of work to build all the scenery, but now I'm ready to have fun with this.

I feel like I was going for something a bit more abstract or surreal with this shot. I wanted something you might see and a golden age era pulp novel cover.

Noir always was about playing around with light and shadows for me. When I take photos like this I'm always trying to evoke a certain mood or feeling than to imitate anything I saw in a movie. It's about letting light and shadows tell a story.

I can't say I like spiders, but I do enjoy taking sci-fi/horror photos with them.

Bruce Lee vs Sam Sung.
This is the first photo I’ve taken using a figure that I’ve sculpted. Overall I’m pretty happy with how he turned out.
