Started the 4th season of Sex Education yesterday! I think the change in location has saved the show and I'll explain why!
The first two seasons the school felt sort of normal, right? Outside of the Americanised British style, it was mostly normal! The plot was semi ridiculous because a show about a teenage sex therapist needs to have a sense of ridiculous to work! And it was great!
But the third season comes along and the school setting both feels the same whilst the actions of the head teacher are completely ridiculous! I can never believe that these things would happen at a normal school without the head teacher getting sacked a lot earlier on, and parents rioting the school. It felt like none of the kids had even told their parents what was happening, which is unrealistic.
However, this new school setting is ridiculous in a way that I can accept anything that happens here! Oh it's student run? There's a slide? There's silent discos? The kids made shrines to send positive vibes to the popular couple? Sure, whatever the fuck you want! It's not a realistic school, so when the people at the school act unrealistically, it feels fine!

Saw the funniest transphobic take today! Some guy was saying that enbies didn't exist ten years ago and that was because of emo (he specifically mentioned MCR) so when emo died out, everyone became non binary, so we need to bring emo back! Anyway, my chemical romance has a ridiculously trans fanbase, and Gerard Way uses he/they pronouns, and wears whatever the fuck they want on stage ignoring all gender roles! So I don't think the return of emo is gonna help!

So much (for) stardust:
The way this and Love from the other side bookend the album, with both starting with classical music and the use of the lyrics from love from the other side! So perfect, I love it!

What a time to be alive:
This isn’t really about the song but the drums at the beginning remind me of OMIGOD from Legally Blonde and now I want a Fall Out Boy cover of that! Or maybe Bend and Snap…
(Also this song is really fun)

The Kintsugi Kid:
It’s a good song but it’s probably my least favourite on the album, I just don’t really have any specific thoughts on it!

This is the song I break into a museum to! Yes I am dodging lasers, I am hiding behind corners as the guard walks past, I’m being lowered from the ceiling!

So good right now:
This is probably my favourite song on the album! It makes me feel so good and happy! It makes me want to cheerlead, speaking as an English person where there is no cheerleading, now I want to for this song!

Fake out:
This song just hits me right in the feels! “Do you laugh about me whenever I leave or do I just need more therapy?” Aaaaah this is such a mood, and by more therapy I mean any therapy! The chorus is amazing!

I just want to rant about the drag ban and idk where else to do it. I’m just so mad about it and all the people I see defending it.
The idea that all drag shows are sexual is so bizarre to me. I have been to one drag show in my life, and it was in a gay bar, so an 18+ space, but it was in no way sexual. It was a drag queen singing musical theatre and making jokes.
But let’s pretend that these people are right, all drag shows involve twerking and limited clothing. What else should be banned by this rule? What about any performer that twerks or does any provocative dancing? No more under 18s at those! A lot of people mention hooters in relation to this! No children allowed there anymore! I’ve seen people say that drag queens are bad because they wear fake boobs, and one pieces! So no women with fake boobs around children anymore, that’s illegal! No wearing a swimming costume around children either! You are now only allowed to swim in public if you’re wearing a wetsuit.
And let’s not forget about men! No more walking around shirtless in public! No more speedos in public (no wait that might be good :P).
How do people say these things and believe they are one hundred percent in the right and are defending children instead of realising what they’re actually doing. Demonising and attacking the LGBTQ+ community.
