I want to talk about grammar on AAC.
Using proper grammar can make it a lot easier for people to understand what you mean, but sometimes, it can be difficult for us to use proper grammar when using AAC. The limited space and time on our devices can make it challenging to construct grammatically correct sentences. And let's be real, typing out every single word and punctuation mark can be time-consuming and exhausting.
I understand that grammar is important. However, I wish that people would recognize that difficulty with grammar doesn't diminish the value or the validity of AAC user's (or anyones) thoughts and opinions.
I personally don't tend to struggle with it, and I've always been skilled in both reading and writing. This gives me privilege, because when I share my experiences and thoughts as a nonspeaking autistic with high support needs, people listen. I've noticed that when its other people like me, but they struggle with grammar, the post gets so few notes and nobody listens.
This isn't okay.
I have learned so much from people that type in more simple or ungrammatical ways, and I guarantee you could too.
Stop skipping over AAC user's who don't have perfect grammar.

I have a quick question.
What is the deal with gender and body image?
It sucks and it frightens me to see what I'm in.

Republicans and other transphobes are heartless monsters.
To force this mother to not only relive the trauma of losing her son, but to then essentially spit in her face by telling her that her dead son doesn't matter and they want every other trans person to suffer like he did and openly destroy his life's work (he was an activist that campaigned against these exact bills) is beyond words.
But they're the party of family values and parental rights, huh?

I desperately need help to buy groceries for April!!
**URGENT: PLEASE READ/SIGNAL BOOST**
Sunday, April 2nd: Hello everyone, I’m Gemma, a bi, mentally ill, and disabled woman in desperate need of help, as I've only just managed to pay off my overdue rent, but it has now left me with next-to-nothing to buy groceries.
As most of you are already aware from my previous posts, I have been struggling financially these past few years due to Covid-19 and my welfare benefit (Universal Credit) being under continuous reviews, which is due to my worsening mental/physical health and the UK’s controversial changes to how benefits are assessed and assigned. After a lengthy health assessment, I have been declared not to be fit for work, however, I am still waiting for the outcome of my ADP application for Disability, which is taking a while to be processed.
I know this is a difficult time for everyone, and I'm so sorry to be asking for help again, but I still desperately need some as I don't have any money to buy food or toiletries for this month after paying my rent, council tax and bills.
If anyone could spare any amount to help me, even if it’s just £1/$1/€1, it would save my life, and sharing definitely helps just as much. Thank you so much for all your help!! ❤
£0/£150!!

If it's true that transition inherently carries the risk for detransitioning people who regret transition, the solution isn't to ban transition.
The solutions that would help trans people and detrans people would be:
1. Not tying transness or somebody's gender/sexuality to their transition status
2. Not pressuring people to transition to "prove themselves" or to "go all the way" if they were really dedicated to being their gender
3. Reaffirming that you don't have to be "right," just happy
4. Not ridiculing people who regret transition, making them feel stupid, worthless, or that they can't "really" be their gender because they have transitioned in the past
5. Recognizing that detransition ≠ being cisgender, or otherwise not being trans
6. Educating people about the effects of transition in an accurate, compassionate manner and - equally important - letting them decide if that part of transition care is right for them.

What's missing from the "regret rate" number is the reason people regret it. It overwhelmingly usually due to aesthetic reasons or social pressure.
It's extremely rare that a person gets some form of gender affirming surgery and then later realizes they are not transgender and fully detrans (and these people deserve all of our love and support, if anyone knows what it's like to live in the wrong gender it's us). It's even rarer that one of these detrans people go on to join a reactionary movement to try to eliminate trans people, yet they get amplified more than anyone else in society. That 1% of a 1% of a 1%? That's who is being listened to.
I really need cis people to understand how difficult it is to get gender affirming surgery in this country. It takes literal years to even be considered for it.
Cards on the table, I'm in the process right now for getting bottom surgery. I have been hormones for over 2 years. The minimum requirement is 1 year, but that rarely happens. I've had to be evaluated by two different psychiatrists and I'll need to see them again to get a letter saying they cleared me (and they're only good for 1 calendar year). On top of that, I contacted a surgeon for my first initial consultation, but isn't scheduled until October. And that's just the first visit! It takes months after that to even schedule the surgery.
You don't really go through that whole process unless you are extremely sure.
No one, especially not a child, is walking into a gender clinic and walks out same day with hormones, a hysterectomy, a membership card.
But I'll meet this Republican congressman halfway through. You can ban transition related surgery for people under 26 is you ban any and all surgery or medical care that can permanently alter someone in any way. No heart surgery. No life saving amputations. No chemo. (I would say no vaccines, but this is a MAGA Republican we're talking about). Did you know Tylenol if taken too long can cause stomach bleeding and damage you long term? So no Tylenol.
But why stop there? Shoes can give you long lasting foot or back issues, so that's gotta be banned, too. Sunscreen? You're applying a chemical your child so they'll """be healthier"""?? Yeah, right, groomer.
Ugh. I'm just so tired.

Snuggle up in this cozy apartment in catalhuyuk, circa 7000 BC.
Catalhuyuk was a prehistoric city located in what is now Turkey. At it's height around 7000 BC it had a population between 5000 and 7000. The image above is a recreation of a common dwelling.
