For good? No, I couldn't leave Tumblr even if I wanted to. I'm stuck here until the site shuts down. 🤣 This blog, though? Well, jury's still out on that one.

I'm glad that my writing could help you in that way. I always hope that my art can resonate with others, and I'm really glad it resonated with someone who needed that pick-me-up. 🫂

I have, unfortunately, been too tangled up in the usual web of adult obligations to make the art I want to make. Which is frustrating for a lot of reasons, but especially because my writing has drastically improved over the years. I have stories that I'd really like to tell, but nowhere near enough bandwidth to give them the light of day. You know how it is, though. I've got to keep the lights on and food on the table, even at the cost of neglecting my passions. Such is life in our capitalist society.

Things have been hectic, and I feel like I start more projects than I finish. I also would really like to be able to give more attention to personal projects and original creations than to fan art and fan fiction, not because I don't enjoy making fan art, but because I would really like it if someday my original creations were on the same level as the games and shows I make fan art of. Hopefully that makes sense?

So, I am still around. I'm on ArtFight, and I'll be participating this year. I'm also on AO3. 🙂 If I do return to this blog, I think I would need to majorly redo the tagging system, because it's messy and hard to find stuff. Not that Tumblr's search function makes it easy to find posts in the first place, but inconsistent tagging doesn't help. If I ever find myself in a place where I can finally work on the things I've been dying to work on, I will more than likely announce it here at some point. After that, maybe I'll start the fan fiction engine back up again.

Oh, and when the OFF remake(? It's a remake, right?) is finally out, maybe I'll live blog it here, too. 😄

There's an EU initiative going on right now that essentially boils down to wanting to force videogame publishers with paid games and/or games with paid elements such as DLC, expansions and microtransactions to leave said games in a playable state after they end support, or in simpler terms, make them stop killing games.

A "playable state" would be something like an offline mode for previously always online titles, or the ability for people to host their own servers where reasonably possible just to name some examples.

I don't think I need to tell anyone that having something you paid for being taken from you is bad, which is a thing that routinely happens with live service and other always online games with a notable recent example being The Crew which is now permanently unplayable.

Any EU citizen is eligible to sign the initiative, but only once and if you mess up that's it. You can find it here. (https://citizens-initiative.europa.eu/initiatives/details/2024/000007_en)

Even if you're not European or you signed it already, you can share this initiative with anyone who is, even if they don't care about videogames specifically because this needs a million signatures and there is different thresholds that need to be met for each EU country for their votes to even count and could also be a precedent for other similar practices like when Sony removed a bunch of Discovery TV content people paid for.

to those of you who are moving here from tiktok, from someone whos used both tiktok and tumbr for years...

1. DO NOT censor your posts

dont censor sex, abuse, suicide, dont censor it. we dont have censors like tiktok does, you wont be banned for talking about these things and tagging them properly helps people avoid them (also, we dont have shadowbanning here)

2. we dont really have an algorithm

you follow who you follow, and you see posts from who you follow or what you search. the 'for you page' is basically useless here. this also brings me to my next two points

3. dont crosstag

we get it, on tiktok you have to crosstag for reach, but thats not really a thing here. just tag your posts properly (also posters often leave more info about the post in the tags!! and when you reblog stuff you can leave your own notes in the tags, kind of like the old "repost comments" on tiktok)

4. dont expect to go viral/be famous

"viral" isnt really a thing on here (at least not for the average blogger). your posts will probably get 2-10 likes and you wont get nearly as many followers than on tiktok. thats just how tumblr is

5. blocking is your best friend

tiktok is VERY discussion based, and while tumblr is much more discussion based than other social medias, its still not a good place for ragebait/discourse. dont interact, itll make your experience worse in the end, just block and move on

6. you cant go into someone elses house and start rearranging their furniture

this is tumblr, not tiktok. dont diss old tumblr users for how they use the site or try to change them, thats like going into someone elses house and trying to rearrange their furniture. we've been here longer and we're familiar with the site and its culture, either find your niche, adapt, or find a different app

I'm an enjoyer of Mouthwashing rp/ask blogs, and a while ago, some anonymous person was assigning various blogs tarot cards that they thought represented the characters. I'm not sure whether they were basing their card choices on the specific blog's depiction or on the characters in general, but they chose Death for Jimmy, and like. I get it, but I feel like The Tower is a way more fitting choice, you know?

16. THE TOWER.-- Misery, distress, indigence, adversity, calamity, disgrace, deception, ruin. It is a card in particular of unforeseen catastrophe. Reversed: Negligence, absence, distribution, carelessness, distraction, apathy, nullity, vanity.

It works upright and reversed, too. Granted, I did just pull that from the Wikipedia page, so it's not like I'm doing some lengthy analysis or anything, but my understanding of the Death card is that it represents a transitory period and not often literal death. Although I am reading that it can represent "stagnation or an inability to move or change" when drawn reversed, that's applicable to Jimmy in some ways.

Anyway, I guess while I'm here, I should do the rest of the characters, huh? All the rest of the quotes are gonna be from Wikipedia, too, by the way.

Curly - Knight of Cups

i think the near-extinction of people making fun, deep and/or unique interactive text-based browser games, projects and stories is catastrophic to the internet. i'm talking pre-itch.io era, nothing against it.

there are a lot of fun ones listed here and here but for the most part, they were made years ago and are now a dying breed. i get why. there's no money in it. factoring in the cost of web hosting and servers, it probably costs money. it's just sad that it's a dying art form.

if you're ever thinking about making a niche project that only a select number of individuals will be nerdy enough to enjoy, keep in mind i've been playing some of these games off and on for 20~ years (Alter Ego, for example). quite literally a lifetime of replayability.

wait do people read first person stories and think they're the ones in the story???

Saw people talking about not liking first person, which is fair, but their reasoning was like "I would not do that" and I don't understand that mindset.

First person stories are still about a character. A character making their own decisions. First person isn't about you???? At least I thought it wasn't. What am I missing? I've always seen first person as just a more in-depth look into a character's mind and stricter POV. Not as a reader stand-in.

Hey, so, I know this is a big ask, but I'm worried about my neighbors' cat. They let it out all the time, but it seems like they often forget to let it back inside. On more than one occasion, I've heard it crying to be let back inside and fighting with other cats or animals in the street. There's also a railroad nearby, which is super concerning. Recently, I saw it up on the neighbors' roof, presumably trying to get back inside through one of the upstairs windows.

Well, it's getting colder now, and I'm flat broke. I'd love to make a stray cat shelter of my own, but I don't have any of the supplies necessary for that. And, because I'm broke, I don't have any money for either the supplies or to buy a pre-made one.

This cat is super cute and friendly, and sometimes visits my house and begs to be let in. It truly breaks my heart, and I'm really afraid something bad will happen to it if it doesn't have anywhere safe to go while it's stuck outside.

So, I've put together a little Amazon wishlist of cat stuff. It has some cat shelters in it. If you're able and feeling generous, I would really appreciate being able to house the kitty as the weather gets colder. 💔 Thanks for reading.

I was able to get a cat shelter, I still need to assemble it, and apparently, I can't line it with blankets. It has to be hay or something because that will retain heat the best. Thankfully, I know someone who can get some for me. Kitty will be housed! Just in time, too, because it started raining really hard today.

Keep your cats inside, by the way! It's a dangerous world, unfortunately.

Mouthwashing Pokémon Team Headcanons

Curly: Pikachu, Salamance, Blue Core Minior, Alolan Sandshrew, Articuno, Pawmot

Jimmy: Noivern, Vileplume, Drapion, Espurr, Mimikyu, Sneasel

Daisuke: Smeargle, Togepi, Pachirisu, Magnemite, Rowlet, Budew

Anya: Audino, Stufful, Glaceon, Swablu, Gallade, Riolu

Swansea: Herdier, Diggersby, Luxray, Pangoro, Swanna, Shieldon

I feel like I don't often explain my choices when I make these team headcanons, so let me do that. When I choose Pokémon, I like to consider aspects of the characters' personalities, but also what would be helpful to them in their everyday lives. Also, I know that all of the Tulpar crew has favorite Pokémon, but Daisuke's wasn't even a Pokémon and I don't feel like Rayquaza would vibe with Jimmy. Rayquaza would show up, tell Jimmy to get his shit sorted, and then leave imo.

Curly: Pikachu because it's his favorite. Salamance, in my opinion, is a good representation of Curly's dissatisfaction with his position as captain. Salamance goes its entire life wanting to be able to fly, and at this stage of evolution, it finally can. Salamance is at the top of its ladder. Minior is a Pokémon from space that wishes it could return home. It is vulnerable in its core form. It likely will never see its home again. Alolan Sandshrew to represent his fate in the cryo pod and because they are prey to Sneasel. Articuno for its Ice/Flying typing (since Curly is a space captain and the aforementioned cryo pod) and because it appears to trainers who are doomed. (Yes, Jimmy is envious like you wouldn't believe.) Pawmot because of its peaceful personality and because they will occasionally heal others with their electric power.

Jimmy: Noivern because of its violent temper and cruelty towards its enemies. Vileplume because of its toxicity. Drapion because they are territorial. Espurr because of its constant internal struggle. Mimikyu because of Curly's pikachu. Sneasel because they are smart, sneaky, and vicious.

Daisuke: Smeargle because he's an artist. Togepi because it shares happiness with those who need it. Pachirisu because it hides its food from others to eat later. Magnemite because he's interning to become a handyman like Swansea. Rowlet because it, according to Bulbapedia, feels most relaxed in tight, dark spaces... like vents... Budew because of his hibiscus shirt.

Anya: Audino because it can use its antennae as stethoscopes. Stufful because they don't want to be touched, and the consequences of doing so are dire. Glaceon because it's her favorite. Swablu to help her keep her workspace tidy, and because it somewhat resembles the nighttime screen with the dead pixel. "Gallade is known to be sharply aware of a person's wish for help and seeks out those who need its assistance in battle, fighting savagely with fast and fierce attacks." Riolu because they are playful, energetic, hardworking, and tough, much like Anya. (Until she became traumatized...)

Swansea: Herdier because it's his favorite. Diggersby for its strength and usefulness in bigger repairs. Luxray because it can see through objects. Pangoro because they are friendly but dislike those who pick on the weak. Swanna, for obvious reasons. (He used to not like the Swanna, but it grew on him. He got it in a trade with Daisuke.) Shieldon for its Rock/Steel typing and because it's mild-mannered.
