5 Fantastic Options for the Best Travel Toothbrush
5 Fantastic Options for the Best Travel Toothbrush
We’ve all been there when we just can’t fit another thing in our suitcase. You’re pushing, pulling, and stretching your suitcase zipper until it looks about ready to burst. Finally, you get it shut, and turn around in triumph...only to notice your forgotten toothbrush sitting on the counter. Not only is your toiletries bag already packed away in the stuffed suitcase, but it’s too small to hold the length of your toothbrush. The dilemma is familiar, and this is where a travel toothbrush would come in handy. You could simply slide it in through a slit in the zipper, and you’d be ready to go! Let’s discuss our options to find the best travel toothbrush.

Tips for Choosing a Travel Toothbrush
They may seem insignificant, but travel toothbrushes make all the difference when it comes to fitting one more thing in your suitcase. Specifically, it’s nice to not worry about bringing your daily toothbrush, especially if it’s on the more expensive range of toothbrushes. Still, a good one will come in handy when your vacation extends longer than a weekend and you want to keep up good oral hygiene. While the cheap ones you’ve had for decades may do the trick for a night or two, your teeth will thank you if you upgrade.
Proper Caps & Cases
That being said, when choosing a travel type, look for one with a cover or cap to protect the bristles. This should be a given, but it’s surprising to see the number of “travel toothbrushes” on the market without bristle covers. They are not only unhygienic, but it would create a hassle for traveling with an exposed, damp toothbrush. No one wants to pull wet clothes or makeup out of their bag, so caps are a necessity.
Further, look for a cap or cover that allows for ventilation. Again, one of the most important aspects of traveling is to keep cool and dry, or you’re just inviting bacteria to kick up their feet and stay awhile. Bacteria will find your damp toothbrush, and can definitely cause sickness or infections if left to populate. Therefore, it’s very important to not only thoroughly dry it after each use, but for your stored toothbrush to allow airflow for necessary sanitation. Many covers, holders, and caps come with air slits, but some do not, so keep this in consideration.
Bristles Make a Difference
This may seem more particular, but if your travels are often or extended, the right bristles will help your teeth stay healthy. Look for one with orthodontic-angled bristles. The term “orthodontic-angled” refers to when the bristles make a V-shape, with the outer edges longer than the center. This particular shape has been designed to clean our teeth in the most efficient manner.
These bristles are specifically designed for the grooves of our teeth, scrubbing crevices that non-orthodontic bristles cannot reach. While toothbrushes lacking this shape will still do the job for a basic cleaning, if you are using your travel toothbrush often, orthodontic-angled bristles will give you the best chance at a good report when your dentist appointment comes around.
Another thought to consider is the firmness of the bristles. As you shop for your travel toothbrush, look for a brush that has similar bristles to which you are accustomed. For instance, if your daily toothbrush has soft bristles, your gums can become irritated if you choose firm bristles. Similarly, if your daily preference is firm-bristled, you may not feel as if your teeth are clean enough with soft bristles. The details, though small, make a difference.
Easy for Traveling
Similarly, look for convenience. This is especially important if you are looking into electric toothbrushes. Oftentimes, these electric travel toothbrushes require AAA batteries, and while that is helpful if outlets aren’t available, not everyone has AAA batteries on hand and they can become expensive. They certainly are by far less common than AA batteries, and therefore may cause a bind if they die without backups. However, we want to note that AAA batteries certainly can work well for electric toothbrushes; simply remember to carry backup batteries.
Electric types requiring an outlet charge may be more convenient than batteries if you’d rather not worry about backups, however, they could also be less convenient if you are, for instance, backpacking. Certainly, the most important key here is to take into consideration your type of trip and plan accordingly.
Finally, the weight of the brush is important. With the other items you are undoubtedly packing, as well as travel restrictions on bag weight, every pound matters. It is doubtful that weight will be an issue when it comes to manual toothbrushes. As a rule, these are naturally lightweight. However, if you prefer electric, this is absolutely something to keep in mind. Electric toothbrushes, even travel sizes, can be quite cumbersome.
Additionally, electric toothbrushes often require extra accessories, such as a charging port, cables, and separate brush heads--all of which add up in weight for your toiletries bag. While electric types will always be a fantastic choice, we advise that you check the weight of the handle and total pack. The best travel electric toothbrush will still be lightweight, and thus the decision merits discretion.
Why Specifically a Travel Toothbrush?
Perhaps you are wondering why you should purchase a toothbrush specifically for traveling in the first place. After all, your daily toothbrush at home may not be anything fancy and if it works at home, it would work just as well on your trip out of town. While that may very well be the case, a great number of the population uses electric toothbrushes or fancier manual brushes that we may not want to risk getting lost in our luggage or travels. Toothbrushes are the most common item left behind in hotel rooms, and we’re going to hazard a guess that you don’t want to walk out of your room without your hundred-dollar Bluetooth sonic toothbrush.
Even more specifically than just the fear of losing your nice toothbrush, many standard ones simply don’t fit in toiletries bags. They are often too long or bulky to fit within your small zippered bag with the rest of your bathroom or shower travel essentials. When you are left keeping your toothbrush separate from your other toiletries, the odds are that you’ll leave it behind when you’re in a rush. Let’s be honest, who doesn’t find themselves in a rush at a time or two when traveling? Brushing your teeth is not something you’ll want to miss. The easy solution is to slip a travel-sized toothbrush in your bag with everything else. No more wondering if you grabbed everything before your morning rush!
Our Top 5 Travel Toothbrush Reviews
Our Choice for the Best Travel Toothbrush
Though all of our reviewed toothbrushes would work well for traveling, one, in particular, does stand out to us slightly above the rest. A good travel toothbrush needs ventilation for preventing bacteria growth, needs a compact design for fitting in packed bags, needs to be lightweight, and finally, needs to still have high-quality bristles while staying affordable.
For all of those reasons and more, we are confident that the Mouthwatchers Antimicrobial Folding Travel Toothbrush is an ideal choice. Though it is not electric, it offers superb ventilation, which is an essential aspect while traveling. It is extremely compact due to the toothbrush head folding into the handle, it keeps bacteria at bay even further with its antimicrobial technology, and offers high-quality, orthodontic-angled bristles. An electric toothbrush is always a great choice, but for our particular traveling criteria, it seems to us that this manual folding travel toothbrush comes in as the clear winner.

Cocofloss Review
Cocofloss Review
Have you struggled with finding the motivation to floss daily? From dental appointments to commercials and products, there’s no doubting how vital flossing is for our teeth. Even with this knowledge, it’s one of the most overlooked parts of daily routines. If you have found yourself skipping floss a time or two, know that you aren’t alone. From the difficulty of technique to reaching the back of your mouth, or finding the right product and flavor, flossing can be a struggle. Looking for a more effective flossing solution? That’s where this Cocofloss review will come in handy! What is Cocofloss?
Dentist-designed Cocofloss is a fresh approach to flossing for both better hygiene and genuine enjoyment. If you find yourself dreading the moment you need to pull out the floss, this might be a great option for you. With multifilament fibers, one strand of Cocofloss is woven from multiple threads. Each package contains 32 yards of floss. These threads create a thicker floss strand than almost any other brand, comparing quite well to the Oral B Dental Tape in terms of thickness and cushion. Over 500 polyester filaments work at scrubbing plaque away from between your teeth. Multifilament also may provide greater scrubbing action for your teeth, as each strand works to scrape away plaque, rather than the single surface of traditional floss. Additionally, though this floss is thick, it is still waxed, which will more than likely make it easier to slide between your teeth. Beyond multifilament, Cocofloss comes in mint flavor, as well as three nontraditional flavors of strawberry, orange and coconut. Changing the flavor alone could create a more enjoyable flossing experience for you if you’re tired of only having mint. If you’re like me, you might tire of the same peppermint flavoring for all dental products and enjoy a hint of coconut instead to mix it up! Though Cocofloss is not labeled as all-natural, the main ingredients are natural oils, such as coconut oil, spearmint oil, and corn mint oil. If you prefer minimizing additives, you can take comfort in knowing there are fewer chemicals in your dental routine. The thickness of this floss is typically well-received by most people due to the potential for enhanced hygiene and scrubbing, however, this may not be the best option for you if your teeth are tightly-packed together. The thick floss could prove difficult to slide between your teeth.

Why is Cocofloss a Good Choice? Features & Benefits:
The Company
The Cocofloss team is led by 2 sisters from San Francisco: Chrystle (the Dentist) and Cat (the Engineer). Using a minimalist approach, they curated, formulated and designed this increasingly popular floss. Their product is cruelty-free, vegan, gluten free and paraben free, which definitely appeals to me. I love what they stand for!
Natural
Cocofloss may not be all-natural, but it certainly is infused with natural ingredients. Even if you aren’t concerned with changing your daily products over to all-natural, it certainly doesn’t hurt to add in a few of these beneficial ingredients. On the flip side, this is a great option for those of you who have heard about the benefits of natural oils for your oral health and have been looking for ways to add them. Due to Cocofloss already being infused with the oils, that removes the concern for measuring and diluting from your responsibility. Synthetic products can feel as if you’re putting sugar on your enamel, add to sensitivity, or even leave your mouth feeling dry. There’s a high chance that will no longer be a concern with Cocofloss!
Multifilament
We have already mentioned the benefits of multifilament floss, but let’s talk about it a moment longer. There are several brands on the market already producing multifilament floss, so what makes Cocofloss unique? As you might expect, multifilament is extremely common due to the “multi” fibers lending strength to the strand as a whole. This floss is also considered “woven,” and though it is stronger, it may have a tendency to fray or shred since it doesn’t have a continuous nature. With Cocofloss, however, the strands are even thicker than with other brands of multifilament floss, which creates more friction to truly scrub plaque from between your teeth. As this floss is thicker, it will also be less likely to catch between your teeth or on fillings, similarly to how dental tape works. This thick strand of multifilament is soft on your gums and cushions your teeth while you floss. In my experience, I have had multiple types of floss catch on my fillings or crowns, which makes me nervous. Knowing that this floss has a larger strand comforts me with the smaller chance of damaging my fillings.
Coconut Oil
We’ve touched on essential oils aiding your oral health, but how do they actually work? The first listed Cocofloss oil is coconut oil, quite naturally. Even though coconut oil isn’t an essential oil, but rather, a carrier oil for dilution of essential oils, it still provides health benefits orally. By now, we’ve all heard coconut oil is a superfood, but it might be surprising to hear about these benefits for your dental health. After all, it’s not exactly typical to consider oil as an option for improved oral health. Coconut oil is the richest source of lauric acid known to man. Lauric acid is broken down by your body into monolaurin, though both lauric acid and monolaurin are helpful for eliminating viruses, harmful bacteria, and fungi. Lauric acid has been said to be more effective at killing these pathogens than other fatty acids. This translates to benefitting our oral health by killing the harmful bacteria in our mouths, which typically cause decay, gum disease, and bad breath in the end. Decay and gum disease is caused by the buildup of plaque on our teeth, which is the result of a film created by bacteria in our mouths. With coconut oil helping to kill the bacteria, there will be less of a film to clean away, and therefore, less decay and inflammation. LEARN MORE
Microcrystalline Wax
Microcrystalline wax, just as with paraffin, is derived from petroleum. However, this wax is oftentimes used in beauty products due to its fantastic bonding properties, as well as the fact that it is tacky and elastic, which can provide a number of uses in cosmetics. Microcrystalline wax is composed of fine crystals, which are both adhesive and provide flexibility. It is thin, which is ideal for coating an already thick strand of floss, such as Cocofloss. I appreciate the fact that a high-quality wax is used for this floss because with sensitive teeth like mine, the last thing I want is my floss getting stuck. It’s a frightening moment when floss pulls on a crown, so with this wax, I love that I would have a peace of mind about it!
Essential Oils
Perhaps you haven’t heard of using essential oils in dentistry before. The most commonly known aspect of utilizing oils in dentistry is a technique called oil pulling, which is when an oil such as coconut oil is swished around in the mouth for fifteen to twenty minutes to fight against harmful bacteria. However, essential oils must be approached differently, for instance, with dilution. Essential oils work well to combat antibiotic-resistant bacteria, which are increasingly becoming an issue. Unlike antibiotics, essential oils do not lose their potency over time. Various oils have different purposes, but studies have shown that they have the capacity for anti-inflammatory, antifungal, and antibacterial properties. Additionally, some essential oils are known to be rich in antioxidants. Specifically for Cocofloss, these strands are infused with spearmint oil, among others, which is excellent for helping prevent infection in wounds and ulcers while encouraging faster healing. This may prove quite helpful if you are prone to canker sores! CHECK PRICE HERE
What do customers think?
Cocofloss is the product customers are turning to when nothing else seems to work for them, and are floored by their newfound success! There are numerous reviews of customers raving about the cushioned thickness of the floss for additional scrubbing power and the assurance of truly scraped-clean teeth. Any reviews on the negative range typically revolve around the price and thickness of the floss for those with tightly-spaced teeth. Positive Aspects:
Superb plaque removal
Soft thickness
Easy grip
Negative Aspects:
Expensive
Too thick for tight teeth
Doesn't glide
Solving the Problem
Finding the right floss to establish a daily dental routine can be difficult. This is especially true if you already have issues with flossing due to sensitive teeth or a small mouth. Flossing is extremely important for avoiding tooth decay or root infections, however, so it’s necessary to find a product that works well for us. Cocofloss answers the call in many ways, starting with the thickness of their multifilament floss. If you have a small mouth or find it difficult to reach your molars and keep the floss taut for a great scraping action, the thickness of this floss can help. Cocofloss provides a solid grip while flossing to minimize the stress of simply getting it between your teeth. As for sensitive teeth, the filaments of Cocofloss are soft, which cushions your teeth while still scraping off plaque for a more enjoyable experience. As a bonus, your gums will thank you for the likely reduced irritation as well! Finally, the known health benefits of this essential oil-infused floss with great flavors can provide more motivation to floss than a typical brand from the drugstore. Nano Intensive Whitening Strips Review
Nano Intensive Whitening Strips Review
Though we love our daily cup of java or tea, it wreaks havoc on our teeth. Sooner or later, those drinks show on our teeth with unsightly discoloration. There are numerous whitening kits on the market, but a UK company has caught our eye with their unique approach and promising product. In this Nano Intensive Whitening Strips review, we’ll be examining how they work and how they can help!

About the Product
The Nano strips are focused not only on great whitening results but also helping to remineralize teeth, which reduces sensitivity. If you shy away from whitening due to sensitive teeth, this may be a great solution.
The strips are applied 60 minutes per day for 14 days. This is double the daily time of some other brands, however, that’s possibly due to the Nano pain-free approach. To avoid sensitivity, these strips are free of common chemicals which help other brands work faster. Not only that, but the packaging claims to visibly whiten your teeth about three shades in one use.
Nano’s whitening strips appear to be similar to shineUP’s “Brightly White Teeth Whitening Strips.” They both contain the same number of strips, however, per the labels, shineUP’s formula has a few more chemicals than the Nano whitening strips. The box comes with twenty-eight whitening strips for a two-week treatment. The fact that this is not a quick treatment bodes well for me regarding how long-lasting it may be. Due to the two-week timeframe, these strips may not be for you if you need something last-minute.

How is it helpful?
The Two-Fold Problem
The core principle behind the Nano product line is to provide dental care that whitens while promoting the continued health of your teeth. They recognize we have all been taught the importance of caring for our skin and hair, but comparatively little is taught about quality dental care. Resulting sensitivity from whitening products is a real issue. Many popular brands available are not only painful during application, but leave customers with days of sensitivity, if not more. The Nano whitening strips aim to provide a whitening option free from the fear or pain of sensitivity. This could revolutionize the idea of whitening treatments for people who shy away due to extremely sensitive teeth or previous bad experiences. I personally struggle with extremely sensitive teeth from numerous dental procedures, so I’m very excited to know there’s a pain-free whitening product on the market now.
Oxidation
Though the specific ingredients are rather vague with the Nano strips, they are labeled as having a specific “oxidizing ingredient” for efficient whitening. Oxygenated products are helpful for your teeth because they bring in fresh oxygen, killing the problem-causing anaerobic bacteria in your mouth. These bacteria have been known for causing bad breath, compromising your gums, and discoloring your teeth. Not only do the Nano strips contain these molecules for fresher breath, but it’s an extra boost for whitening. While we don’t know exactly what ingredient is present in these strips, molecular compounds such as Oxyd-8, CoQ10, xylitol, tea tree oil, and aloe vera are all great for oxidizing. This knowledge of oxidation and active ingredients certainly would have come in handy recently when I was shopping for toothpaste to lift the tea stains from my teeth.
LEARN MORE
Enamel
One unique aspect of the Nano strips is how they may help repair enamel and keep it strong. One of the reasons why whitening can hurt is because it typically uses intense chemicals to penetrate the pores of your teeth’s dentin layer, which is near the pulp with your nerves. While this doesn’t damage your enamel, it doesn’t necessarily help it either. Standard bleaching products leave the inner channels of your teeth open and exposed, causing tooth dehydration and the typical pain associated with whitening.
Most whitening products are solely concerned about stripping stains off your teeth without much care for the enamel. I like how the Nano product line cares for the whole tooth in the whitening process, to gently but effectively lift stains without dehydrating your enamel. When using the Nano whitening strips, you may feel more confident in the general health of your teeth, knowing that they most likely aren’t being stripped of minerals or exposed to harsh chemicals.
Sensitivity
It’s common knowledge that teeth whitening and teeth sensitivity go hand in hand. There are numerous reviews, articles, and videos gracing the internet with stories of resulting sensitivity from whitening treatments. The Nano whitening strips are a huge step up in this aspect alone. Sensitivity from standard bleaching products is caused by hydrogen peroxide, which is what invades beyond the enamel to remove the deepest stains. Nano whitening strips are peroxide-free, which gives us a gentle and non-invasive whitening option.I love that this company specifically made sure these don’t further irritate sensitive teeth or cause sensitivity, which makes them unique on the market. This may be fantastic for you if you have sensitive teeth and you’ve always felt apprehensive about trying a whitening product!
Damage-Free
These whitening strips are labeled as being free of several common damaging chemicals. If you are looking for a healthier, though still effective product, this may be a great option for you. I feel like it’s easy to forget that chemicals in dental care still get absorbed into our bodies, so I like that these strips account for that. For those of us who are conscious of what we put into our bodies, it’s good to know these have fewer chemicals. We often hear of harmful chemicals leading to cancer, so it never hurts to choose a product without a few of these synthetic compounds! The Nano whitening strips don’t contain sodium lauryl sulfate, parabens, or triclosan.
Sodium lauryl sulfate helps toothpaste foam, thicken, and acts similarly to soap. While that doesn’t sound bad, there are downsides to SLS as well. First, it defeats the purpose of fluoride by greatly reducing the amount that is deposited on enamel. Second, it can be a cause or aggravation of mouth ulcers, commonly known as canker sores. These sores can be extremely painful and recurring. Knowing these whitening strips doesn’t contain SLS may help you feel more confident that your fluoride is actually helping your teeth. Fluoride can greatly help reduce sensitivity in teeth, so choosing a product that doesn’t undermine fluoride’s effect may indeed help with sensitivity overall.
CHECK PRICE HERE
Further, it may be a good idea for people prone to canker sores to avoid products with SLS due to its triggering nature. This would have been quite useful when I was struggling with lots of canker sores, and my dental products were probably making it worse. Now that I know what ingredient to look for, I can avoid making breakouts worse in the future.Parabens have been circulating the web and health groups for a while now due to their possible association with cancer. Though direct links haven’t been made between parabens and carcinogens, they have been found in breast cancer tumors. Parabens imitate estrogen in our systems, of which is always something to be wary.
The knowledge that these whitening strips are labeled as specifically paraben-free may help you feel better about how you’re caring for your body in more than one way when you use them. Not only may your teeth show the evidence of a good product, but you would be avoiding potentially harmful additives.Triclosan is a big problem with dental care. Nearly every major brand has removed it from their products by now due to the issues associated with it. Triclosan works similarly to an antibiotic in that it doesn’t just kill off bad bacteria--it completely eliminates all traces of good and bad bacteria. When all bacteria is removed, the natural flora in your mouth is imbalanced, which is basically the ecosystem keeping everything normal. When Triclosan is used, more often than not, bad breath and problems with dry mouth result.
Though it’s fairly common that this ingredient no longer appears in most dental care products, it’s still good to know Nano whitening strips don’t contain it either. This would probably be great for people who have had bad experiences with harsh prescription mouthwashes. When you’re already struggling to recover from prescriptions eliminating your good bacteria, the last thing you need is yet another product disrupting it again.
UK Manufactured
An interesting fact about Nano whitening strips is that they are entirely manufactured, tested, and distributed in the UK. I have read Britain has slowly been manufacturing fewer products among themselves, so knowing the strips are entirely produced within the UK is neat. What does it mean for this product line to solely operate in the UK? These products have more than likely been produced with high standards, high-quality materials, and passed the UK’s testing protocol. I’m sure this may give those of you in the UK a peace of mind since the assurance of the product has been thoroughly tested by standards you know and uphold.
What do customers say?
Praises abound for Nano whitening products, especially the whitening strips. The reviews for these strips are solidly positive with only a small percentage of negative reviews. The existing negativity typically stems from customers who ended their treatment before completion. However, customers who have used the product properly rave about the bright, pain-free results.
Positive Aspects Coming From Customers:
Whitens teeth multiple shades brighter
Pain-free during treatment
Zero post-treatment sensitivity
Negative Aspects Coming From Customers:
Not immediate results
Strips leave extra gel on teeth
Tastes strange during treatment
Summing Up
It is a challenge to find whitening products that don’t leave behind sensitive teeth. It’s even harder to find products that can be tolerated by those of us with pre-existing sensitivity. Likewise, if you find a painless product, it rarely makes a difference. Finally, whether a whitening product is pain-free or not, choosing a trustworthy brand without added chemicals can be difficult. The Nano Intensive Whitening Strips could potentially eliminate these issues by providing a peroxide-free option. It avoids penetrating your dentin, which often results in sensitivity both during treatment and after. Their formula utilizes oxidizing ingredients which may ensure effective whitening by removing the anaerobic bacteria. Further, the company recognizes the dangers of SLS, parabens, and Triclosan, and consequently keeps their products free of such chemicals.

Conclusion
Unlike brushing, which only covers the teeth surface, a dental floss penetrates between them and cleans the hard-to-reach places, removing bacteria in them. This way, you are free from potential oral health issues like tooth decay, gingivitis, cavities among other problems people face. It can also whiten your teeth, and boost your self-esteem. Any choice of the above products is a great option that will meet all your needs. Our all-around winner is Dr. Tung's Smart Floss. It is made of multiple filaments, environmentally friendly, has an excellent length to last you several uses, it is ideal for sensitive gums and has lots of positive reviews. Because there's a bunch of people with sensitive gums, the floss is gentle and has an incredible performance. It is also a great choice for people with wide gaps, which is often a group of people who are neglected. However, my personal choice for flossing my own teeth is the Listerine Cool Mint dental floss, specifically because I prefer minty, waxed floss and I’m on a budget. The product is of course only good as long as you use it. Build a habit of using dental floss daily. It is worth your time and money. Hopefully, this review has helped you narrow down your choices.
