What a show! This concert really was a treat, be it for the dancers, the musicians and of course Hobi himself. Although there were moments when he truly felt overwhelmed (it was a big venue and the next-to-last date of the tour), he still delivered a top-notch performance, as usual. Many people sang along in the room, myself included. For this occasion I went to the theater with my mother ; it was her first live viewing experience and we sure had a blast together! What a perfect way to start June and celebrate Festa with the return of the last enlisted members 🥰

Jin's latest album is here! I was excited to hear new songs from him after Happy, which was a solid body of work. Eventhough the band sound unifies the EP, the variety of emotions explored here is refreshing. Don't Say You Love Me, Nothing Without Your Love and To Me Today are classic Jin songs with a pop rock sound, but we also have country with Rope It, rock with the bubbly Loser and even Japanese OST in With The Clouds ! The latter has Adora credited as a songwriter ; it was a great surprise to see her collaborate with a BTS member again. Background is a favorite of mine because of its poignant lyrics and arrangement. Jin's vocal delivery in this album shows maturity and confidence. I couldn't be more proud of him taking it to the next stage (pun intended 😉) by going on tour soon.

Review of the "Gala des Pièces Jaunes" held by the French First Lady Brigitte Macron and the Fondation des Hôpitaux de France (Paris La Défense Arena, January 23rd, 2025)

Yes, I needed a whole week to process what happened : I saw j-hope at the Gala des Pièces Jaunes for his official comeback on stage 😅​

I've been able to secure a ticket for the Gala on the first date of sale, which I will always be thankful for! I was thrilled to be able to see a member of BTS perform right in front of me again, especially in my home country. I had to anticipate my arrival in order to be in the queue on time because I got a Pit ticket (I'm not from Paris and I was coming by train on the day of the show). This is where the problems began... The line was already long by 10 AM, as some people camped onsite the day before. The staff also visibly underestimated the number of attendants ; for whatever reason, they decided to put people with pit and seated tickets together in the same line, resulting in a chaotic entrance in the arena. In spite of these issues, the Gala was still enjoyable. Hobi was the opener, and the atmosphere was already electric by the time he arrived on stage. I was delighted to see that there were A LOT of ARMY Bombs in the crowd!! After the introduction by Olympic Gold medalist Teddy Riner, the Orchestre Lamoureux started the show with a magnificient opening. These musicians were amazing, by the way!! Many songs were rearranged by them specially for the concert. Then the first notes of "on the street" were heard. I screamed at the top of my lungs when he appeared, and it reasonated with the ARMYs present in the arena. We didn't fail him with our fanchants and cheers, we really sang each lyric from beginning to end!! It really warmed my heart that he noticed it. I don't have any video or photo of Hobi's performance because I just wanted to enjoy the moment and internalize the experience ; it was as if he was coming back home to his stage and we came back home along as ARMY. Despite his 2-year hiatus, Hobi didn't miss a beat. The live versions of his 2 main singles, "on the street' and "MORE", were brilliant and full of charisma. But the crown jewel was "Mic Drop", where he rapped both SUGA's and RM's verses and danced with backup dancers as if it was an OT7 performance. The orchestra really spiced up the song, with an epic ending sampling Nas' "Hate me Now". I was truly overwhelmed after the end of his set, I couldn't believe what I just witnessed : his stage presence, the reaction of ARMY, the excellent work by the orchestra... even to this day I still don't realize that everything was real. Maybe it's also because we are getting closer to BTS' reunion after their military service, but a lot of different emotions came to me that evening, which I can't seem to get over even now : fear, excitement, impatience. How weird.

The other acts were pretty good, some of them didn't really suit my taste, but overall they did a good job in making the show pleasant and fun. I particularly enjoyed John Legend, Burna Boy and Gims. As a former Kpop fan, it was also nice to see G-Dragon and Taeyang of BigBang perform. Rosé of Blackpink was another fan favorite, with a lot of energy to boot.

It was an absolute honor to take part in the Gala, especially since it was for hospitalized children and teenagers. Some ARMY made another fundraising for the association, the amount exceeding 14.000€! It was also very meaningful for it to be the very first performance of j-hope since 2022, and a nice kick-off for his upcoming tour. I definitely want MORE!

*Bonus story 1 : as I was leaving the arena after the Gala to go back to my hotel, I heard a couple talking about the concert behind me. The woman was telling the man that she didn't quite understand the hype around Kpop. However, she added that she enjoyed j-hope's performance (SUCCESS!!)

*Bonus story 2 : the Gala was broadcasted by the French national TV on January 28th. Since it was on prime time, I was able to rewatch it with my mother. The day after, she couldn't stop humming "on the street" (SUCCESS AGAIN!!)

RM "Right People, Wrong Place" in cinemas on December 5th and December 6th, 2024

This documentary was a real treat for music lovers, as expected! We follow RM and his team during the whole production of Right Place Wrong Person, from the recording of songs to the filming of the MVs. It was a fantastic journey with RM and his search for another way to express himself outside of BTS and of the "K-pop world". Funny, insightful and authentic, this film enabled the audience to see Kim Namjoon and his work under a completely different perspective. Like its album counterpart, "Right People, Wrong Place" was critically acclaimed ; the film had its premiere screening at the International Film Festival of Busan.

Jin's album is finally out! I can't help but admire how cohesive it is sonically. Eventhough rock is not my favorite genre, it suits Jin perfectly. There is no jarring change of tone, the songs blend together so well! The back-to-back between Another Level, Falling and Heart on the Window is tastefully done. Speaking of the latter, I particularly enjoy the way Jin is singing with Wendy. It was a really nice surprise, as Wendy happens to be one of my biases in Red Velvet. Falling, the composition brought by Taka and Toru of One OK Rock, is definitely my favorite : I will always have a soft spot for bass driven tracks! The live versions of the songs performed during the two showcases with the band were amazing, and it showed how hard Jin worked on the album. Congratulations WWH!

Jung Kook "I am still" in cinemas from September 18th until the 22nd, 2024

I just came back home! I truly enjoyed the documentary as it really shows how Jungkook recorded Golden in spite of his initial schedule - and doubts. It was heartbreaking to see him struggle while performing during the first TV appearances, it's a good thing that he managed to find some time to rest between promos. I also loved the concert bits and the insightful interviews of the producers who worked with Jungkook.

Many thanks to the lovely ARMY who gave out freebies at my cinema! I was both surprised and happy to receive these. The RPWP keychain is my favorite 🥰 it was the perfect way to celebrate Bangtan's Virgos ♍

And another surprise release ! It was to be expected somehow, since there was a hint in the first Mini Moni video that a follow-up would come next. Although Face and Muse were written almost at the same time, the vibe of the two projects is completely different. The first track Rebirth makes the perfect transition between them ; while Face was very heavy in tone and lyrics, Muse seems more light-hearted with a more danceable sound. This is evident in the lead single Who, which is reminiscent of early 2000's pop in both production and choreography. Be Mine is an interesting track with an African beat and Latin guitars ; the instrumentation is on par with the sensual lyrics. It's a summer song, for sure ! Jimin has put in the hard work vocally, and it's worth noticing that, like in Face, he has actively participated in the songwriting process of the project.

I've waited several days to do a proper review because this album is truly a unique experience! I also wanted to watch the Mini & Moni Music video on Youtube before in order to have all the information about the concept of the album. Let's say that it is different from anything any member of BTS has ever done. From the visuals to the structure of the songs, RM took us on an unfiltered journey through the different emotions he felt during the past 2 years : anger, doubt, desperation, contemplation. Derision and irony are also never too far. In spite of that first impression of "mess" it may give, this album is reminiscent of the mixtape "RM" from 2015 ; the rawness of the lyrics and the repetitive patterns of some songs give the same feeling of brutal honesty. I really enjoyed the alternative vibe of the project, especially on the 2nd track "Nuts" with its Thundercat-esque bassline. The main track "LOST!" has an infectious energy thanks to its background vocals while "Come back to me" ends the album with a chilled atmosphere, as if RM has found some kind of inner peace and accepted the "divine pain" that comes with existing and experiencing life.

Before his enlistment in the military, j-hope decided to embark on a journey to rediscover the roots of street dance and in the same time find out how dance has shaped his life ; in the documentary "Hope on the Street", we follow him and his mentor Boogaloo Kin to meet several famous dancers in Korea and around the world. This album is a physical testament of this journey, and what an album it is! j-hope's blend of hip-hop, funk and electro is always delightful, and all the featurings are great on their own. I especially love "i don't know" where j-hope's and Hyunjin's voices complement each other so well! I also love the fact that each style of dance explored in the documentary is explained in the photobook, along with the interviews of the different dancers. This is why I will always love and respect Hoseok : even at the peak of his career, he is not afraid to learn again and pass on this knowledge to his audience, all the while producing quality music. A true gem!

Here it is, the last solo project of BTS! It is no surprise that this album was crafted as a pop record since Jungkook is a very agile and versatile vocalist ; but while I wished it was showcased more in some songs, his delivery is still impressive, in particular on the title track. Standing Next to You is a brilliant hommage to Michael Jackson, with an energetic choreography to boot. The nods to 2000's RnB throughout the album are extremely enjoyable as well. I can't wait to watch the live performances of the songs. The Golden Maknae sure has grown up!

The very first BTS solo, and what a banger! Nobody expected j-hope to come up with such a dark, deep project. This is the kind of albums that needs multiple listenings to really get the full potential of it. MORE, STOP and Arson are the grittier songs of the album, and also the most interesting in terms of sound. The second part of the project, apart from Arson, is reminiscent of j-hope's previous mixtape because of an overall brighter approach. Jack in the Box is a testimony of how multifaceted Hobi is, both as an artist and as an individual. A fascinating journey!

Our fearless leader! This album is still on heavy rotation, even though it has been released almost one year ago. I'm blown away by the fact that in spite of the different guests and the variety of sounds, RM is still able to bring in his lyricism efficiently. All the songs are amazing on their own, which is quite rare these days. It is also worth noticing that half of the songs have female artists featured on them ; Kim Sawol, Mahalia and parkjiyoon bring a more delicate touch whereas Erykah Badu (what a surprise!) and youjeen are more assertive. RM really is a gifted creator, as it's always a pleasure to listen to his different musical endeavors.
