I deeply hate reylo and I hate how it was woobified and used to sideline a black man and perpetuate abuse on screen towards a role model for little girls and if you don’t think there is anything wrong with that go ahead and unfollow me because I’m done. I honestly didn't get that vibe from her. In her press she always downed Kylo, so this really is a surprise to me. How did you know?

so i didn’t really post anything but i’ve been actually checking what she says about star wars & rose much more regularly than others and a lot of stuff doesn’t get posted on tumblr because her fandom isn’t big and even if someone posts something, it’s usually someone from that Asian R*ylo Group (i’m asian) so if you don’t follow r*ylos then you don’t really get to see what she says. she LOVES that shirtless kylo scene lol, not because atom’s body looks hilarious. on the relationship b/w finn and rose and rose not being really kind to finn, she says something like finn’s sometimes mean to rose too (sorry, this isn’t how she worded but i don’t remember it because i didn’t want to remember it) and like… she just really likes how rose is written because of GIRL POWER!! stuff like that.

i’ve been always trying to tell myself that she’s lying because of her contract and her acting career but you know like when someone really is genuine and being honest…… you just know that. it’s really different from miss daisy’s soulless eyes during the promo. but since it was still an assumption, i haven’t said anything about all this, until now.

Most in-character thing Finn said in TLJ, and it’s in a deleted scene. He is all for the Resistance, he supports them ideologically, but he freed himself from one army and does NOT want to join another. I love how he stands up to Poe in that moment. Finn does NOT want to be a soldier, he does not want Poe to think of him as an (ex)stormtrooper and assume that he would be ready for battle anytime just because of his conditioning. Finn is his own man and asserts that he is not here out of his own desire and wishes to LEAVE (what a shame then, that the movie continues to guilt and shame and hurt him into staying with the Resistance).

rian and lucasfilm really thought it was such a great idea for the first main woc in star wars to be a selfish violent jealous contradictory character who was angry the whole time and wanted to “put [her] fist through” a whole society but then turn around and tell finn that love was gonna save the day or some shit. lucasfilm really used veronica ngo in so much of their promo knowing full well that paige was gonna die in the first 10 minutes for no reason. they really let finn be abused (right after recovering from a back terrible injury???) and mocked and talked down to and erase his previous characterization so that he learns some big lesson we already saw him learn in the last movie and that he (re)learns it form someone who never treated him with respect and then made them kiss as if any romantic feelings were present throughout the movie. they really went and solidified that mess, drove it right home, with this novelization

all that so-called hard work, crafted with “a love for star wars”, and for what? the movie was trash and the book is super trash to like i cannot believe it i cannot fathom how something this wack could be made and exist and have ppl defending it like wow that shit was so wack it was ridiculous it was uninteresting and out of character or nonsensical throughout like? just throw that whole thing away and start over or act like it didn’t happen bc it’s not worth trying to fix like just make it a fever dream  that’s the only explanation i could believe for this foolishness

I cant believe what i just saw with my own eyes, but there are people out there defending Rose’s abusive and antiblack behavior. They even cropped excerpts, actively leaving out her absolute worst moments even when they are literally the line directly after their excerpt, to somehow prove that she’s not terrible. They fail, but the that they’re trying is scary and shows how profoundly and blindly racist these individuals are.

There defenses are as follows:

Rose was grieving! Because apparently that excuses her repeated physical, verbal, and emotional abuse toward Finn.

Rose was ordered to assault deserters! Except Finn isn’t a deserter. He never enlisted with the Resistance and even tells Rose that he never intended to enlist. This only makes her angrier and she’s tempted to assault him again.

Rose was not mean to Finn *actively ignores the countless moments where she was outright cruel to Finn* Besides Rose was grieving! Yeah, you mentioned that. The novel and film show her as abusive, antiblack, and malicious toward Finn no matter how desperately you want to ignore it.

Rose’s vindictive jealousy and bitterness toward Rey, a woman she’s never met and only knows good things about, is natural since she’s in love with Finn! Yeah, to a misogynist, it probably does seem natural. But it isn’t at all ok outside of your sexist perspective. While jealousy is natural and is something Rey feels when she sees Finn taking care of Rose, the feeling does not justify cruel behavior.

Even Poe is surprised with Finn’s behavior *provides instance where Rose is actively mean to Finn while Poe is surprised and then compassionate and understanding* How warped does your mind have to be to think this is something that proves your point? This literally proves the opposite of your point.

Long story short, there is no defense for Rose. She is a terribly, abusive and antiblack individual who dehumanized Finn. No one can possibly call themselves a Finn fan or anything but racist if they approve of or excuse him being treated this way.

Rose’s bitterness over Finn’s love for Rey would be straight up hilarious if it wasn’t for the fact that the first and only Asian lead in Star Wars is being depicted so horribly. Oh and the use of potential violence against a black man is being used for comedy, which is equally as terrible.
