self indulgent sketch dump

So in one of my stories a big part of the world building is how witches have evolved to have a symbiotic relationship with these tiny doll people called poppets. They’re based on the idea of European traditions of house poppets but also Ngl I lowkey added them bc I want g/t to be a big part of the world building, but where the tinies actually get to live in peace with the giants who care about them, and the conflict doesn’t have to revolve around them experiencing The HorrorsTM (I mean they do but more bc there’s just a lot of crazy/scary magic stuff that everyone in the world deals with, not bc they specifically are oppressed by the witches or anything).

But basically they evolved to store/absorb mana from witches by being around them and recieving affection from them. Witches who have a good relationship with their poppet can then access the mana that their poppets have stored up to cast spells with bigger mana requirements. Which kinda prevents abuse of tinies in this world, bc the giants are somewhat dependent on them to maintain a decent standard of living

And basically I just wanted to make my self insert guy and their poppet, so I drew a bunch of sketches of them interacting together. Her poppet for now is named Robin, and he originally was a normal human who came from another world where he was considered a “normal” sized life form, but he got kinda permanently turned into a poppet by his witch to save him from getting eaten by one of the fucked up monsters that’s really common in the magic world. So he’s kinda freaked out that now everything is so much bigger than him, and also that now he’s basically kind treated like a doll by everyone around him (which like, to be fair to the witches he talks to, he IS one now :3)

1. I like that I used to have fangs or at least sharpish canines, devastated that they got shaved without my permission by my orthodontist!!! I like the idea of being a toothy giant (friendly but scary smile :3)

2. I’m really proud of my creativity, I love coming up with characters and cool story plots, I’m so excited bc I made a story plot recently with lots of g/t and witches, where the tinies and giants live in harmony, two of my favorite tropes!

3. I’m proud of the fact that I’m smart, I love to learn new things because it literally feels like my brain is sparking with happiness! I also love incorporating my knowledge of science into my stories!!!

4. I love that my affinity for g/t makes me very loving towards small animals, I love to hold frogs and mice and I feel terrible squishing bugs 🥺

5. I like that I’m very tough and stand up for myself a decent amount, I try to be blunt and to make sure that people treat me the way that I’d like to be treated (which is respectfully ofc, lol) and that this also extends often to me trying to make sure that people are fair to others as well

Giant and Tiny Art

Right now I’m drawing one of my g/t characters and it got me thinking of giants and tinies making art together

I feel like lots of people have the giant drawing and using the tiny as a model, which is a fun cute idea because it gives the fun size dynamic of something so large paying such close attention to someone so small, in order to get every last precious detail. Plus there’s the potential for dressing the tiny up in cute outfits and them getting to feel doted on like a doll.

But also consider: a tiny drawing a giant? If the tiny is close to the giant they can walk up close to see every little detail. Those hyper realistic eye drawings? Incredible, because to the tiny it is life sized, and they can see every last fleck of color. They can draw every last freckle on the giants face, and notice details even the giant couldn’t themselves. The final product may be small, but a tiny sized sketch would be the perfect size to tuck into a giants locket next to their heart for safekeeping.

And a tiny who DOESNT know the giant is drawing them in secret? It could be a thing of forbidden love, from a borrower who fell in love with a human they are too scared to reveal themselves too.

Or, even more hilariously, it could be anthropological in nature, with the tinies drawing these “giants” in secret to study them. *instert Steve Irwin voice*: And now we observe the giant in their natural habitat. These creatures lumber about the home, watching moving pictures from their silly little glowing boxes and living symbiotically with the ferocious predator known as the “Felis Catus”

Plus think about 3D art: How a giant making a cute little clay sculpture would be just so amazing to a tiny, because IMAGINE SOMEONE MAKING A SCULPTURE BIGGER THAN YOU BUT WITH ONE HAND!??? It would be incredible. And the amazing craftsmanship of tinies who can easily carve intricate details into the clay, in ways a giant never could.

And, there’d be plenty of potential for fearplay when the giant picks up a ball of wet clay bigger than the tiny, and nonchalantly crushes it in one hand. The tiny would be terrified realizing they could do that to them, to later be soothed by watching the gentle care that the giant takes when carving all the little intricate details, careful not to make the clay crumble, and realizing that the giant is capable of being gentle when handling things much smaller than them.

I am one of the sons of Al Shati refugee camp, and a survivor of Al Shifa hospital massacre. Does anybody care to hear my story?

I live in Gaza city, where my youth was taken from me.

On 7-10-2023 I was asleep, my biggest concern was waking up in time for the 8am lecture at my university.

I'm in Al-Shati camp, south of Gaza. I'm sure you've heard of it. Today is 26-11-2024, it's been more than a year, and I'm still living outside my house. I don't understand why this happened, or why I'm still not in my house.

About two weeks ago was the anniversary of our displacement from northern Gaza to the south and since that day we've known nothing but hardship.

The tent where we live is inhabitable and cannot support any form of life in this cold and this rain and this flooding.

Of all these terrors, the memory of our displacement is the bleakest of them all.

On 10-11-2023, we experienced two days of siege on Al Shifaa hospital, without food nor drink nor even light to see around us, feeling our way like we're blind in order to move around, because even our phones had run out of battery, not even knowing whether the occupation has invaded the hospital yet or not, all we hear is the sound of ceaseless bombardment within the hospital's perimeter.

We lost a lot of people that day. Those who were detained, those who were murdered, and those whose fates are unknown to this day.

We couldn't believe it when the morning finally came, and we finally fled the hospital, to walk 20 kilometers on our feet through Al Halabat path after two days with no food or drink.

This is the story of one of Gaza's sons. My story is not singular, but one of many stories that strengthen our conviction in our right to this land. Most of us here have died for this land.

Our condition today is horrible. This war is picking us off one by one. I am not willing to lose another member of my family. Causes of death are compounding, the latest of which is the cold and storms that the weather has brought.

I have a giant character like this except it’s not bc she’s a giant (bc in this world doll ppl are normal and are treated equal to the “normal” sized witches), it’s because she’s a really powerful witch, and she loves her tiny companion because they are the only one who sees them as just a regular person (who makes dubious life decisions) and not as like a devil or a god.

"Dehumanization in g/t, more dehumanization, yadda yadda" yeah I get that it's super interesting to explore this in g/t but when people say that they only refer to the dehumanization of tinies, of being treated as a pet, being seen as too vulnerable and such. Which is fine on its own but...

Can we talk about dehumanization of giants?

Now that's where things get interesting. A giant that's trying to prove to themselves and the world that they're not a danger to anyone, that they're as much of a person as anyone else, but their size and strength gets in the way. They're talked about as if they're a freak, a horror story, or as if they're some god of destruction, something to be feared and respected, whereas the giant is Just a Guy TM and wants to be treated like everyone else, even if they know that's impossible.

Idk it's just that, when we see stories focusing on giants they usually like being seen and treated as monsters, or as something to be feared, and I wish we saw more of the opposite, giants wanting to be treated on equal terms but never managing to get that.

bruh I’m 5’2 but I wanna be a giant. I like feeling big and scary but also cute. I wanna look over them and have them feel intimidated but protected. Plus also then I would probably not be constantly infantilized / not taken seriously. And people would take me seriously as a protector and see me as badass which is what I strive for :)

g/t romance is great and all but my heart has such a special place for platonic size differences. the trust and reliance a tiny has to have, how careful and soft the giant is. that's their friend! they manage to take up the exact same space in each others hearts! it's so beautiful.
