hello anon, it’s been a few months! thank you for checking in on me.

the last couple of months since i’ve posted last have been busy busy busy. my work opened back up since the start of the pandemic and i’ve picked up another job, so i’ve been working double time. any fleeting moment i have of peace and quiet, i’m usually spending sleeping or just detaching for a little while.

so everything is okay, yes, thing are good. just busy. i’m sorry to have abandoned the account and leave you guys hanging; i’m hoping to get back into the swing of things as my schedule may be a little more flexible in the upcoming weeks.

okay, so, i read more reader inserts than character x character fanfic, so i don’t have any recommendations for that. however, regardless of fanfic genre, i am always—always—a sucker for a good domestic au or soulmate au.

as for what i’d like to see more of, that’s hard one! maybe more redemption (perhaps more forgiveness would be better word choice) for topper and rafe. more redemption for topper, because he didn’t kill anyone, and more forgiveness (to an extent) for rafe considering the emotional turmoil that basically made him feel it was necessary to shoot peterkin.

you might find that my writing style changes minutely as more fics are posted. i’m still trying to find my personal niche, so please bear with me!

i just have one question, though. do you all prefer second person (i.e., you smile brightly and nod) or third person (i.e., she smiles brightly and nods)?

of course, i can change pronouns as needed in third person, since second person is generally more inclusive. i personally prefer writing in third person but i know more people on tumblr like second person when reading fics, but let me know! inbox, dms, reblogs, whatever. your opinion matters!

you know what? let’s talk about rafe cameron.

stop what you’re doing right now, and go back to episode 9, “the bell tower”, time stamp 14:33.

this scene is absolutely heartbreaking, to say the least. it fucks me up every time i watch it, and i’ve watched outer banks FOUR TIMES. drew starkey does an outstanding job during this scene, and i truly applaud him for it. grammy worthy, i tell you.

this scene was when my heart was softened to rafe, and i was able to see past the drug addiction, past him shooting the sheriff, and past all of his toxic and violent tendencies. i saw past the bad boy facade, and actually saw a little boy in him.

it’s clear that sarah cameron is ward’s favroite out of of the 3 cameron children. he seems to perceive her as his perfect little girl who can do no wrong. it’s also clear how ward perceives rafe, as nothing but a fuck up.

“you understand why i did it? you were in trouble, and i was protecting you. okay? me, dad. rafe. not sarah, okay? it was me”

in this moment, you see it in his eyes just how broken he is. you see the little boy in him; the one screaming his dad’s name, begging for attention, but never receiving it. you see just how much that affects him. you see someone who just wants an ounce of love and recognition from his own father.

then, when ward hugs him, he almost doesn’t know how to act. it’s like he can’t believe it, probably because something like that coming from his father has never happened before.

everyone feels so fucking bad for jj, which don’t get me wrong, we all should! his dad is a piece of shit, but why can’t we show the same amount of sympathy for rafe? sure, his dad doesn’t beat him like him jj’s dad does to him, but WARD MADE RAFE FEEL SO INVISIBLE AND UNLOVED THAT HE FELT THE NEED TO SHOOT SOMEONE TO GAIN HIS ATTENTION! and even then, ward was more concerned about keeping sarah quiet than what rafe was doing.

i’m not excusing what rafe does. shooting someone is not okay, and showing extremely violent tendencies isn’t okay either. but i don’t think rafe would’ve turned out the way he did if ward would’ve treated him like he does sarah— if he would’ve shown him even an ounce of love growing up.

rafe wants want every kid wants from their parents, some fucking love, and he isn’t wrong for wanting that.
