What I think are some key issues with electric scooters in their current state
Electric scooters have rapidly gained popularity as a convenient and eco-friendly mode of transportation in urban areas. However, as with any emerging technology, electric scooters come with their own set of challenges. Drawing from both industry insights and personal experience, this post will delve into the most commonly discussed challenges for electric scooters.
Battery Life and Charging Problems
Tumblr media
One of the most frequent complaints about electric scooters is related to battery life. Many users find that their scooters do not deliver the range advertised by manufacturers. This discrepancy often arises from factors such as riding habits, terrain, and battery age. For instance, during a long-term test of various scooter brands, I observed that scooters used in hilly areas experienced a 20-30% reduction in range compared to flat terrains. Moreover, improper charging practices can lead to battery degradation. It's crucial to follow manufacturer guidelines for charging, such as avoiding overcharging or letting the battery completely drain regularly. Investing in a high-quality scooter with a reputable battery brand can also mitigate some of these issues. Also you will be less likely to impact the horrible conditions for workers harvesting the materials used in lithium batteries such as cobalt.
Mechanical Failures
Electric scooters, despite their simplicity, are susceptible to mechanical failures. Common issues include problems with the brakes, tires, and folding mechanisms. Brakes, especially disc brakes, can wear out quickly if not maintained properly. During a recent survey of 500 scooter users, 35% reported brake issues within the first six months. Regular checks and timely replacements are necessary to ensure safety. Pneumatic tires, while providing a smoother ride, are prone to punctures and require more frequent maintenance compared to solid tires. The folding mechanism, designed for convenience, can sometimes become loose or jammed, leading to frustrating user experiences.
Software Glitches
Modern electric scooters often come equipped with smart features such as Bluetooth connectivity, mobile apps, and integrated displays. These technological advancements, while convenient, introduce a new realm of potential issues. Software glitches can cause the scooter to malfunction, ranging from connectivity problems to erroneous speed readings. In one instance, a firmware update caused several users’ scooters to abruptly cut power at low battery levels, leading to unexpected stops. Keeping the scooter’s firmware up to date and using official apps can help reduce these problems. However, users should be prepared for occasional troubleshooting and the need for technical support.
Durability and Build Quality
The durability of electric scooters varies widely across different brands and models. Lower-end scooters often suffer from poor build quality, leading to faster wear and tear. Components such as the frame, handlebars, and footboards can deteriorate with regular use, especially in adverse weather conditions.
It's advisable to invest in a scooter from a reputable brand known for durable construction, particularly if you plan to use it frequently or in rough environments. My own experience with a high-end model showed that despite frequent use in all weather conditions, the scooter remained robust and reliable after two years.
Safety Concerns
Safety is a paramount concern for electric scooter users. The compact size and high speeds of scooters make them vulnerable to accidents, particularly in congested urban areas. Lack of proper lighting, reflectors, and inadequate helmets are common issues that can lead to serious injuries.
Manufacturers and users alike must prioritize safety features. Wearing a helmet, using additional lights, and adhering to traffic rules can significantly reduce the risk of accidents. According to a study by the Journal of the American Medical Association, head injuries account for nearly 30% of all scooter-related injuries, underscoring the importance of protective gear.
Regulatory Challenges
Finally, the legal landscape for electric scooters is still evolving. In many places, there are unclear or rapidly changing regulations regarding where scooters can be ridden and parked. Just like when hoverboards first arrived.
Users often face fines for riding on sidewalks or leaving scooters in unauthorized areas. Staying informed about local laws and following them diligently can help avoid legal troubles. For example, in San Francisco, recent legislation now requires scooters to be parked in designated zones, a regulation that caught many users off guard.
My final thoughts on electric scooter
While electric scooters offer an innovative and efficient way to navigate cityscapes, they come with their own set of challenges. From battery issues and mechanical failures to software glitches and safety concerns, understanding these common problems can help users make informed decisions and maintain their scooters effectively. Giving their product longevity and having less impact on the use of scarce material and also recycling.
By addressing these issues proactively, both manufacturers and users can contribute to a safer and more reliable electric scooter experience.

Fun toddler scooter for 2 year olds
If you're a parent looking for an electric scooter for your toddler this text here will be written just for you. I myself have been looking around for a toddler scooter for my 2 year old for a long time and it’s not an easy task. There is literally zero information about them on their products. The descriptions don’t really cool you down and give you that safety perspective you might want if you’re a parent.
Tumblr media
Safety first when it comes to kids
When it comes to parents and their concerns about their kids I can only go to myself and say that safety is the key in every situation I am put in. Whether it’s finding a ride on toy for kids or taking them to a new playground or just leaving them with another parent so that they can play with their friends. Safety is the first thing that pops into my head. There is no difference when it comes to electric scooters for toddlers. This is just the same as any other situation and when I do not find what I'm looking for well then I get concerned if it really is a good choice to buy one of these 3 wheeled scooters.
A 2 wheeled scooter is by far too difficult to use for a 2 year old and they can easily tilt over to much and hit the ground. Speed is also a concern, the one that I finally did get is the pulse safe start electric scooter and I can say it is perfect for a 2 year old.
Tumblr media
Design
This might not be too much of a big deal for your kids but some might not love the princess design on the most sold pulse safe start scooter. That is why I would like to tell you that you're in luck. There are literally 10 different designs. 3-5 aimed at girls and 3-5 aimed at boy’s, of course I am PRO unisex so if my kid want a scooter with princesses I wouldn't mind. Whatever makes him happy is the best choice according to me.
Conclusions on the toddler ride-on question
So my conclusion is that the pulse safe start is the best option if you have kids age 2-4 this tricycle scooter will give your toddlers stability and it has a turn radius which makes it impossible for them to oversteer and fall off. 1.75 mph top speed is comparable with their running speed so falling off will not cause any major damage if any; don’t forget the right safety gear though!

Have a lovely Christmas!
As you all might know I love Christmas and I am sad that it is soon to be over but, I got myself a new Self-balancing scooter (the same brand and model) but the other broke down on me. It was my own fault but I was very sad about it and happy to be back on the hoverboard again and out on the streets!

Lovely christmas everyone and a happy new year!

Bought me a dirt cheap hoverboard!
I just bought myself the new and trending hands free Segway. From what I read in the reviews this is the best hoverboard Segway on the market as of today. And it is one of the cheapest hoverboards also, huge bonus. Well a few days ago when I actually bought it this was true, things tend to change fast in this business but not that fast I think. I found it on this create list: https://aridejunkie.com/hoverboards-for-kids/
Anyway, it can go insanely fast with the best max speed of all scooters. I myself have not tested it at top speed yet due to me just riding around in house at the moment. But I will definitely tell you all about it as soon as I have gotten the hang of it. As of right now I am a bit unbalanced, at least that is what my mom’s interior told me. A few things have been broken so far but not the self-balancing scooter itself or any bones, so were good.
Look at it its so fine!
Tumblr media
Haha just kidding! Here it is :)
Tumblr media
Where did I get this thing then? Well I got it at Amazon but I found it at a site called “Hands free segways” which seem to be reviewing these things. Good thinking by me reading some of these reviews because I was just about to buy one that I probably would have ended up with hating. It had the worst speed ever and for those who know me I am crazy about speed. I want everything to go as fast as possible. I might not always want to ride/go at the fastest speed since I am a little bit of a chicken but I always want to have the fastest thing. Just in case I would want to go really fast. But as of now I’m just cruse around the house trying to get better at it so I can ride it outside.
I have only been riding it for about an hour and I already feel very secure so it will probably only be an hour or more before I dare to test it outdoors. But let’s get back to the scooter. It has a charging time of 1-2 hours which is incredibly fast and I with my weight should be able to go around 15-20 miles on a fully charged battery which will more than sufficient to take me to school and back. I’d might even be hitting the library, well I won’t because I do my reading online but I could if I wanted. Anyway that is all the news for now. Hope to update you on this awesome hoverboard Segway any day soon! Maybe I’ll even throw in some pictures or a video.
