    The question was heavy on his ears. In truth, he wasn’t sure. Even now as he stared at her, the Serena he’d seen photo’s of in Calems house, the one he’d heard talk of. He could tell it wasn’t her, that everything in this universe, this strange, different universe was wrong. It wasn’t real, he could write it off as a bad dream and just leave. That’s what he had thought.

    But then…he dismissed it just as quickly. He had thought he could leave, but then when he really began to humor the idea he knew he couldn’t. He had come here to find Calem, to bring him home…and Calem shrugged him off. His friend, who had put some faith in Calem and trusted him unconditionally…that friend had betrayed his trust and told him to leave, told him that the same care and trust he had was unrequited, why would he stay here, knowing that? After all, the brother he was trying to save now, the region he was trying to help, that wasn’t his , he could go home and call it all fine.

    He couldn’t though, could he? that wasn’t the kind of man he was. The Ethan of this world might not be his own, but he was still Ethan, his little brother…and he needed help. He couldn’t back down, he couldn’t run away. He wasn’t going to turn his back to family, even if facing forward meant facing down the world, with or without the friend he thought he could trust.
