recently finished The Starving Saints and while i’m glad none of my gays were buried, and i generally enjoyed the book, i’m kinda sad that the girls all seemed to escape the lasting effects of the horrors

i want to see ser vyone struggling with her own agency, unsure of whether she is truly making her own decisions or if there is a higher power making them for her. i want trelia to occasionally disappear from her line of sight and memory, only to flit back in a few hours later.

i want to see phosyne constantly resisting the temptation to see *everything*. i want her to still occasionally dip between the floor boards and for vyone to find her entranced in her own world every once in a while, the room boiling hot.

i want to see trelia afraid of the shadows that she once so deeply loved, unsure of what they will contain and what they will demand of her. i want her to struggle with the loss of her finger and her ear, losing dexterity and perception because she decided to be selfless. i want her to wake up in the middle of the night with her hands around vyone’s throat, her body still yearning for a revenge that her heart no longer wants.

i love eldritch horror and i love fucked up women!! keep my women fucked up!! i might write something more later on this, not sure. this book has given me brain worms (or brain bees?) and i don’t know how to feel about it
