Bubble tea

Two of our favourite bubble tea options!
The picture on the left hand side is brown sugar milk tea with oat milk and tapioca pearls from Maneki. And the photo on the right hand side is matcha milk tea with oat milk and tapioca pearls from a new bubble tea shop, called Boba Bar, on Parnell street.
We love seeing more bubble tea shops offering alternative milk to accommodate everyone.
Have you guys ever tried bubble tea? If you have, let us know what’s your favourite flavor to order!

Vegan Zizzi

We recently got the chance to try the three course meal from Zizzi and we obviously had to try the vegan options.
We started off with the "Little Soul" breads. The "Little Soul" bread is baked with garlic & sea salt and comes with a side of salsa. The "Little Soul" breads were beautifully made and we definitely recommend trying them. We also got the bruschetta which had slow-roasted tomatoes with fresh basil and nigella seeds, laid on toasted tomato & pesto focaccia and finished with more pesto. Again the bruschetta was delicious.
For main course, we got the Rustica Jackfruit Italian Hot pizza. The pizza included vegan jackfruit pepperoni, spicy harissa, roquito chillis and vegan MozzaRisella cheese.
And lastly, we got the Golden Millionaire's Slice for dessert. The Golden Millionaire Slice consisted of a chocolate chip cookie base, topped with layers of salted toffee and coconut chocolate ganache. Finished with splashes of gold.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the options available at Zizzi's and absolutely recommend any person who is vegan to try these at Zizzi's.
Have you guys tried any of these from Zizzi's? What do you recommend eating at Zizzi's?

Coffee spots

Cold weather calls for some warm drinks!
These are two of our current favourite coffee spots in Dublin. The top photo is from Greenshot on Aungier Street. Greenshot offers a wide range of pastries and sandwiches that are all vegan. We decided to try the edible cup that they offer. Sustainability is one of the things that Greenshot is passionate about therefore they came out with an edible cup. The edible cup lasts roughly an hour before the contents start to spill. We love this idea and obviously had to try it for ourselves. The vegan cinnamon roll definitely did not disappoint.
The second photo is from a late cafe called Mind The Step. With exam season and assignment due dates approaching we found ourselves in this little cafe near the Ha'penny Bridge. It is open late night and also offers a wide range of vegan pastries.
Overall, we've been loving these two coffee spots for their delicious pastries and coffee.
Let us know your favourite coffee spot!

Vegan Hotspots in Dublin
Devoted vegan or trying to be more sustainable? Either way these vegan restaurants will go down a treat! You can even bring your “meat-lover lover” and they’re bound to enjoy their food!
1. V-Face
Plant based burgers to die for, except nothing has to die for it! Located in Smithfield and the menu is packed with vegan burgers, hotdogs, loaded fries, wings, and more!
2. Nut Butter
Delicious healthy eating packed into one restaurant! Serving tacos, bowls, and small plates, all packed with fresh veg and proteins. You can’t go wrong! This place is a very relaxed setting to go on date.
3. The Happy Pear
We couldn’t make a vegan list and not include The Happy Pear. Although their Clondalkin branch has recently closed and Greystones isn’t technically Dublin, it’d be rude not to include the Happy Pear twins and if you and your date are going on holiday, you can catch a bite to eat in Terminal 1, Dublin Airport!
4. Cornucopia
Offering vegetarian as well as vegan food, Cornucopia caters for breakfast, lunch, and vegan dates! This is not just any vegan restaurant, they also do collection and delivery, sell cook books, and from the 1st December, they will be selling Christmas meals!
5. Vish Shop
A plant-based fish and chips alternative made from ethically sourced Cassava and Wild Irish Seaweed, creating a minimal ecological impact. This is more of a take-away eatery with limited window seating, although their other restaurant Veginity is just down the street!
6. Shouk
A Middle Eastern restaurant located in Drumcondra. This is mainly vegan although they do cater for vegetarians and meat eaters too, so everybody wins! A lot of their menu is also gluten free, and it is also very tasty!

Vegan Fast Food

Many fast food restaurants have vegetarian options to their menu but it is only recently that fast food restaurants have introduced vegan options to their menu. We decided to try two different burgers from two different fast food restaurants.
The first one we tried is the Vegan Royale from Burger King. The burger is unfortunately only available in the UK but can be found in Dublin Airport. Burger King UK partnered up with The Vegetarian Butcher to incorporate its crispy coated, plant-based chicken burgers in the new vegan alternative to ensure the Vegan Royale lives up to the original. Just like the original, the Vegan Royale is completed with iceberg lettuce, creamy vegan mayo, and a toasted sesame seed bun. The Vegan Royale definitely lived up to our expectations and we highly recommend anyone who use to love the original Chicken Royale to try the vegan version.
The second burger we got the chance to try is the new McPlant from McDonald’s. Fortunately, this burger is a lot more available than the Vegan Royale. The McPlant is available in six different locations in Dublin: O'Connell St, O'Connell Bridge, Grafton St, Mary Street, Temple Bar and Ilac Centre. The McPlant is a plant-based patty co-developed with Beyond Meat with vegan sandwich sauce, ketchup, mustard, onion, pickles, lettuce, tomato, and a vegan substitute to cheese in a sesame seed bun. And once again, the McPlant has impressed us all by the incredible similarity to a meat-based burger.
Overall, the Vegan Royale from Burger King and the McPlant McDonald’s are some of our favourite alternatives in fast food restaurants. The two burgers are incredibly similar to meat-based burgers and are amazing options for anyone looking for options in popular fast food chains such as Burger King and McDonald’s.
Have you ever tried the Vegan Royale or the McPlant?

Vegan Big Mac 🍔
📍30 Brunswick St N, Stoneybatter, Dublin 7, D07 TP64

We decided to the try the Mac D Lad (vegan version of a Big Mac) and Garlic Parm fries from VFace. The Mac D Lad is made of a Smashed Beyond Patty served on a charcoal bun. And the garlic parm fries is loaded with garlic mayo topped with homemade parmesan and fresh parsley.
The Mac D Lad burger tastes exactly like the original Big Mac from Mcdonald’s. It seems really crazy to think that the two burger tastes so much like each other but yet are made from completely different ingredients.
Would highly recommend trying the Mac D Lad from VFace! Would also recommend trying the vegan cookies that they had displayed by the counter.

Vegan Ramen 🍜
📍37 Abbey Street Upper, North City, Dublin 1, D01 P585

Monday afternoon, we wandered off for lunch and was immediately greeted by the friendly staff and incredible aroma of asian food. The restaurant opened at 12pm and when we got there at 1pm the restaurant was already busy.
We decided to try the vegan ramen from Takara Ramen & Deli Sushi Bar. It consisted of grilled tofu, shiitake mushroom, pak choi, bamboo shoots, sweet corns, spring onion, fungus, corriander and grilled seaweed, in a miso flavoured soup. The ramen tasted amazing and was the perfect comfort food on a cold and tiring day.
We also tried the Takara Yasai Set. The set had 6 vegan rolls, 4 avocado hosomaki, 4 roasted red pepper hosomaki, 2 inari fried tofu nigiri, 1 asparagus nigiri and 1 wakame goma nigiri. The set had a little bit of everything and was perfect as a sharing platter.
Overall, we loved Takara. Even though this restaurant isn’t a vegan restaurant, we appreciated that the place had vegan options. This place is great for those times when all you want is a bit of comfort food.
