All Hyundai forgotten cars in India
New Post has been published on https://www.autohubindia.com/all-hyundai-forgotten-cars-in-india/
All Hyundai forgotten cars in India
Hyundai is the second largest carmaker in India. The South Korean brand has a fair share of the Indian market and they have launched quite a few cars here. Not all of them became super successful. We bring you ten Hyundai cars that very few people remember now.
Tucson (first generation)
The Tucson badge in India is not new. Hyundai launched the first generation of the SUV in India in 2005. Back then, the Tucson was one of India’s first luxury soft-roaders, and the market was just not ready for it. Hyundai finally discontinued the car even as global markets received the second generation of the Tucson. Hyundai skipped a generation to launch the all-new, third generation Tucson earlier this year.
Elantra (fourth generation)
Hyundai tried offering the premium Elantra in India way back in 2004. However, the market wasn’t ready to look beyond the Toyota Corolla, a car that has a much stronger brand presence. The overall rounded design also did not help the cause of the third generation Elantra which was discontinued in 2010. Now though, Hyundai sells an all-new Elantra, which is doing quite well.
Sonata Embera
The premium Hyundai Sonata Embera was launched in 2004 when Hyundai was exploring the higher segments in India. It was the fifth generation of the vehicle in the global markets. The Sonata Embera was launched way ahead of its time in India and it was also exported from here. Not many people remember the Embera because of its limited sales during the course of fours years.
Sonata Gold
At one point, the Sonata Gold was Hyundai’s flagship offering in India. It’s Jaguar-like appearance did turn more than a few heads but the car had to take on some very stiff Japanese competition – the Honda Accord and the Toyota Camry. Even Shahrukh Khan’s association could not push the sales of the Sonata Gold in India and it was finally discontinued in 2005.
Fluidic Sonata
Hyundai also launched the sixth generation of the Sonata in India too but the car is no longer being manufactured here. The Fluidic Sonata was launched in 2012 with a sticker price of more than Rs. 18 lakhs. The market did not respond well to the new generation after which the car was discontinued from the market.
Terracan
Hyundai launched a luxury SUV – the Terracan – in India during 2003. The premium SUV was regarded as torque king in India. The 2.9-litre turbocharged engine of the Terracan produced a maximum power of 148 Bhp and humongous torque of 343 Nm. However, this was a time when the Fortuner segment didn’t even exist in India. Carving out something new was quite hard, and Hyundai quickly gave up.
Getz
Hyundai launched the mid-size hatchback Getz in India in 2004. The Getz was known for its space and its stonker of a diesel engine. The 1.5-litre diesel engine of the Getz produced a maximum of 110 Bhp – 235 Nm. The hatchback can still be found in the garages of many enthusiasts but the mass-market has more or less forgotten it.
Accent Viva
The Viva was unique as it was the only notchback offered in India at that time. The Viva was based on the popular Accent model and was targeted at the customers who were enthusiasts at heart. The Viva was marketed as a sporty vehicle but anything focused towards enthusiasts doesn’t work well in India. The Viva had to bow out fast.
Santa Fe (second generation)
Hyundai launched the second generation Santa Fe in India in 2010. The premium SUV was imported to the Indian markets and carried a hefty price tag, which was much more than that of market-leader – Toyota Fortuner. Sales never took off.
Santa Fe (third generation)
Hyundai also launched the latest generation Santa Fe in India, and it looked completely different from the older model. Sadly, the model failed to put a decent number on the sales chart despite being one of the most powerful SUVs in its class. Hyundai discontinued the Santa Fe in India earlier this year.

New Hyundai Santro 2018 Model Comming in 2019
New Post has been published on https://www.autohubindia.com/new-hyundai-santro-2018-model-comming-in-2019/
New Hyundai Santro 2018 Model Comming in 2019
Hyundai is all set to launch the next-generation Hyundai Santro 2018 Model in India by the end of this year. So far, the automaker has been completely mute about the details regarding this vehicle. Nevertheless, our expectations from the latest iteration of this compact hatchback are quite high. We believe that the 2018 Santro is going to have all the capabilities to potentially become a game changer in its segment.
One of the biggest advantage that the new Santro is going to have over its competition is its looks. It will have its exterior profile in-line with Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language. This means that the Hyundai Santro 2018’s exterior design will have a perfect blend of sporty credentials and modern premium styling.
Price
  3.50 lakh Expected Price
February 2019 Expected Launch Date
Another major point in favour of the next-gen Hyundai Santro is going to be its interiors. Hyundai is known to provide good quality interiors, even in its entry-level vehicles. Consequently, the material quality of various cabin elements is going to be comparatively better than its competition. Furthermore, the 2018 Santro will underpin the same platform as that of the current generation i10. Which means that the space on the inside is going to be quite adequate for 4 average sized adults.
In addition to this, on the kit front, the Santro is likely to mask all its rivals. Expect even the base variant to come with power windows and air-conditioning. The top-end variants are likely to have a very long feature list. These could include LED tail-time running lights, automatic climate control, a touchscreen infotainment system, seat height adjuster, electrically operated ORVM to name a few. Furthermore, the 2018 Santro is also going to score better than its previous model in terms of safety. It will have dual airbags and ABS with EBD as standard across the range.
We do not expect a drastic change in the engine specifications of the 2018 Santro. It is likely to come with the same 1.1-litre, petrol engine from the i10. This will pump out 70 BHP of power along with 100 Nm of peak torque. This figure is marginally higher than its competitor, the Maruti WagonR. The engine is going to get a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard across the range. In addition to this, the new Santro will also have an automatic gearbox in its line-up. This could either be an AMT unit or the same torque converter that we see on the Grand i10.

Exterior
While there’s nothing too radical about the way the new Passat looks, you’ll still catch many road users stealing admiring glances in the Passat’s direction. This is simply because of the understated elegance that this sedan exhibits. The new Passat looks sufficiently modern whilst carrying the design DNA of modern-day VWs. The front-end of the car looks pretty stately, which is mainly due to the chrome-garnish on the front grille and sleek-looking headlamps with LED fixtures. Some diagonal surfaces get along really well with the wide grille and the stylish headlamps to give this car a distinctly Volkswagen nose.
The side profile is all about clean lines and taut surfaces. The highlight here is the area between the beltline and the bold shoulder line, which is where the there is creases and the edges meet to form a very sportscar-like C-pillar. The multi-spoke alloys give the car a classy look.
The rear-end is characterized by the wide and sleet taillamps that make the car look even wider. Another feature of the posterior is the crease beneath the taillamps, where the sheetmetal draws slightly inward. This interesting design feature gives a unique touch to the Passat’s posterior.
Interior
The interior of the new Volkswagen Passat is all about high-quality plastics and a great fit-and-finish. The design of the dashboard is highly reminiscent of some of modern-day Audis while the dark color theme makes the cabin look a wee bit more luxurious. The dashboard also gets a wood trim to keep things classy. The piano-black trim around the touchscreen infotainment system further spruces up the area.
The Passat has been known to offer one of the best cabins in its segment and the latest version takes things a notch higher. The seats of the new Passat are very comfortable and offer electric adjustments. The driver’s seat also offers memory adjustments. Furthermore, there’s also a massage feature. Of course, the cabin feels very airy and has generous legroom both at the front and at the rear. That said, the Passat still can’t match the limo-like Superb in this aspect. The bootspace, at 586-litres, can hold plenty of luggage. There’s also a 60:40 split-folding feature for the rear seat to boost this car’s luggage-carrying capacity to a great extent. The long list of features also includes – Heated Front Seats, Nine airbags, ABS, ESC, Automatic parking, Tyre pressure monitoring system, Three-zone climate control system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Electric rear sunshade, and Electric sunroof.
Engine Performance and Driving Dynamics
While the likes of Toyota Camry and Honda Accord have taken the hybrid route, Passat’s not-so-distant cousin, the Skoda Superb, is available with both petrol and diesel engine options. The Volkswagen Passat, however, is available only with a diesel engine. The 2.0-litre TDI turbo diesel motor of the Passat outputs a maximum power of 175 bhp along with a peak torque of 350 Nm. The motor comes mated to a six-speed DSG automatic transmission. The car has an ARAI-rated fuel efficiency of 17.42 kmpl.
A highlight here is that the maximum torque is produced right from 1,500 RPM and continues to be on offer till 3,500 RPM. So, basically, what this means is that the performance stays pretty linear almost throughout the rev band. The six-speed DSG offers quick and well-timed shifts. You can override the electronics and shift gears manually through the steering-mounted paddle shifters. The only chink in the armor is the slightly high NVH-levels. The diesel engine clatter, even on idle, is fairly audible inside the cabin and it gets a bit noisy at higher revs.
The ride quality goes on to play a very important role in making this car among the most comfortable options in its price bracket. It takes all sorts of undulations and irregularities in its stride with quite an ease. On the highways, the car stays planted at high speeds and offers the proverbial ‘waftability’ expensive German saloons are famous for. The steering is precise and doesn’t feel lifeless. However, all that weight feels a bit artificially induced. There’s a hint of body roll during high-speed lane changes. The brakes offer a strong bite and can easily slow down this car from high speeds without really breaking a sweat.
Verdict
While premium sedans haven’t been setting the sales charts on fire, there’s definitely a small section of car buyers that opt for large premium sedans priced just below the entry-level offerings from the luxury car marques. The new Passat caters to this segment and hence, has been in the crosshairs of models like the latest-generation Skoda Superb. Heck, it also competes with cars like the Mercedes-Benz CLA and the Audi A3 on the price front.
The original Passat was based on the Audi 80 sedan and hence, shared in plenty with its more premium sibling. The new-generation Passat, on the other hand, is built on the same platform as the new Audi A6. This not only helps it get even closer to the entry-level luxury sedans but even get better in certain aspects. The new Volkswagen Passat comes across as a really good option for all those looking for a comfortable Diesel-sipping premium sedan that has an understated elegance about it.

Suzuki announced a price reduction on Hayabusa and GSX-R1000
New Post has been published on https://www.autohubindia.com/suzuki-announced-a-price-reduction-on-hayabusa-and-gsx-r1000/
Suzuki announced a price reduction on Hayabusa and GSX-R1000
Suzuki Motorcycle India has announced a price reduction on its flagship bike, the Hayabusa and the GSX-R1000 in India post the duty reductions. This comes after the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) announced a reduction in customs duty for all CBU motorcycles and the new limit is set at 50%. Suzuki has decided to pass on the price benefit to the customers directly.
With the new tax regime in place, the Suzuki GSX-R1000, which is sold as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) in India gets a price drop of Rs. 2.2 lakh. The bike is now priced at Rs. 19.8 lakh as against Rs 22 lakh, ex-showroom earlier. The Hayabusa, which is already assembled in India and comes here through the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route gets a much lesser price cut of Rs. 28,000 and is now available at a price of Rs. 13.58 lakhs, ex-showroom.
Earlier, Yamaha announced the price reduction of bikes like the Yamaha YZF-R1 and the MT-09 in India. Other motorcycle manufacturers may also follow the suite soon and announce new reduced prices of the motorcycles.
Earlier, a customer had to pay 60% tax on the motorcycles of 800cc or less and 75% for the more than 800cc CBU models. For CKD models, the tax was different. For the bikes which do not get engine and gearbox mounted on the bike but in pre-assembled form had 30% tax. It now comes down to 25%. For the bikes, which do not get the pre-assembled condition, the duty increases to 15% from earlier 10%.
The Suzuki Hayabusa is assembled in India. It is a sports tourer and has a huge fan following in India. The bike is powered by 1,340cc, in-line four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. It produces a maximum power of 196 Bhp and 154 Nm of torque. The bike gets Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (S-DMS) that has three riding modes. The modes can be shifted to get different throttle response and power delivery.
The Suzuki GSX-R1000 is the flagship track-oriented motorcycle of the Japanese brand. It is powered by a 1,000cc liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder engine that develops a maximum power of 202 Bhp and maximum torque of 117.6 Nm. The immense power of the motorcycle translates into insane 1,000 hp per tonne.

Also, the footpeg in the Pulsar 150 is now aluminium finished in comparison to the current chrome one. Furthermore, the pedals too look considerable premium than before. MAD MAX modified Toyota Fortuner SUV
New Post has been published on https://www.autohubindia.com/mad-max-modified-toyota-fortuner-suv/
MAD MAX modified Toyota Fortuner SUV
The Fortuner is a rugged ladder on frame SUV. Though it is highly capable off-road, most owners only use it in the urban jungle. There are a few passionate owners however who really use the car the way it is meant to be used. Here is one such heavily modified Fortuner.
The Fortuner has always had Butch and macho looks. This one, however, takes it to an all new level. The main motive behind this transformation was that the owner wanted to have a capable vehicle off-road which needed to be as raw as possible.
The vehicle, though outlandish to look at fufills the owner’s need well. He has removed the front bumper to make the car easier to climb over steep things. The front grill and headlamps have been covered by a metallic mesh to protect them.
That has been done to make sure there is no damage on to the radiator at the time of severe off-roading. The mesh also allows the stock radiator to function without any hiccup. The side step has also been removed to help the off-roading capabilities. There is a snorkel on it as well.
The reason for this build was to have a go-anywhere camper van as the owner enjoys the outdoors a lot. The roof features a tent system which can be used for camping. There are cylindrical water tanks present as well. There is a ladder on the passenger side that helps you climb up.
At the back of the vehicle, you will see a scooter mounted. The reason behind that is when the owner goes off-roading, he likes to take his scooter along to travel short distances off-road on it while he is camping. It is a 2 stroke Kinetic Honda which has been stripped down. This has been done to reduce weight and to make sure that there are lesser things that can go wrong in the vehicle.
Under the hood, there have been no changes what so ever. The trusty and dependable 3.0 liter D-4D engine has covered over 1.5 lakh kms. The engine has run more than 30,000 kms after these modifications and the owner has faced no issue till now.
He is now working on improving the interiors of the car. He also wants to add a fully functional chemical toilet in the car so that he doesn’t have to face issues on his trips into the wilderness. We wish him luck for his upcoming adventures.

2018 Toyota Yaris Ativ TRD Launch
New Post has been published on https://www.autohubindia.com/2018-toyota-yaris-ativ-trd-launch/
2018 Toyota Yaris Ativ TRD Launch
At Bangkok Motor Show 2018 Japanese Automaker Toyota has unveiled the TRD variant of Toyota Yaris Ativ. The car will be launched in India next month by the name of Toyota Yaris. The Toyota Yaris TRD is developed by Toyota Racing Development and gets a number of sporty body parts for a more dynamic styling. At the front, the Toyota Yaris TRD variant gets underbody spoilers with red accents and thicker fog lamps that surrounds the front. At the rear end, the car gets black bumper valance and black trunk lid spoiler. Surprisingly, the car gets the same alloy wheels as on the regular model but the side skirts provide the car a more aggressive stance.

  Toyota Yaris Overview
The Yaris Ativ TRD gets a set of cosmetic changes to look sportier and hence, more attractive. The same body kit will make it to the Singapore-spec Vios. Hence, there are good chances it will make it to India, too. On the outside, the Yaris TRD gets dual-tone side skirts, red-painted front spoiler and rear diffuser, and a sportier front bumper that carries larger fog lamps. The outside rear-view mirrors also get some red highlights. The boot spoiler has been painted in black. The TRD variant doesn’t offer any performance updates. The major difference between the Yaris Ativ and the India-spec Yaris lies under the hood. While the Yaris Ativ gets a 1.2-liter naturally-aspirated petrol engine, the Indian car has a 1.5-liter unit.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor has already commenced the bookings for the new Yaris. The India-spec model offers 108 bhp from its 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine. It comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and also offers an optional 7-step CVT. There won’t be any diesel engine option. A petrol-electric hybrid might launch later.
In India, the Toyota Yaris will go on to rival the likes of Maruti Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, and Honda City. TKM will use high levels of localization to make sure that prices stay competitive. We expect the prices to start at Rs 8.5 lakh and go all the way to Rs 13 lakh. The Yaris will offer some segment-first features such as gesture control for the touchscreen infotainment system, tire pressure monitoring system, roof-mounted rear air-con, ambient lighting, powered driver’s seat adjustment, and front parking sensors.
Toyota has previously launched the TRD versions of the Etios and the Fortuner. Hence, even the Yaris TRD is highly likely to make it to our market sometime after the launch of the new C2-sedan.

Modified Mahindra Thar Live Like Beast
New Post has been published on https://www.autohubindia.com/modified-mahindra-thar-live-like-beast/
Modified Mahindra Thar Live Like Beast
Mahindra Thar is easily among the most popular lifestyle vehicles in India. While the Thar is loved by many for its off-road prowess, there are some who like it mostly for its rugged character and macho looks. The Thar also provides a pretty clean canvas for modifications. We’ve already featured several examples of modified Mahindra Thar on Cartoq. Today, in this post, we have 10 modified Mahindra Thar we’ve ever come across.
Modified Mahindra Thar by DC Design
The car you see in the image we have above is actually a modified Mahindra Thar from DC Design. DC gave the Thar an altogether new look by coming up with a design that can be best described as modern and soft. The customizer insists that this Thar is for the urbanites who love the Thar for its go-anywhere capabilities but want a softer, metrosexual look.
DC Design Hammer
The ‘Hammer’ is the latest Thar-based creation from DC Design. What’s noteworthy here is that the Hammer doesn’t look as odd-ball as his earlier Thar modification The Hammer retains the butch lines of the original Thar and gets many styling updates to blend a touch of modernization with the classic Jeep lines. The interior also gets some changes. The dashboard gets some chrome trim and also a touchscreen stereo. There are no mechanical changes though. The Hammer continues to be powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged diesel engine that outputs 105 Bhp of max. power and 247 Nm of peak torque. The customization costs Rs 5.5 lakh (plus the donor vehicle).
Mahindra Thar Archer
A Thar owner in Delhi took 2 years and spent almost Rs 10 lakh to come up with the Archer-Muscle Truck Concept you see above. The Archer gets a completely new exterior design that looks a lot bolder and edgier than that of its donor vehicle. The new roofline is 6†lower while the door length has increased by 6â€. The bonnet height has increased by 10â€. The interior gets a new dashboard, power windows, central locking, roof-mounted switches, sports steering wheel, and a Rockford Fosgate music system.  The engine gets a DieselTronic tuning box and a performance exhaust. The suspension gets new fiber leaf springs at the rear and new gas-filled shock absorbers.
Modified Mahindra Thar by St. Mary’s Garage, Kerala
The St. Mary’s Garage (SMG)in Munnar, Kerala, is pretty well-known for its modified jeeps. Among the most spectacular of its latest modifications is this customized Thar. The exterior of this Thar has been completely redone. The original bonnet has been replaced with a more angular, wedge-like unit that gives the front-end a very butch and aggressive look. The original headlamp slots have been carried over but the headlamps now carry a projector unit each. The grille is new and has horizontal slats, which is another bit that almost totally hides this vehicle’s original identity. The fenders and the bumpers are also new. The rear gets new taillamps along with several other new bits. This is definitely among the boldest-looking Thar mod jobs we’ve seen so far.
Mahindra Thar 6×6
The inspiration for this Thar seems to have come from the Mercedes G-Wagon 6×6 version that went viral on social media a few years ago. Akin to the luxury SUV, this Thar also gets 6 wheels. Moreover, it definitely looks as attractive. This Thar gets four doors and a loading bay. It retains the classic Jeep design but introduces the 6×6 look to it.
Modified Mahindra Thar by SP Customs, Pune
The modified Thar by SP Customs, Pune, doesn’t look anything like the normal version. It gets a much bolder stance and the front-end seems to have been inspired by a Hummer. The rear gets a hardtop with a rather boxy profile, which makes this Thar look further more butch. The front-end also gets a new bumper that has a chrome-finished honeycomb grille for the air dam and an SP badge. The bumper sits just above a huge skid plate, which is also finished in chrome. Even the doors are new and get rather chunky-looking ORVMs. This one’s definitely among the most outlandish Mahindra Thar modifications we’ve seen so far.
Modified Mahindra Thar by Grizzly Customs
Pune-based Grizzly Customs has come up with a modified Mahindra Thar that has 6 wheels! The Thar appears even bolder with the two additional wheels at the rear. Also, bits like the LED projector headlamps, the front bull bar, large headlamps, and the custom bumper make this Thar look more aggressive. The black paint job also plays a role in making this Thar look wilder.
Mahindra Thar with ‘Angry Bird’ modification
Inspired by the Angry Birds cartoon, this modified Mahindra Thar gets a custom grille that tries to have an essence of the much-loved cartoon character.  The bumper is also new and has a built-in bullbar. Furthermore, this Thar gets wider tires and bolder wheel arches. The Thar also gets a custom fiberglass hardtop that has been given a very aggressively design. The rear-end also gets many new bits such as LED taillamps. The interior has been completely revamped and gets new bucket seats at the front along with several other new bits.
Mahindra Thar Wanderlust
Mahindra and Mahindra showcased the Thar Wanderlust at the Auto Expo 2018. The Wanderlust looks like a wilder cousin of the Thar Daybreak. It gets gullwing-style doors and electric blue matte paint shade among many other new bits. It rides on 33-inch negative offset steel wheels shod with really wide tires. There’s a new front grille and the fenders are custom-made, too. The front-end also gets a winch to complete that off-road-ready look. The Wanderlust gets twin exhausts that poke out of either end. The Wanderlust doesn’t get any mechanical changes. It continues to get its juice from a 2.5-liter CRDe turbo diesel engine that outputs 105 Bhp-247 Nm.
Mahindra Thar Daybreak
Mahindra showcased a custom Thar even at the Auto Expo 2016. This customized Thar, which has been dubbed as the ‘Daybreak’, carries several updates that make it look bolder and hence, more appealing. The front-end comes with a factory-fitted winch, which is positioned on a custom bumper. The headlamps get DRLs while the taillamps get the LED treatment. The bonnet gets a huge scoop. The biggest highlight of the side profile is the new design for the doors. This Thar gets custom steel wheels that are shod with MP tires. These tires increase this Thar’s ground clearance by a significant margin. Also, it gets a dual exhaust setup.

      BMW X3 Preview
While the new-gen X3 continues to have a rather daunting stance and a high street presence, the design of the SUV (SAV in BMW speak) is entirely new. The front-end is characterized by a larger kidney grille while the rear-end gets completely different-looking taillamps. Even in the side profile, the X3 now looks like a slightly smaller X5, which is only a good thing. Moreover, the X3 gets entirely new underpinnings, which make the third-gen model benefit from a significantly stiffer chassis and weight savings of up to 55 KGs. While the overall dimensions don’t see much of a change, the new car enjoys a longer wheelbase, which, in turn, frees up some space on the inside.

10 things you DON’T know about the Scorpio History
New Post has been published on https://www.autohubindia.com/10-things-you-dont-know-about-the-scorpio-history/
10 things you DON’T know about the Scorpio History
First launched in 2002, the Mahindra Scorpio is one of India’s all-time best selling SUVs. But there are more than a few things that most people, including enthusiasts, won’t know about this iconic SUV.  So, this brings us to the 10 things you DON’T know about the Scorpio.
Mahindra’s first truly in-house vehicle
Before the Scorpio, Mahindra was in operation for nearly 5 decades, but without a single in-house vehicle design that it could call its own. Then the Scorpio was born, in 2002, on Mahindra & Mahindra’s 50th anniversary. The Scorpio was designed and developed in house, with inputs from AVL Austria and consultants from Japan.
Only 23 engineers worked on the Scorpio project
And this helped Mahindra keep costs low. The entire cost of designing and developing the Scorpio, including the tooling at the Nashik factory, cost just 500 crore rupees, a remarkable feat indeed. Mahindra could achieve this by involving vendors in the design and development of the vehicle. In fact, most systems of the Scorpio were developed by vendors with Mahindra responsible for vehicle integration (deciding on how to put the parts together) and production.
Leaf springs at rear
When the Scorpio was first launched, it used independent front suspension and leaf spring suspension at the rear, a layout that’s still found on the likes of the Bolero and Thar. The current Scorpios feature independent front suspension and coil spring suspension supported by a torsion bar at the rear.
2 liter petrol engine
Along with 2.6 liter SZ2600 turbo diesel engine, the very first Scorpio also got a Renault-sourced 2 liter petrol engine that produced about 116 Bhp (7 Bhp more than the diesel but only 187 Nm of torque, 63 Nm lesser than the diesel). The petrol motor never sold well though as the mileage it delivered was abysmal. Also, large SUVs sold in India are preferred with diesel engines than petrol engines.
Shock pricing
The Scorpio launched in 2002 started from 5.5 lakh rupees. Yes, that was what Mahindra used to charge for the base diesel version of the SUV, making it more than 50,000 rupees cheaper than the Toyota Qualis, an MUV that was the rage at that time. Now, the Scorpio S2 M2DiCR starts at 9.4 lakh rupees.
Of course, it sits on a modified ladder frame chassis and has a bunch of new features and refinements, but it’s still less powerful than the original Scorpio with 75 Bhp-180 Nm outputs. The original Scorpio made 109 Bhp-250 Nm. The more powerful 2.2 mHawk diesel (120 Bhp-280 Nm) version of the SUV starts from 10.03 lakhs.
Customized Scorpios
Did you know that you can buy a Scorpio right away and get it customized by Mahindra through their in-house customization outfit called Mahindra Customization, situated at Mumbai. Well, Mahindra is the only budget SUV maker in the country that offers heavy customization through its in-house custom car outfit.
First Indian SUV to offer sedan-like features
In 2007,  5 years after the first Scorpio was launched in India, Mahindra added a raft of features to this SUV, making it better equipped than most luxury sedans. Rain sensing wipers, cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring system, voice assist, reverse sensors and “follow-me-home†headlamps were some of the features that the top-end Scorpio received.
First Indian SUV to offer a diesel auto and start-stop option
An automatic gearbox on a budget SUV was a rarity, leave alone such an option on a tough, macho diesel SUV. The Scorpio raised the bar in 2008, when its 2.2 liter mHawk turbo diesel engine came equipped with a 6 speed automatic gearbox. To this day, the Scorpio is the only 4X4 ladder frame SUV under 20 lakh rupees to offer an automatic transmission. Start-stop, imaginatively called Micro Hybrid, was also introduced on the Scorpio.
2.2 liter turbo petrol
Did you know that the Mahindra Scorpio sold in Latin America is powered by a 2.2 liter turbo petrol engine, which is essentially the petrol version of the mHawk diesel. This motor makes 154 Bhp-280 Nm, but is not available in the Indian car market. In the near future, Mahindra may equip the Scorpio with a petrol engine in India as there’s a growing uncertainty over diesels.
India’s not the only place
…where the Scorpio is produced. Mahindra produces this SUV in Africa and South America. Yes, Egypt has a CKD assembly operation for the Scorpio, and so does Uruguay. The Egyptian factory takes case of Scorpio demand coming in from many parts of Africa while the factory at Uruguay handles South American orders. Also, the Scorpio is more popular as a pick up truck in other parts of the world than as an SUV.

5 gorgeous Modified Cars Maruti 800 to Hindustan Contessa
The saying, “Old is gold”, meticulously applies to cars and SUVs. While most cars are ignored after the end of their life cycles, some live on as enthusiast-modified retro rides. Here are 20 such gorgeous retro cars that will drop your jaw!
Maruti SS80
The Maruti SS80 became a sensation in India when it was launched in the 1980s in India. The car came with a massive waiting period and was considered as a luxury by most Indian households. The Maruti SS80 broke the monotonous design of the likes of Hindustan Ambassador and Padmini 118 NE.
This Kerala-based restoration and modification job takes the looks of the vehicle to an all-new level altogether. The car gets a smart blue colour with wide tyres. The rims get painted in white accentuating the whole look of the vehicle. The modified SS80 even gets a new grille. The subtle yet powerful mods give the vehicle an all-new look.
Mahindra MM540
The spiritual predecessor of the Mahindra Thar. The sturdy MM540 has been beautifully restored and modified to fit in the modern day race of vehicles. The MM540 gets 1.8-litre Isuzu engine swap with a supercharger and upgraded fuel injection.
There are also supporting modifications like stage 2 clutch upgrade, PLX wideband, 4WD Isuzu trooper 5-speed gearbox. The vehicle gets a soothing blue tone making it even more attractive.
Maruti Esteem
The Maruti Esteem was the first sedan from Maruti in India and it became the status symbol of the middle-class families in that era. The Esteem seen here has been tastefully modified to looks brilliant. The 1.3-litre petrol engine of the vehicle gets supported by custom exhaust system with HKS end can and HKS intake system.
Esteem also gets customised lowering springs which reduce the height of the sedan. There are now 15-inch 9J rims and customised body kit. At the front, the vehicle also gets aftermarket projector lamps with angel eyes.
Hindustan Contessa
Hindustan Contessa was India’s first muscle car inspired sedan. There are many fine examples of the modified vehicle in India, here is one such example. The Contessa here gets a matte green paint job with a huge intake system on the hood.
The Hindustan Contessa gets good looking wide rims with fat tyres. The car has been tastefully modified and will turn almost every head on the road. The car also remind you of the iconic Dodge Charger used by Vin Diesel in the Fast and Furious series
Jeep low rider
This low-rider from the land of five rivers, Punjab is truly mesmerising. The SUV gets close to ground low stance and wide profile tyres. Even the body is aftermarket with a wide kit that makes the vehicle look very unique. The vehicle has a massive road presence and open roof layout gives it a cool look.

Maruti Ciaz outsells Honda City and Hyundai Verna, once again!
New Post has been published on https://www.autohubindia.com/maruti-ciaz-outsells-honda-city-and-hyundai-verna-once-again/
Maruti Ciaz outsells Honda City and Hyundai Verna, once again!
Maruti Ciaz is king of C-Segment sedan space by outselling the Honda City & Hyundai Verna
Maruti is once again ruling the C2-Segment sedan space. The Ciaz has just outsold both the Honda City and the Hyundai Verna in February 2018 and that too by a significant margin. Maruti sold as many as 4,897 units of the Ciaz in February 2018 while Hyundai could sell 4,001 units of the Verna. Honda finished in the third place with 3,885 units of the City in the same month. The Ciaz is the largest car (with prices starting from Rs 7.83 lakh) among the trio and this seems to be working in Maruti’s favor. It’s worth mentioning here that the company is yet to launch the Ciaz facelift and hence, the Ciaz isn’t as fresh as the other two cars here.
Maruti is putting together a facelift-ed version of the Ciaz, which will be launched in August this year. The Ciaz facelift will feature new petrol and diesel engines, both of which will be more powerful than the existing line up of motors. Currently, the Ciaz features1.4-liter K-Series petrol engine with 91 Bhp and 130 Nm while the diesel engine is a turbocharged 1.3-liter Fiat-sourced Multijet unit with 89 Bhp-200 Nm. Both engines come mated to 5-speed manual gearboxes as standard. The petrol engine also gets an optional 4-speed torque converter automatic option. The Diesel variant of the Ciaz also offers mild-hybrid SHVS (Suzuki Hybrid Vehicle System) tech.
Coming to competition, the Honda City, too, is offered with both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol motor comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. A CVT automatic option is offered as an optional extra. The diesel engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual unit. City’s petrol motor outputs 117 Bhp-145 N. The diesel engine outputs 98.6 Bhp-200 Nm. Prices of the City start at Rs 8.72 lakh.
The Hyundai Verna offers the most number of engine and transmission options. Its prices start at Rs. 7.8 lakh. The base variant of the Verna uses a 1.4-liter petrol engine that outputs 99 Bhp and 134 Nm. The other two variants get 1.6 liter petrol and turbocharged diesel engines. The 1.6-liter petrol motor makes 121 Bhp-151 Nm while the turbocharged diesel motor is the most powerful of the lot with 121 Bhp-260 Nm. All engines get 6 speed manual gearboxes as standard while the larger petrol and the diesel engine also offer 6-speed 6 speed automatic gearbox options.

Mahindra re-launched the 295cc Mojo in the Indian market
New Post has been published on https://www.autohubindia.com/mahindra-re-launched-the-295cc-mojo-in-the-indian-market/
Mahindra re-launched the 295cc Mojo in the Indian market
Mahindra re-launched the 295cc Mojo in the Indian market last week in new versions of XT 300 and UT 300. These are being promoted as ‘Xtreme Tourer’ and ‘Urban Tourer’ models and have a price difference of Rs 25,000. Infact, the cheaper UT 300 gets a further discount of Rs 10,000 till 31st March, making it Rs 35,000 cheaper than the XT 300. Lets have a closer look at the similarities and differences between both these Mojo versions
Continue to read the text or scroll down to watch the video
Styling
The Mahindra Mojo XT 300 is basically the earlier, single version that was sold in India. The cheaper UT 300 looks identical in terms of design but there are a few aesthetic changes. The UT does not get a dual color treatment for the fuel tank, radiator shrouds, belly pan and the visor. This change suddenly makes the XT 300 look so much cooler! However, given the price advantage, the UT 300 will bring in numbers, something that is the need of the hour. The UT also sits lower by 8.5 mm and has a ground clearance of just 165 mm.
Features
In order to cut down on price, the UT 300 misses out on a lot of features. We will start from the front – the UT 300 now sports conventional forks as compared to USD (up-side down) forks seen on the XT 300. Next, Mahindra has ditched the expensive Pirelli tyres for Indian made MRF ones. The rear tyre is also narrower at 140mm as compared to 150cc seen on the Mojo XT 300. We all loved the dual exhaust set-up of the XT 300, something that also gave it a rather good exhaust note – this is now missing on the UT 300 as it has a single exhaust set-up to keep price and weight down – this has gone down by 1.5 kgs.
Engine
Another area where Mahindra has been able to shave off costs is the engine. The Mojo XT 300 and UT 300 make use of the same 295cc single cylinder engine but the latter now comes with a carburetor as compared to fuel injection on the XT. This will not be a welcome change for tourers are Fi is known to adapt to changing weather conditions easily. High altitude riding and cold weather starts call for fuel injection.
Further, the maximum power has come down to 22.7 bhp from 26.8 bhp, a drop of 15%. Likewise, maximum torque has dropped by 16% to 25.2 Nm as compared to 30 Nm on the XT 300. We are sure this will reflect in real world riding and performance will take a hit.
Both the versions continue to use a 6-speed gearbox and rider aids like 320mm front and 240mm rear disc brakes which is a good step.
Verdict
The low cost Mojo UT 300 is priced at Rs 1.49 lakh (1.39 lakh till 31st March) while the XT 300 is just 16% more expensive at Rs 1.74 lakh. It looks better, has more features and offers better performance which is a boon for touring. If you happen to purchase the bike on a typical 3 year loan, the difference in EMIs will be under Rs 800 which is a nominal amount to pay for the improvements. The reason why we would pick the Mojo XT 300 as the better buy here

Upcomming Bikes From BMW G310R to Royal Enfield 650 india
New Post has been published on https://www.autohubindia.com/upcomming-bikes-from-bmw-g310r-to-royal-enfield-650-india/
Upcomming Bikes From BMW G310R to Royal Enfield 650 india
There will be an influx of new motorcycles in 2018. A score of new and exciting motorcycles will be launched in the affordable segment in India. Which are the most exciting motorcycles that will be launched this year? Let’s find out.
Husqvarna Svartpilen
Expected launch: Late 2018
The much-awaited Husqvarna twins have been finally spied in India. The Svartpilen is a scrambler-style street bike which is meant to handle the rough patches as good as the smooth tarmac surface. The Svartpilen gets off-road spec tyres with spoke alloy wheels. Other bits like the front USD and rear mono suspension remain same as the Vitpilen. KTM will build both the motorcycles at Bajaj’s Chakan plant and will export them from here.
Husqvarna Vitpilen
Expected launch: Late 2018
Husqvarna, a part of KTM will launch the Vitpilen and Svartpilen based on the KTM Duke. The Vitpilen is a cafe-racer styled motorcycle that will take on the Royal Enfield Continental GT in India. The lower handlebars make sure that the motorcycle gets an aggressive riding position. It will use the same chassis and engine as the KTM 390 Duke. The name means white arrow.
Royal Enfield Interceptor
Expected launch: Mid 2018
Royal Enfield unveiled their first ever twin-cylinder powered motorcycles last year. One of them will be the Interceptor which will be Triumph Street Twin challenger in India. The 650cc parallel twin engine is an all-new product and is air plus oil cooled.
It is the most advanced engine coming out of Royal Enfield factory ever and gets fuel injection, four-valve heads, and an overhead camshaft. It develops a maximum power of 47 Bhp at 7,100 rpm and 52 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. It gets a 6-speed unit with slipper clutch. It will also get ABS. The bike is expected to be launched by the mid of this year with a price tag of between Rs. 3-4 lakh.
Royal Enfield Continental GT
Expected launch: Mid 2018
Royal Enfield discontinued the Continental GT 535 recently and this one will take its place soon. It shares most of the cycle parts with the discontinued bike and the Interceptor. It gets a different styling for the more aggressive riding position. The Continental GT will be more expensive than the Interceptor in the market when launched.
BMW G310R
Expected launch: Late 2018
The German brand showcased the much-awaited bike at the 2018 Auto Expo. It will become the most affordable BMW motorcycle in India and will take on the likes of KTM 390 Duke. The BMW G310R is made in India and is already being exported to many foreign markets.
The bike draws power from a 313cc, single cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with twin overhead camshafts. The motorcycle produces a maximum of 33.6 BHP of power but weighs only 158 kg, which results in a very good power to weight ratio. The engine is a reversed cylinder design that will give it a better centre of gravity and fun to ride.
Hero XPulse
Expected launch: September 2018
Hero launched the Impulse in India a few years back but due to the puny engine, it did not gain much popularity among the enthusiasts. Hero officially showcased the bike at 2018 Auto Expo that attracted a lot of enthusiasts towards it.
The bike is built on the same platform as the Hero Xtreme 200. It gets the same new 200cc engine as the Xtreme and gets fuel injection as well. The engine delivers 18.4 PS Power and 17.1 Nm Torque and is mated to a 5-speed transmission. There are a bash plate and crash-guard to protect the engine. The motorcycle also gets a small fairing for wind deflection, an LED headlamp, knuckle guard, a twin seat and a high handlebar.
Aprilia RS 150
Expected launch: End 2018
Aprilia showcased two motorcycles at the 2018 Auto Expo. The bike is a mini version of Aprilia RSV4 and looks extremely aggressive. It will take on the Yamaha YZF-R15 head-on in the market. The power comes from 150cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, which is fuel injected. It produces a maximum of 180 Bhp and 14 Nm.
Aprilia Tuono 150
Expected launch: End 2018
The Touno is the mini version of Touno 1100. It is not as aggressive as the RS 150 and gets a relaxed riding position that makes it a long-distance motorcycle. The bike will take on the Yamaha Fazer in the Indian market. It gets the same engine as the RS 150.
Tork T6X
Expected launch: Mid 2018
The Pune-based firm has unveiled India’s first fully-electric motorcycle. The motorcycle will be powered by Li-ion battery and will have a maximum range of 100 km. The batteries charge to full in about 2 hours and Tork says that the battery attains 80% of charge in just one hour. The company is also working to install charging stations in the Pune city first and then the motorcycle will be launched in the other major cities of the country. The electric bike will be launched later this year.
Benelli Imperiale
Expected launch: April 2018
Benelli showcased the Imperiale 400 at the EICMA and it will be launched in India to take on the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and Classic 500. The retro-styled cruiser is powered by a 373cc, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine that produces a maximum power of 20 Bhp and 28 Nm. It was not showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo but will be launched soon in the market.

All-new Mahindra Thar will be on next-generation Scorpio SUV platform
New Post has been published on https://www.autohubindia.com/all-new-mahindra-thar-will-be-on-next-generation-scorpio-suv-platform/
All-new Mahindra Thar will be on next-generation Scorpio SUV platform
Mahindra is developing an all-new Thar on the future Scorpio platform, which will in turn use a body on ladder platform borrowed from South Korean SUV maker Ssangyong. The new off-road vehicle will be ready within the next 5 years, and is expected to be sold both in India and globally. The main reason why Mahindra is shifting the new Thar to the new Scorpio platform is to make it ready for stricter safety norms. Also, this approach will give Mahindra the flexibility to use turbocharged petrol, diesel and even electric powertrains on the new Thar.
Mahindra’s international operations chief, Arvind Mathew said this about the new Thar,
The one that is out there (present Thar/Roxor) does not meet Australian regs for crash, but the next generation will.
For now, these are the only new details available about the new Thar but off-road enthusiasts and existing Thar owners will be thrilled to know that Mahindra is actually developing an all-new model of the off-roader with many modern bits. The new Scorpio platform will not just meet higher safety standards but will also have cleaner engines. Finally, buyers of the Thar can have safety features like ABS and airbags, features that are missing from the present model. Also, using the new Scorpio platform for the new Thar will allow the off roader to be more refined in terms of on-road behaviour, another area where the current model lacks in.
Using the new Scorpio platform an digging into the parts bin of the new SUV is also expected to result in an affordable price tag for the new Thar. This is because of platform and parts sharing. As for styling, fans of the Thar will be hoping that it retains the iconic CJ5 Jeep inspired design. More details on the Thar is likely to surface in the coming months. Keep reading CarToq for the latest updates on the next-generation Thar, an international lifestyle off roader from India that is a Jeep Wrangler rival.

In this post, here, we take a look at 10 DC Car and SUV lounges –
Toyota Fortuner
Yes, the interior you see above belongs to a latest-generation Fortuner. As you can see, this lounge-like interior offers a really luxurious setup with electric reclining seats and a huge TV screen that separates the passenger area from the front seats. There’s a partition between the front and the rear seats to ensure the privacy of passengers in the rear.
Tata Aria

Ford EcoSport
The interior you see above belongs to a pre-facelift EcoSport that has been modified by DC Design. While there’s nothing radical about this interior, it does get a new beige-black color theme that makes the cabin look more upmarket.
Maruti Swift
Here’s a last-generation Maruti Swift that has been given the DC-treatment. It gets a white-black color interior with many bright red accents. The new interior color theme infuses a lot of freshness and sportiness with the design.
Nissan Evalia
Here is another interior that has got sportier after the DC touch. Seen in the above image is the cabin of a modified last-generation Hyundai Elantra that gets a red-black colour theme. The new colour combination makes the cabin look a lot more sportier.

National E-Mobility Programme Tata Tigor
New Post has been published on https://www.autohubindia.com/national-e-mobility-programme-tata-tigor/
National E-Mobility Programme Tata Tigor
The Government of India has launched a new National E-Mobility Programme. it aims at a realistic goal of 30 percent electric vehicles in India by 2030. A fresh tender for procurement of electric vehicles will be issued soon.
The Ministry of Power has launched a new National E-Mobility programme in India. it aims at a realistic goal of 30 percent new electric cars in India by the year 2030. Earlier, this stood at an over-ambitious figure of 100 percent. Nevertheless, under this scheme, the government will procure 10,000 electric vehicles. This will add to the existing 10,000 which were procured last year. The total 20,000 EVs will replace Government’s existing fleet of petrol and diesel powered vehicles.
National E-Mobility Programme: What’s It All About?
Under this new programme, the Government is going to procure electric vehicles for its fleet. The state-run Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) is in charge for this. 10,000 EVs already exist in the Government’s fleet. The Ministry will issue a new tender to add 10,000 more this year.
National E-Mobility Programme: What Are The Goals?
Earlier, rather enthusiastically the Government stated to have 100 percent electric cars in India by 2020. The new programme sets it at a comparatively realistic 30 percent.
National E-Mobility Programme: Environmental Effect?
According to the Government, the 20,000 electric cars in its fleet will replace the current petrol and diesel-powered vehicles. This alone will reduce India’s annual fuel consumption by 5 crore litres. As a result, our country’s annual CO2 emissions will reduce by 5.6 lakh tonnes. Going further, by 2030, numbers will look even more promising.
